This spot was founded in 2011 by Yut Vong, who transitioned from a career in political journalism to the food service industry! We got the spicy edamame, tater tots, hamachi and jalapeño small roll and the River Walk Roll! Look at the art work it comes with. Wow! All were excellent.I loved the buzz in this restaurant. It wasn't loud but everyone was conversing. Not a lot of people are on their phones. A nice change!"

Our waitress mentioned that the portions were small and recommended for us to get an appetizer/maki. We did as she recommended and we got the seared salmon roll. It was delicious but we didn't think we needed it, the amount of food that came with the restaurant week menu was sufficient.We had the following:Serrano chili maki - delicious and just the right amount of spicy.Wagyu beef dumplings - melt in your mouth delicious.We had 2 other appetizers but I can't remember their names. One of them was a white fish that was so good, perfectly seasoned and melted right in your mouth.For our entrees, he had the wagyu steak and I had the black cod. In my eyes, the cod was the clear winner. Probably the best cod I've ever had in my life. For dessert we had a lava cake with ice cream and chocolate pearls, also delicious. For drinks I had the Roka Fashioned, so so so so good! My husband had a mezcal drink that was delicious. Overall, highly recommend this restaurant. The food, drinks and service were top notch!"

Also a plus, the bathrooms are stocked with everything you need, including hair ties! Feels very personable. I got the chef seasonal nigiri selection and it did not disappoint! Each piece was well seasoned and some pieces even provided a smoky finish! The 10 day dry aged tuna nigiri sampler was also so delicious. The fish is on point here. I would come back here again! Just prepare to spend a pretty penny here, haha!"

For my experience, the waitlist did not open until 7:00pm on a Saturday, and we waited 90 minutes to be seated for a party of 3. Luckily, you can monitor your spot on the waitlist in the Yelp app, so we passed the time by waiting at a bar down the street.The food came out quickly and the ordering process was easy to understand. I'd give this a solid 4.5/5, rounding up to 5. Excellent service all around."

"I was this place was open for lunch during the week. Their Bento Box Lunch special is truly something special. I called in the order and was getting packaged up as I was arriving. They really have a great staff here. I ordered two Bento Boxes. One with Beef teriyaki, tekka maki, and a California maki. The other box was chicken teriyaki, kappa maki, and sashimi. The Bento boxes came with miso soup, salad and rice. I also ordered a Volcano maki roll which was very delicious. The beef teriyaki was good, but I preferred the chicken teriyaki. The side rolls were all good, but my favorite was the sashimi. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. I wasn't a big fan of the kappa maki and probably wouldn't order it again. I can definitely see myself coming back to try more of their sushi offerings."

"If I were to describe our experience here in one word, I'd say: AMAZING! We ate here on a Thursday night and opted to sit at the sushi bar so that we could watch the sushi chefs working their craft. Seeing the sushi chefs at work was a treat - they clearly had masterful knife skills, and this helped convince us to order more sushi mid-meal as well. We also got to chat with one of the sushi chefs briefly, which was fun!FOOD //+ Truffled Sake roll (5/5): if you love salmon like I do, this roll is for you!There's salmon in the roll, plus more salmon on top. The fish was incredibly smooth and buttery; it seemed very fresh and not previously frozen.The flavors were also on point, with the sesame chili and truffle honey coming together into an explosion of flavors with every bite. + Dragon roll (4/5): even though I'm normally not a huge fan of shrimp tempura in my rolls, I enjoyed this roll. I wish there had been a bit more unagi in each bite - some pieces had no unagi since it was layered on top, alternating with the avocado - but it was still good. + Chu toro (medium fatty tuna) hand rolls* (5/5): we found out from a friendly bar table neighbor that we could order hand rolls even though they were not listed on the menu, so we first got two chutoro hand rolls to try. The sushi chef gave us a delicious blend of soy sauce and fresh wasabi (with a few other ingredients) that was absolutely incredible with the hand roll. I ended up using the sauce on my remaining rolls too - it was so good!+ Spicy scallop hand rolls* (5/5): also very good! Personally I loved the Chutoro hand rolls more, partly thanks to that mouthwatering sauce, but this was also great.*Note on the hand rolls: we didn't ask for the price of these up-front, which we probably should have in hindsight to avoid any surprise upon seeing the bill. Each hand roll is more expensive than the nigiri/sashimi version. But the price made sense considering that the hand rolls have more fish in them. SERVICE + AMBIANCE //Service was pleasant and attentive. The restaurant has cool decorations and was playing lots of hip electronic dance music when we were there. (As an EDM fan, I approved.) Overall, Union Sushi + BBQ seems like a great spot for a date night, friends' night, or a treat yo'self night!"

I loved the wasabi shumai. They were different and had a really great flavor! The miso soup was piping hot. I almost burned my mouth multiple times. We had a couple salmon avocado rolls and half of a specialty roll. The sushi was really good! Everything was fresh! The rolls were packed well and didn't fall apart. I would come back to Umai! The food was really good! Definitely get the wasabi shumai!"

"I'm catching up on Yelp reviews that were due months ago, but better late than never. My friends and I came here on a Saturday night around 6pm and of course it was packed. So we put our name in for a party of 4, went down the street to the liquor store to buy beer, and waited inside for about an hour and a half for a table. Coast Sushi is BYOB and the atmosphere is dark and intimate. They have a ton of different rolls options here along with special rolls. We ended up getting a Sashimi plate to share and two rolls each. The sushi is fresh, flavorful, and the rice is not overwhelming. I think their sushi is amazing and some of the best I've had in Chicago. Everyone in the party really enjoyed the food. I was the only person who has been to Coast before and they thought my dinner recommendation was a great choice! Since it was a Saturday night at a peak time, we had to wait a long time for our table and a long time for our food. So I won't knock them down for that. The manager ended up giving us free edamame, which was a nice gesture. Prices are fair for sushi in Chicago. Overall, I think Coast Sushi is one of my favorite sushi places in Chicago!"

"This is a small mom and pop ramen spot. The inside is kind of dated but I personally prefer it that way, gives off old school home vibes. They have a live waitlist on Yelp, I highly recommend utilizing this to avoid a long wait time. The ramen is absolutely delicious and tasty. The broth tastes like it's been boiling and prepared for hours, it's very good. Ramen comes with lots of toppings without having to add more for an up charge. They do have them though. The price is reasonable, most places have crazy high prices for ramen these days and I appreciate this one not raising their cost like others. Service is fine - You are able to enjoy your meal with who you're with without their staff hovering over you. This has become one of my favorite ramen spots in the area!"

"Came here with my husband as we were wanting some sushi or Japanese style food. I've been wanting to come here since working downtown a while back, and since we were nearby we decided to finally go. Place was pretty empty when we came, but more diners came as we were finishing our meal. Service was good yet standard. Place had a nice chill ambience, and plenty of seating. I ordered a nigiri plate, and appreciated that I was able to ask that the sushi chef not prepare a certain fish for me, as well as making a substitution on my roll. My husband order a cod, and said he thoroughly enjoyed it. My sushi was fresh and the presentation was beautiful. A nice place to sit down and have some sushi or other Japanese dishes in Streeterville."

The Panang was also good, as was the Signature Curry which had a lot of filling in the sauce, some kind of crunchy noodle, potato, some kind of squash along with chicken. Could have used more sauce with all the filling. The prices at Indie Cafe are relatively reasonable, considering restaurant prices these days. The ambiance on one side of the restaurant is somewhat lacking. It seems a little cozier on the side to the north. We parked right in front at a metered spot."

The food at this location is just as good with much more options. My son ordered their tacos again, and my wife also order their Beef Bibimbap again. Both tasted just as good as the first time. I ordered their Crunch & Fire Sushi Burrito this time around. I've always wanted to try a sushi burrito and I'm glad I finally got to try one. It was really delicious but somewhat difficult to eat without using the wrapper to hold everything together. Would definitely order it again though."

Our server was very attentive and helpful in recommending certain dishes; we ordered a variety of appetizers and some special rolls, including the spicy tuna, king dragon, and mango gaga. The rolls are absolutely massive compared to other sushi venues, so I would order conservatively at first and decide if you need more. We ordered entrees of udon, chirashi, and whaeduhbop (korean sashimi salad over rice); unfortunately there was a hair in the whaeduhbop, but it appeared to be an honest mistake and the server apologized / re-ordered the dish. Aside from that little mishap, the food was great and the service was excellent - Best,Charlie"

"Okay so I've been here twice since my last review because this is starting to become a staple for me.My favs:The Tokyo sandwich (I think): so this is one of my fav things on the menu. It's mango, salmon and other stuff on a two slabs of rice. There's two sandwiches offered and I think this is the right one. The garlic yellow tail nigiri: 2 pieces of yellow tail seared and has garlic. THEY ARE SO GOOD.Creme brulee: what??? You must be joking. But I'm not. Their creme brulee is $6 and pretty solid portion. Honestly I'm such a creme brulee fiend that I may come back just for the creme brulee. This is not gonna be life changing but it surprisingly solid, and a reasonable price, and a decent size.Everything else I've had I loved. I just really like this place. I usually spend between $30-40 but leave fully full which is nice. I also think I may prefer it to all you can eat because there isn't a pressure to finish everything. You can just take it home."

My friend and I had a genius idea to send the girls on their own. We would walk them in and then go nearby to enjoy a dinner of our own.The day of the concert I got a little FOMO and thought maybe we should buy last minute tickets instead. We all put on our purple sequins just in case we ended up staying. Once we arrived it was such a teen scene (my teen was in heaven) that we decided dinner would be fun. We took a short uber ride to Sushi Dokku and were a bit early for our reservation, but since it was a Tues evening they had plenty of tables available for our party of (sparkly purple) 4.We started with some drinks (tequila/soda/lime for me) and apps:- The deviled eggs were delicious - edaname always a good call when waiting for sushiAnd then dinner...I ordered the seared salmon roll, which looked like it had the least amount of fried/crunch ingredients. I paired it with a house salad (love ginger dressing) and unagi sashimi. It was all great and I was super full, but the roll was too good not to finish.It had been awhile since I was at Sushi Dokku, but a good reminder about how great the sushi is in the city. Also fun to be out in the city on a Tuesday evening. We all agreed it was the best concert we didn't go to!"

"I have been to this restaurant a few times, and every time, I have had a good experience. Blufish serves excellent Japanese food with good variety and delicious flavors. It is an upscale, elegant establishment that is a great part of Vernon Hills' restaurant scene. In my most recent visit, I tried multiple dishes that included sushi rolls, sashimi, chicken karage, sashimi salad, okonomiyaki, scallops, and a saké drink. All the food I had was super tasty and good. The fish was fresh and had big chunks or pieces. The okonomiyaki, which is a savory Japanese pancake with seafood, was super yummy. It was my first time having it. The scallops dish, whose name I can't remember, was unique in taste and very good. The sushi rolls were big, and I liked how they were created. We received good service. The ambiance is nice. The restaurant is on the pricier side, but you do get your money's worth. I highly recommend checking out this restaurant if you haven't been here before."

For the very reasonable price for $5.50 for up to a mix of two different fruits, I was pleasantly surprised to see them use full fruit for the whole smoothie (instead of powders or other mix-ins and fillers). The taste of the drink reflected the amount of fruit they used the the lemon syrup was light and provided a nice way to make the drink a little more refreshing without adding too much sweetness. The boba in the drink was fairly chewy and there was a good amount provided, though maybe too much in the drink. Even with the extra boba, since the smoothie was 20 oz, there was still plenty of drink to enjoy."

Wife ordered a soft shell crab bao, but as they were out of bao's, they put the crab atop a salad and charged us $6 instead of $9, nice, again. She also had their salmon teriyaki lunch set ($26) and I had their chirashi bento set ($24). Both lunch sets came with a salad as well as 3 prime beef dumplings. I thought her lunch was a good value, and I thought my chirashi serving was on the skimpy side. However, given that it included a salad and 3 dumplings, and for $24, maybe it was more on the ok-grumbling as opposed to skimpy size. Taste was delicious and it was a nice lunch overall in any event.FYI and headsup - the booths are still on the tiny side and I'm not even super-fat. Also no 'mo Yelp check-in free amuse brioche deal."

"Kinta Sushi has one of those unassuming store fronts since it's tucked away in a small strip mall next to a convenient store and Chinese buffet, but they're actually pretty legit. We came in on a Saturday night and it was pretty empty, so it seems to be more of a take out spot.The portions are fairly generous at the price point and we've always had a good experience. All the servers are always hustling and make sure drinks are always topped off and the food comes out quickly.As someone with a more Americanized palate who doesn't typically eat more traditional sashimi/nigiri, I usually stick to the deep-fried specialty rolls. The King Kong and Miami rolls are my personal favorites. The other rolls our group usually recommends are the Cry Cry, Love Love, and Atlantic rolls.Overall, Kinta is a super reliable, local sushi spot. They are a small business with hard-working employees so I'd recommend to give them a shot."

The promised time was about an hour wait, which I thought was a little too long, especially when I arrived it didn't seem that busy for it to take that long. I did arrive a lot sooner than my promised time, hoping it would be close to be completed but still had to wait some time. They invited me to sit at the bar while I waited and offered me a drink and also gave me a glass of water. Outstanding top notch customer service. I ordered their Maki Combo. It came with their Tako Maguro, Ceviche and Sake Yaki. They were all delicious. My favorite was their Ceviche, then the Tako Maguro. Ceviche came with tuna, white fish and shrimp, spicy mayo and pineapple salsa. You get a nice fusion of tropical with sushi. Definitely a great combination. The Tako Maguro came with spicy octopus, and spicy tuna. It was definitely spicy, but a good spicy. And the Sake Yaki came with grilled salmon and almond. I also ordered a Miso Soup, but only because they would let me pay with a credit card unless it was $50 or more. The Maki Combo was $48. Was not a big fan of their credit card limit. It's definitely on the pricier side for what you get. The rolls are tiny. They're like bite size versions of standard making rolls. But these tiny little suckers are full of flavor. The quality and attention to detail is what you're paying for. While this isn't an everyday type of sushi place, I can definitely see myself returning."

"I heard about this restaurant from a YouTube tourist vlog on Chicago. Decided to give it a try while visiting Chicago, so glad we did ! Food was awesome, we were craving for some nice vegetarian food and this place didn't disappoint. It's close to River walk and many restaurants on that street . Service was good and cauliflower tofu sauté was sooo delicious ( tasted like Indian Chinese fusion food) , sushi was delicious and noodles were ok . Didn't like the momo dumplings, very soggy and green chutney on top of dumplings was tasting that well .Drinks were so refreshing and well presented..But we loved everything else we tried . If you are a tourist and looking for flavorful Asian fusion definitely give it a try ."

"Certainly there's a lot of sushi places around here. Enso is another, and it's among the good ones. It's surprisingly affordable, maybe because it's not that large of portions. About the only complaint is it's not exactly that much food. The sushi is fresh though. After looking around for a place to get sushi, we chose to come here. It's conveniently close to the Damen Blue Line. This place has a cool vibe. Kind of quiet. The prices aren't that bad, especially for around here where it's hipster stuff. It's about $6 for a basic roll. We got a few of these. Best one was the Avocado Roll. It was good in spite of being simple. An example of how good food doesn't need to be elaborate. The rolls were as fresh as food gets. For sure it's pretty easy to find sushi around here but it's harder to find it fresh and cheap. It's possible to get both here. There's also more on the menu such as gyoza, ramen, and other good Asian stuff."
