David N. "After having kids, this review definitely gets a boost. Growing up cheddars was very affordable american food. I would go here on dates in high school and out with friends. Everyone could get full and not break the bank. Now as an adult with kids, this is a place where you can bring the family and the kids can find something they can eat while you can eat on solid food for a very reasonable price. Our favorite by far is the appetizer of the croissants. I believe each person gets one, we usually get an order for the table in addition since it's so damn addicting. As far as entrees, the kids usually will eat the chicken tenders and shrimp combo. The adults will either get the steak and ribs or ribs and shrimp combos. This is a massive amount of food, each combo comes with two sides. The ribs are always plentiful and enough to take home for lunch the next day. On our last visit the waiter was on point! He brought us everything quickly and was super pleasant."

Rick F. "Okay I was going to wait on writing this review because when I made my first visit it was during a soft opening. Instead I will go ahead and publish this with a 4 star rating for now and update accordingly as I prepare to go back and visit again soon. I will say that Andy is loved in the community as a very pleasant restauranteur. There is no doubt that his venture into the bar industry will be as successful as Andy's Kitchen further up the street from this place. Based on my recent experience with the service and hospitality alone I can give it 4 stars even without mentioning food.On my visit they were still putting together the cocktail menu so I wasn't able to try one of their own to make them famous for. However the bartenders were nice and happy to make any drink I ordered. I was very impressed with the Old Fashion that I ordered again, again and then again. If I remember the bartenders name right then make sure to ask for Carlos if you want to try the perfect Old Fashion like I did. I was able to try the chicken fried steak which at the time was off menu on the soft opening. It was clearly hand made yet lacked a bit of seasoning but I will write that off to the training during soft opening. I will try again and update accordingly. I also tried the buffalo wings that were also off menu. They did not have them as spicy as I like mine at the time so again, I will try again to see if I can get them a bit spicier and extra crispy. The bar is very nice and the staff and guest were very friendly. They have a touch tone juke box that I enjoyed playing but at the time I was there it wasn't synced to where when you play a song that whatever was playing in the background would cease to play. I expect it to be adjusted better after the grand opening. It was a bit weird listening to 2 songs at the same time but I get it... Soft opening thing again I guess. They do also have a roster of bands that are scheduled to place there soon. I look forward to that as well as some good karaoke nights. From my understanding they intend to stay open till 2AM on weekend nights with street tacos available during those late night evenings. Totally look forward to that too as that area has been in need of a nice late night bar for years.Stay late, support local and Prosper!"

Then there are hidden gems that need to be found and treasured in a museum for ALL to enjoy. R&R Craft house is that Gem.Let me be clear. Some genius had an amazing idea and had the nerve to put bacon around a meatball! Then grill that baby! Wow! Pure genius! That exist here people. Indeed it does. A handmade meatball stuffed with cheese, wrapped with bacon and then grilled to perfection. That alone should bring in hurds of gem seekers. And then the bigger version of that idea is the burger itself. No silly not a meatball burger but the fresh meat that it came from. There "ain't no" frozen patties here! The burgers here alone are a 5 star experience. Officially I consider their burgers the best in all of Cypress. Gem seekers! Where are you?!Now get this. A hot dog! A basic hot dog made absolutely "BadAss" right here! Get that baby with chili and extra diced fresh jalapenos and I promise you that you will definitely make this your favorite spot. Come on Gemmies pay attention here! Now. Get ready for my favorite reason that makes this place a gem seekers requirement to eat here! Margarita's, Frozen Jack & Cokes, and outstanding Old Fashions! (Mic Drop!)I know the true Gem seeker's have either already been here or are on the way. One thing I must warn you about this place that almost cost them a star, so note...; They close early y'all. Gino W. "While in Houston visiting, I looked for several restaurants that I thought would be good to try that wouldn't disappoint. Upper Kirby Bistro was one that didn't come close to disappointing. They scored high marks.I met with a friend in the mid morning before the brunch crowd proper showed up. I started with a watermelon mimosa that was not only refreshing, but was also just a plus for something different. For starters, we shared the biscuits with gravy. Although they were delicious, there was a faint smoky flavor to them that I detected. There wasn't enough sausage in the gravy to add any kind of smoke, so I was curious as to what it was that made the gravy smoky. My friend ordered the fried catfish and grits, and she ate it all in silence and without complaint. That was all I needed to know that the catfish and grits were delicious. I had oxtails with grits and greens. My inner Jamaican loved the oxtails and my inner Southern totally approved of the grits and flavorful greens.Service is top. I can't say enough about how pleasant our server was. One thing to note is that parking in the area may be come a bit much. Having arrived for a 10:15 AM seating, I could easily get a spot across the street. However, by the time we were leaving around noon, the crowd was coming in and parking along the street was lessening. They have valet, though, but warning just in case you decide to go late in the day when the restaurant packs out. I know I will go back when I'm in town again. It will still be for the earliest seating."

I did not realize that the cafe is part of an event venue. There were beautiful flower arrangements from the wedding that was held at Dukessa the night before. Our server was fantastic. Very nice and helpful with helping us make selections for our meal. He told us that some weekends it's packed for brunch, and some weekends it's not. I'm amazed that more people aren't familiar with this place.I will normally have a mimosa with brunch, but I had some drinks the night before and needed to rehydrate. I opted for the fresh squeezed mango juice. It took some time to come out, but when it did, it was very good and refreshing! Definitely worth the $6. Our server did a great job of keeping our water glasses filled. Before we ordered, our server informed us that they ran out of lamb. Luckily I'm not much of a lamb eater so it wasn't an issue. My friend ordered the green chile mac and cheese for the table to share. It was really good and wasn't too heavy. For entrees I ordered the fried chicken biscuits and gravy. I asked for the egg to be fried hard which it was (I don't like runny yolks). My friends ordered the avocado toast and the bbq salmon quinoa bowl. We all really enjoyed our food. The bbq salmon quinoa looked AMAZING! I think I may have to try it the next time I go. For dessert we had bread pudding and it was really good and not too heavy either! I opted for the Hawaiian BBQ mix plate and boy was it a lot of food! Rice, Mac salad, BBQ chicken, beef and short ribs! The usual when it comes to a lunch plate! Sauce came on the side in case you needed to add some. I thought the sauce was a bit salty and there way too much soy sauce. Hawaiian bbq is sweet and salty, but the meat was missing the char flavor. I also didn't like that the sauce had to be poured over the top and not already marinated into the meats. Mac salad was alright. Overall, it was definitely A-ok and very filling in terms of portion size!"

Seriously, an underrated skill because this bar was bustling! Happy hour seems to be a hotspot for this place. This was my first time in, and I was surprised to learn that they offer tequila flights, and whiskey flight, but do not offer beer flights! This is surprising because this is certainly a beer joint. On the plus side they have a great selection of local brews (although not all on the menu were available), and the bartenders do a fantastic job at helping you make a selection. Also their shots menu is really unique...peanut butter pixie stick what?! Apart from the drink, I'll agree with a few of the reviews below- the food takes quite awhile, BUT if you have a minute, I recommend the pretzel & beer cheese *chefs kiss*. I'm sure it's meant to feed two or three, shared amongst friends, but this was the perfect size for a gluttonous me (love me some beer cheese)! Lauri B. "For all you Houstonians who remember The Mason Jar, it is now Goode Company Kitchen & Cantina. Not every restaurant can be a 5 star experience, but this one was very close. I would give 4.5 stars if I could, but I can't give a full 5. The space has been beautifully remodeled with lots of windows and a nice Mexican flare. There is a decent sized bar at the entrance with several tables lining the outer perimeter. The main dining area, separate from the bar, has table and booth seating options. The restaurant itself is not very big, but they do a good job with the space available. It is a shotgun style structure, so you can see the entire dining area from any table. First off, the service was fantastic! We were well taken care of and never had empty drinks, chips or salsa. Margaritas, chips and salsa are so important for a good Mexican restaurant. This is why I am only giving 4 stars. I wasn't "wowed" on these items. The "Damn Good Margarita" was more sweet tasting than tart and didn't seem to be very strong. They serve them in a regular pint style glass. I was surprised it wasn't in a Mexican style glass. The chips are thin and crispy with a light coating of salt. The red salsa is warm and smokey with a slight sweet undertone. It's not the best salsa I've ever had, but it was better after I added a little salt to the dip cup. GCK&C has verde salsa upon request. Not a fan of this salsa since I prefer the creamier green salsa, but others at the table enjoyed it. For my meal, I ordered the No. 2 plate. It comes with one Enchilada, one taco al carbon, one tamale, rice and beans. I was able to substitute the tamale for a crispy ground beef taco. I wanted a plain cheese enchilada, but I was served a chicken enchilada instead. I did not send it back because I think the confusion was on my part. I didn't communicate well at the start of my order. It was good, but it wasn't what I originally wanted. Again, not our servers fault. The crispy beef taco was in a delicious shell. It was the best crispy taco I have ever eaten. Many times, those type items get soggy, but this one stayed crispy and it was filled with a good amount of tasty toppings. The beef fajita taco al carbon was seasoned well and rolled in a flour tortilla. I only had one bite since I was full, so I get to enjoy leftovers for lunch today. The rice and beans were okay. My rice had some hard pieces in it and the beans didn't have much flavor. I don't typically eat more than one bite of beans, so it wasn't a huge deal personally. I was more disappointed in the rice. All in all, I would go back to GCK&C. I loved the atmosphere, the music they played, the service, the portions are large and the meal itself was good. I know how to doctor the salsa to fit my tastebuds and next time I would get a higher quality margarita."

After hearing about a coworker visiting recently and reading about the amazing CFS from the news again, I decided to try it out. There's plenty of parking in the front and back. The exterior looks a little dated, but the inside is pretty cute from what I could see. It's pretty dimly lit inside with an interior that reminds me of Luby's x Saltgrass x Denny's x Japanese coffee shop. The waitresses wear a dark uniform. There's a counter in the front like other diners, but it seemed to be a place where the staff congregate usually as everyone sat at the booths or tables. The dining population is on the older side with a mix of business, friends and family gatherings. There were large historical photos about the restaurant on the walls. Glass panels separating booths depict Houston/ Texas motifs like the oil derrick and state outline. The furniture is well-used but not torn. There's (2) individual toilet rooms. The female room is lockable with a stall that also locks and a sink. I was surprised to receive crackers, instead of bread, with the butter-like spreads. The chicken fried steak was pretty good and arrived as (2) small patties. I liked how it was crispy and tasted like my grade school versions. The mashed potatoes were smooth with a little bit of skin. The warm green beans were cooked in a mix of oil, water, and black pepper, which was different to me. The coconut meringue pie was sweet, creamy, and cold. I was disappointed that the dish comes with a toasty slice of white bread instead of a dinner roll and that the white gravy didn't have a strong black pepper flavor. My waitress was pretty nice in offering recommendations of what she liked and what customers liked and offered to replace my green beans if I didn't like them."

I chose the waffle, bacon, fried chicken, and sliced avocado & tomato. Everything was delicious, with the waffle probably being my favorite part. For the fried chicken, we both chose the hot option, and we thought the spice level was pretty mild while it was very well seasoned. For our drinks, we both ordered the lavender latte and really enjoyed the flavor. My dad ordered the sourdough pancakes, and they were great as well. While I'm usually all about the taste, I would add that the presentation here was really well done, and the purple flowers tied it all together. Our only complaint was that our lattes took a long time - they were brought out after our food, after we asked a few times. I asked for recommendations and had questions about the menu which he politely answered. He checked on us appropriately and for all of that, I tipped him handsomely. For drinks, my friend ordered a coffee, they don't have any fancy offerings there, and I went with the coffee float. It could stand to be a dollar or two cheaper for what it is. It needed more ice cream for sure with an $8 price tag, seemed more like one scoop instead of two. Now the food, we started with an app of the samosas. Now the outside was flaky, inside more mushy than I like but overall, they tasted really well. For entree, my friend ordered the roasted shakshouka which I still don't know what is inside it but she said it was good. Came with super delicious looking bacon and bfast potatoes. I decided to treat myself with the 3 lamb chops. For $44, they know they should make that an even 4 chops! The first bite was so damn delicious. It had the right amount of charring and was tender. The other two were nicely charred but the meat started feeling a bit tough. I still was eating at the bone to get my money's worth, I do not give one single solitary (you fill in the blank). Even Zack commented on it! I was like dude if you saw alladat, why you ain't sneak me another chop! The lamb chops were accompanied with garlic mashed potatoes and 3 spears of asparagus. It's a generous portion, the chicken is fried just right with a crispy exterior, and the andouille gravy gives things a little kick without being overpowering. Along with the mashed potatoes, it's a five-star dish. As are the fried green tomatoes. Some of, if not the best, I've ever had! A classic Southern dish that is done to perfection here. On my second visit, I had their bone-in pork chop which also comes with mashed potatoes and a crawfish pie. The pork chop was about average as it was a mediocre cut of pork. Not thick or juicy enough. The crawfish pie was solid but I'd choose the fried green tomatoes any day of the week. Service is standard and the restaurant has a homey feel. And here's one last thing that's notable: the chef used to work at Del Frisco's Steakhouse. And he was voted one of the top 20 chefs in Houston back in 2018. "Back camping at Huntsville SP again, and remembered how much we enjoyed this place- so, here we are!Perfectly timed for Sunday lunch, we got our name on the list then stepped over to the Farmhouse Coffee and Cream for a decaf flat white (with coconut- SUPER tasty!). Made the ~20 minute wait back over here at the restaurant seem quick.Ordering up a fav from last time (coconut shrimp) and trying a new app (southwest egg rolls); the cold chicken salad for me, hubs is having grilled chicken salad. (Which Colton, our server, took a few minutes to explain- it's not the normal bed of lettuce topped by a grilled chicken breast, but a Mexican style warm salad with zucchini and onions, the chicken sautéed in spicy sauce. Appreciated the heads up, and hubby is game for trying it) and we'll split a wedge salad between us. We're trying to keep it low carb and semi healthy b/c we know there's probably going to be pie (or sweet treats from the coffee shop) in our future. YUM!The coconut shrimp and orange marmalade is still a tropical delight- such an incredible combination. The southwest egg rolls are predictable, but tasty. Not a huge fan of the wedge salad, it's just a simple blue cheese dressing, but I will give kudos to the fact that they split the salad before bringing it out since hubby and I said we were sharing it. A very GENEROUS scoop of cold chicken salad for my entrée. Needed a little salt and pepper to bring the flavor out, but I'm impressed with how much shredded chicken it is (most places give you a larger ratio of the filler veggies (onions, celery, egg, etc) but the chicken really is the star here!)Hubby's salad came in a fried taco shell, with plenty of filling. Very tasty, spicy but no heat. He'd have it again (and mentioned again how glad we are for the heads up that it's not a lettuce based salad!)Hubs is having a (HUGE) slice of coconut cream pie; I'm opting for a few sweet treats out of the bakery case at the coffee shop. I'm not a big meringue fan, so he's given me little bits of just the coconut cream... and once again, the crust on these pies is cookie-delicious to-die-for!Another great meal, with great service (thanks Colton!) and we'll certainly be back again! --------- Y'all the team in here today is HUSTLING- seriously, most of the crew is moving at warp speed. Except for this one guy (we'll call him Hungover Hank). I kid you not, if it weren't for the front counter holding him up, I'm pretty sure he'd be on the floor asleep. If (and I mean IF) he's helping out to bus and clear a table, he's moved at a snail's pace in comparison to his colleagues) And normally, I wouldn't mention this in my reviews, but if the manager reads these, they need to know this kiddo at the host stand is a major turn-off when you first get here and he can barely stand up, open his eyes to greet you and acknowledge your presence. The rest of the team? FANTASTIC. But this guy? Hungover Hank needs a nap. ---------Follow our camping adventures at: www.tent-on-wheels.blogspot.com"
