"Delicious biryani here without going all the way to Hillcroft. I tried their chicken biryani, tawa chicken and garlic naan. All the dishes were so good that it was tough to choose the best out of the three for me. :) Very good portion size too. I did takeout so can't tell about the service. But, the takeout service was efficient, it was ready on given estimated time.I'm definitely returning!"
"I was looking for a new pakistani restaurant in the Houston area and found this one on my way back home. Although the area and the interior of this restaurant is no frills, dont let that fool you. The food is pretty good and was not nearly as spicy as I was originally thinking it may be.I tried the beef nihari, which is the first entree on the back side of the menu, also the goat curry, and butter chicken. I also added garlic naan. Soft drinks are in a can or bottle, as they do not have a soda fountain here.Beef nihari - this was like a stewed pot roast. It is cooked with fat and sits in a lot of oil. I am thinking you receive about 1/4 lb of meat, if that in the dish. I likes the slivers of ginger in this.Goat curry - this also has slivers of ginger and to me it seemed a bit spicier than the nihari. In contrast, you receive much more goat meat which comes in tender chunks. I am thinking I would order this dish again for sure.Butter chicken - this was my least favorite dish. The white meat chicken was too dry and most noticeably the curry was just too salty. I've had many better in the Houston area, so wouldn't order this dish again.Service is ok, but don't expect to be waited on after ordering."
"1. Service - according to the wife, the cashier was very nice and friendly. This is a A-La-Carte restaurant. You wait to be seated, order, and pay at your table. 2. Price - for a main entree, they range about $10-$15 a plate. 3. Ambiance- I personally have not eaten inside yet, but my wife said it was a pretty decorated place when she went in to pick up our take out. Dress code here is casual. 4. Food - we've ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala and the Vindaloo Masala. Both were really good and authentic. 5. Cleanliness - I haven't had a chance to dine in, so cannot rate on the dining area. However the to-go presentation is packaged well and the food was fresh and clean. I recommend this place and would definitely come back for a dine-in experience. I will add to this review once we dine-in here."
"I remember coming here earlier, last year, I believe, and did not end up writing a review, but I definitely wanted to write one this time. I am big on professionalism and I am happy to say that this establishment has great customer service and they bring the food out happily and promptly. They have a great setting that makes it actually feel like you're going out to eat, instead of just grabbing a quick bite. I love their white chicken karahi and the fresh bread (naan) that they give. The kalonji naan and garlic naan are fantastic. I think the prices are fair and I would definitely bring more family and friends here if I had the chance. If I lived closer, or still worked in this side of town, I would be a regular! The man who I believe is the owner even gave a light to someone to hold up while we took family pictures and I thought that was absolutely a great and memorable touch! They really know what they are doing here!"
"Nice old-fashioned interior and furniture for a Indian buffet restaurant. As soon as I walked in to Mezban, employees immediately greeted us.Food was decent. I went with a group after a bus tour around Hilcroft Gandhi Shopping District. The cleanliness however was a concern. I saw a critter crawling across the floor as I was about to sit down. As I poured a drink into the foam cups, I started to feel the leak on my hand. Holy sh... I grabbed another cup to catch the drip. The tables were not the cleanest. I guess they got so many leaky cups. Customers seemed to enjoy this place. It's a buffet. It was Saturday. The food seemed plentiful on the buffet line. I sampled few dishes and went back for more of what I liked. I couldn't tell which was which because the labels were moved. I just wish Mezban was more organized and cleaned to my usual restaurant dining expectations."
"Nice place with great service. The food items at Savoy are super flavorful and the quality is great. Everything we tried was worth ordering and reordering. I especially enjoyed their goat biryani and mixed vegetable dish. I look forward to trying their special weekend breakfast menu and other items."
"Fish Masala over Rice is the dish I get almost every time.... It was even my Christmas dinner once!! (I'm a pilot, often stuck at IAH) It is always cooked exactly as I like it, which is of course the best way; crispy and loaded with masala spices... yum yum yummy!!"
"Pretty good pizza with the perks of the great prices. They don't skimp on the toppings and the Desi pizzas makes things unique. The Spicy Ride isn't that spicy but the toppings liven up the chutney base. The Paneer Tikka was interesting also. The tikka seasoning wasn't strong but the paneer gives the slices a different texture and comes off like a seasoned ricotta. We need more fusion pizza joints in this city, especially since so many of the non-chain takeouts are owned by non-Italians.I wish they were close to me so that delivery wouldn't give me a cold pizza, but that's what a hot oven is for. As others have noted, it is in area where sketchy people just loiter around the convenience store next door. I don't know why people do that, but I've got more exciting options in my life."
"This was definitely the worst experience we have had since moving to Texas. We had been craving Indian food and were nearby and stopped in. No one was there at dinner, we should have taken that as a sign. Looked at their online menu and the yummy pictures and ordered. Nothing came like the photos, and none of the dishes were good. Two were inedible. We asked the server if we could send back the appetizer, but they refused. They proceeded to list off a bunch of reasons why the inedible food was the fault of "customers not understanding Indian food" and "people not liking spicy". Too many excuses, too little care in the food. They offered no apology and refused to split the check in two. $45 for 2 and no one ate...."
Highly I.

First time comer here! I used to live 2 mins away from this restaurant but I've never got to have foods here. While my work took me near here today, I gave myself try on this restaurant and that was a good decision! :) I ordered three things, cheese stuff, fried rice and garlic bread/nan? They were all delicious and I had a lovely time. I would say authentic Indian cuisine with good Indian vibes! Service was great and the lady staff gave me good suggestions for my dish options! I wish I came here while I was living closer... oh well, will definitely visit more my beloved vegetarian options Come visit for those who love Indian foods Cheers

I love Indian food but this place was just ok to us! My coworker and I ventured here for lunch. It was only a few tables of ppl so it was slow though it was well into the typical lunch hour. The service left much to be desired. The lady acted like it was the last place she wanted to be. Well honey, I can't help you find new employment but since you're here, you could probably be a little more present. And don't get me started on the condition of their menus! That lady brought out the most raggedy piece of a menu I've seen in life. Now they do have a QR so you can pull it up. If the rest of their menus look like that one, you're better off scanning! Also, I ended up spending about 35/40 on my lunch and smoothie and just felt like it wasn't worth it...The mango smoothie had a decent taste but was damn near room temperature. The awesamosas were so small, can't believe the price tag. It wasn't what I was expecting AT ALL. I like the big fluffy ones, what I got looked no different than the ones from Trader Joe's frozen aisle. I ordered the goat biryani. It was good but could use more meat esp since some of it was nothing more than small bones. It was also pretty dry even after adding the sauce that accompanied it. The naan was definitely good.My coworker ordered the butter chicken and I think she liked it. She did compare it to TJ's as well but it was her first Indian restaurant experience so take that as you will.

Restaurant has simple decor, and plenty of seats for big and small groups. Service was great. My waitress gave recommendations, and advices on spice level for different dishes. She was attentive and polite too. My friend and I came for lunch, and we had the Lasbela mutton karahi, murgh malai handi, and garlic naan. The mutton karahi had the right amount of spice. The meat was tender, and the gravy was flavorful. The murgh malai handi was creamy, and not spicy. The chicken pieces are slightly over cooked but the flavors were great. For people who can't handle spice but would like to just-do-it, consider ordering the mutton karahi and murgh malai handi because the cream in murgh malai handi balances the spiciness of the mutton karahi. The garlic naan was so fragrant. It had the right amount of garlic, and it was soft. To end our meal, we had the plain burfilee which had thin slices of almond on it. The burfilee was creamy but not overly sweet. It was a good dessert. I also had a cup of masala chai. The tea was fragrant and I could taste the black tea. But it could be better if the spices were more prominent. I would come back for more.

Been craving nihari ever since my friends mentioned it. The nihari here is great and the Haleem isn't bad either. The portions size is your average take out container. THEY DO NOT INCLUDE NAAN- so be sure to order it separately.Even though the have a buffet they make all the take out food fresh. Which is what I expect and was glad to see that. Pro tip: if your grabbing take out look at the specials (see my photo). Really really good deals.

"I had a decent experience at curry masala. I went for lunch, and it was kinda busy. The food was ok, and a little expensive but the drinks were really good!I got the mango lassi and vindaloo masala (with chicken). The lassi was really delicious! The vindaloo was ok, the chicken was a bit tough. The portions were good though, and it left me very full. I'd probably try something different next time. We also got the milk and chai for dessert and it was pretty good! The chai has a unique and strong flavor and I liked it.The service here was pretty good, they were attentive but it did take a little bit for our food to arrive (although i might have just been starving haha). The interior of the restaurant was nice and decorated well. It felt homey and comfortable. Overall, I might go here again if I'm in the area"
"Great food and service. Ask for the special Kerala entrees from this family owned establishment. We love the food with the right spices of a home cooked authentic meal. Highly recommend it!"
"Was impressed by both goat and chicken, but warning the goat chops are big - for lunch we had too much food. But spices were spot on."
"Good food Always to go places Halwa poori is goodPrices are very reasonable Philly burger is good"
"Delicious rolls! My boyfriend & I came by for the first time yesterday and tried both the beef & chicken phattie rolls. I was blown away by how good both of these were.If I had to choose a favorite roll, it would be the beef phattie. It comes "topped with pickled & fried onions, garlic mayo, and BBQ chutney rolled up in a flakey, buttery paratha." The paratha was so soft & fresh with the perfect amount of crispness. It reminded us of kathi rolls in Kolkata but with a completely different flavor profile! The beef itself was extra flavorful and tender. I am ready to go back right now just writing this review lol.We were initially confused because Rollin Phatties is listed on both Yelp & Google as opening at noon, but they were still getting ready when we placed our order around 12:25 PM. We didn't receive our order until ~ 1 PM. While it was a fairly long wait, the guys working here were very friendly and apologetic about the time. They gave us a free chicken phattie roll, which in our opinion more than made up for the extra wait time. For now, I would recommend coming by for a later lunch than we did in case they are still figuring out the timing. I can't wait to go have another beef phattie roll soon!"
"It was a decent experience. We weren't sure what to expect but after going to a few different spots serving this type of cuisine, we finally decided to try this place. We were looking for an AYCE place. There's a few Indian type restaurants in this area because were in the Mahatma Ghandi section of town so you had Indian, Afghani, Pakistani, Himalayan, Persian, all within a square mile radius, perhaps even bigger. You just had to choose your spot. The food was interesting. Very subtly spicy. Maybe my taste buds can take heat but not my sweat glands. It kind of just creeps up on you. Lots of different city style dishes but no chicken tuna masala or lamb curries which is my favorite. They did have the tandoori chicken and some fish. There was also goat, at least I assumed it was goat due to it being very bony with not much meat.We were served the naan bread even though that was also a slightly non-traditional not being very fluffy. It all had a nice flavor but I'm still looking for a really good traditional Indian buffet and I know I'll find one eventually. Dinner on a weekend will set you back about $18 which I feel is a little too high but know that lunch is cheaper.I could come back if my arm is twisted but probably not a place high on my list for Indian type cuisines."
"Wow, wow, wow! The food was so delicious. I am a vegetarian and they had multiple options for me. The food is well seasoned and tasty. I will definitely be back."
"I've been wanting to check out this place since it was opened. Beautiful spacious place with friendly staff who were very attentive. Every table got a sanitizer and bottled water. Big menu so much to choose from. Staff was helpful with recommendations. Everything we had was delicious, serving bigger than most Indian places we've been to. They even gave us free ice cream WITH WHIP CREAM & SPRINKLES. The only downfall was no alcohol-- the mojito is virgin. We didn't realize that till we ordered and take a sip. I was surprised the bill for all the food was $70. Love it. We'll be back"
"In LIFE, I have made BLUNDERS and MISTAKES and one notable blunder was to dine at this location for lunch today. I was so disgusted, upset, and enraged when I left. I wouldn't even serve this food to my pets, much alone Humans. We got here around 2ish and went to the buffet. The food items looked old and dried up. The only reason I didn't leave was because my friend had already grabbed food on her plate and at that point, we felt it was too late to abandon. I wish I could have just left. I was just annoyed the entire duration. I was so disgusted that I didn't even bother taking pictures, but here's a breakdown of some of the items:Biryani was stale, dry and no meat Chicken tandoor was cold dry piece sitting kabob were completely dark and dried upOkra was tasteless with no flavor Haleem was dry as if it's been sitting for a day or 2Potatoes were watery The buffet itself looks dirty Fried fish looked like happy meal from McDonalds The Chinese food section was awful looking Karhai Chicken. Stale, barely luke warm The only thing that was barely fresh and possibly earned them a star is the naan they came along with the puri, but we were so disgusted with the food that we didn't even finish the bread. They had brewed tea with milk in the percolator which was decent. They charge u $14.99 for this piece of crap food which is. Not even worth $1.99. Shame on them!!! And here came the most painful part when I had to pay for this ______. Avoid yourself the pain and suffering and just go somewhere else. With such atrocious food and service, I wonder how long they will stay afloat."
"Can't go wrong with BBQ food at a PK restaurant. From the aromas of tikkas, kabobs, boti etc, it's an awesome experience every time. We ordered chicken tikka legs and breast. Bihari kabob, seekh kabobs, chicken and beef boti's and a whole bunch of that carbolicious NAAN. The food was excellent. All items were on point. My only complaint to them is the following, which prevented them from getting 5 stars. It's a sit down restaurant and they have introduced this new policy where you have to pay first and then be seated for your food. The major problem I have with this is that every time you have to order something else, you have to go back and run your credit card again for like a dollar transaction or two dollar transaction rather having a Kiosk system where u just rack up the tab and pay in the end, like most of other sit down restaurants do. It so happened that the owner was present at that moment and I went and told him about this and his response was that we have had people that walked out and we cannot afford this, so I told him that as a business owner it's a risk you have to factor in running a business. Sadly enough, he wasn't concerned."
"Me and my BFF came here for dinner. We both were craving curry and grill, and she suggested Pakwan House. My family had recently hosted an event at their banquet hall and we liked the food that was catered. While the exterior may not be too appealing, and the interior ambiance was plain and simple, the restaurant itself was clean. We were greeted by person, who was the cashier, host and server at the same time. Later on, I did notice the owner come in as the restaurant had gotten busy. I believe he used to be a partial owner of Shahnai restaurant. My friend wanted samosas as appetizers, so we ordered a few of them. We also ordered daal (lentils), and a mixed grilled platter, which consisted of Chicken Tikka, Chicken boti, Seekh Kabobs with sautéed onions. Regardless of diet, one must order Naan with these items. Our samosas were hot n crispy. Daal was creamy and rich with flavor and the grilled items were very good. Naan came hot off the oven and was a perfect compliment to the meal. They had plenty of other grilled items and traditional dishes which are available on the menu. From what I hear, they also serve a buffet, which might be for lunch only. Inquire within.I do plan on visiting again soon."
"We should have listen to Dad's request when he said he wanted his fave, Luby's, for his birthday dinner. But sisters and I were craving naan. As mentioned in my first review, we get catering from Lazeeza for birthdays and such, so this year for Daddy's birthday, we ordered food to feed our family of, er, 11 is it now? Biryani, goat korma, haleem, saag paneer and oodles of naan and parata. So, 6:30-ish, there we were, grubbin' down and watching mom's novelas when I had a spoonful of haleem by my face and screeched: "Eyw. This smells like baby diaper!" Come around 11pm, the food is being put up when sister number 2 starts gagging and insisting everyone to smell the halleem. "It's bubbling!" Mom smells it and concludes to 1) throw it away 2) everyone is gonna get sick. When I read other reviews with people claiming to have gotten food poisoning from a restaurant, I don't worry about it too much because people consume food all day and there's really no telling which eatery could be at fault. But this was an incident where we had members of our family from different households all coming together for one shared meal from one restaurant ... and everyone gets sick. Even sister number 3, a few months pregnant had to go to the ER just to take precaution.I know things like this can happen (if I were a restaurant owner, this would constantly be on my mind, 'cause you never know. Bacteria can be sneaky little suckers.) My dad ended up calling them, but no reimbursement for $140 dollars was made (He didn't ask. Too modest). I at least hope they help cover those medical bills..."
"It hurts to give them just two stars but after several visits it's just not up to par with the few good pakistani kabab joints in Houston. Thier kababs are spicy but the spice just masks the lack of flavor in the meat and it's quality. The haleem was such a major disappointment, not nearly enough meat in there and what was horrendous was the clumps of spices that weren't dissolved fully in the curry. Rendered it nearly inedible. The saving grace is the naan but it's pointless if there is nothing worthy to eat it with! It's a huge restaurant and they do have somewhat of a cult following. I sincerely don't get it."
"Tried out the lunch buffet and was pleased with the quantity of different foods and the quality of some. As with all buffets, you won't expect to get the freshest each time but the staff did their best to provide the freshest dishes first. Service was great. The kabobs were probably the best item there followed by the butter chicken. Next time I will be sure to try their custom order pizza and non buffet items. Clean and well maintained restaurant."
