Tay's Soul Food

I ordered the stuffed Tilapia, yams, and cabbage. For dessert I had the banana pudding.The food lacked seasoning. I couldn't taste what the Tilapia was stuffed with. The yams were the best part of the meal.However the banana pudding was delicious. Not sure if I'll go back. I'll await further reviews

I went here one day because I saw that they sold crabcakes. I ordered and right away didnt like the fact that they waited until I got there to start cooking. (When I called they said it would be ready in 20 minutes) after waiting 10 minutes the food came out I went home and it was good.I went yesterday 6/7/18 and purchased the same thing. I called ahead and again I had to wait. Since I had to wait I ordered a Whiting sandwich. The young lady came out 10 minutes later to say the fish was frozen.....FROZEN??? Its a friday night....one of the busiest days for restaurants... Finally the food come...im excited. I get home bite into the crabcake and its HARD AS A BRICK!!!!! I immediately called to let them know the young lady apologized.I said its ok and asked if i could exchange the food i didn't eat and return it tomorrow because I dont live close she said yes.I called today to order a fish platter and to replace my crabcakes. I said instead of the crabcakes may i just have a side of whiting...the same young lady said o yeah I talked to her and we not taking it back.Um I spent $19 for a platter the food was essentially burnt and they didnt want to make up for it. I said cancel my order and I'm never coming backFolks this is why its sometimes HARD to support black business sad to say. Do not support places like this where you have a business but dont know how to run one.When you as a business person mess up you FIX IT point blank period.Their are too many Decent, well operated black businesses to spend your money on that are not hood spots. Sad sad day.

I waited for some time for delivery, but the food! It was worth minute of it. Probably some of the best soul food I've ever had. Definitely not diet friendly, but cheat day worthy.

I love how hard working Tay is to get her orders out to people. The waiting time sometimes is a little long but it's worth it. I usually get the chicken and broccoli Alfredo or the salmon over rice with a side of yams and Mac (they give good portions on everything). I got the chicken wings one time and it made my stomach hurt it might not of been cooked all the way. Tay's is one of my favorite soul food spots in Philly. I will be back!

I really wanted to like this spot because the staff was super friendly and nice, but the food was a different story. The food was cooked to order, so I knew I would be getting something fresh and hot. The food was hot, but it lacked flavor. The BBQ sauce saved the wings but I still could only eat three pieces. The greens sat in water and therefore tasted like water even though there were pieces of garlic cooked in them. The mac and cheese needed salt. The candied yams were the best part of my platter and they had mad cinnamon cooked in them. More than likely will not return and hopefully someone in my house will eat these leftovers because I am not.

Staff was very rude. When I walked in no one greeted me and my sister. I stood at the counter for 1-2mins before a young girl with a scarf on her head asked to take my order. We proceeded to place our orders. They didn't have many sides so I had to pick from the limited list that was given to me. My sister ordered a salmon burger with fries. We were told 15mins. We came back in the store 20mins later and many orders were being handed out all but ours. When arriving back to pick our food up we are told "We are all out of fries, would you like another side and if so, we would have to pay an additional $3." The cashier then went to the back and yelled to someone the conversation we had. She returned to us telling us "Due to our inconvenience we could get the side but next time we would have to pay the $3." I asked to speak to the manager Tay. She came from the back with a coat on and walked past us as if we were not there. One of the girls told her again we wanted to speak to her. We explained to her what was going on she told us we were given the wrong information and that the fries are just something she throws in with the salmon burger it doesn't come with it and usually she would charge us $3 but because of the inconvenience she would give a side for free." She was no help. I will no longer be doing business here.

They need better cooks my fish was a brick baked Mac taste like the cheese cake from dollar tree ! Now I'm all for supporting my black neighborhood businesses but never again ! Not to mention when I called to possibly get a refund the ghetto girl answered the phone like she was starring in BAPS & didn't assist offer money back a new platter or anything nope never again ‍ first and last time there....

Today I purchased food here and I must say it was terrible I'm so upset because I purchased here before and the food was good.The fish was not seasoned at all had a weird tasteThe yams was clearly from a canThe potato salad was terrible My fiancé also had a platter as well today And his chicken was extremely greasy and nasty.Will never go here again

Honestly i will never go here again . I didn't not get a chance to even taste the food but the customer service is TRASH ASF . why take someone's order if you don't have they want ? I ordered food at 3:30pm and waited for my food until 5:20pm after being told it would be ready at 4:30 . i came into the establishment 3 times ! to check on my food on the third time she finally told me they didn't have mac and cheese mind you O waited an HOUR for mac and cheese ! that really posed me off idc of her food good or not DO BETTER SIS!!!

Food is tasty. Mad flavorful:) I had the shrimp pasta. Certainly a hole in a wall joint. But worth coming for takeout on a late night when you're in no mood to cook! They have a kitten running around the place which is unsanitary...only reason why I didn't give 5 stars
