Babas Hot Chicken & Brews

I was in the area and was hungry for HOT chicken! I ordered one of Baba's plates - sandwich + tender and 2 sides. After ordering my food, I then realized they had beer on tap!! I guess that's what "and brews" meant.There was some trepidation on my part since I'm not one to put pickles or slaw on my sandwich. The hot original was a lil' messy - but I loved it - all of it. I got collard greens and the potato salad for my sides and they both provided just the right contrast. The single tender was perfectly cooked and yummy. They brought my food to me at one of the outside tables - smooth.For beers, I tried the ale and the lager - both were very good. I will definitely come back for the hot chicken, sides and cold beer.

Nice place good service the young dark skinned man is very polite and helpful.Food is very good. I wish this place was bigger and had some more tables.Been here three times always fast service and good food with an unusual menu. There is beer here on tap.

This place surprised me. 1) Most hot chicken places don't deliver on the "hot." I ordered the trio plate and the wingding/tender were not that hot. It seems like they didn't apply it well enough, because the chicken sandwich had my mouth on FIRE. One of the hottest food experiences, and I like hot food. I probably will get the Insanity and not their hottest (Permanent Insanity) though, next time. It was intense, lol. 2) Most hot chicken places only serve fries, and a salad if you're lucky. The potato salad and greens were very tasty. I wasn't expecting much from the potato salad because it's light, and I like mustard in mine. But it had everything else. And tbe greens were surprisingly good. Plenty salt going on, I'm sure, so I couldn't eat this everything day. But I'll definitely be back for that heat. Glad they are in the area.I forgot: I did had the banana pudding, and wasn't a big fan. Tasted artificial: needed real banana and maybe some cream cheese, or just cream for that matter. I'll try the peach cobbler next time, but the rest of the meal was too good to knock off a star.

I've been there twice the the last 3 days and had 2 completely different experiences. If i could rate a 3.5 stars I would so I'm going with a 3. Thursday 1/29/24 ordered lunch for work:Southern Bbq chicken (permanent insanity heat): *VERY SPICY!!* I have to give kudos to whoever made this hot.. it's actually spicy and packs a hell of a punch! Enjoyed the spice level. However, if you're going to call this a barbecue sandwich, it needs more barbecue sauce than just the quarter size dollop in the middle.. tasted zero bbq Chicken tender- very good. Fries: right amount of crispness. Mac & Cheese: very similar to Wawa's. Just ok. Peach cobbler: I enjoyed this. My coworkers tried the custard and banana pudding: both enjoyed their desserts.Fast forward to today 2/1/24 ordered dinner for the family: Collard Greens: Good seasoning. EnjoyableMacaroni salad: I have no idea what kind of macaroni salad this was but it's was more like a pasta salad- with cheese and tomatoes . Didn't have much creaminess and was very dry. Not a fan of this. Coleslaw: loved it on the sandwich, didn't like it by itself. Fries: this time were soggy. Disappointing Chicken wings: LET'S TALK ABOUT THESE WINGS. This was my first experience of the "no heat" option for spice. I didn't realize that this also meant ZERO flavor. The coating just tasted like crispy fried flour. My mom and husband both tried the wings and nobody liked them- there was just something off putting. The skin underneath was thick and gummy which was causing the coating to fall off. Even tried putting them in the air fryer and it didn't help. We threw these outside for the animals to eat. Very disappointed as we paid $20 for 4 wings and 2 sides and didn't like any of them. Final thoughts: I enjoyed the chicken sandwich's and tenders. Fries are a hit of miss. Not a huge fan of any of the sides I've tried. Give their sandwich's and tenders a shot!! Definitely worth a try. If you love spicy chicken, then there is on point!!!

Delicious chicken sandwich. I ordered the hot Mac sandwich, the southern bbq sandwich, a side of fries, and the Mac and cheese. The sandwiches were flavorful, crispy, and juicy at the same time. In comparison to other local chicken joints, there are more options for type of sandwich flavor combo as well as wing, wrap, and tender options. The portion of chicken was substantial as well. My more spice inclined friend did note though, if you want your actual spice level order 1 higher than you expect. The plain fries were crispy, would definitely opt for getting them seasoned or topped with cheese or sauce. The Mac and cheese was your regular tasting stovetop Mac, nothing to phone home about but satisfying enough. The service was prompt and the restaurant was very clean. It was a takeout order, but could definitely see myself grabbing a beer and another sandwich another time.

Quite possibly the best hot chicken sandwich period. It's not heavily breaded nor is it greasy but it's got a great crunch and the chicken is very moist and tender. Now the hot sauce....it's hot for sure but it's also full of taste. You don't feel heavy or regret eating the food. You feel like you got great food at a good price with no guilt. The staff is very friendly and the place is clean and doesn't smell like grease. The bun and their Baba sauce are also a perfect complement. Last, but not least, the fries. They're a must to have with the sandwich.

Mac and cheese bland but chicken on point. Newer so services is a a bit slow. Will be interesting to see how they do across from Chik fil a but I definitely recommend trying it.

Delicious! Just ate there and had mild chicken strips and crinkly fries which I ordered well done. The chicken was crisp and moist. Will be back!!

I was looking for something for dinner for my parents and I, and they tend to be picky. I ordered two original chicken sandwiches and a bbq one along with fries. They were delicious, and my parents who normally complain really enjoyed their food! I'll definitely be ordering from here again:-) The fries were super crispy too, so good!

they advertised in the DE news journal and on instagram that they would open Aug 28. When you went to their store (and paid for parking for an hour.. $2.25) There were no signs. There was no phone number to call and in fact.. no one showed up to 11 am - so we and two others waited for an hour for the supposedly free chicken sandwich and in the HEAT (IT WAS 90 DEGREES)...
