Came for an anniversary and I guess I had higher expectations. But I think we walked away not really satisfying our craving for good seafood and paid the price for it too. But first some positives. It's Saturday night and we came without a reservation. We were told an hour wait but 15 minutes later we had a table. Kudos for keeping the wait times down. Our server was attentive and responsive. She was quick to get us whatever we asked for and did a great job. And the food flavors were pretty reasonable especially with how the fish was cooked just right. All that said, none of it really wowed me. The fondue was super rich and creamy but had very little shrimp or crawfish. The garlic bread wasn't enough to get through it and we resorted to crackers. I was more disappointed with the fish though. The portion was ok I guess though it would have been nice to have a bigger fillet for the price. But there was almost no crab. I counted 3 discernible pieces and they tasted just like the fish so it may as well not have had any. The spinach is good but the plating could use some work. It just looked so empty for the price. We also felt like we were getting rushed out. I hadn't even made it halfway through my meal before dessert was pushed on us. When we said no to dessert, we were provided the check and some boxes. I was still working on the entree. For what I consider should be a nicer experience, it would have been good to pace this better. It'll probably be a while before I come back, and I probably wouldn't consider it for a nice occasion where we may want to take our time.

The worst service ever! My party of 3 arrived after 7ish for dinner while visiting my mother-in-law. We sat at the bar for drinks while we waited for our table, so far so good. We got seated pretty quickly and then it happened. We were sat in Joseph's area. We ordered the recommended appetizer, my wife and mother-in-law requested tea refills and I ordered another Dos Equis with lime only. I had to remind him about my beer, which when it finally came, ithad no lime. So I asked Joseph for limes a second time after initially requesting it when I placed my order. When he returned with my limes (3), he hands me them on a cocktail stick??? Okay... I only had a appetizer plate that had fondue sauce so I couldn't place them on it, so I stuck the cocktail stick that had the remaining 2 limes in my beer in hopes that the server would notice and bring me a dish or a glass to place them in. Wrong.... There was what I thought was some sort of manager (long blonde braided hair) walking around so I politely asked her if I could get a empty cocktail glass for my limes that were clearly sticking about 4 inches out from my beer bottle. She said yes sir very politely. Well she never returned after repeated walking around. Okay this is not a server thing, this is clearly the norm in this establishment. Midway through our appetizer we placed our order and I even asked for another beer. Easy right.... Wrong! Our plates arrived with our with our appetizer plates still on the table, which is usually cleared up when you're done. At least that's what I've experienced in my 40 plus years of eating out. The young lady who brought us our plates placed them on top of our already cluttered table and asked if we could use anything else. I asked if she could remove the 3 empty glasses, plates, and appetizer plate since our server was clearly not fully engaged in his job. At this time the beer I ordered the same time that I placed my dinner entree finally arrived . I even made a comment to Joseph about how the beer took longer to get than our dinner. "Sorry about that ", was his response. He wasn't even genuine about it. But had the audacity to ask he we needed anything else. I usually don't get rude with service staff but I replied with, I'd be afraid to ask. He didn't even ask me why I said that. We were going to have dessert and more drinks after spending a long day at the hospital but were already turned off by the lack of service by the staff on the dinner floor. The fastest thing he did was check us out when he brought our check. My family were taken back by this experience that they hardly touched their dishes. They asked for to go boxes and Joseph didn't even ask why they BOTH hardly touched their food. Again, in my experience, a good server would ask if something was wrong with their food or something but this young man could care less. We paid and left talking about how the bar was much busier than Joseph's are and they seemed to have it together. But maybe we just got lucky with that area. Anyway, my plate was good, and my family said that their food was good too, which they ate at home. Whoever runs this restaurant needs to get their employees a lesson in service etiquette and attention to detail while they're serving guests. If this is too much, then maybe they should work in a fast food restaurant where world class service is not expected. I'm sure no one that works there will ever read this and if they did they'd probably just accept the fact that they are responsible for running subpar restaurant service . Do you know why??? Because it's starts at the top! So YOU are the reason why your employee's provided this service. Because YOU tolerate it or don't care to hold people accountable. That's all...

It's been a while since I've been to Pappadeaux, but the memories are fond! I usually order the blackened salmon, which is always fresh and very flavorful. The green beans are great too...not too hard or mushy. Swamp Thang drink is always a hit, but I can only have one lol. Giving this location 4 stars (versus 5) because the customer service can be hit or miss :/

I had dinner at Pappadeaux a few months ago. Prior to this visit, I hadn't eaten at Pappadeaux in about 20 years. We had a reservation on a Saturday night which was helpful because the restaurant was very busy. We were seated at a table kind of tucked away towards the back of the restaurant. Our server was Joseph. He was really nice and did a decent job, but he was slammed with the dinner rush. I started with a cocktail called the Spring Fling. It was good and had a spicy kick to it because of the serrano syrup and serrano pepper garnish. I don't love spicy foods/drinks, but I was able to tolerate the heat. If I were to order it again, I would ask for half the spice level. For my entree I had the Catfish Fillets. I love catfish. These fillets were really good, especially with the tartar sauce. The batter was tasty and and not overly crunchy. It came with fries and hush puppies which were yum! The portions were generous and I had plenty for leftovers the following day.

Great service, good food, okay ambiance. You will get the best service, the food is fresh however could use a bit more flavor and salt on some items. And it's a large restaurant so it's quite busy and noisy can't expect too much aesthetically.

I've been here a few times and the food has never disappointed. This last time I brought my Californian grandfather here to try a Texas staple. He enjoyed the food as well, "Best food we had the whole trip." The seasonings or flavors in the dishes are always top tier. This was my first time trying this crab lump from the appetizer menu and it was so freaking good! I will for sure now be ordering this as my appetizer each time I come. The catfish was cooked perfectly. The rice was tasty and the shrimp was packed with flavor. We came during lunch and were seated fast. Our section had a good server and the volume of the restaurant was not too loud where we couldn't hear each other. Our waiter was Byron, he was very patient and attentive to us once he learned he was our server. He did a great job keeping our drinks refilled and offering recommendations. Ultimately all three guests in my party enjoyed their food, the service and the restaurant overall. I'm sure we will all be back soon for another visit to satisfy our bellies.

Second time at a Pappadeax, first time at Houston location and I just really love the flavor and menu! Service has been good both visits, food has come timely, & food has been delicious! This is certainly a restaurant for the seafood eater...the creatures they serve & put in typical dishes are beyond my safe zone lol. I will say Alligator is officially good. The portion sizes are huge so you'll have leftovers. The environment is relaxed however feels a bit moist & moldy. But, it's not meant to feel upscale so go enjoy!!

When we started to order the dish we wanted to order, we were told that they don't make any more, but it is on the menu. (See photo below) The service was very slow. Half of the order came out, and then bout 15 mins later, the second half came out. A manager offered a desert as compensation.

We went to Pappadeaux's before a game at NRG Stadium. The service was quick and what we were looking for. The food was what you would expect, and came quickly and tasted great. I got the blackened catfish with red beans and rice, it was the perfect amount of food before the game. The shrimp cocktail had large shrimp and some horseradish on top of the cocktail sauce, which made for a tasty dip. I would eat here again, the ambiance was loud and fun, perfect for the pre-game lunch.

The only other location I've been to was in Georgia and it made me excited to visit again. I finally got the chance to come to another location and it was a let down. The drinks were really bad & the food was not hitting at all at this location. The saving grace was I was with a great friend, the service was fun/friendly and the crowd was enjoying their self. I had/tried 2 drinks and can't even remember what they were called but both were poorly made...sweet and somehow taste "spoiled" at the same time. The bartender that night was cool/friendly, but definitely couldn't make drinks. I ordered the stuffed shrimp & it tastes "dirty" like sand/dirt here. I was shocked & Ive never had shrimp that taste like dirty water until here. This is a place to gather socially & eat appetizers possibly because place was packed/fully social. The food & bartending was horrible the one night I went. I don't usually like giving reviews after one visit, but between the drinks/food which are both separate I felt like doing a review. I'm not a fan of this location & it makes me apprehensive to visit another location.
