Talavera is even better with its recent "facelift"/remodel. It's a coral gables staple and have been serving authentic Mexican food for years. We had several items and shared them family style. Tacos were perfect. Quesadillas were cheesy and yummy (may be too greasy for my taste). Ceviche verde was fantastic, as was guacamole. I had to take one star off only bc I felt rushed by the waiter. They kept trying to remove unfinished food from the table - we were just enjoying our conversation and were not rushing to get out. Also they brought tiny-tiny bowl of chips for a party of 3 adults. I look forward to going back.

Talavera Mexican Cocina in Coral Gables offers a pleasant dining experience with great aesthetics. The guacamole is solid, though it doesn't stand out as extraordinary. However, the highlight of the meal was the quesabirria - exceptionally flavorful and well-prepared. The passion fruit margarita was a refreshing choice, featuring vibrant and well-balanced passion fruit notes. The dessert was a bit of a letdown, lacking the flair and satisfaction expected to round off the meal.Overall, it's a good spot for Mexican food and drinks, though the service could use a bit more of a personal touch.

I unfortunately have to give this place 2 stars despite thinking their food was fantastic. The first of many problems occured when I questioned if I was dressed nice enough even though I was just on an evening stroll in Coral Gables and came upon this place with my boyfriend. However, I thought it looked tasty so I walked up to the hostess and was immediately greeted by the hostess who looked me up and down very rudely. They told us they had no tables inside only at the bar area or outside even though there was plenty of tables. I understand I was in a sweater and shorts but the immediate disgust from the hostess' inital words and looks were enough to make me walk out, but I ended up sitting at a table by the bar anyway. The second problem was when the waiteress greeted us with the question "how are you guys enjoying florida""where are yall visiting from" . I have lived in Miami for almost three years so this sent me for a shock. The immediate thought that we are tourists was rude. At this point I wanted to walk out but was convinced to try the food. The only great part of the evening was the absolute incredible watermelon margaritas that I enjoyed. This margarita sent me on a tropical paraidse, and I wish I couldve brought an entire jug home. The food was quite tasty and honestly the most elegant Mexican dish I have had in a while. The night came to a brutal ending with a third problem. I wanted to treat my boyfriend and pay the bill. When the waitress brought back the bill, even though I had handed her the card, she said "thank you sir" and set it down in front of him and walked away. Overall, I will never sit down and eat at this restaurant again. The food and drinks were phenomenal and I will order to go whenever I want to eat the food. If you want a restaurant that disrespects and judges you, then this is the place. Oh, did I forget to mention the AC unit that was dripping water on my face?

I visited Talavera a couple of months ago with some friends and I used to go there all the time for their Al Pastor Tacos on Wednesdays so I was so looking forward for my friends to try their Al Pastor tacos. I haven't been to this restaurant in years so it was so nice to see how nice it looks now. I started with a Margarita and it was really good, my boyfriend got some wine and one of my friends another Margarita which she liked too. We shared a Guacamole and it was ok. For entrees, I was surprised to see so many vegetarian options so I ordered the Chile Relleno, it came with rice and beans and it was good, really big. My boyfriend and friends asked for the Al Pastor tacos and the server surprised us when she mentioned those tacos were made with chicken instead of pork! We couldn't believe and I couldn't believe it! So sad! Of course, we didn't order them and my boyfriend switched to a Churrasco which was ok, nothing out of this world. My friends shared some Carnitas Tacos and the Flautas de Res and were ok. Honestly, everything was ok, for what we paid, not sure if I'll ever come back. There are a lot of Mexican restaurants in Miami with traditional Mexican cuisine and this one was just alright.

Come with me to Talavera Cocina Mexicana, located in Coral Gables. I went with a friend for Happy Hour drinks and dinner. We each had two margaritas. We tried the Flor de Passion margarita and the margarita De Sandia with Mezcal. For appetizers, we had the Queso Fundido Clásico and Esquites. My friend had the Tacos de Costilla De Res En Birria for our mains, and I had the Enchiladas Verdes. The margaritas were good; the Flor de Passion was the favorite; the combination of hibiscus, passion fruit, and lime creates a better flavor. The Queso fundido was okay for me; it hardened very quickly. The Esquite was perfect; they used the large corn kernels I love. The Tacos De Costilla De Res En Birria were terrific. My friend loved them, and when I tried them, I could taste why; the flavor was rich, and the meat was tender. The Enchiladas Verdes were good; the salsa verde was very fresh. Overall, Talavera Cocina Mexicana was decent. I had higher expectations from their website and pictures. The food was good, but nothing impressive. For their price points, I had higher expectations. The service was okay; our server would be gone for a while at times, and we wanted to order our second round of drinks before happy hour was over, but we couldn't find them; thankfully, another team member noticed us looking around and assisted us.

Overall, Talavera is a hit! This place was a great date night spot with delicious food and great menu options. All of the food tasted fresh and flavorful. The vibe was good! My only complaints would be that it was very loud in the restaurant. The service was also mediocre, we would go long periods without seeing our server. Besides that, everything was excellent and I will definitely be back!

I've been coming here for years and went yesterday for my birthday. Always a nice reminder of how great this place is. The mole de res is one of my favorite dishes and it's always fantastic at Talavera. I checked out their yelp score and was upset to see how low it was as this is one of the best (if not THE best) authentic Mexican restaurants in Miami. Ambiance is really nice too. You may get some house decor inspo when you visit
