"Came here with a party of 20 and they sat us upstairs. Service was fast and efficient with drinks, apps, and entrees.Mixto - great way to try a lot of different things. Empanadas we're nice but not the flakey kindGuacamole - pretty standardOctopus - thinly sliced a charred. Was not expecting the potatoSeafood mofongo - flavor was nice and I liked the texture of the mofongo. Seafood was a bit over cooked though and some of my mussels were bad"
"Was looking for some good woman owned restaurants to try and found this spot. Really good Caribbean food! The cornbread is pretty pricey at $6 for one square but at least it tasted good. Usually I have to add butter but this one had the perfect combo of butter and honey already. The wings were good but could've been cooked a little longer. The Rasta pasta was absolutely delicious. I've never had Rasta pasta before but I will definitely order it again. I had the one with chicken but I'm definitely gonna try shrimp next because it was so good."

"So we were chilling on my front porch today because it was beautiful out. All that yip-yappin' and jaw-jackin' got us hungry. Earlier we were talking about really wanting Caribbean food today. There a place a stones throw from me that I like but I was feeling super comfy and unwilling to walk the 20 minute round trip. So we jumped on Grubhub. This place was one of the top so we both got the jerk chicken meal. $19 each. The other place I like round the way is like $12 so I was like Ugg this kinda sucks. When I got it and tried it though I was not upset. This food was great. The jerk chicken has a little sweetness to its BBQ which is my jam. The rice and beans were a little spicy. Great together. The Mac and cheese was awesome. The food is two meals worth. Also they delivered super quick and had their own car! Damn this place must be making bucks. So now I don't think I'll do the cheap place again."
"This place never disappoints. I recommend calling the food in just to minimize the weight because they get busy! But they definitely move quickly! The food is amazing. From the fried fish to the jerk chicken and oxtails, the beef patties to the rice and peas and everything in between...nothing has been bad. It's not a big place so I recommend getting your food to go. The portions are a decent size too and prices are fair. This is definitely my go to spot for Jamaican food!"
"I got the veggie wrap with cabbage because they ran out of callalloo and it was soooooo good. I've never had a wrap with plantain in it. Great vegetarian/vegan option."
"The music made me want to dance !! I went with my cousin on a Sunday, and the 90's reggae as jumping ! I loved it. The food was great, I got jerk wings as an appetizer, Yum! And Salmon, rice and plantains for my entree. So good !!! We sat at the bar and Calvin (I believe) was very attentive and had a great Jamaican accent We ended our meal with a beautiful piece of cake for my cousin's birthday I will definitely return Oh btwPrices were very reasonable Food delicious Drinks were good Trust me, go there!"
"Great food! Service was a bit slow but I didn't know I could call ahead. So I just went in. Cash only as well. I got the jerk chicken platter and it was good and it was A LOT of food for the money so good value. The jerk chicken is great. Cooked to perfection and smells soooooooo good. Mac and cheese is extra like guac! The mac wasn't that good but probably gpt the bottom of the barrel so I would try it again."
"Just moved to the area and this was one of the places we'd looked up ahead of time to try. Glad we did because it was delicious! We got two large platters ($10 each) and ordered additional sides to try. Our favorite things were:Curry Chicken = very goodCollard Greens = Amazing. As good as any I've ever had without being overly salty. Mac N Cheese = fantastic. What you always hope mac will be.The Corn Pudding = the GREATEST sweet cornbread style dish I've ever had. I just finished it a few minutes ago and I wish I had more even though I'm full. Will definitely be back."
"Why have I not eaten here before? As a qualification, I've Been all over the Caribbean and frequented Jamaica for years. Been to Jamaican joints all over the city and suburbs of Philadelphia. Love Jamaican food.Ordered a large jerk chicken with rice and peas and seasoned cabbage, A large ox tail with rice and peas and collards, And a large curry goat with green beans and collards. Everything was spot on and deliciousThe jerk chicken just displaced my old favorite spot and is now in my opinion the best in Philly. Five minutes before getting there to pick it up I remembered to call and ask for a spicy and I'm so glad I did. The sweet tangy spicy flavor of scotch bonnet was pervasive and the chicken was absolutely delicious. I swear I could almost taste pimento smoke. Maybe it was just the authenticity bringing me to a place where memories of smoking pimento wood crossed through my brain barrier to my taste buds...or could they actually do it 100% right in Philly?. Generous portion and lots of gravy on the rice and peas. Bonus. Seasoned cabbage also really yummyThe ox tail was the perfect tenderness. Really delicious too. Also lots of gravy on the rice and peas and the collards on the side we're not dumbed down and had just enough bitterness and natural flavor to really be enjoyable. And the curry goat. Wow. Bursting with flavor. Super juicy. Tender. Love that it spilled over since the portion was so huge and got good juices into the green beans and collard's to give them an extra special kick and that wonderful Goatey punch. We will be going back and trying everything on the menu. After what we've sampled so far I highly doubt anything is less than excellent. Thanks for bringing it real and making me miss the island."
"I first saw this food cart last week and I was like "Ouuuu they make Caribbean food?? i gotta to give that a try at least once." I expected the seasoning to be slightly watered down since we're in center city, the portions to be a bit small because once again, its center city because I'm sure renting in a prime time spot isn't cheap for carts. Surprisingly, the portions weren't as small as I thought they would be and some of the platters were made ready-to-go! I'm used to neighborhood Caribbean spots running out of food fast or taking 20 min per order, but they were pretty fast and the price point was reasonable. ($8 with a free soda for jerk chicken, plantains, cabbage, and rice in a big bowl). They could've put way more plantains and cabbage in there instead of rice and beans, but the flavor was pretty solid. The chicken is boneless which was convenient imo.I'll def be back here to try the Oxtails and the beef patties. They were out of oxtails. As any good Caribbean spot should be. Pro tip: If you walk up to a Caribbean restaurant / food truck after 3 pm and they still have every single item on the menu available, turn back out the door lol all the good good spots run outta food early lol"
"I hadn't eaten a coconut breeze in quite some time, maybe in over 2 years but I had some friends over and decided to get takeout from there and get their family meal. The family meal could feed around 6 to 8 people and only costed around 45 bucks which was a great deal. They made some major interior upgrades to coconut breeze and even took credit and debit. something I didn't do the last time I ate there. I remember the food being a bit more aggressive on the spices but I wasn't mad. I understand they have to change with The Times in appeal to a larger audience so its all good. We order the jerk chicken sweet potatoes, collard greens, rice and beans, and macaroni and cheese. The only thing I wished was that the rice and beans came with more beans. The jerk sauce they put on the side to go on top of the jerk chicken was super super super good. The sauce was spicy but had a little kick of sweet balance it out. I hope they bottle the sauce someone day as I would definitely just buy that itself."
"Get the curry goat. I don't care if you don't like goat or don't like curry, just get the curry goat. It's phenomenal! The brown stew chicken is also absolutely delicious. The sides tasted very complimentary and I absolutely loved my kale and collard greens, they were made perfectly. My husband wasn't keen on his Mac and cheese but I thought it was good. Stars are only reduced due to the prices, which are kind of astronomical, but the food itself is superb. Will be ordering again."

Had a great time here with a group. Very interesting place. Upstairs area with a mix of real flowers, fake flowers, numerous regal artworks, bar, iPads for menu, etc.I had low expectations for the food so pleasantly surprised.

Parking is easy, you'll usually find a spot (at lunch time) The place was clean, the service was friendly and the food was so good!!! I ordered the pulled jerk chicken hash and I ate every last bit of it, I def recommend. I can't wait to go back and try more items on the menu

I've been to Jamaica a few times and have eaten Caribbean/Jamaican food from California down to Florida. Jamaica D's was recommended to me when I moved to Philly, and I first got the chance to try them out. Impressive use of what they have to make solid food. Let me explain.Jamaica D's is a small establishment in North Philly that gets plenty of love from all over and considering how small the establishment is that isn't a surprise; many small restaurants tend to pack big flavors. I went ahead and ordered the Jamaican jerk combo alongside the BBQ jerk with sides of the classic rice and peas, macaroni and cheese, greens, and sweet potatoes. The food was plenty and flavorful, but it just was missing that Caribbean/Jamaican flavor all around. What makes jerk chicken is the grill/cooking device that often gives off large quantities of smoke that exemplifies how the meat and seasonings interact with the grill to create a flavorful and masterful taste. Jamaica D's is under an apartment, so this cooking technique could not be mastered by any means. Additionally, their "spicy" sauce was not spicy by any measure, but the sweet potatoes were indeed sweet while the macaroni and cheese and rice and peas complemented the jerk chicken well. I'm not sure why the restaurant has "BBQ Jerk" as there is nothing Jerk about it. It is plain old BBQ chicken. Jamaica D's is really missing that Caribbean flavor, and though they cannot obtain the equipment to give the chicken its true color and smoky flavor, they could try changing their seasonings/marinade and "spicy" sauce to start. Otherwise, pretty solid

Sooooo, every business has their off day. Burnt patty--sigh-- and the oxtail was a solid 4/10. But you know what, I refuse to write Ron's off completely. Their ackee and saltfish and red pea soup were DELICIOUS. (So good, I never got pics that day!) From now on, that's all I'll be getting.

Reggae Reggae Vibes is my favorite Jamaican spot in Philly. I've been here countless times and typically order the weekend sampler, fried whiting, jerk chicken, mac, and candied yams. The only time I've ever had a "bad" experience here was when I tried a jerk cheesesteak, and the meat was full of fat. I however tried it again, and it was great. I recently used reggae reggae for catering at a birthday party. They're transparent with their catering prices on their website, and the process of ordering, paying, and picking up was seamless. I will definitely use them for future events and be sure to take photos.

Stopped in and grabbed a few platters wanted some Jamaican food. I ordered two stewed chicken and one jerk platter. I wanted some Mac and cheese but there was a 30 minute wait for that. The food had potential although, the chicken was a little dry and not enough sauce on it for my liking. I still would like to try other options.

Talk about good eating. SMH - Royals is Royal The first time I found this gem, as it was my first time they gave me a sample of every side item. Heaven, I was in heaven. I've had the oxtails and jerk chicken but my favorite is the Mango Wings. I enjoy every side as well. I've said I don't like reviews for Soul Food/Caribbean/Jamaican spots - but this spot is consistent. Every time causes me to remember why this is my spot of choice. I even do the travel for this good royal food. The staff are friendly and pleasant. It is now best to call and place your order. Once you arrive your meal is waiting. They take cashapp, cash and cards. You won't regret it. They also have a great tea.

"My boyfriend and I absolutely loved our experience at Ocho Rios Resturant in East Passyunk! We stopped in here for lunch today and were happy we did because it was fantastic! Authentic Jamaican food and that truly exceeded my expectations! I am not one to have Jamaican food too too often but after dining here I will certainly be back and I can't wait to try more! My boyfriend ordered the chicken soup which was extremely tasty. It had a tiny kick to it which was perfect. The carrots were sliced so thinly and the broth / chicken had great flavor. I ordered the garlic shrimp. Our waiter told me it was his favorite thing on the menu and he wasn't wrong! I cleaned the plate! The garlicky sauce was so so tasty and the rice / beans paired perfectly with it! Also you get two sides and lots of options with a main course. I chose the rice / beans and the Mac and cheese. Whatever you do get the Mac and cheese! So so good. Like wow, truly worth its own wow. Please go try it! Upon entering we were greeted by the most friendly and kind employee who is the nephew of the owner! He was so helpful with explaining the menu to us and accommodating throughout the meal. We even had the opportunity to meet the owner and she was so appreciative of us coming in. The vibes in this resturant are excellent, extremely vibey with awesome artwork on the walls. They have outdoor seating now that it's getting warmer out which is an great perk as well. Overall we loved our experience and would highly recommend this resturant to anyone! My boyfriend and I will definitely be back and this resturant will be added to our date night rotation!"
"I can't believe this is my first time having a sit-down dinner at this place when I'm literally always next door to it every single day lol Stopped in to get a meal right during happy hour and oh my goodness was that second floor jumping as if there was a birthday party going on but that was just a normal Thursday!;I ordered some boneless jerk chicken breast with rice. The mill came with some complimentary cabbage and plantains which was cool. I wish the serving of cabbage was more than it was but the chicken and rice was hefty so I'm not complaining too much...but eh.I was surprised how spicy the chicken was considering the place having a real modern vibe to it. Usually the modern vibe places water the food down a bit. The server was pretty kind and didn't mind explaining the menu. As good as the food was, the drink was really good. My rum punch definitely punched home with the rum lol I can't wait! Try their happy hour one day because I love a good day party with a live DJ and happy hour specials. I did catch the happy hour special for my drink and the $7 price point was definitely worth it."
"***This review is for Togo order***A family member went here and had a salmon salad and jerk chicken salad.I'm greedy so while they were eating is I asked to taste it.OMG it was delicious, so I knew I had to come here and get my own.First of all it's made fresh to order even down to the green peppers and tomatoes. The jerk chicken was great you can choose your dressing along with the jerk sauce. Next time I will call ahead lesson learned.I will definitely be back to order."
"Ladies behind the counter were nice when taking our order, they had alot options so we ordered a little bit of everything. Platters are big and worth the money, food was very tasty and full of flavor. We didn't wait long at all for the food and they had a lot of juice options in the refrigerators, would order from again."
"You get a ton of food. You can't finish the medium meal in one sitting. Not to mention it's $12. You can't shake a stick at that. I got the BBQ jerk chicken, rice and sweet potatoes. The sides are heavy too. The meal must've weighed a couple pounds. Food was pretty good. You pick a main and then you get 3 sides. They are all in metal serving containers so they can serve them right away. That being said it took about 20-25 minutes for me to get my meal but my friend got his immediately. That was strange. I got a seamoss shake too which was delicious. So if you're looking for bang for your buck than you're in luck!"
"Came here on Friday I had the jerk salmon, greens & cabbage.... everything was mouth watering!!Oh, and I also had their freshly made watermelon juice sooooo good. They usually have three different freshly made juice options per day. I've tried several of the juices and yummmmy."
"Very Tasty. Very Tasty Indeed. Just stopped by this place to grab lunch with my coworker after passing it a few times on my way to the post office. I ordered a small jerk chicken platter with rice and greens with a beef patty on the side for $10. The greens were very good with just enough seasoning. The rice was tasty as well but certainly needed the sauce on it. The jerk was also very good too. It was a bit more dry then I would have liked so definitely make sure you go heavy on the sauce. The employee working at the counter was very nice and the portion size was great for the price. Overall this was a good experience and I'll certainly consider this place for takeout again."
"Passing through the area and noticed Grill 'N' Dutchy. Went inside to place a to-go order. Checked out their menu, which looks good and is reasonably priced.Ordered a medium-sized platter of jerk wings (with jerk sauce on top), with my two sides being macaroni & cheese and candied yams. Also, ordered a side of fried dumplings. Grabbed a DG cream soda too. Food was on point and official! I highly enjoyed everything."
"Very fast service! I was excited to see a poke bowl shop open up in the area. It's also located in a super convenient location with plenty of parking. There's also limited seating indoors and outdoors in case you'd rather eat in the store, but most of the times I've gone, it was mostly for take out.The first time I visited with my friend, we both got the Big Bang poke bowl, which is the most similar to the poke I used to get when I lived Hawaii. It was a nice throw back to nostalgic times.Definitely a great new hole in the wall shop in town worth checking out!"
"I finally got to try Carib Grill after seeing how busy it is when I drive for Doordash. I LOVE boiled dumplings so I ordered some soup and they told me it came with dumplings. Love it. I found out two things today 1. Chicken foot soup is quite possibly the best soup I've ever had in my life. It's peppery and so so flavorful. 100 times better than chicken noodle, which I never look forward to eating. 2. Carib Grill is definitely a place I'm going back to for more- I gotta try the brown stew fish."
"I would smell the food from the lid spot as soon as I turned the corner in their aisle. One Quick Look at the menu and I decided on oxtails with cabbage and rice. Wait time was pretty brief. There were 2 customers ahead of me and so at lost 5-7 minutes wait time for our bag. All of the seating was mobbed with people so we ate it back in our room. First impression, the oxtails were super tender and the sauce was flavorful. At some point it was just easier to eat the oxtail with my hands. There's really no easy way lol. The cabbage was delicious as a side...tender with a bit of a crunch which I liked. Prices are decent for the portion they give you."
"This is a bar/restaurant that offers authentic jamaican cuisine. The food is pretty good--hearty portions and flavorful. I ordered the medium jerk chicken with rice and beans and cabbage for my sides. My mom ordered a medium stewed chicken with the same sides; and since she couldn't decide between getting chicken or fish, she ordered a side of fish which tasted good also. The grand total was $25. Because of the large portions, I'll have leftovers for dinner!! As far as the environment, it very much resembles a jamaican restaurant with the dimmed lighting, decor, and reggae music playing with a good mix of r&b and oldies. The staff is friendly and seem to share a family-like closeness. Every year around Thanksgiving, they host a customer appreciation night where you can dine in and and enjoy dinner for free. I really think this is a nice gesture and makes me feel good patronising them. It may seem a little sketchy from the outside, but it is nice and safe on the inside! There's plenty places to park, which is also a plus."
"The food is really good. The flavors are amazing and the plantains are everything just not 5 stars because the portion sizes are not consistent. The second time I ordered the amount of chicken was small and mainly bones"
"I have been searching recently for some delicious soul fried fish! I asked around and I heard try GiGi's more than once! I was on a mission for fish..but once I got there and smelled all the different yummy foods! Again--focus-so the order area is a small space, but it has approximately 5-7 chairs and one table! The menu items are listed and there were many options! I ordered the whiting fish; beans and rice with Mac and cheese! The Mac and Cheese was not cheesy and easily forgettable! The fish was exactly what I was seeking--seasoned well outer crunch and flaky inside! The prices were reasonable-I will be back for sure!"
"Ugh we are so happy we stopped in here on our morning walk yesterday. We've been saying each time we pass how we need to stop in and we finally did and so thrilled to meet the owner and have a bomb breakfast sandwich. We went with the sausage egg and cheese on a waffle and it was just what we needed. Everything was home made and made to order and you can tell he just loves what he does. We can't wait to come back!"
"The potato ball with gravy is my new fave snack! Ordering here can get a little hectic if there are a lot of people, but they are patient and make sure to get you your order. Fried chicken was super crispy and flavorful, and the beef over rice was a good portion for the price (very inexpensive). Try anything and learn what you prefer, but start with the chicken and rice platter and work your way from there."
"Was searching for a Jamaican spot and came across this place by googling online.I Never been here before so I was worried it wouldn't be good but boy was I wrong this place is delicious. This is a hidden gem I would definitely go back. I had the fried chicken sweet potatoes Mac and cheese and festival and my hubby had the jerk chicken white rice with peas and the Mac and cheese. This was the best Jamaican food I had. I would definitely go back again."
"Super good Jamaican food. We ordered through Ubereats and was not disappointed. The owner is super nice and will call you if they don't have what you ordered so that you can choose your substitution. We got curry goat, friend chicken, oxtail and beef Patties. Haven't been to the actual restaurant itself yet but I've already ordered 2 more times since. I'm definitely a repeat customer, you should absolutely try this spot if you're looking for some good Carribean food!"
"One of the google review's starts off "Lord have Mercy," and I must agree. What a phenomenal food experience. It is the epitome of hole in the wall. I thought I was accidentally going into the kitchen but it was the very small waiting room. We ordered our food ahead on the phone - easy to order, people were nice on the phone. Food was ready in 25min. Menu isn't huge which I always see as a good sign. We got the mac and cheese. Fantastic. Nice and toasted on the top which gave it a crispness and delicious and not overly salty or fatty throughout. We had the jerked chicken soul plate. Amazing. The chicken, the rice, the yams, the collards...all just perfect. The chicken had a great kick too it and lots of nice charred bits but also lots of juicy tender bits. Yams were naturally sweet and complemented the chicken great. I don't usually like collards because of the bitterness but these were great. Price was beyond reasonable for the quality and quantity of food (2 of us ordered one soul plate and one side of mac and cheese and it lasted for dinner for both of us and lunch for one person). Our friend got the jerked chicken cheesesteak and gave it 10/10. They also cater. Check em out immediately."
"This was between 3 and 4 stars. The oxtails and rice were very good. The greens and cabbage needed a little seasoning but were well cooked- I just added some hot sauce. I wasn't a fan of the Mac and cheese or the sweet potatoes. Something tasted too sweet or fake sweet in the sweet potatoes. Overall it did hit the spot because I wanted oxtails all day."
"This is a local mom and pop shop, where you run to when you really can't get home for some good Spanish cooking, but are CRAVING some rice and beans. The price is really cheap as in most Latin restaurants and the food is seasoned really well. I had the pork (lechon/pernil) and kindly asked the lady to lather some of the onions from the yucca and she was happy to comply. We also had arroz con gandules (yellow rice with black eyed peas) and sudao de pollo (chicken stew) which were great. The hubby loves the chicken stew because of the seasoning and because he swears it's healthier than the other fried meats in the place. I wasn't particularly impressed with the rice, it was more on the bland side but not terrible. Overall, it is a great place to come grab a quick bite or something to go. They have one picnic table outside for eating, but other than that take out only. They accept credit cards and parking isn't terrible around here either."
"I had so much leftovers it wasn't even funny. I tried a groupon for this location and I had a lot of reservations pulling up. I, AS USUAL, should stop judging books by their covers. the guy at the counter was very nice to everyone who came in. Very polite. i stepped out and waited for the crowd (maybe 4 people) to leave. once i got in I got a huge meal and some sides to go. I was skeptical of how everything was so fresh when I got home when it seems like it's all buffet style back there which could be hit or miss. I was sorely mistaken. I got the salmon which was tender, fresh and well seasoned. the rice was cooked perfectly and the greens were 'worthy' as I refer to them. I paid little extra for some corn bread and a beef patty(which was frozen they didn't have any fresh. It's in my freezer right now). The food was great. Overall it was good from start to finish. this is one of those joints in philly everybody know about but nobody tells anybody. please! go support a local business. This place more than deserves it."
