We took the kids to Black bear a bit ago when one was craving eggs and the other pancakes - we didn't feel like cooking and wanted something different than the Denny's or ihop in the area that I haven't been to in years. I looked up reviews for places nearby and came across this place just a hair north of clear lake into Pasadena. I thought the food was all pretty reasonable quality, the wrap was excellent, hash browns maybe a bit oily and unevenly cooked, pancake my youngest ate a little of, but thats just kind of how he is, and the corn bread muffin was tasty but a bit heavy. I mean look I admit I can be picky with food, I think I would come back again for diner food, it's just not usually what I crave so I'm definitely biased here!The staff were friendly, and a note on paying - seems you do it at the register.. it just took a long time for our waitress to bring our check.. and there was no one at the cash register, so it was a confusing 10 minutes as we were trying to leave and couldn't figure it out!

Bacon cheddar burger for lunch and it was delicious. May not look like much but it has an all beef thick pattie . The fries were good but I think they needed to be deep fried just a little longer. The meal is fulfilling I'd definitely would order it again . Friendly staff as always here and clean restaurant.

Walking in the place feels pretty good. It has a nice atmosphere and they greet you when you come in so you feel welcome. The newspaper menu is very unique but I don't think it's as effective as it should be. Ordered and didn't wait long but the food was more than a bit disappointing. The chicken fried steak had an odd taste to it and the chicken avocado club was pretty dry. Once they sit you down they don't check on you so you have to flag someone down if you want something. Maybe it's just my own taste but I don't think I would choose to go again..

I have visited the Humble location a few times in the past and liked it so I decided to give the Pasadena location a try, while I was in the area. Boy, was I underwhelmed! The grits were terrible. They had a texture about them - like a pasty after taste. Idk but I never want to taste grits like that ever again in this life or the next. So, I requested hash browns in place of the grits. The hash browns came out burnt and season-less. I actually never finished the food. The whole meal was subpar. The greeter sat me at a dirty table and just walked away. He was not warm AT ALL.The bright side - my waitress was nice.

Picked up my dad from the airport and then head out to explore Johnson Space Center. We passed Black Bear Diner on the way and stopped for breakfast. The service was really great. Coffee hit the spot. Portion sizes were gigantic. Flavors were actually good. Can't complain at all!! I had the Southern Scramble which was a split biscuit covered with 2 sausage patties, scrambled eggs & country gravy.... Side of red potatoes... It kept my full till dinner

The diner food was decent. I was more impressed with their brand's pepper sauce than their food. We were seated quickly and it was busy for a Sunday. We had to ask that the booth be cleaned again because the table was wiped off but there was food on the seats and on the floor.

Today was my birthday celebration with my friend. It was a wonderful experience! Windy our waitress was exceptional!! Bailey the restaurant mgr was such a joy and she brought Black Bear to our table.

I always enjoy coming here for a filling breakfast. Their pancakes are huge! Customer service is always quick and everyone is so kind. Their cold brew packs a punch but delicious.

Ok We decided to give BBD another try .We went a few months ago .The potatoes with onion and peppers were burnt .I sent a picture to the corp office never heard back .Tried again today .I ordered the Classic Eggs Benedict .It should be muffin ,ham ,egg and hollandaise sauce .Well it was a muffin ,grilled slice tomato,spinach egg and hollandaise sauce .It was pure mush !!!Just awful ..I told the waitress and she told me she put the wrong order in ..Didn't bother to tell me she would turn in the correct order,no discount for me having to take off everything except the egg and muffin .Does BBD not have managers .Do they Not have anybody at Corp to get back to customers ....It had such a nice atmosphere .Just don't order any food ...

We ate here this afternoon. We both ordered The Grizz. Our food was perfect. Our server Zenaida was very attentive to whatever we needed. She came around and checked on us, refilled our Pepsi without asking, she was extremely pleasant. Thanks for hiring great servers and cooking great food. We loved the pancakes!
