I came here with one of my besties for a Ladies Night! We did not make reservations unfortunately and had to wait, but it was worth it! We decided to sit at the bar and our bartender made our night unforgettable! The waiters were so friendly too! Truly great service! We sampled a few wines, then ordered what we liked, even got free champagne at the end! Our bartender was very knowledgable, friendly and full of life! The energy at this establishment is amazing, the vibes, chandeliers and the decor, truly I loved the trinkets on the walls, and the design of the lights! It is perfect for an intimate night or even with a few friends. Live jazz every night! EVERYNIGHT! The music was to die for! We ended it with this amazing tea in a beautiful tea set, that from what I remember he told me it was a family recipe passed down! That truly was the cherry on top! It was the perfect end to the evening! We stayed until closing! I am so happy to have discovered this place! Thank you to the whole staff for making our evening unforgettable! Cheers! Until next time! Xoxo

I am extremely disappointed by the service and lack of accommodation at your restaurant last night. We went in with an 8:30 reservation and it simply wasn't honored. After the run around and a round of free champagne, we waited over an hour for our table and were still overlooked. Meanwhile, other people-who were clearly known to the owner/manager, were passed up in front of us. It was very disappointing as we were excited to try this place due to the ambiance and menu. It ended up being a field trip to the Gables to sit outside for almost an hour and a half, with little to no explanation. I'm sorry to see this happening somewhere that could have such good potential.

1) Reservations mean very little, apparently. I'd recommend just applying a policy of 1.5-2 hour sessions so guests know before they get there. Consider doing a cost analysis of how much you're losing to give free champagne, free dessert and 50% off a meal vs a policy like this and better time management.2) There is an image of an astronaut on the window, which I guess means the place is named after "Neil" and not "Louie"? Strange, but ok.3) We were given the corner table by the window. It's cool if you don't mind seeing people walk in ad infinitum while you eat, dealing with temperature inconsistencies, and being squeezed in a little. Hearing it touted repeatedly as the "best seat in the house" gets eerily suspicious. Plus, "best" is completely subjective - even if the owner likes to sit there.4) The menu says jazz is a mixture of African, Spanish, etc. with "American" last on the list, and was invented in New Orleans. So tired of people not giving credit where it's due. Jazz is a Black American art form, created and perfected by Black folks with, yes (obviously) African and other influences. I'd love to see Jazz greats and people in Nola read that misleading and appropriating sentence. 5) They can't properly chill white wine. The grilled calamari and shrimp app had shrimp that was perfectly prepared and flavored and warm. Calamari was cold and overcooked. The mayo accompaniment is a strange and curious choice. The pico is not pico. Asparagus was stringy. 6) We had just ordered dessert (begrudgingly, I might add, since we thought we'd use that time to chill and now try to enjoy some of the music), when the host came and very apologetically asked us to leave because they were swamped and needed the table. Mind you: We were one of the last couples there and the first to be asked to leave. I can't even properly describe how incredibly rude this was. Just...don't. Find a better way people. And as the one Black patron in the entire restaurant (already annoyed by the astronaut and the jazz description on the menu), right or wrong, it stung even more.We arrived in Miami in 1999 and I remember having fun at the live jazz locales around here. This was not that. Overall, they tried. They were very polite when they told us our table wasn't available and equally polite when they asked us to leave. The dessert stuck in my throat and while the tea they (politely) delivered after we'd been removed from our table was quite tasty, none of this makes any of it right. Hire a consultant so you can figure out how to properly manage this space. It's got great potential. And above all, please accurately credit the Black Americans who invented the art form.

Stumbled across this small intimate jazz house on miracle mile. Such an awesome experience. They have jazz every night of the week, with open mic after the show. The ambiance is super romantic with Paris aesthetics everywhere. You definitely need a reservation since the resturant is not too big. We ordered a bottle of wine, the chicken and the conch fritters. Service was great and they definitely made you feel welcomed.

It's all in the details This is an absolute gem. Jazz, Parisian flair, wine, and astronomy all blend seamless in this cozy little corner of the Gables. The space is tiny but the decor is a beautifully curated collection of art, vintage items and knickknacks all arranged decoratively, while crystal chandeliers and gilded details lend an elegant touch. The owner, a jazz musician, opened this place about 70 days ago, and the bar and seating will be full by patrons coming into enjoy French-inspired bites (chef is French) and good jazz music. In a Sunday night, it was packed but we were able to grab two seats at the bar--suitable to just have a glass of wine and listen to the music. The concept is great as was the service, and I hope they continue to grow and expand their space in the gables!Didn't try the food but tres leches was very good, and their cheese board had bits of Brie, a pepper jack (and possibly Gouda) served with a bit of fig jam, 2-3 small rosemary crackers, a couple of olives and a few nuts.No liquor license apparently because there was only wine and wine cocktails (such as a wine old fashioned - not to our taste, regular wine is better).Would definitely come back for the vibes and live music!

We finally made it inside to this quaint and intimate spot right on Miracle Mile in the Gables. We were greeted by the hostess who was extremely profesional and walked us over to our reserved table. Dim lights, a live jazz band and vintage decor surrounded us and I was hooked! Immediately, we were given warm towels for our hands (talk about first class service), a delicious chicken broth and our waters. Our server, Arlene, was nothing short of exceptional customer service, she was thorough with the explanation of dishes and always had a smile on her face. We ordered the salmon, which was not your usual take on the traditional dish, it was Chicago style, topped and smothered with cheese and mushroom sauce on the bottom, I have to say I've never tasted anything similar but boy was it tasty! The table ordered plenty of starters, cheese platter - your basic assorted cheeses, toasted mini crackers, jam, olives and nuts, then we have the calamari and shrimp dish - pretty on point with the lightly seasoned shrimp and grilled Calamari charred to perfection and finally the patacones - mini plantains topped with chicken, chorizo and sofrito. To end our feast we ordered the pavlova, a savory and light dessert, thin layers of meringue, dulce de leche topped off with sliced fresh strawberries, one of the best desserts I have tried in a long time and I don't have much of a sweet tooth, this was far from overly sweet, just right. All this while enjoying a live jazz quartet, which were amazing. Alfred, the owner, greeted all tables as well as Andres, the restaurant's manager. There are also tables outside but it was too hot humid for that (September). If you're looking for something unique and different to do whilst in the Gables, look no further than this cozy and quaint spot. Keep jazz culture alive!!! Thanks again for the wonderful experience, we will be back soon!!!

Was on our way to grab wine in Miracle Mile and stumbled upon what now happens to be one of my favorite Jazz bars in Miami. There weren't any spots available but Alfred Santamaria escorted us to 2 seats at the bar and our night was extravagant. Let me start with the decor and the overall ambiance. I absolutely loved the way the shape of the jazz house was in accordance to a regular shop on Miracle Mile except the jazz band was the display. Definitely attracts customers and definitely attracted me.There are chandeliers over every table, beautiful lighting, there is an entire shelf wall filled with items that outline jazz culture and just pretty pieces of all sorts of things that adds to the decor. The music.Incredible. The entire band played so well together and got the crowd to sing and dance throughout the night. And mind you, this was a Wednesday night. I can't imagine a weekend. It may have been the wine but I can't recall the name of the saxophonist, but he was amazing. He took song recommendations from the crowd and played for different tables which made the experience more personal. The story of how he ended up playing at Armstrong Jazz House makes his talent even more admirable. Drinks and DessertThe champagne and wine were great. There was an off the menu Prosecco they were testing that I loved.Ended the night with a Tres Leches and were strongly advised by Alfred to have tea with the dessert to give an aromatic experience when combined with the dessert's sweetness.Turns out, I will be incorporating that into my daily dessert dosage now.The serviceSome of the best service I've experienced at a bar/jazz house.Nobody was too busy to help or check on you, despite the place being packed.Sitting at the bar is not my favorite but The bartender was very attentive and sweet and had an elegance to him that made me respect the bar and the overall place. The service and treatment was the same all throughout, whether you were sitting at a table, at the window seat, or at the bar.A truly respectable place.Definitely aligns with the true character of a Jazz House.I will definitely be coming back and recommending this place.
