Traveling through Philly and of course I have to get a cheesesteak!? That would be criminal if I didn't. Was recommended John's Roast Pork through a friend in the area.Walked up to the counter and ordered my cheesesteak with onions and mushroom. The sign said 12oz of steak so I knew I was in for a ride. That was definitely the best cheesesteak I've ever had in my life. Soft yet crunchy bread soaking up the juices from the steak. The steak was meaty and seasoned well. My hands were covered in juice. I will be back for another soon!

Hands down the best cheesesteak I ever had. The quality of the meat used in the sandwich by itself is excellent. There's a sweetness to the meat if that is possible. The choice of cheese worked and gave the sandwich that creamy taste and texture.I also ordered the roast pork sandwich. My son and I were not as impressed with that as much as the cheese steak. The pepper taste was a bit overpowering and I did not like the spinach. Spinach just does not hold up well in the heat for long especially if the sandwich is going to be wrapped up in aluminum foil. The spinach was borderline slimy and mushy. Broccoli rabe would have been a better choice.

Ambiance: (3/5) they do have outdoor seating (covered and not covered) which is nice, but not a single fan. It was pretty difficult to sit outside in July. Price: (4/5) Average for the area.Food: (5/5) This is the best cheesesteak I've tried so far. The meat was tender and flavorful and they had a good amount of cheese. I had onions added to mine and they added a nice crush.Service: (5/5) Food comes out pretty quick considering how popular the place is.

After returning to this establishment in many years... it's still the best. Can't say enough about JRP. Just get the cheesesteak; nothing else needs to be said! (Please refer to my previous review)

Of course, we tried to hunt down the best cheesesteak in Philly! John's came highly recommended so my friends and I stopped by for lunch. It has a very casual, down home feel with a covered seating area to enjoy. It was way too hot to eat outside so we ordered to-go, but I could see myself eating there in cooler months; it was a lively atmosphere. The line was long but it was moving swiftly and the staff was friendly. I tried the bruschetta cheesesteak and it was just okay. Despite being a HUGE sandwich, the meat didn't have much flavor and I think the sauce from the tomatoes made the sandwich unnecessarily soggy.I'm not opposed to coming back and trying something different on the menu, they had plenty to choose from!

Food: chicken steak (no cheese), added grilled onions and sweet peppers. Very juicy and the bread fresh. Only comes in large so I ate half for lunch and half for dinner!Definitely better than Geno's or Pat's. This place was recommended to us a the best from a UPenn graduate. Service: line up and place your order then step aside and wait for your number to be called. the chicken took a while which is to be expected since it's made to order and it's chicken. Ambiance: some covered outdoor seating and some outdoor picnic tables with umbrellas. Parking: street parking. This place is located on a corner in a pretty industrial area.

Pulled up to John's and finally saw what the hype was about. Easily the best roast pork sandwich I've ever had and their cheesesteak is nothing to sleep on either. Much better than all of the tourist traps in Philly. The bread is awesome and appears to have sesame seeds of some kind baked into it. The roast pork has a somewhat spicy pepper taste which is just enough. Also, make sure to order the red gravy to go with both. Will be back again very soon.

Plenty of street parking spots near by. They have a few seats under covers attached to the building and some outside. You go around to the side to order and wait until your number is called. We got the philly cheesesteak since I keep hearing that it's one of the best places in Philly and the roast pork (it's in the name) and they were indeed very good. The portion was large and we couldn't finish it all between two adults and two kids! I think the consensus was that the cheesesteak was better than the roast pork, but they were both delicious.

Pretty awesome massive Philly cheesesteak. One is enough for two people easily. The meat was juicy and with the cheese sublime.

Heard lots of hype about this place so I figure I needed to come. I came in on Wednesday around 1 pm. There were people waiting outside but the line moved really quickly.Menu is pretty straight forward. I tried a large cheese steak and a large pork roast. Those plus a Coke came out to be around $32-33. The sandwiches are massive. Both had great flavor and were super unique (at least for an out of towner). They didn't have cheese wiz but that wasn't a huge deal for me.Customer service is nice and it looks like they have seating as well!
