"I got here around noon and saw three ladies busy cooking. I could tell that it's for a big order by the smell and the smoke from the food that filled this small taqueria. The exhaust system must not be working and I was surprised that the fire alarm wasn't triggered. One order of the tacos consists of 3 soft tortilla tacos filled with the fillings of your choice and the toppings. Plus a big whole jalapeño, cactus, radish, and lime slices. You definitely will not regret paying $9."
"I've had a slight El Gordo addiction ever since I tried it a few weeks ago. IThey have three locations: Collegeville, Norristown, and KOP. At the Norristown location, I ordered two $1.50 beef tacos, and it came with a side of beans and chips. Service is always prompt and speedy. The tacos at El Gordo is particularly indulgent with a delightful flavor blast that pleases the senses. The homemade green and red sauce pair well with the tacos. I thoroughly enjoy every meal I've had at El Gordo, and I don't think my addiction can be kicked anytime soon!"

"The food here is great!! I love love their nachos! Love the picked onions and the "expensive cheese" that they use lol. The burrito my husband got had a little too much rice and beans. Their chicken tinga is flavored well. Ive also had their korean inspired dishes and loved the fusion flavor. I have gotten food through door dash and also sat their to eat and both experiences were good! Great mexican food in the neighborhood."
"This was very close to being a very good cheesesteak. We got the Royal cheesesteak. Nice cheese melted on top and toasted roll. But, the roll blew out. It had a good amount of extras but they needed more grill time and a better mix. I am still undecided about $12."
"Delicious tacos and awesome service! We especially loved the el pastor tacos and will definitely be back."
"Very authentic Mexican food. We used to come here when we first moved here, but just came here again recently reminds me how amazing this place is. I love when Mexican place gives free chips and salsa. I'm always hungry waiting for my food, so chips and salsa already put me in a better mood haha. I ordered Al pastor tacos and shrimp tostada. Al pastor taco is good, but not outstanding. However shrimp Tostada is SO GOOD. It's not what I've expected at all, it's very refreshing. Service is great as well. Will 100% come back again."
"If you ever lived in University City, you KNOW this is the best burrito and taco spot in the area. Even to this day whenever I visit University City, I HAVE to go and get myself Don Memos. The line for this food truck is unlike any other. I especially love the al pastor burrito. It's operated by two brothers / a family (I think) and they are ON TOP of their burritos and tacos -- they are the real deal! PRO TIP: 1. Get their phone number and you can call ahead so you don't have to wait in line 2. Need cash!!! ALL FOODTRUCKS ARE CASH!!"
"I came in here after seeing Craig Laban's post on Instagram. He recommended al pastor tacos and he is right. My husband and my father in law enjoyed their al pastor. I ordered birria tacos available only on Friday and Saturday. This place is small but can accommodate at least three groups of customers. There are a lot of construction area in the neighborhood, so parking can be a challenge. The owner is very friendly and welcoming. It was a cold day so she put a space heater near our table. On the shelves on the wall there are masks of luchador/wrestler. She explained that before Covid people took pictures with the masks.Guacamole and chips are fresh. The only dessert available was tres leches. I hope they make the flan an churros as printed on the menu Birria tacos: it's pretty good served with hot consommé in a small cup with chunks of meat in it. One of my tacos had chunks of fat that I removed. The tortilla wasn't as crispy as I expected."
"11/25/22 My son lives near this new location. I've been to El Volcan on Ridge Pike. Abraham was our server and he's very pleasant- in fact- I remember him from last visit at their other location. For me to remember him is saying something- he's got a great attitude and makes you feel like a guest in his home.We chose to eat in- there are around 8 tables or so to enjoy indoor dining. The outside doesn't do the inside justice! This location used to be "Freshies" and the name is still evident in the cement platform to the entrance. There is also a small parking lot at the rear. One way in and one way out so be aware not to miss the entrance. I ordered steak nachos for the table. My daughter had these before at the other location and raved about them. These were so savory and delicious and brimming with heaps of steak, tomato, crema, cheese, beans etc. oh and guacamole - can't forget that! For entree I enjoyed the steak burrito in a red sauce (very mild)- I liked the sauce but I would go with the delicious tomatillo sauce next time. Husband got Chorizo enchiladas which he thoroughly enjoyed. I have heard their Chile Relleno is legendary although I did not try it.Please support this growing business. I'm told the owner, Jose uses his mothers recipes. I love businesses like that especially. Keep up the 5 star cooking, 5 Star ingredients and I foresee more success in the future!"
"I went to the coffee shop they have downstairs at the MOTTO Ordered a horchata latte. And a ham and cheese empanada. Omg the empanada is so good. Flaky and there was salsa roja inside it when i took a bite. I definitely recommend! If i come back to PHILLY I'll go again. Perfect service."
"Last night was our first time checking out Prima Pizza Taqueria Mexicana and I can't believe it took us so long to discover this place. They do not have a website, so we called in our taco orders using old menu pictures uploaded to Yelp.Like many taco places, the tacos come in threes and cost about $12 per order. They do not have guacamole and chips, but for authentic and delicious tacos this good, you want to make room for more tacos and eat chips and guacamole another day.Of course, I had to get my lengua tacos, which were good and more flavorful than Los Gallos'. The Surtida, which consisted of lengua, chicharron, pig ear and tripe, was something new we haven't seen before, and had to get. The Surtida did not disappoint and is something we'll be getting more of. The Campechanos is a mix of carnitas, asada, and chorizo, which I expected to be really good, but it was just okay. All the meat components seemed to be overpowered by the chorizo, and all I could taste was chorizo. We'll definitely be back to try their other offerings. Also, they are cash only so make sure to bring cash!"
"I am so excited to have this spot open up right around the corner from my house. You don't have a lot of good restaurants in this area. Le Bus is good, In Riva went down hill after the flood and black squirrel suxxx. So thank you so much for opening and on top of that it is delicious! My favorite part was the lime mousse with cookie crumbles. That was one of the best deserts I've had. We also got Churros which were perfectly crispy. We started with pineapple Guacamole. That was delicious. Not a large dish though. Which actually turned out to be a good thing since everything else was so large. We both got margaritas. Mine non alcoholic and hers alcoholic. Mine was excellent. She didn't think hers was alcoholic enough. I got the Cemita with the slow roasted pork. It was something I've never seen at any other Mexican restaurant. We sat at the front bar that is just open to the street. It was a beautiful view. Perfect date night with my wife. We will be regulars."

2nd time here. This place is close to my house and open till 2 am! Even Christmas Eve they did open. 1 st time I order was nacho and birria both ok. Not bad but not so good also less volume than some place after that i avoided order. But 2nd time was Christmas Eve don't have many choice after watching at miracle on 13th street. Around 11 they still open. This time cooker was different person! At home open the box it was different. Looks so attentive also more food. More tasty. I mean meat taste little different . I am so glad I choose here and they are open. I really recommend order nachos! It was tasty and fulfill my very hungry stomach. 1thig is both time I want to have lengua but they don't have it. May be late to order? If you don't have them regularly why still in a menu? Or always I will forget my hav meat??

Some of the best tacos in the area.Skip the $1.50 taco on Tuesdays as the amount of protein has shrunk over time but order the regular tacos which are about $3.50 and they are about 2x the meat and more satisfying.Small quesadilla is quite large and yummy.Carne asada, carnitas and Al pastor are the best.

We enjoyed this place after our original spot ran out of food haha. This place was on our list and was nearby on a rainy day so we stopped in. Let me preface by saying I've been to this place twice now, it isn't super packed and the staff is very friendly, they're appreciated. It's a nice mix of bar and table, and because it's not crowded it's quiet enough to enjoy a conversation. On to the food! The mango margarita is pretty good, nice drink to have that doesn't include alcohol. The Tachos are no more (found out on my second trip but I imagine the nachos are prob good since they have the same toppings). The star of the show and I didn't get a picture because I inhaled them, the short rib birria tacos. Good taco, juicy with some consomé, 3.5-4/5.

Heck yes!!! Late night solid meat lovers pizza. They put the meat under the cheese and made it more flavorful with less falling toppings. I would absolutely go here again. No pic cause we tore that pizza up! Huge menu. It's South Philly so whatever your cultural food you have to add Pizza. This was Mexican and pizza and they did it right! Fast service and pizza was done frfr. Family store, open till 4a and definitely my new little hot spot down SoPhilly

On a late night hunt for food I stumbled into EI Limon. There are few to little options for anything of substance in the Chestnut Hill after 9pm so I was quite surprised to see this restaurant open.I walked into El Limon with little to no expectations and have nothing but praise for their scrumptious options!ENVIRONMENTIt was brought to my attention by one of the cooks that the restaurant has been in operation for less than a week. It shows as the floor was spotless and the tables were neatly arranged at store closing. To be honest, I was a bit trepidatious as I tend to gauge the quality of restaurant's on smell. If you walk through the door, the scents of the food should shake your core. El Limon didn't meet that criteria but this is one of few times my smell test has failed me.FOODI ordered a pollo burrito(tomatillo) and my LAWD were the portions large. For less than $12 I was gifted a burrito that could feed two and if your appetite is tiny maybe even a few. The sauce was rich and the ingredients were fresh making each bite a delight.I'll most certainly be paying this restaurant just to make sure it wasn't a fluke. If your looking for Mexican in the Chestnut Hill area, this might be your best bet.Happy eating!

I'm all about trying new places as I explore my temporary pescatarian lifestyle and found this place. I ordered a fish burrito and churros. The service was immaculate. I called my order in and the lovely woman who answered was very patient and made great recommendations. When I arrived to pick up my order, you could tell that this is a place run by a friendly family. The environment was welcoming and they are very attentive to customers. They make your food exactly how you want it to ensure satisfaction. My food was ready when I arrived. I didn't realize all of the things that came with my burrito until I got home. There was a side of rice and beans in addition to my massive burrito. She included a bunch of sauces for me to try as well. All items were tasty and I was full just from eating half of it. Though I was stuffed, I still had to try my churros. They came with a caramel sauce. I usually love churros all on their own but this sauce took this experience over the edge! El Taquito is a place I will be returning to. I plan to try the guacamole next time.

Food: 4.75 Out of 5Burrito was perfectly executed. Enough said.Service: 4 out 5Unfortunately because of the size of the trailer we put in our order and had to wait 45 minutes to get our burrito.Environment: N/A Overall: 4.75 Out of 5This burrito was nostalgic. I thought every piece of item in this burrito was made with time and care. Brought me back to the burritos I would get at the local taquerias in CA.

There's no sign out front, but just follow the digital "open" sign in the window into this cute little byob and get ready for some serious authentic flavor. There is about 10 tables in this small, quaint restaurant. The decor is warm and inviting, and the staff is so nice and accommodating. I placed an order for pick up for my wife and I on a Saturday. The order was ready in ten minutes. We got the steak quesadillas, tacos al pastor with beans, cheese and avocado, and steak tacos. Everything was amazing. From the meat to the tortillas, we're talking creme de la creme here. This is the real deal people! The flavors are so incredible that my wife had to tell me to keep quiet because I kept making ridiculous moan sounds after every bite. The meat was so soft, tender and delicious. The tacos were as good as they get. The quesadillas were some of the best I ever had. The corn tortilla was fresh and uniquely thin. The cheese was so delicious. And the seasoning was Godsend. Get. The. Quesadillas! The tacos al pastor were so good without the beans, so I just ate the beans as a soup. I highly recommend doing that. The broth for the beans is amazing. I am already craving all of the flavors from this place. So glad it's in the neighborhood!

"Tamalexian--verb.Of utmost deliciousness; hearty and homecooked. The best food in Philly, period."
"Excellent sit-down Mexican restaurant. Cash only. Full bar. We came for tacos, so tacos we had. We had chicken, pork, beef cheek, and oyster. Oyster tacos were a special that day, and special they were. Fried oysters were briny and delicious. I'd get those any time they are offered. The cabeza was also good. I can't wait to return and explore more of the menu, like the huaraches."
"Fun atmosphere in the heart of town with solid Mexican food. The place had a great vibe and was fun to sit on the second floor and to be able to people watch."
"Good food. Friendly service. I don't like the layout of the menu. Room was lacked light to the point you can't see the menu. Sitting elsewhere would have solved that but Manager was out so they couldn't turn on half the lights. The taco was very good. The Sope wasn't. The shrimp quesadilla was okay. We had to ask for a drink refill. They are new and we will give them another shot. It's more 3.5 stars. This is the fourth restaurant in this space in 12 months. I mention that because the three, including this one were/are Mexican restaurants."
"I love this restaurant! I normally go for happy hour but went for brunch recently. The server was great and offered several recommendations to the menu. 1. They have buck a shuck on a brunch - you cannot ask for more. The Yucatán mignonette was refreshing and the oysters are huge 2. Both the Benedict and the chilaquiles were out of this world - bursts of complex flavor, perfectly cooked eggs, huge portions. I cannot wait to return!"
"This unassuming spot consistently serves some of the best Mexican food I've had in Philly. It's the only place in the city where I've had a decent taco, the burritos and nachos also excellent, and the salsa is top notch. Seems like a family run spot, so I'm happy to support them. Bonus points for offering online ordering. The food is ready pretty quickly also. Seriously, I swore off getting tacos in Philly until trying this place. Definitely give them a shot!"
"You MUST get the churros at Pancho's. Hot, crisp, not too sweet, cream-filled, with a delectable chocolate dipping sauce, they were the star of the meal. The fish burrito I got was solid, too, though personally I wish it were cheesier/saucier. The quality of the ingredients and the flavors were pretty good though. Came with fresh, thick tortilla chips and some green salsa and hot sauce. Service was decently friendly and fast. The place is kind of small with only like five tables, and not super decorated, but it gets the job done. Really solid Mexican spot, though with Fishtown prices. The churros are so worth it, though. Please take this as a sign to go try them immediately."
"Big portions. Good service. Good food.Esquites Guacamole $16 lots of chips and good amount of dipOptopus Al Pastor $16 soft, flavorful, potatoes that came with it was a nice touchBrisket Enchiladas $17 came out nice and hot! Be careful! Was good.Sweet Plantains $8 great snack even after taking it home for the next dayEverything we ordered was great portion size to share among the two of us."
"I like having local alternatives to Chipotle. Their bowls are great and they have a wide variety of sauces to choose from, something I appreciate. You can get other stuff like burritos as well, and everything is build-your-own style. The price also isn't bad for what you get. I enjoy it here."
"Came here with my partner for a lil taco celebration this weekend. I come for the margs and tacos but I stay because I love the vibez. Who doesn't love tacos, nachos, margaritas ?!Well besides my partner who doesn't drink during Ramadan so it was spirit-free for him. He tried the tropical avocado Fresca and the prickly pear lemonade. Yumm!!I'm normally a Cadillac Margarita girl as long as it's 100% blue agave and no box mix I'm good to go. I was a sucker for the Aztec Old Fashioned though and it was a great choice.Tuna tacos to die for. Overflowing with tuna. All the other tacos I tried I loved and pour me some of that hot salsa please.Staff was great and friendly. Happy to be there!"
"Staff? Lovely. Food? Godly. The birria tacos were so juicy I almost shed a tear - drench it with sauce and dunk it in the soup. The chicken quesadilla were surprisingly light yet full of flavor. I think this may be my new favorite Mexican in Philly. Till next time, mi amor, Cafe Ynez."
"Authentic Mexican food at low prices, Taqueria Puebla provides an excellent lunch option.Day 2 of Jury Duty, and it's time to take advantage of all these Mexican restaurants surrounding the courthouse. It's about a block away in a simple location on Main Street. It seems like they don't much out-of-towner business, as the staff seemed confused why I was coming in. They have an excellent three taco deal for $8-9, with me opting for the pollo (chicken), the Cabeza (beef head), and the Al Pastor (spicy pork). Double tortillas with fresh veggies on top of succulent meats, you get your choice of red or green sauces along with the dish. This place is criminally under-priced for the quality of the food they serve. It's worth the extra walk to give Taqueria Puebla Restaurant a try."
"Thank you, Andrea F, for leading the way to Plaza Garibaldi! I'd had this spot bookmarked for a while based on Andrea's review, and I finally placed an order for delivery one night earlier this week. I went with the chicken enchipocladas which was a tasty and hearty choice. There were three corn torillas stuffed with shredded chicken and topped with chipotle sauce, sliced avocado and a light sprinkling of queso fresco, plus a swizzle of sour cream. This was a nice, lighter alternative to enchiladas. On the side, I received a container with pico de gallo, rice and refried beans, plus a small bag of tortilla chips and two salsas. The meal itself was only twelve bucks but delivery plus tip put the total slightly above $20. Considering I got two meals out of it, that was fine with me. I might deviate to other menu items next time as I felt like I was missing a bit of texture. Overall, excited to have a new option for Mexican delivery!"
"10/15/20 excellent experience here today! Beautiful bright decor but a little plain. Maybe they'll add more!Shrimp Tacos were fabulous!!"
"Made a trek out here for a Friday lunch with three co-workers. A group of us have decided to search out good Mexican places for lunch. One of the group suggested this little hole in the wall. Now, one of the guys in our group is from Texas, and incredibly particular about his Mexican food. So I'll take his opinion as gospel. I will say first of all that he approved. The chips and salsa were like this... the chips were fresh and crunchy with no salt. The red salsa had probably too much kick and not enough flavor if you know what I mean. The green salsa was more of a hit. We also tried guacamole, and although it tasted good, it had too much of a tomato and onion ratio to avocado. That is, not enough avocado for my tastes. We all got various dishes. Everyone seemed pleased. The guys got combo dishes with two or three things on them. I went for the Huevos Rancheros and a couple of pupusas. The huevos plate was $6 for a huge portion with rice. Can't complain about that. The sauce on the huevos had a lot of bite to it but that was a good thing. I'm a fan of the pupusas as they had a good amount of pork in them. The Texas guy called it some of the best he had so far in our area, so that's high praise. It also pleased one of the group who does not usually eat Mexican food. So again, high praise to impress someone who doesn't usually go for it. If there's one area that elicited disappointment, it's that two of the guys weren't' a fan of the tamales on their plates (including the Texas guy). They thought they were dry and not that tasty. So it's 4 stars instead of 5. But it's a pretty solid 4."
"Loco Pez just gets better with time. We've been coming for happy hour the past few Tuesdays or Thursdays because the drinks are always solid. The nachos could be better but they are also solid. I need to try their burrito because the tacos don't do it for me, but the drinks, nachos and tres leches? They are certified."
"Buena Vista offers delicious traditional food in a decorative and fun environment! Our food came quickly and they had a top notch margarita with lots of options. Definitely a local business vibe and located in a family-friendly neighborhood. Portions were large and the staff were friendly! Would definitely recommend for a delicious casual meal and drinks in Philly."
"I had a great dinner here today! And bonus... they have happy hour every day of the week, even for table service, from 4-6. They have some awesome food and drink deals!I had the blood orange margarita and it was DELISH! Tart and not too sweet. The queso fundido was awesome and came with flour tortillas. We got the chips and salsa too, because I like to put the queso on chips too! Everything was served warm and I could tell the chips and tortillas were homemade. For my entree, I had the fish tacos. The mahi mahi was perfectly crispy! I loved the chipotle aioli on it. It added a bit of a kick!I was too full for dessert, but the table next to us got churros and they looked amazing! I will have to get them next time :)"
"The best taco truck in the city of Philadelphia, I kid you not! I must have been here at least 3 times last week. The more taco places I ate at, the more Taco Loco stood out. The tacos here range from $2.50 to $2.75 and they load it with meat every time. My favorite was always the al pastor, their spicy pork marinated in pineapple tacos. The pork was packed with flavor and the pork fat helped caramelized the crust and crisp up the meat on the pan. The owner Carlos is just an awesome guy. He always served up my food with a smile. With the exception of maybe Blue Corn, I don't believe any other spots in the city can really compare to their al pastor tacos. Cheap eats, great service and absolutely delicious food, five stars. If you are going to order a lot however, make sure you call ahead, they are always busy so the wait can be long."
"Tio Flores came through on a busy Sunday a few hours before kick off. We were lucky to get a table for 4 since there were a few reservations being held around the time that we arrived. Our sodas and beers were quick to come out and our food was not far behind. The vibe was right and the service was friendly. This is not your typical cheesy Mexican food, it was like a fresh kick where the nachos had bright colors and pickled peppers on top with a tasty crumbly cheese rather than your typical nacho goopy cheese (which I love, but it's nice to change it up)! There was a bar with a couple of TVs, looked like there were about 12 barstools, so we didn't miss a minute of the earlier games. I would recommend Tio Flores to anyone looking to step it up from your typical sports bar."
"Stopped by Mission Taqueria for happy hour (4-6pm). I arrived at 4:15pm and it was not busy but by 5:30pm it was packed. I ordered from the happy hour menu ( nothing I ordered was over $7)- the strawberry sangria, 2 chicken tacos, ESQUITES, rice& beans, and QUESO GRINGO. Everything was delicious! It was a mixed crowd from business men in suits to college students."
"Okay I ate everything too fast to take a picture of everything I ordered but everything tasted absolutely delicious! I docked a star because I instructed for certain toppings to not be on my burrito but it's all good I'm not super pickey however my friend is so this ruined their experience. The corn was a little spicy but definitely the highlight of my meal. Love the vibe here and will return for yet another yummy experience!"
"Really good. This place is tucked back in a plaza but it is so worth searching it out. The food is fresh and tasty. The staff were friendly and super fast in preparing my take out order. I got the barbacoa quesadilla with a side of guacamole and beans. The guacamole has diced jalapeno in it so just a word to the wise if you don't like a little bit of heat. Everything is so good."
