We were looking for an Indian restaurant in this area and found some good reviews, so we wanted to try this place. This is in a small shopping mall area and has enough parking available. There is a pizza shop nearby with beverages too. This place is a BYOB. As we entered the restaurant it is well maintained and nice decor. There is a buffet section, and they have lunch buffet during the weekend on Saturday and Sunday. The tables are nicely maintained. I saw that at least 3 tables were occupied, and a lot of take out orders were going. We got the menu and ordered meat appetizer Platter and goat kadai with garlic Naan. The staff is very friendly to work with as we changed some options and he is able to accommodate it. Coming to the food, the goat kadai went well with garlic Naan, and it tasted okay with white rice. But much better with Naan. The goat was so tender and cooked well. The appetizer Platter cane with 2 tandoori pieces, 3 to 4 chicken Tikka , malai kabab, and then 3 to 4 shrimp. The chicken felt so soft and delicious. Garlic Naan was delicious, too. We will definitely visit this place one more time!!

My wife was in the mood for Butter Chicken and told me that we didn't have the ingredients to make it. So, I said, "That must mean you want to go out to an Indian restaurant." And she agreed. We decided to try a new one and Mayura was our choice. We got to the colorful restaurant just before six on a Friday evening and for most of our meal were the only ones inside. However, a steady stream of customers were in and out of the place picking up their to-go orders. The empty buffet stations were on one side and there were several tables and booths. Since we were the only ones there sitting, our server gave us all the attention. We ordered samosa, chicken tikka avocado salad, garlic naan, butter chicken, and goat biriyani. We were very happy with the food. The two samosas were crispy outside and delicate inside with the flavorful tamarind sauce. The chicken tikka avocado salad was a nice "good for sharing" size with a light dressing that was so pleasing. Could've used a little more chicken, but still very good. My wife loved the naan (no bread for me right now) and her butter chicken was almost milkshake thick and definitely made with heavy cream. Again, a bit skimpy on the amount of chicken. The basmati rice was cooked perfectly. Lastly, the goat biriyani came out and I was like, "Oh boy," because it was a voluminous mountain of rice and seemingly a great amount of goat pieces cooked quite well. I may have only finished a quarter of it, but this was also meant for sharing. It will be great for my lunches next week!We enjoyed our experience at Mayura and will make a return trip when Indian food is calling. The buffet is available on weekends only and costs $20 an adult. For our meal, it was $63.68 for everything above including $6 for two cans of Coke. We tipped generously.

The host/waiter is helpful and attentive. He does a great job explaining things on the menu. Mayura is a tidy and spacious restaurant. The decorations at this restaurant are my favorite! I ordered the chicken tikka masala and it was very filling and delicious, however, it was a bit too sweet for my liking. The garlic naan is amazing and fresh, never disappoints!

Great food! This is my third visit. Always on point. Not a huge fan of their weekend lunch buffets, but if you are there for dinner, you will be pleased with the flavors. Shown in the pics are goat curry, chilly chicken and kerala parotta.

I wanted to take a break from cooking at home for once, so I ordered chicken curry. Simple request, right? The masala didn't taste right at all. It tasted like it was meant for a vegetable curry for some reason. The curry was extremely oily and chunky with not cooked down onions. The young kid that works in the front of the restaurant really needs to take classes on customer service. I greeted him with a hello, and he didn't respond and was straight faced and almost irritated for some reason. I said I was a picking up and gave him my name. He then came back with the chicken and no thanks for your business or have a good day and still straight faced and silent like I kicked his dog or something. I know other customers who said the same thing about this person when they came to pick up food as well. *Pro Tip- It doesn't cost anything to be polite to people. I won't order from here again. My family ordered biriyani from them months prior, and it was not good either. Sad when you know you can cook better than a "Professional" establishment. I'll just keep cooking for me and my Mom.My advice to whoever is reading this and contemplating whether or not to buy food from here is to go to amazon and buy a " cooking Indian food for dummies" book and take a gamble on yourself because it cannot be any worse that what you would get from here. ** Had to mention whoever the older gentleman was who took my phone call and took my order was very nice and pleasant on the phone.

I have been coming here for the last 2 years bc its the best priced Indian food in the area. Honestly before they switched to new management they were 5 stars for me. However, ever since they switched management its almost as if the flavor of their food has gotten blander/milder. The garlic naan i had today was so under seasoned and dry without much, if any, garlic flavor. (Used to be coated in flavorful garlic oil and more chopped garlic) I also live not even 5 minutes away, and within that time, the naan was already super soggy I had to rebake it in the oven to get it crisp again. The texture is definitely much better if you dine in at the restaurant. Today I got their butter chicken at spicy level, which I never tried before and the chana masala at medium spice level, which I have gotten before. So with the chana masala, even at medium spice it used to have a slight kick with good flavors. I don't know if it was an off day because its a Saturday afternoon, but it was really mild today flavorwise. It did taste pretty good but just different from before. The butter chicken, I can't really compare with new/old management since i never had it before, but I asked for it to be spicy, and it ended up being quite sweet instead. I don't know if they had some doubts about my spice tolerance because my english sounds native over the phone but I'm quite disappointed that it wasn't as spicy as other dishes I've had from them in the past. Overall, I still recommend coming here. The food is good and satisfies my Indian food cravings well enough for a decent price and the larger portions than other Indian restaurants in the area. Just gonna have to order extra spicy from now on for my spice tolerance I guess. *May update with more photos if I can find them in my archives.

There have been a stream of Indian restaurants at this location on Krewstown Road, just off Grant, but none of them have stuck until now. Me thinks the Mayura may break that trend and hang around for a long while. The dining room is colorful, the service is friendly, if not quite polished, and the menu is South Indian with an interesting list of vegetarian and non-vegetarian choices. We went with appetizers of Veggies Samosas, Onion Bajhi; large bowls of Vegetable Korma and Chicken Masala, and a smaller plate of Indo Chinese Chili Chicken. A basket of Garlic Ginger Naan and supply of Basmati Rice completed the table. Of course, we ordered way too much, but after tasting everything, we were happy to bring the leftovers home. The Samosas were golden fried and filled with mashed potatoes and green peas. Very good. The Onion Bajhi were basically dipped and deep fried in a light flour batter, made to be complemented by an excellent sweet/tart tamarind sauce. The Korma was a load of soft veggies in a dark tan cashew mild curry reduction. The Masala was darker and spicier, while the Chili Chicken was a decent rendition of the interaction between Chinese and Indian notions of inbred meals, not as crisp as found in Tibet, but leaning on Szechuan red chili with tumeric bite from south of the border. Each was a carousel of flavor and texture that deserved a trek in the high mountains between the two nations where life is hard , yet a grand adventure. We enjoyed it all. Oh, and the Naan was great with that hint of ginger mixed with garlic. The only downside was the Mango Lassi, which was from a mix that was so thick that it could not be pulled through a straw, and required major dilution with water in order to get it down the gullet. Otherwise, Mayura was all around a strong showing with only slight fraying around the edges.

I have been to Mayura for the buffet multiple times and take away. I enjoy trying authentic and different dishes than I have tried elsewhere. The lamb curry, saag paneer, fish curry, fish fry, okra and veg curries, coconut chicken, shrimp with peppers and onions, sambar...I could go on are excellent. The friendliness of the owner, family and staff are what make it even better! Definitely come for a visit. Weekend buffet gets really busy so coming early or at 2p will beat the crowd.

I have only positive notes! The atmosphere is lovely, the staff is sweet, and the cuisine is luscious. My husband had the 'railway chicken' and really liked it, he is a tough critic. I had a masala dosa, yum, and the crispy eggplant chaat. 5 stars. What I am really jazzed about though is the weekend buffet. It seems that there will be many more Kerala dishes available then. There is something to try called kapu, I think it's a pounded tuber with spices. This would be my ultimate dream restaurant if there was anywhere to dine outside but it's a strip mall location. No worries if you normally dine indoors. They were also super kind about allowing us to use our own takeout containers. We will be back !
