NY Gyro Lunch

Solid lunch option adjacent to UPenn and HUP.Really enjoyed my lamb over rice. Great spot to grab some food and find a nice park bench to eat and watch the world go by.

This place is a gem. A small, nondescript food cart along Spruce Street in University City, NY Gyro Lunch provides the tastiest lunches I've ever had in the area. You know these shows on Food Network like "Best Thing I Ever Ate?" File this one under Best Thing I Ever Ate- Cheap Eats and Unexpectedly Delicious. The Chicken Gyro is phenomenal, but its the chicken and rice that's the real star of the show. Juicy, perfectly-spiced chicken with rice, salad, AND a drink for $6? You can't beat it. Remember to get both white (tzatziki) and hot sauce - they compliment each other perfectly.

This is one of the many Halal trucks in the area. If you like the kind of food Halal trucks serve, you would probably like their food. But if you don't like Halal food trucks or spicy food, it is better that you avoid it.The unique thing about this truck is that it serves free bevarage with even the $4 gyros. All other Halal trucks offer free soda with only the $5 "over rice/salad platters".

The food is cheap and pretty fast. It's one of the only food trucks to stay open around dinner time, which is nice when I work late and then am not going home. They accept venmo as payment.
