First time having a frita and everything here was delicious! The tostones were light and crisp, fried to perfection and served hot with aioli and crystal hot sauce. Yum! My favorite was the cortadito with evaporated milk. Exquisite. The ladies who helped us were super sweet and helpful. The mago himself was there and every local who entered went straight back to talk to him. Looking forward to tomorrow so I can go have another and try more on the menu! A truly fine first meal in Miami!

10 out of 10 experience! Upon walking into the restaurant, we were immediately greeted with a friendly welcome! We sat at the bar instead of getting a table, and every single person was extremely nice and guided us through the menu. All of their orders are freshly made, and they make everything from scratch, including the sauce! It definitely felt like a family restaurant. I was so excited to see that former President Barack Obama came here as well to enjoy a meal! The food was full of flavor and I cannot wait to come back!

Having tried Cuban Hamburgers in the past, I wasn't a big fan of them. Working in the area & lots of great things being said, including recognition from SoFlo Wine & Food Fest. I found parking in the 2 space parking lot in the front. Was greeted by a friendly & efficient staff that provided great service. The ambiance was slightly different than I expected with a downplay in its Cuban roots, No Latin music playing, English pop. Only quaint display of Cuban culture, but the star of the show was the Burger, and meeting the Rey himself

I normally go to Morro castle (Hialeah) for frita, Batidos, churros. But after hearing of El Mago I was talked into going by my daughter. Normally I'm used to having a combination of ground meat, Chorrizo, cone to fine out that they use 100% beef with Chorizo seasoning. The fria tasted like a burger with Taco seasoning. The fries were good (expensive). Had two batidos mamey, Malted , very good, I finished it with a Flan which was good. I felt it was a bit overpriced. Service was on point and the ambiance was casual. My overall opinion I'll stick to Morro Castle in Hialeah for an authentic Frita.

We had to catch an international flight out of Miami and needed to grab some dinner beforehand. When in Miami, you're supposed to get Cuban food, so we decided to check out El Mago De Las Fritas. Here's my take on the experience:Quality of food: great. Their claim to fame are their Fritas which is a Cuban take on American hamburger. It comes with an all-beef patty seasoned like Chorizo, onions, potato sticks, on a Cuban bun. I tried the traditional Frita which was perfectly seasoned. Make sure you add a side of freshly fried Tostones to take your experience up a notch. Décor: pretty cool. The owner/chef is a bit of a legend in the area and the walls are covered with newspaper clippings including when Obama visited the place during his presidency.Cleanliness: good. The tables were being kept clean. The bathroom was a little bit out of shape.Service: good. Our host was very nice and explained all the dishes.Price: good. The traditional Fritas was around $7 and were very filling. If you're in the mood for some delicious Cuban style burger at a place that's been around forever and where locals like to eat then check out El Mago De Las Fritas.

I would literally give this place 100 stars if I could. My absolutely favorite place in all Miami, I come here once a week and talk about it every day. Best croquetas in the world.Best tostones in the world.Best French fries in the world - likeeee what?BEST FRITAS IN THE WORLD!!!!!!ALSO they have their own pink sauce - you don't have to make it yourself which makes a BIG difference.Order everything above and for frita get it a caballo with Swiss cheese (that's the best). My boyfriend loves the batidos and you can also get wine if you want. The actual el mago is always there and his daughter runs it and they are so friendly and nice and awesome. My boyfriend and I aren't great at Spanish and they talk to us and help us and encourage us to practice! Just the best vibes Cuban diner with the best food in the universe. If I could only eat one thing the rest of my life it would be fritas from here. No other restaurant compares when it comes to fritas. Family vibes.
