"We've been ordering from here for over 5 years now. They changed ownership somewhat recently and it's mostly still the same.Food is still great (we mostly order curries) and haven't really noticed a drop off in quality, maybe a slight one. Their butter chicken is excellent (as someone who loves butter chicken). We've never dined in (always pickup) and the interior is a bit dated and the tables are pretty basic, but I'd imagine most of their business is takeout orders.Staff is always friendly and attentive when picking up as well. They often have deals or discounts too. Regularly you can get a discount on DoorDash or their site ordering system. Sometimes during non peak offers they will offer buy one get one free of some items too."
"Place was recommended to me by my general physician who is Indian.Phoned up August 12, 430pm and ordered $16 chicken korma, $16 chicken makhani, $14 bengan bhartha, each with a choice of naan or basmati rice. Took 50 minutes for my order to be ready at 522pm, and had to make a U turn onto bumper to bumper El Camino Real rush hour traffic 2 miles back to my house. The chicken korma and chicken makhani were curry dishes, spicy and full of flavors, with a decent amount of chicken. Went well over cooked cauliflower. The bengan bhartha is cooked eggplant, chopped and pulverized. Among the best eggplant dishes I have ever tasted, Indian or Chinese. Wife's favorite.Phoned up October19 430pm, and found out they were no longer serving meat dishes, only vegetarian dishes. Ordered the $14 bengan bhartha, the $14 Malai Kofa, and the $14 Navrattan Korma, the last two with plenty of vegetables in a spicy curry sauce. Combined them with the naan that came with the dishes. In the future, will order dishes from this place only after eating Costco chicken. Will combine the leftover rotisserie chicken breasts with the vegetarian curry dishes to satisfy my carnivore cravings."

"Darbar consistently has delicious take out and the food holds up really well via Doordash. We usually order:Palak paneer - creamy spinach base with cheese cubes; well seasoned and spiced!Butter chicken - delicious strips of dark chicken meat in a creamy tangy sauce. The sauce is soo good on rice or with naan. Curry chicken - this is one of our favorite chicken curry dishes around this area!Samosa - love the tamarind chutney!"
"I love this place! Nice ambience, attentive servers and the food is INCREDIBlE. Tonight we ordered the Avocado Jhalmuri as a starter-awesome! Garlic shrimp from the clay oven were flavorful and the Vegetable Korma was great too.Prices are quite reasonable and our server, aptly named Joy, could not have been better. He even gave me a little extra lemon pickle (condiment) to take home with my leftovers after I told him I liked it."
"The local Indian restaurant that's near our house. Food is always ready quickly and for our family they do a good job. The kids like the butter, chicken and the roti. They are pretty easy to please. The place is always busy and has some room for seating. People are always friendly. Would recommend to anyone of our friends if they're in the area."
"This review is for Axol / Axel. He is the manager this sunday evening. Long story short I wasn't able to attend the dinner but still wanted to take care of the bill. He was able to provide a solution and took care of the party. Much appreciated. The party said he very accommodating and nice. Great service will always keep the guests coming back."
"From the outside, you wouldn't expect much from this place. The building is old and the decor is well aged. The building looks like it was built some time in the 80s and is in desperate need of renovation. That said, the food and service, which are what a restaurant pride themselves on, are second to none. I have tried a few Indian restaurants in the South Bay, and I would not call myself very knowledgeable about the cuisine, but I know what tastes good, and the meals are always top notch. We usually go for the garlic or butter Naan, tandoori chicken, and lamb korma and have never been disappointed. The prices are also fantastic, you'll get a great meal and it won't break the bank."
"I've been to Curry Up Now, three times. Which is a surprise because I've been getting pizzas at New York Pizza for years. But myself and my mother "discovered" this little place one day on a walk when we couldn't decide what to eat. And we are so glad we did! We've ordered the big share platter. The Tikki Masala and Butter chicken are just chefs kiss. The naan bread is so warm and fresh out of the oven. We tried their chicken tacos for the first time yesterday and it's definitely going to be a dish that I order for future visits. My mom loves the mango yogurt drink. The very kind lady working the register (I forgot your name I'm so sorry) is always polite and helpful when trying to decide what to order. She gives us such a warm welcome when we visit. I recommend this place 100%. The food is fresh and you can tell they put effort and thought into their ingredient and dishes."
"Omg..my first time trying butter chicken. I figured I'm in California I've got to try it before I leave. It was DELICIOIS!!!! Chicken was tender, gravy was DELISH, the garlic naan bread was to die for!! Lentil soup had a hint of spice that my pallette appreciated. The lime soda was really good and even the rice pudding was good (I don't typically care for it).Treat yourself when you are in the area!! It's delicious!"
"This is my go to place for Indian food. At 17.99 for the buffet you can not beat this quality of food. LIFE HACK!! I'm not sure how much a value meal at McDonalds is at the moment but I'm sure this is only a few dollars more and this is real food and you can eat as much as you want . These people treat my family and I like family and it's always clean and consistent . Try this place NOW!!!"
"My favorite place to order Indian food in the east bay!Customer service here is quick and seamless --They are really hospitable and quick to refill glasses of water. Very attentive and ready to add any additions and make suggestions if you want to try new things. Only positive things to say about their customer service.Butter chicken is a must, but the goat curry is perfection --Butter chicken here does not miss. Has perfect balance of spices and ghee. Pair it with garlic naan and that's already a fire meal. Also ordered goat curry and lamb vindaloo. Not a fan of the potatoes but there was not much. The meat portions are always really high.EACH dish comes with rice but keep in mind, it's a lot of rice. THE wings are a must try too. So much flavor and affordable.Overall, well worth the visit. This place also has a plethora of desserts ready to buy too!"
"The most authentic Indian curry topping pizza. Plenty of vegetarian choices, and custom orders available. Family owned business. Hosts/owners are caring and thoughtful people. Tandoori Potato, Paneer Tikka, Pav Bhaji, Aaloo Gobi have generous amount of toppings unlike other pizza places where they throw a few on top to check the box. Think crust makes it more like sabzi on chapati, which is light and delicious."

Came here for a lunch buffet so I could eat as much butter chicken as I wanted. It's a varied but simple selection of buffet items featuring many typical Indian staples. The only thing not pictured is the Naan, which they will bring to your table when you are seated.I'm not an expert on Indian cuisine, but I tasted most of the items and they all were along the lines of my expectations. I liked the Butter Chicken and Lamb Curry a lot. The Chicken Biryani was pretty satisfying too.Apparently, there's been a recent change in management, and the food tastes a little different than it used to be (supposedly saltier according to the person who brought me here) but this was my first time visiting and I thought the food was fine for a simple lunch buffet.I'm not local to the area, but if I was, I'd come back for another go.

Comfort food. We came for dining in here after many years. Eating hot naan and hot curries on a cold day is an experience in itself. Unanimous winner was Palak Paneer! My personal favorite is Baingan Bhartha. Unlike many other restaurants around, they dont use a lit of cream in their curries, so the curries taste flavorful. It is a small place, but could fit us a group of 6.

This is my go to place for every day Indian in Palo Alto and I probably get take out here once a week. I've ordered 5 or 6 different items over the past couple of years and I always look forward to the delicious food. - and it is reasonably priced!

Can't say enough good things about Mantra. Whenever I have a friend who's never tried Indian food, I bring them here. Actually, I bring everyone here. The dishes are diverse and approachable. Any day is great to visit Mantra. Weekend buffet is a wonderful experience. Dishes are constantly replenished and rotated throughout lunch. You can order fresh naan and dosas as well. The staff at Mantra are what make this restaurant truly special. Reddy, Romaldo, and everyone else - super welcoming and offer a great overall experience. You guys are amazing!P. The weekday lunch specials are great deals, healthy, and fill you up. I believe it's from 12pm-3:30pm, but don't quote me on that. The veggie of the day last Thursday was cauliflower with potato in a yellow curry, and it was served with naan. So flavorful and delicious. The Cholay Batura had a chickpea dip with an addicting, fluffy bread. It was my favorite dish out of the ones we ordered just because the bread. We also got a chicken wrap that had bbq chicken and veggies in it. It was good too.The employees were nice and answered any questions we had about the dishes. The water is self serve from a filtered water dispenser. There are mint chutney and tamarind sauces available too.I'll definitely be back for lunch!

PROS:- The flavor was savory throughout all dishes.- Decent ventilation throughout the restaurant.CONS:- The service was very slow even though staff was running around. We sat for over 30 minutes after our meal was over just waiting for staff to bring us boxes and the check. If they could increase staff, I would bump my experience to a solid 4 stars.FAVORITES: - Tandoori mix was the star of the show. The clay roasted flavor was evident through all of the meats, which were all very tender!TIPS:- Be patient on the weekends. Service can be slow due to the crowds.- The tikka masala had a slightly unusual grittiness to it. It is unexpected and an acquired taste.OVERALL:- Food was delicious and savory but service was slow. Would go back again to try.

We visited Swaad this evening around 7 pm. No one was in the restaurant, but don't let the absence of patrons fool you. They have a frequent stream of to-go orders. Another table was sat right after we arrived. As always, the staff is always pleasant. She's one of those people who remember your entire order with modifications, and she even remembered the other tables order before telling the kitchen. We normally order a lot of dishes, but tonight, I tried to keep it in control. We got the Chicken Tikka Masala - ALWAYS delicious, fresh, flavorful, and smooth. I would've liked maybe two more pieces of chicken, but with today's economy, I understand. Next was Chicken Tikka Kebab - ALWAYS fresh, hot, sizzling, and tender. I vaguely recall it used to come with one or two wedges of tomato, but I could be wrong. You must squeeze the lemon on the meat to bring out its delicious flavor. The meat is so tender it just falls apart in your mouth. Third was Murda Prag (Chicken Biryani). This is fresh and delicious, but I think I should've asked for it to be spicy to just give it a little kick. We also got two orders of wonderful plain Naan. It was soft yet firm on the edges. Not even remotely dry. Of course, we had to get an order of masala sauce to go! The leftovers tomorrow will be even better! Don't be intimidated by the neighborhood. It's worth going to! Always super fresh and clean.

"Another great meal at Sugandh. We started with the complimentary pappadum with 3 dips. Then, our mains were chicken korma, butter chicken, lamb biryani, saag paneer and bhindi masala. We also had plain nan and basmati rice.We thought everything was flavorful without being too spicy hot. Service was excellent. We always enjoy seeing customers who look like they lived in India eating here."
"Unexpectedly surprised by this spot, had been here in the past when they first opened up and just thought of it as ok. BUT noowww though, yall better not walk and run that azz to your nearest Curry Up Now! The revamped menu from Chef Bikram is hittin with all the spices and flavors and I can guarantee there's something for everyone. Some heavy hitters for me were the:- Spicy fried chicken (that cilantro chutney cooked with them onions really made that sandwich)- Indian flatbread (never had something like this before, pleasantly surprised and would def order again)HOT TIP: this location is one that also has a bar, I had an early lunch there so I didn't wanna TU that early but that won't stop me next time LOLLService was great with that staff being very helpful in explaining all the dishes to me. Vibes def were there, I could see that being a nice spot to hit up after work with your coworkers."
"I can't say enough about the service! They are welcoming, willing to converse with you on where they are from, and super accommodating! We came in around 8pm and it was just us. But more people started rolling in around 9pm to eat. This is a popular place to have traditional Indian/Himalayan/Nepalese dishes! We came for the Momo - -- so glad we were finally able to try these, they were pretty darn good. Little pockets of chicken goodness dipped in their sauce put me in a happy spot."
"Such a beautiful hole in the wall place that you wouldn't know was sitting in a residential neighborhood of Sunnyvale. The outdoor area is super cute and very nice for a warm fall night dinner. We came here on a Sunday night and it was fairly busy.I've heard great things about the fried chicken here and we had to come back with our friends to spread the joy! Definitely get the chicken tikka masala, it was 9/10, with very juicy and tender pieces of chicken.Your order at the counter and seating is open. We would definitely come back with more friends!"
"Noori was such an enjoyable experience thank you so much to Max the owner and Prachi! I loved how the spice level that is broken down on the lower right hand side of the menu. Level 2 was very spicy and as a well versed spice woman I wouldn't want to go higher. Overall, great food that is very authentic and fresh. Try the goat cheese naan. Side note: the event space is great so ask for a tour if you are looking to host a party."
"This has turned into a must stop destination for us every time we are in the Bay Area. We used to hit this tiffins place for snacks on our way back home the past couple of years. However during our 2 most recent trips we physically dined here as well to check their tiffins section!Ian loves their Poori and their Rava Dosa.Punugulu, Garelu (Vada), Uthappam, etc. bring the taste from Vijayawada to the US! Love it!You seriously are missing out if Ulavacharu tiffins is not your frequent Andhra meal/snack destination!"
"It was MYNT to be a great lunch with colleagues at Mynt. Service was great and glasses were always filled with water. It is a classy ambiance. We had the butter chicken, the paneer sizzler plate, naan, and vegetarian biryani. Everything was delicious and fresh. Quality food if you ask me. Sorry no pics as it would look weird in front of work colleagues. Parking was plentiful during weekday lunch hour."
"Love this place! It's our usual go-to when we are craving Indian food. We typically order the chicken butter with rice and a la carte spinach paneer. Sometimes, we'll get a serving filled with chicken and paneer, and other times, there's not enough protein - so they could work on consistency. We will keep paneer in our freezer to add to the leftover spinach paneer the next day. Garlic naan is a must!"
"This is a solid modern Indian spot with lots of good food options. It's a great place to bring your friends and family to introduce him to Indian food. The vibes are great. The ambience is great and the restaurant was packed. The service might be a little bit slow, but you will definitely get your food and drinks and we really enjoyed the chicken, tiki masala and all the appetizers. Try asking for recommendations on what's popular and you won't be disappointed."
"This was an excellent Thali meal with amazing value! The variety of curries was fantastic, offering a great mix of flavors and textures. The food was prepared quickly, and the online ordering process was super easy and convenient. The takeout packaging was flawless--everything was neatly packed and stayed hot. The staff was polite and welcoming, with everything ready to go in what appeared to be a very tidy interior. Definitely a spot worth returning to!"
"Went to Yellow Chilli with my family. We had the following appetizers: Chanachor garam, vegmanchow soup, and hadippa paneer tikka. Both apps were flavorful and channa chor was nice and crispy. The green chutney that came with it was also a nice touch. We had the following main dishes: shaam savera, puransingh ka tariwala murgh, kebab vegetable wala. Our favorite was shaam savera! The sauce was so good and the paneer was so soft. We also had different types of naan to go with it as well as the onion chilli roti. Overall the food was great and will be coming back. Also, shout out to our server James who helped us decide between dishes and drinks. He was also very friendly and funny. Thank you for tolerating my dad's jokes, James!"
"A hidden gem at San Pedro Square! Not sure how I never tried this place before out of all the numerous times I've been here. But finally got down to it, and boy it was worth it!FOOD:----------I would describe the food as a combination between Chinese and Indian influences, flavor wise.First of all, had to try the *Chicken Momos* for which they are famous. And rightly so! Deliciously stuffed with a solid ratio of meat to veggie, and filled with delightful herbs and spices. Really supple and tasty.Their *Chicken Chow Mein* reminds me of Singapore style chow mein. Great taste, good meat/veggie to noodle ratio, and super filling, which is great when you have hungry hungry people with you.We were recommended the *Chicken Tikka Masala* which I thought might be a standard version, but this one really punched my mouth with superb flavor. The portion was very generous and I couldn't stop stuffing myself with this dish.SERVICE/AMBIANCE:-----------------------------Service was great and they gave excellent recommendations. Ambiance is pretty vibrant on the back side of the market without being too rowdy. This is the calmer side of San Pedro Square so you won't be disturbed by (too many) drunken interruptions.TIP: You can always order to go, so that you can pack up the leftovers even after you eat here.DATE TIP: Definitely a great place to order and share lots of tasty morsels. That to-go box will come in handy so you and your date don't overstuff yourself!"
"Amazing samosas. We also got the chicken tikka masala, butter chicken, and the garlic naan. Samosas are always a winner in my mind comes with a red and green sauce, a must when you have them. The tikka masala was very yummy and the piping hot fresh garlic naan was fluffy. Goes great with both the tikka and butter chicken. Both chicken dishes cooked tender and not dried out at all. A very fulfilling meal. Need to come back and try their lunch buffet."
"Can't believe I haven't reviewed Indian Tadka yet! My husband, a true biryani addict, has been searching for "the one" ever since COVID shut down his go-to spot at the Belmont Sports Complex. After countless biryani disappointments, he's finally found his match here--and it's conveniently right next to his favorite market, Hankook. Here's our routine: we drive 30 minutes (yes, just for Hankook), he orders the biryani, we shop for 30-45 minutes, and pick up our food as we're leaving. Timing perfection!Quick tip: they don't open for dinner until 5:30 p.m. Today, we arrived at 4:30 p.m., finished shopping by 5:15 p.m., and ended up waiting in the car until they opened. Totally worth it, though--the biryani was demolished as soon as we got home. No pics this time, but I'm sure we'll be back for more soon!"
"Service was great! Huge pani puri line outside on a Saturday evening!! Cashier was friendly, foo"
"Taste of Burma is another good Burmese restaurant in Daly City. I came here on a Saturday for lunch and although a couple of tables were occupied, there was no wait for a table. We ended up ordering the samusas, tea leaf salad, coconut chicken soup, and nan gyi dok. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time and portions were okay to a bit small. The samusas were crispy and filled with potatoes, onions, and spices that tasted delicious. The order came with 5 pieces for $7.99. This was a great appetizer and was served with their house sauce. The tea leaf salad ($13.99) was good, however, it was not bursting with flavor as some of the other tea leaf salads I've had. The portion wasn't very big as well, but we still enjoyed the tea leaf salad. The coconut chicken soup ($12.99) was creamy and very enjoyable. Nan Gyi Dok ($12.99) is thick rice vermicelli with coconut diced chicken, red onions, cilantro, fried onions, and fried wonton skins. It was also very good, but reminded me of the coconut chicken soup, just without the creamy thick soup. Overall, the experience at Taste of Burma was really good. The staff was friendly, polite, and patient as we took awhile to eat and chat. The restaurant was clean, calm, and small. The bathroom was in good condition as well. The location is in south Daly City, a little closer to South San Francisco, in a small plaza on a hill. There is a small, but crowded parking lot. Taste of Burma is a good choice for Burmese food in this area."
"Amazing food, consistent taste! Idli is always soft, sambar piping hot and chutneys with perfect balance of spiciness. The dosa, vada, uttapam everything is always spot on too. Filter coffee smells so good and tastes even better. Service is also very courteous and prompt. Ambiance is pretty basic. This is our go to spot for South Indian food for years now!"
"We were really craving Indian food and I wanted to pick something up on the way home. They have an impressive menu and a lot of different options I don't usually see at other traditional Indian restaurants that I frequent in the area. I ordered the garlic naan, butter chicken, bhindi masala (okra), and the karahi goat (came out to be about $58 total before tip). My order was ready by the time I arrived for pick up and it was still piping hot. The butter gravy/curry that came with the goat was outstanding in flavor. There were small chunks of bell peppers and onions that melted in your mouth. The butter chicken and garlic naan were also solid and tasty. I love a vegetable on the side and usually it's hard to find something that isn't curry based or pureed down, so I didn't know what to expect with the okra but it was definitely a great addition to the meal. The okra was sauteed withe spices, onion, and tomato and still held a bit of a crunch. I ordered it to be mild spicy and it really held it's flavor well. Definitely impressed and I am excited to go back and try some other things on their menu. They are also known for their popular sweets and desserts that I didn't get to try this time, but will next time."
"Work lunch on a Thursday for colleague's birthday.Love that the garlic naan is still piping warm and the aroma of this entree is amazing. I love all kinds of Indian food. Today I stepped into something different for my palette and the amount of spice is quite spicy but I love it. As I'm writing I'm devouring and biting into the corn kofta is soft, I can taste the bits and pieces of the ingredients of corn and they give you huge pieces. I like that they don't skimp. This blows my brain, the spiciness. lol. I love it. I can't wait to try more dishes from Passage of India. I love spinach and this hit the spot for me.Thank you, "I'll be back"!"
"I am no expert but I love the Chicken Leg tandoori and curry from here. My husband and I shared the combo and ordered an extra naan plus a Palak Paneer. Servings are generous. We didn't finish the PP and didn't even touch the extra naan. It's located inside the mall food court. It was super busy and loud- but the workers move fast to clean up after diners."
"This is a decent Indian food place overall. They had special food items advertised at the table but it ended in December & they no longer had the food items. They were on every table, but they still didn't take them off the tables. I had several entrees as seen in the photos. The food was pretty good, the chicken was a bit salty for some reason, but not terrible. The service was ok, the waiter wasn't friendly/but wasn't unfriendly...they were just there to do the job and I get it. I'd come back & try other items on the menu for sure. If you enjoy the heat of spice, this might be a place for you to check out."
"Tabla Indian Restaurant serves a variety of dishes from across the subcontinent, including a number of South Indian specialties that you won't find elsewhere! Their dosa selection was extensive, and the Onion Rava Masala Dosa was a thin, crispy fried batter made of semolina, rice, and wheat flour, filled with caramelized chopped red onions, and served with sambar (a creamy lentil vegetable stew), coconut chutney, tomato chutney, and potato masala (mashed spiced potatoes with onions, peas, carrots, dal, and cashews). The sambar and potato masala were both deliciously creamy, though the chutneys were a bit lacking in flavor and freshness. The best part by far was the rava dosa, which was perfectly crispy throughout and was complemented nicely by the sweet crunch of the onions."
"The restaurant is a vegetarian buffet style place offering some very well made, homestyle dishes that warm you up from the inside out. Nothing is too spicy btw, most things they serve are more mild in the spicy range but still have an option or two if you prefer no spiciness to your meals. When you get to the food line, you can ask one of the workers behind the counter about what the dishes are and they always have good recommendations. So if you're unfamiliar, just ask and they will politely guide you to some very delicious food. As you eat your food, they will also walk around and deliver freshly made roti to your table if you'd like. The staff is always very friendly and welcoming and it's very relaxing to eat there. There is also a patio area that is a little under utilized by the customers but we prefer sitting there and eating in the fresh air. This is a very humble little place with delicious food and a very clean establishment to eat in. When in doubt of where to eat for the night, we usually end up hereAlso, they allow dogs in the patio area if that is a restriction for you!"
