Mr Hook Fish & Chicken

This review is 1/2 based on service 1/2 food taste/quality. Mr.Hook is probably better if you're closer to the location and can pick up the order. Ordered via Grubhub and got a pretty simple order Fried fish platter and Seafood combo... However since the restaurant was 29 mins away, 45 minutes was the wait, it took Three Hours! Ordered at 5:45pm arrived 8:35pm... Called the restaurant at the two hour mark and they said the cook had accidentally made the wrong order... the person who answered the phone mentioned that she would throw in an extra but no extras were included... I'm not one to ask for anything free! However if you offer to do a courtesy you should probably follow through or just not mention it, go figure...but seriously I've never had a take out order take longer then this... so if craving a good fried fish platter be prepared to wait.... The quality for a west philadelphia seafood spot is pretty decent. Flavor is on point for the fried fish and greens are also well seasoned and tasty. Mac n Cheese is generic so skip that but overall if it hadn't taken as long it would have been better. Ended up pre-heating the oven before it arrived since it was warm... not hot..

Quality of food wasn't bad, I could tell the seafood wasn't fresh and that it had been frozen prior BUT the reason for my lack of stars hardly has anything to do with the food, which I believe deserves a 3.6. I ordered food from here on DoorDash, my initial wait time was 45 minutes which ended up being TWO HOURS!! If you're hungry and want to eat right away, don't depend on this place to serve you in a timely manner because you will be disappointed.

Not at all what I expected, it's a fish and chip place with an eat in counter. I ordered 6 wings with fries. I'm pretty sure they might remove this. But it was over cooked almost burnt, oil was dirty; you can taste it, place was dirty. Have it two stars for the super friendly order taker, register person.

I've only had their Alaskan Crabs, Salmon Nuggets, shrimp and mussels. Everything AMAZING. I've called ten minutes before closing and still experienced great service and delicious food.

Horrible just horrible. I ordered a combination platter that has catfish, scallops and shrimp with mac n cheese and coleslaw.. I also ordered chicken wings. The catfish was fried soo hard it was hard like pork rinds. it was inedible. I bit into the scallops, the breading fell off and they had a nasty odor. Could not eat them.. The shrimp also had soo much breading, it fell off and i just ate them without it. The mac and cheese was from out of a box and the coleslaw was soo sweet rhat i couldn't eat it. After only able to eat 3 shrimp I was glad i ordered wings on the side. I opened the bag the wings came in and all of them were burnt. I was so upset I wasted $40 on this mess. How can a business allow food to leave their establishment like that. I will never, ever order from them again. EVER..

My fav place for fried fish for over a decade! I live all the way in the county and my food is always correct and still burning hot.

Stopped by and purchased a whiting fish sandwich it was some kind of good, I mean fresh and pippin hot plenty of napkins tartar sauce and hot sauce. You surely get your monies worth.

Customer service is very unprofessional fish was good but Mac and cheese no thanks this was my first time ordering from this store they really need to train the customer service people very disrespectful it's crazy who would want to order from a place that can't show respect I'd lose my appetite

I like Mr Hooks! they're good , plus they are reasonable and you know what's also a perk? if you have EBT / food stamps! LISTENNNNNN, you can get HOT FOOD! like do you hear me ? like that's big! The service is average but it's good! & I feel like you can get a bang for your buck!

Don't not patronize this restaurant. They don't stand by their food. I placed an order yesterday November 11 2022 to be delivered and when my order came at 4 30 pm they didn't send my full order. Called them right away and today is November 12th and I still haven't gotten my money or my food. They told me they would send someone when they could and I called until 11 pm last night. The Manager had the nerve to say they were busy and they will credit me on my next order. There will NEVER be a next order!
