I had seen Sugar Dealer floating around on FaceBook. Curious, I "liked" the page and started browsing photos only to find myself bookmarking it here on Yelp. Through the powers of the universe, I was able to obtain a box of pistachio macarons (uhhmm MY FAVE hello!). I was ECSTATIC to try them. I am a lady who favors Laduree and Bouchon macarons. However, neither are in my vicinity so every now and then, I settle for a sub-par macaron (insert a disgruntled emoticon here)SETTLE NO MORE.Introducing Kat, owner and chef of Sugar Dealer. I found out she trained in Paris and worked at Bouchon. Her background definitely piqued my need to obtain some of her macarons. I verified all this with her later on when I finally met her. Brewed a cup of tea and decided to dive into my macarons. Oh lord, I could have crumbled upon that first initial bite! The same delicate crunch I have come to know and love of Bouchon macarons was found in these macarons. Moist and chewy, easily melting in my mouth. Filling was not too sweet, just the perfect balance. I looked down and realized my little box of 8 probably would not last very long. I had decided to hoard my macarons. I emailed her inquiring about her menu. A couple of my colleagues were curious and wanted to order some. We all browsed together for a quite some time. Later, I finally met Kat and placed an order. She was able to meet me up (she came to me!) and drop off my order. Kat is SUCH a sweet gal!I had ordered macarons in these flavors: guava, pistachio, passion fruit, root beer, and chocolate earl grey. Although pistachio is my favorite of all time, I found myself becoming quite fond of the guava ones. Kat has definitely captured the taste of guava in these macarons. Found myself wanting to travel somewhere tropical, haha! Definitely ordering more from her in the future. These would be a big hit for parties, whether they are for bridal, birthday, baby showers etc whatever the occasion. I also saw that Sugar Dealer has done cakes for events. I'll probably have to order one for someone's birthday one day..Until then, I am going to sit here and ponder my next macaron order because writing this review has made me want some.

Best French macarons I've ever had!I went to the launch party for Sugar Dealer in June 2012. The chef and owner, Kat, made a spread of treats for the sweet tooth in all of us. There were an assortment of flavors of macarons, from root beer, chocolate earl grey, guava, and yuzu. My favorite was the chocolate earl grey. Caramel cocoa nibs popcorn was to die for! Mint chocolate chip marshmallows, honey madeleines, triple chocolate chip cookies. There was so much I can't remember them all. They were all great. She caters for weddings, corporate events, parties. Wedding cakes, birthday cakes, specialized corporate labeling on desserts. Everything under the sun. Just ask and I'm sure she can accommodate your events needs.I would recommend Sugar Dealer for any catering event. She is no stranger to the kitchen, she has had professional training in Paris, France and has worked at Bouchon Bakery in Yountville, CA. She is very pleasant and easy to work with. Her pricing is very reasonable, so get her goods now before everyone knows her!

Kat made my wedding cake: a five-tier cake, alternating between mine and my husband's favorite flavors. Mine was the "rocky road" which was semi-chocolate cake with marshmallow filling (no nuts for guests who might be allergic), and my husband's who preferred a mango cake with coconut cream filling. She also made two giant sheet cakes; one of each flavor. (We had about 430 guests...)I wish I could reach through these words, through your computer/tablet/phone/machine and shove the actual cake in your mouth so you can taste the beautiful concoction yourself. My words will serve it no justice. We are not big dessert people (or more like my husband isn't) so we didn't want anything too sweet, and she was able to make it exactly how we wanted it, no hassle! I know for a fact the cake was the best cake in any wedding because my wedding was two years ago and people STILL talk about that flippin' cake.I know I found myself a gem and am so happy that Sugar Dealer is in business. I can't wait to try her macarons as I don't doubt they are equally amazing.

Yet another AMAZING job from Kat! This time I ordered a cake and some sweets for my sister's baby shower. Brownies and blondies were to die for! Slightly chewy, moist--definitely tasted like it was made from scratch using high quality ingredients.Assortment of cookies were fantastic! Peanut butter, chocolate chip, oatmeal cranberry. Yeah, my blood sugar was up, & it felt great, haha.French macarons were, of course, a huge hit and the first to disappear. If you want to impress your guests, order these. Doesn't matter what flavor; they're ALL delicious.I threw an owl theme shower so I told Kat that she could do whatever she liked with the cake and party favors (sugar cookies) as long as they fit the theme. Cake was SO cute! If I could hug a cake, that'd be the one to snuggle with. Cake tasted yummy as well. The sugar cookies were completely beyond my expectations. They looked super expensive & absolutely adorable! I couldn't bring myself to eat one because it was so beautifully decorated, but I heard they tasted really good. All in all, I am one VERY satisfied customer. Now to think an excuse to order from her again...

I don't even like sweets, but Kat's stuff...what can I say...there is always an exception to everything. Kat is truly talented, and hits the sweet spot on evey one of her creations. My birthday cake was made with chocolate ganache on the outside, and inside had these peanut butter flavored coco rice puff. On top there was a sprinkling of chocolate covered cocoa nibs on top. Simple delicious. Her macoroons are amazing too....so chewy in the middle but crisp on the outside. My favorite flavors are pistachio, coffee, yuzu, and chocolate earl grey...OH HELL...all of them really!!!!!!

My husband and I hosted a large dessert and cocktail party and hired Kat as our dessert caterer. She was extremely professional. In particular, she was very responsive throughout the whole planning/menu development process, and most importantly, her desserts were amazing. She even created customized menus for our event. Professionally trained in France/ex-Bouchon dessert caterer? I can't wait to throw my next party and will definitely hire Kat again.

We hired Kat to cater our dessert reception and bake a small, 9" cake for our wedding. I ordered little dessert bites of some cupcakes, brownies, blondies, and cookies and we hardly had anything remaining at the end. They were decadent but not overwhelming. The wedding cake was delicious -- we got chocolate cake with cream cheese icing and it was beautiful, simple, and out of this world delicious. She offers a great variety of treats -- I was surprised to see so many dessert people in the city only offer cookies, or only offer cupcakes. Kat was really easy to work with and has reasonable prices compared to others I've seen too. Sugar Dealer was the perfect!
