Skirt Steak pepito is a hit. Bread slightly cronchy, charred juicy steak cooked perfectly, lizano sauce is slightly tangy and very slightly sweet, and can't forget the beans. Dip the sandwich in their spicy green salsa and goooodnight zzz..zzz..zzzFWIW I also got the surf and turf platter & chips/salsa which were both excellent. But considering I'm a sandwich guy I'm just getting 2 steak pepitos next time. Cheers!

I love that they open the windows to allow air to circulate. Some time ago, I received a coupon for a free oatmeal shake. Perfect timing... it was yummy!!As always, clean environment & polite staff!!!Upon our arrival, I didn't see any other patron order or eat, so I assumed that they we're done eating. To my surprise, apparently their food hadn't arrived yet. No wonder it seemed like the time it took for our food took a bit longer than usual. Our food was delicious, although my rice could have been less salty for my taste. We also had the guacamole (No pic) ... yummmm!!!

First time trying a pepito, and I loved it! My dad got one as well, and he can be pretty critical, but he also thought it was great.Also got some empanadas. I liked the spinach and cheese. Not a fan of the beef and potatoes, but my dad liked it.Seating is indoors, but surrounded by large windows that they fully open when the weather is nice, so has an outdoor vibe. Went on a Tuesday at 5:30-6:30, and it wasn't too busy. We had a reservation for a party of 8, but probably didn't need it.I came with family (including small children), but would definitely be a great spot for dates, friend groups, etc.

Everything you need to know about Costa Rican food in Chicago is right here at Irazu. In fact, it might be the only fully Costa Rican food in Chicago, but don't quote me on that! There's lots to love and flavors and dishes you just can't find anywhere else. The vibe is great for catching up with friends, family and casual date nights, year-round but especially in the summer! The windows open up to the outside and the bright colors feel like vacation. The staff is incredibly attentive, portions are large and service is speedy and attentive. But what I love most about Irazú is the food. My husband and I agree - we'd take anyone we know to Irazu because the Latin sandwiches and plantains we ordered blew us away. Not to mention they have awesome cocktails. Street parking nearby was paid but easily available too. We love Irazu so much and highly recommend it!

I go here for the empanadas. The other food might be just as tasty, but the empanadas are my usual go to. I have tried the cheese and spinach, vegan and cheese and jalapeño ones. The vegan empanadas were a bit greasy, but flavored very well. The rest are fried perfectly. Both times I've gone I've gotten them to go. So I can't comment on the service other than the person who hands me the bag, does so with a smile.

Yes. Go here. Yesterday. Having been to Costa Rica and experiencing a mixed bag with their cuisine, I was skeptical when I came across this well-reviewed restaurant. I am a skeptic no more. The food (and the accompanying experience) was excellent.The open-air dining transported me back to Costa Rica and enjoying the drinks in the shade while being kissed by the breeze. Ok, that got nostalgic. What's true is that the food, service, and atmosphere are all exquisite. Give them a visit when you're in Chicago. 10/10

One of our favorite spots in Chicago! The food is always delicious, service is great, and the atmosphere is laid back and fun! We always start with a variety of empanadas. My favorite is the jalapeño and cheese and the plantain and cheese. The surf and turf burrito is amazing! There is so much steak and shrimp inside and it is always perfectly cooked and incredibly flavorful. The portion is also very large and makes for great leftovers! The Casado is also a great dish with a variety of flavors and textures. Don't forget to end with an oatmeal shake! They also do great catering! Love this place and will continue to return!
