Was back in Phillip last month for a play. The weather prevented us for grabbing a pre-theatre meal, as we arrived to the Forrest theatre minutes before curtain call. After the show food was a must, but we also really needed to head back to NYC. I remembered One Pound Cheesesteaks and their late hours. We plugged it into the GPS and headed over. Same rules apply, order at the side-walk window, then grab and go. Of course I opted for chicken (because I don't eat red meat) and a few toppings. Our orders were up quickly since it wasn't too busy. I remember my chicken philly having more flavor and a better season profile in the past. However, One Pound still serves the purpose of late night eats. This spot doesn't give any flash or fuss like others might, but it's definitely still a competitor, especially after hours. They will remain on my list of "must stop" when visiting or driving anywhere close to Philly, but now just for late night grub.Just A Note:I previously said: "Do not be discouraged by the area" well, the area has received some improvements since my last visit. With new highway infrastructure and new development, this may or may not be a good thing. I'll leave that for the locals to decide.

Ignore the bad reviews from uninformed consumers and jealous competitors. I always have a great experience here despite the lower class neighborhood and low-end ingredients. Ironically, I was a chef at high-end restaurants. You must buy in person and not rely on delivery, which will result in leaking grease, cold food, mangled ingredients, and disappointment. The cheesesteaks have cheap, imported beef that needs to be chopped into thousands of pieces in order to be made edible. But they are delicious nonetheless. The Italian rolls are fantastic. All of the cheeses used are tasty. I always get grilled onions on the side so that I can add them as desired. The fries are scrumptious despite being pre-frozen. Most of the other food is also yummy. I always park close to Kensington Avenue on nearby East Oakdale Street, and walk the mere half block. It is a one way street, so you will need to enter from Jasper Street, which is also one way. The neighborhood is not the nicest but is on the way up, maybe way up to the point of gentrification. As evidence thereof, click the photo to see the beautiful U-Haul building across the street. The service is fast and friendly. The prices are quite possibly the lowest in the city considering the gargantuan amount of food received. I always enjoy the food and, believe it or not, the ambience. I have fun on steroids. One Pound Cheesesteaks is a Philly legend for a reason. If you navigate the back roads when I-95 is jammed, as I do, you absolutely must stop at this Philly legend. You are not going to receive the high-end ribeye sold at the pricier steak shops like P*** and T*** L****. But if you like delicious blue collar food that will not break the bank, this is your joint.

Mediocre at best. I used to live near this spot but never tried it. So today my lunch crew and I all go meals. First off everything arrived covered in wing sauce with holes in the bag. I know you're gonna say it's the drivers fault but if you put it in a container that doesn't close that it's your fault. The wings reminded me of Freddy Kruger's face. Like these were cooked. I even like my wings a little crisp. So it's hard for me to imagine a wing that is too cooked. The salad was weak AF. Lettuce, a tomato and large cubes of fatty chicken. It was literally all the extra toppings left over from the cheesesteaks. Both the blue cheese dressing and the ranch tasted pretty much identical. One was just chunky. It was strange. The actual cheese steaks made me question how they are measuring a lb. Maybe the scale starts at .5. It's not the worst cheesesteak place but I doubt I'll be back.

One Pound Cheesesteaks is a late night savior for late night revelers, night shift employees, first responders and anyone else who finds themselves on the rough streets of the "Badlands" after most normal businesses have closed for the evening. I have been here many times and have always enjoyed the experience. This is not a "celebrity" cheesesteak joint (thank God), you won't see a Food Network episode of here (that will probably never happen), but you will get a solid product here. I recommend getting an order of pizza fries to go with your cheesesteak. It is a walk up type place. Walk up to the window, order your food type deal. I never had an issue with the service and always enjoyed the food.As I said, it is in an area of Philadelphia known as the "Badlands" so you won't find too many tourists standing in line. This is definitely a neighborhood that will have you wondering how safe your car will be if it is out of sight. But you will find a solid cheesesteak at a great price. Oh, and don't forget the pizza fries.

This 2ft cheesesteak lasted me quite a while! Alright amount of meat, a soft long roll and even though cheese was extra $, they added it anyway which I appreciated! Hamburger roll was also alright, and I enjoyed both.

I travel through Philadelphia everyday for work. Every time I passed One Pound Cheesesteaks I always wanted to stop, but never did. I happened to be commuting right by one day and stopped. I got there at 11:45am. I then quickly realized that they do not open until 12. I waited until 12 and approached the building. Although they weren't ready, a server came out and took my order. I had a small cheesesteak with American cheese and an order of fries. It took longer than expected, but I realize I was the first order of the day. By the time my food was ready there was a line of customers waiting to order. I estimate it took roughly 20 min. There is no inside seating but there are a few tables outside. I had to order to go, as it was 100 degrees that day.I found the cheesesteak to be average at best. It wasn't overly stuffed with meat as I expected. The fries were good, and the portion was also pretty large.Being from the area; there are plenty of other options that have a tastier cheesesteak. It is also located in a "rough" part of town, so I wouldn't go out of my way to get there.

It was my first time in Philly, so I had to get a Philly cheesesteak to kick off the trip. I arrived pretty late, and this place was the only place that was still open with decent reviews. The portion size was decent, but I was overall unimpressed. I wasn't a fan of the bread because it was too hard/chewy, and the steak didn't have that much flavor. It also could have used more cheese.
