We called Tate's on a very busy Sunday morning to place a pick up order which went about as smooth as any take out order could be. It's been years since last patronizing this sweet little spot ~ and we are very happy we did. Given 15 minutes until done time, we arrived, the sandwiches were ready, and so were we. A mere two minute drive to Linden Avenue, with a lovely view of the river, we enjoyed our Tate's.The fried egg and cheese sandwiches were absolutely wonderful ~ and I will admit to being extremely egg-fussy. This is much more satisfying, more delicious then the usual fast food, microwaved, grossly over cheesed (the questionable orange stuff), dry as ____________ concoctions you are handed via a drive-up window. On your choice of bread, the eggs were fried to perfection, topped with just the right amount of American cheese. It was a good sized sandwich with great taste in every bite. Lovely staff work here who are so kind and accommodating, the prices are excellent and breakfast was superb.

Can you post a review for 0 stars? Ordered food for takeout: a waffle platter (golden waffle, turkey sausage links) and side of home fries (with peppers and onions). You know how a potatoes starts to get old and soft? They obviously cooked them anyway. They were dry with very hard, burnt pieces in it. The waffle seemed like it was old as well because it was It rubbery, and tasted bad. The sausage also tasted old and seemed to be undercooked. It didn't seem like they tried to brown it at all. It was just bad. Overall, the place seems to just pull old items out of storage and serve it. A lot of the reviews on here, hit the the nail right on the head. Honestly though, I don't know how they even have 3 stars. I honestly don't how they are still in business. It's probably the worse place I've even eaten at. Really. I considered taking the food back, not to get my money back or a replacement but to show management what they are actually trying to pass off as food but I didn't think they'd care very much. At least I only spent $15,Soooo....in the trash it all went. [she wipes her hands]

I wanted to try a new Breakfast place and saw Tate's Good Food Restaurant on DoorDash and decided to give it a try. I was especially thrilled since I ordered this at literally 6:30 AM (I feel like a lot of Breakfast establishments are not open that early).I ordered the S'mores Muffin, Infused Waffle Sandwich with Turkey Sausage, egg, and Provolone Cheese, and an Iced Coffee with Caramel, Cream, and Sugar.I was pleasantly surprised that they put the cream and the sugar in my coffee for me which I appreciated! I wasn't a huge fan of the coffee (but probably because I'm so used to Dunkin' Donuts iced coffees lol). The presentation of the S'mores Muffin was phenomenal!!! The waffle sandwich is GINORMOUS and so filling, I saved half of it to eat for Lunch later. It is so delicious and they even provide syrup packets to dip into! 10/10 highly recommend!!! :)

Philadelphia is known as a city of neighborhoods with good reason. There are many small enclaves with their own identity and distinct character with residents fiercely proud of where they come from. One of the best aspects of this street by street, hood by hood, awareness, especially from a Yelp perspective, is the presence of wonderful local shops, bars, and restaurants that maintain that sense of community every day of the week. Tate's Good Food Restaurant on Torresdale Avenue, in this corner of the city that shares the name, is one such iconic luncheonette that serves both the gastronomic needs of the area, and supports the people with quality breakfasts and lunches and a place to gather and commune together (shoot the sh*t). It is replete with folks who have lived nearby for generations, and frequent this small institution regularly. Yes. Everyone knows your name. With this in mind, I stopped in for breakfast and took in the deep rooted atmosphere of this iconic establishment. I sat on a spinner along the counter, after checking out the tables on the opposite wall. A solo diner, I did not want to take up that much space, and after all, this was what a stool was for. Within seconds, I was called, "Babe," by one of the servers working the counter and floor, and, "Sweetie," by another, as she asked if I wanted coffee. She replied when I asked if she was talking to me - "Whatever works, right, Babe?" "That's cool. I just didn't want the other guys at the counter to get jealous." With that, one of those old dudes looked over at me with a stern gaze, and retorted, "She WAS talking to me, but, I don't mind if you thought it was you." Wink I knew I was in the heart of Philly. The menu was all about breakfast and lunch (they close around 2). I went with the french toast, a side of corned beef hash and java. It arrived about 10 minutes later on an oval plate, with the hash on a second dish. I moved things around to get everything onto one before doctoring with butter and syrup. The meal was filling and satisfying. Six slices well egged and grilled. No real caramelization, but very tasty nonetheless. The hash was excellent. Deep savory flavor, a little crunchy. A great match for the sweeter fry bread. The Bunn-O-Matic brewed a strong industrial joe which was replenished as often as requested. A small glass of real milk per my wish to avoid the heavier half & half. Tate's is another of those classic kitchens from a bygone era that have survived and even flourished. It is as authentic today as it was in the last century. It feels dated, but that is one of the two main reasons to come to a joint like this - For the wholesome hearty grub and to experience a living cultural museum.

I'm half and half. This place is so cute and a great atmosphere the staff is so great and friendly. However, the time management isn't great at all I waited 45 mins for a western omelette and no it wasn't busy as all. Overall food and service was spectacular. They should work on time manager management I think it would be more success

Pack your patience (lots of it) if you plan on dining here; it's going to be a while. Pleasant ambience and staff. Feels like they are playing at running a restaurant, rather than running a restaurant. Manager should shave and at least pretend he's in the business.

I don't even know where to start. I ordered breakfast this morning at 9:32 and the time to be delivered was 10:15-10:25 (yes I know that's estimated and sometimes it's busier than usual) but I received a call from the restaurant at 10:45 claiming they didn't have something from my order if it could be replaced with something else, I said yes even though I'm frustrated already since that is now over an hour since I ordered and it's just now being made. Around 11:10 my husband called because we were 20 minutes away from 2 hours and he didn't want it anymore and we had to call 3-4 times to get an answer. The ladies that answered the phone were very very rude and the cook claimed our order just came in and was on the grill, 2 HOURS LATER. Long story short money was refunded and I will never order from there again! And to make matters worse we order every Sunday from this place. I am a very understanding person but the way they spoke to my Husband was unprofessional.
