"My girlfriend found this place and saw that it had good reviews, so we decided to try it out. Once we arrived parking was a bit difficult to find (especially on a Wednesday), since it's in a small area. Once we arrived we were greeted and quickly seated. The atmosphere was nice and had a romantic bar vibe.Once seated we ordered drinks and an appetizer (the artichoke dip) and also ordered our main courses. I ordered the Breaded Chicken and my girlfriend ordered the Basil Chicken. Both came with soup or salad, which we both ordered the soup. One chicken tortilla soup and one soup of the day. Shortly after our waitress brought us rolls w/ butter which were nice, delicious, and warm.Later our appetizer arrived, which had a nice presentation but did not have any flavor at all. It was bland and the pita chips had to be eaten with it since they had saltiness to add with it. Once we received our main courses, we were excited (since the plates looked great). But after eating the food we both were disappointed. The pasta with the Breaded Chicken was very bland and the crust was sliding off the chicken. It was very difficult to eat. As for the Basil chicken plate, the kale was not tasty at all. It had a salty kick and then a bitter aftertaste. We had told our waitress and once she spoke to the manager she provided a 10% discount for the inconvenience.I'm sorry, but I give this place 3 stars. We left disappointed, and even with the discount it was still overpriced for the taste of the food."
"Food- 4Service- 4.5Cleanliness- 3.5Overall- 4Waitress was excellent (Elisha?), food was yummy- onion rings bigger than expected for small appetizer, peach cobbler was really good, chicken fried steak was as large, coleslaw probably best, fried oyster and fried catfish worth writing home to mom about."

"The only sad thing about tonight was we did not capture any pictures of our delicious food. Made a reservation for Christmas Eve and was immediately sat when we came in. Fast service from the kitchen and amazing service fromBailey. We ordered drinks, appetizers, main courses and dessert. Bailey was knowledgeable about the entire menu. We did not have to ask for anything because she asked or brought before we could even want! Restaurant was decorated very nice for the holidays. If you stop in ask for Bailey and try the fried alligator with a side of ranch for the crispy bed of onions and the crawfish etouffee with a little extra spice.Thank you Bailey and Landry's for a great night!"
"First, let me start off by saying the place looked and smelled clean. No longer was it the dirty smelling, sticky floored place of my childhood. Big plus. Not so much of a plus, the lighting situation. But let me get to the food. Service, was great. Our waitress was sweet, quick, checked on us often. Loved the service. But let me tell you what I didn't love. The food. Least favorite, the baked potato. It's a potato wrapped in foil, tossed in an oven I assume and brought to table in said foil. Poke a few holes, season the outside..do something more with it! It was a depressing bite. The chicken fried steak was bland and an incredibly small portion for the price. Looked like a frozen piece of meat that was heated and served with goopy thick gravy that may have been sitting out for a bit (mind you we were there about noon). Also, can the restaurant explain their chicken tender policy? A kids meal is 8 bucks and comes with a single tender. So I figured, you know let me order the adult tender meal for my 2 Littles to split...it's literally $17 for 2 tenders and a handful of fries!? What? Also why are the fries seasoned better than the chicken or chicken fried steak??The steak and shrimp, incredibly pricey but not as flavorful as other steakhouses. The shrimp were cooked well but again, no seasoning. I will say the tartar sauce was delicious. I'm also glad the green goddess salad dressing recipe is the same from my childhood. The salad though...mostly the overly crunchy thick white cuts from the lettuce. No actual leafiness. It also leaves a lot of water in the salad bowl, which wasnt very appetizing. Overall, it felt like a nostalgic visit that left me questioning my childhood memories. I remember visiting this restaurant with family for every special occasion but now, I don't think I could ever return."
"Not the best breakfast place. I've been here a couple times and food is always sub-par. Nothing crazy, cups and utensils were dirty. Management and workers were overwhelmed. I would definitely go to Comfort Cafe next time!"
"Amazing food. Fried fish and shrimp were good and hubbys grilled chicken salad was good but the ranch salad dressing was a bit watery, almost to no taste. There were many tropical drink selections to choose from and the one I had was very good. It wasnt too strong but just right. Fried pickle slices were a nice appetizer choice and they even were fried perfectly. The service was decent, friendly and the atmosphere was casual with a very unique decor. This place is always worth a visit."
"This is one of my favorite places to eat! Everyone is so attentive and nice! The food is ALWAYS GREAT! The ambiance is perfect enough to have a convo and there are also plenty of photo ops for your social media!"
"Great view of ocean with live music and friendly staff. Had a great time and also had some drinks."
"Parking in the back of restaurant. Got seated right away, order Ed specials of menudo and barbacoa taco and soda. . Waiter was very nice and attentive."
"Its always a wonderful experience here from the service to the food and drinks. The times we have been there our servers are knowledgeable of the different plates offered and share their favorites with us. Looking forward to visit again during brunch!"
"First time here so here goes all the good news first. We were looking for an old style lunch diner with comfort food. We would definitely come back. There were a few flaws but not enough to scratch this place off of our foodie road trip list. It's very clean, the decor is simple diner style, the staff is super friendly and efficient, the portions are huge, and the prices are very reasonable. It's a typical fairly limited diner lunch menu with daily specials (can you believe liver and onions - haven't seen that in years), and the ingredients for the most part were fresh done old school style. The roast beef was a REAL roast cooked in the oven for hours - so tender it just fell apart on your fork. I could eat that every day. The chicken fried steak was from scratch as were the amazing thick sliced huge onion rings. Almost every table had them. The breading for both looked like it had a little cornmeal mixed in. The gravy for the CFS was not the typical cream gravy. More on that later. The dinner salad was the usual diner salad but so crispy fresh and cold. The chunky thick blue cheese dressing looked and tasted like scratch made. The fluffy dinner rolls are made every morning and so are the scratch pies. You have to wait til the pies cool enough to slice. Some are a mile high. So there were a few minor issues but not enough to keep us from coming back when we're in San Antonio. First and foremost, the coffee was weak. That's a crime at a diner, and another customer was ticked off, but oh well. This isn't a coffeehouse. Overall, the food lacked salt. I'm ok with that because I'm cutting back and prefer to add more if needed, but some people want their food seasoned during cooking. Here, it's all very flat from lack of salt (except the salty packaged brown gravy mix on the roast). That included the bland thin yellow gravy that is served under the CFS. Never saw that before, but it kept the steak batter crispy. The mashed potatoes were a huge disappointment, the main reason for the 4 stars. To me and other diners at the table next to us, they were horrible. They were straight up russet potatoes mashed plain as if they just baked then smashed into a hard, dry lump that looked like it was scooped out of a big pan - no salt, milk, seasoning, or butter - just pure literal solid mashed potatoes. But the worst thing was the cold roast beef on the open face sandwich. The next table over's was cold, too. We sent it back to be microwaved, and then it was hot. And still delicious enough to order every day. Even so, with such a shortage of good diners serving comfort food these days, we were happy to find this place, and we will be back. We'll just avoid the pitfalls we learned from this trip."
"I recently visited this restaurant for a birthday dinner and while it had some positives, there were also a few drawbacks. The food was average. I tried the Cajun grilled chicken with rice and broccoli cheddar soup. While the broccoli cheddar soup was decent the consistency was a bit thick and clumpy. The highlight of the show was the Cajun grilled chicken. It was tender and seasoned perfectly. The Spanish rice was ok. I had a bite of the Southwest burger and that was really good. Flavors were on point and cooked perfectly. I may need to order that for the next time. The restaurant does have plenty of space inside for getting together with friends and family which makes it a good option for hosting parties or large gatherings. Another big plus is the ample parking, which made arriving and leaving easy.Unfortunately, the service was quite slow. It took a while to get our orders taken and even longer for the food to arrive. Don't get me wrong the server was nice and wonderful. We were just a large group. She was assisting us alone and she definitely could have used some help. This restaurant was definitely an adequate place if you need space for a group."

This is one of our staples on our visits but yet I've never reviewed. A local establishment with lots of fun decor. Very kitschy. Service is always impeccable, no matter how busy they get. And trust me, they get packed!Known for many items, one of my faves would be their onion rings. Lightly battered and they aren't heavy. The breading is seasoned to perfection.I love the grilled chicken salad, the marinade has such refreshing flavor; very Southwest.

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the seafood. The almond crusted Mahi Mahi was absolutely superb. No joke, it's been since living in Charleston that I've had a fish fillet that left me craving each next bite. It was fresh, flavorful, and had the perfect texture inside/out (perfectly cooked). The almonds added a pleasant crisp to the outside of the fillet that set it apart. The sauce was incredible, and the avocado/tomato combo was a pleasant compliment to the dish. The service was excellent. The ambiance is upscale, white tablecloth, but is certainly a little dated. I would definitely return for another meal. It's the ideal location for a business dinner.

Love this place! Homie country family style seating. Friendly weight service and very casual atmosphere. And the food is quick and extremely satisfying. My New York strip was fantastic. All the sides also very good.

The food at pancake Joe's is always good and so is their service. I got the spicy chicken biscuit with honey butter, cheesy hash browns & an egg over medium. My bf got the cowboy breakfast and corned beef hash on the side (not pictured here sorry). Sunday morning, and this place was packed per usual but the food always comes out pretty face and the service is always good. I'll be back again soon.

Recommended place to eat from the girl that checked me into my hotel. Hole in the wall. Chill vibe. Service and the food were amazing. Let the waitress bring me her favorite thing on the menu. Will 100% be coming back.

When you walk in you order your food at the counter and get a number for your table. It's definitely more of a causal type place. They do have waitstaff that will bring you the drinks and your food. I ordered the veggie omelette and subbed the tomatoes for jalapeños. It was really good and the serving sizes were generous. Prices were about average for the area too.

First time here. Blackbeards had a long wait. Ordered mahi fresh fish of the day with green beans, brocolli and added 4 shrimp grilled. Mahi was dry and seemed overcooked. Needed tartar which seemed homemade. Green beans canned and fatty bacon was added. Brocolli was steamed but still crunchy. Shrimp were good. Super cold inside even with jackets on. A guy was singing, which was cool. Place seemed more like a bar. (34)

"Great local spot! Love the vintage look on the floors. Great food and great customer service. Food: I really enjoyed their wings. The tater tots were great too. I'll definitely come back and try their burgers and wings. Great local spot in new Braunfels. I love finding whole in the wall spots like this. The customer service was amazing"
"We chose the Seahorse for our dinner our first night in Surfside. We were seated quickly and after a few minutes our adorable waitress, Hailey, took our order. She knew the menu very well and was so sweet and helpful. My husband ordered the coconut shrimp and I ordered grilled shrimp tacos with a side salad. The food arrived quickly and was delicious! The jalapeño ranch on the salad was awesome! I could have eaten it with a straw! My shrimp tacos were great, especially theMango salsa! My husband loved his coconut shrimp. So crunchy and the sweet and sour sauce was perfect. The shrimp was so fresh! Loved the classic music they were playing and, of course, the view of the ocean rounded out our perfect dinner!"
"Some friends and I decided to try this place after reading the reviews and someone from the Jersey Barn said we needed to go here too. So glad we did!! The food is delicious! I had the smash burger, my friend had loaded fries with I believe it was brisket, other friend had the back porch sandwich and my husband had the smash burger as well. They were delicious!! We all ate everything off our plates. Then to top it off we shared a banana pudding. I would definitely come back here!"
"I was in Brownsville for 3 days & nights for business meetings and an event. I Had the best Mexican food ever, amazing tacos with delectable flavors. At vermillion , the food was delicious, fresh and served quickly with a smile. A bit noisy and crammed, the place is a great lunch spot where locals come to get great food."
"We've been here several times and each visit has been great. Food: We've ordered the breakfast combo w hashbrowns & toast, country breakfast, deuces breakfast, and the chicken fried steak breakfast (all breakfasts we've had with either sausage & bacon)Delicious food each time, no complaints Service: fast, friendly & efficient serviceWould recommend and will continue to come back."
"Havent been to pats since they changed owners so this is a brand new experience. I kinda compare them vs now. Went in on a Thursday about 6:30. 10 minute wait which went by fast. We sat in the new room at a larger table due to having a baby. I enjoyed not being squished in a corner. I ordered a beef and chicken enchilada plate and my husband ordered beef. Enchiladas were very good. I miss the old chicken enchiladas but had no complaints with these new ones . Didn't come with sour cream which they used to before but it was fine. Chips and salsa were amazing . I am loving this new salsa they have it had a nice kick without feeling like I'm going to burn my throat. The old salsa was a lotto, you never knew if it was gonna be spicy or plain. They do charge a credit card fee which is listed on the menu and i believe at the front. I think it was happy hour when i went but wasn't sure. Waitress didn't tell us if it was or not but Facebook did when i went home. Would have probably got some queso if it was. Will be back for a burger soon with fried pickles."
"Stopped in while shopping downtown to grab a beer & a small snack. Braeven was our bar tender and she was super friendly and answered our questions about the history & about the menu. We'll definitely come back and askfor her!! We ordered 2 draft beers from a decent selection of taps.. IPAS to light beer selections. We also shared a small nacho plate with the Texas Red (mild version) chili and it was really good! It was daytime, so the music was at a good level. We were able to sit at the bar and talk. It appeared to be some locals and maybe a couple groups of tourists. Mixed group. We'll be back!"
"They a very yummy chicken fried steak with cream gravy, mashed potatoes, and green beans!! Service is great and attentive, and the ambiance is chill and relaxed! A good go to for delicious food!"
"I go to school in the area so a couple friends and I come to this diner often for breakfast and it's just a wonderful vibe!Everyone is always so sweet and attentive and honestly every time we have gone we have gotten extremely fast service, our breaks are about 45 minutes long and we normally make it back to class before break ends!Overall we will continue to come here and we appreciate everyone that works here!"
"A Beautifully appointed space but the food is rather bland. Friendly yet slow service. I wish the food tasted as good as it looked."
"We just went in for coffee this morning, after we got our cookie from them during the Rosenberg Cookie Walk Downtown. Everyone was kind and engaging. Watched as the young man behind the counter skillfully made a banana split. We've eaten there in the past, and will eat there again."
"Unfortunately, No Vegetarian burgers! Fries and Malts are great. They need a good veggie burger, not a plant based mush mash. A good plain veggie burger would be so great!"
"I am just one of the MANY that is glad this location has finally reopened. And they seem to have reopens with a bang! The decor is stunningly cabin-like. Huge booths with wall to wall wooden fixtures. The staff also seemed eager to welcome guests back.Their menu is just as plentiful as before. Lots of homestyle items to choose from. Our meals were brought out in a timely manner. Both egg styles were delicious and perfectly cooked. The bacon was thick and savory. Their hash browns were crispy and flavorful. Will definitely return multiple times!"
"Always great food. Great, friendly staff. The variety and prices are good and they always seem to have smiling staff that's ready to refill coffee cups and bring the extras we forgot to ask for."
"Food is good, service is slow. Nice spot for lunch downtown. If you're on a limited lunch break, definitely order ahead or to-go, or you'll be late getting back to work."
"I had not visited this grill in some time. So I decided to give it a try and was professionally greated by a nice gentleman. He sat me in Sandy's section who promptly came to see if I needed a beverage. I received a fresh ice tea with lemon. I told her I was ready to order and I ordered the Chicken Taco Salad. It was freshly made with crisp lettuce, tomatoes, with side kicks of sour cream and avacodo. I didn't get a dressing as I asked for the salsa. It was so tasty that I asked for additional. They did have a great selection of daily specials and the cakes are home made by the owner I understand and are a heafty servicing I saw.All in all Sandy was jolly on the spot and got what ever was needed. You don't find outstanding wait staff like now days. Hats off to Sandy!Keep up the great work The 1838 Grill!!"
"My coworkers love to get tacos from here for the office, and they are delicious every time. I came to visit the restaurant today for the 1st time in person, and the service was pretty fast. Waitress was very attentive, and customer service was superb. Food came out fast, and my tacos were as delicious as they always are. I usually order bean and cheese and the papa con chorizo. If you order some breakfast items after 11 a.m., there is an additional charge. They provide small cups of vanilla to add to your coffee, and it sweetens it perfectly. Ask for the vanilla cups if you don't automatically get them with your coffee. The salsa for the chips had the perfect spice to it, and I could not put them down. It unfortunately ruined my appetite for my actual meal, lol"
"We came on a weeknight for an early birthday dinner. TR was able to accommodate our party of 7 with an additional high chair for my baby nephew. I liked the booth seating here for a more private experience. Shoutout goes to our waiter, Erick, who provided such great customer service to our table. He checked up on us often and refilled our bread and drinks. He also communicated with us when our entrees would be arriving. He did this all with enthusiasm and a smile. So, my family and I definitely appreciated this. Thank you, Erick! As for our food, they were all good. I think the only outlier was the bbq chicken my SIL ordered. The chicken itself was dry and the sauce too sweet. Otherwise, here's a breakdown of the other items on their menu: Complimentary bread (5/5): I love these dinner rolls. Just their glistening appearance when they arrived to our table was beautiful. The rolls were soft and delicious. They were sooo good with their cinnamon whipped butter. I had to eat two of them, at least. Well, I didn't have to, but I wanted to. Lol. Frozen margarita (4/5): I forgot to take a picture. But, I really enjoyed my margarita drink. It had an ample amount of salt on the rim and the cup was huge. This is not different from other margaritas I've had. But, it was delicious and gave me just the right amount of buzz. Safe to say, I drank all of it. Lol. Blooming cactus (4/5): Everyone enjoyed this appetizer. We thought the onion was cooked well and the batter not too heavy. It was a bit salty, though. But, it was still good. My lil bro said this was better than the blooming onion at Outback Steakhouse.Chili (4/5): I really enjoyed this chili with onions and cheese. I think it tasted bean-less, which I preferred. This reminded me a lot of the Zippy's chili in Hawaii from my childhood. I would recommend this as one of the sides that come with the steak entree.Loaded baked potato (4/5): Yummy. Normally, I don't really like sour cream. But, in this potato, it was yummy mixed in with the cheese and bacon. This was definitely worth the additional charge as a side that came along with my steak. FYI - You get two sides with the steak entree. Forth Worth Ribeye (14 oz) (4/5): I've had this steak before at another TR and loved it. So, of course I'd order it again. My family all ordered the same steak too. Lol. It was cooked to medium rare and had that beautiful charbroiled flavor. I did add sautéed mushrooms and onions to my steak this time around, which was delicious. But, I found it did make my steak a bit saltier than I'd like. Next time, I think I'll just order my steak sans the mushrooms/onions. Overall, my family and I had a great food and customer service experience at this TR location. We will be back. Come check them out as well."
"Tried to go eat there but the parking g lot was full. Waited around for like 10 minutes but the parking situation was horrible. On a positive they seemed very popular"
"Saw a sign on the highway so I looked this up on Yelp. After seeing the good reviews, we decided to come here for lunch. The restaurant is a short drive from the highway. There is indoor and outdoor seating. Plus they have ducks that the kids can feed for 50 cents. Near the duck area there are settings to swing on.The menu has a good amount of variety for both fish lovers and fish haters. We started off with an order of hush puppies. They were very good with a little bit of heat. The kid and I liked them, hubs not so much. He prefers them to be sweet. For lunch I got a salad with blackened tuna on top. You could also get it with chicken or mahi. It was a good salad with a big piece of tuna. The tuna was great! The only thing I would do different is put it in a big bowl. The plate it was served on was too small which made it difficult to eat without losing some of the food off the plate.Hubs got the fish and chips which I tasted and it was very good. The kid got chicken fingers which looked really good. This is a good place to stop for food. I'd definitely recommend it and would eat here again."
"Yes, every hotel restaurant in America is overpriced, and I mean every one! The Glass Pavilion was a nice surprise. I didn't want to go out, so a colleague and I ate in-house. The restaurant faces the bay, so there is a great view. The menu has a good selection for lunch, and the prices were quite normal. I ordered the club sandwich with fries. My gosh, it was so good! Trey had a hamburger and enjoyed it. My compliments to the staff for a delicious and relaxing lunch. I will happily eat here again"
"The catfish dinner is wonderful two huge filets and house made tartar sauce. I had side salad and fries , going to try onion rings next time."
