"Traditional, and Unique Udon! You can choose to sit either indoors or outdoors at this restaurant. The server was friendly and he recommended some menu items. Aside from regular udon, they also offered creative options like ramen-style or pasta-inspired udon. With so many choices, it's a great spot for first-timers trying udon.Beef Sukiyaki Udon:Since it was cold, I went with a hot pot-style udon to warm up. The slightly sweet broth became even more flavorful with a sprinkle of shichimi chili powder from the table--it added a nice kick and tasted amazing!"

"Came here on Valentine's Day to grab a quick dinner. This is in a shopping center so there's plenty of parking. We wanted to do take out, but we kept calling for over 20 mins and we couldn't get through so we decided to just go in. It was crazy busy for take out orders and they were running over 20-30 mins behind. We were seated right away, but our appetizer did take over 45 mins to be served and our rolls took over an hour. The servers were nice and I was trying to be understanding that they were running behind and already had some really rude customers that had screamed at them. Chicken Karaage - 5/5 - the chicken was good and crispy when it came out and I really enjoyed the dipping sauce.Philadelphia Roll - 4/5 - the portions were pretty big considered to other placesCalifornia Deluxe Roll - 4/5 - pretty basic #1 Roll - 4/5 - it had a lot of flavor and tasted really fresh."
"Sushi Koya is a hidden gem when it comes to Bay Area Japanese cuisine. You can tell the quality of fish is high and they really take care of their customers here. If you want to order the biggest sushi roll you have ever seen, it's on the menu called Monstar. Be sure to split with a friend, because you won't be able to finish it yourself unless you're a true whale."
"I love sushi, but it's expensive, so I don't go out often to enjoy it. We arrived here about thirty minutes before they closed. The restaurant was empty, so we were seated right away. As with many sushi restaurants, the menu was extensive and it was difficult to decide what to get. We settled on the spicy salmon roll, Rainbow roll, and soft shell crab appetizer - nothing fancy. They brought out some complimentary miso soup and it was too salty to finish, so we took a few sips and set it aside. They brought out the spicy salmon roll and rainbow roll before the appetizer, which I guess was ok, but I would have preferred it the other way around. Anyway, the fish was mediocre - nothing special or memorable. It got the job done. The soft-shell crab appetizer was overcooked. They must have fried it for too long to the point where the crab was chewy. This appetizer was so greasy it was difficult to finish. They made no secret that they were in a rush to close the restaurant, giving me my check and reminding me they were closing the doors in five minutes. This is my second time to this restaurant, and I certainly wouldn't go out of my way to come back unless I was in the area and they were one of the only places open. Like I said, the food wasn't bad, but it also didn't taste that fresh either compared to other sushi restaurants I've been to across the Bay Area. Quality was right in the middle. I would recommend people try this place, but certainly don't go out of your way for it."
"Grilled salt salmon is the best lunch option in town!I am surprised there is such an authentic Japanese restaurant nearby the area. Their lunch menu definitely features some of my favorite item including grilled fishes.I have tried grilled Hokke and salmon, however, salmon is my favorite. It comes with three different side dishes. Best of all, the soup that it came with was NOT miso soup! Finally a refreshing change. At night time its a traditional Japanese izakaya."
"Food is always great and service too! I cant wait to try their other menu. It's a must to try this place! Minimal parking but you can have another option to park when you are done with your grocery shopping you might go ahead and get your quick lunch or dinner in this location."
"Perfect non-AYCE shabu shabu in the heart of Japantown, San Jose. Nice little place with friend and attentive service. The food is good, the meats and the veggies are fresh. We opted for the medium size of meat and that was plenty. I come up and get my tattoo at the shop a block up and been wanting to try Shabu Time for a while now. May have to stop in again when I fly up from LA for my next session."
"Location, service, and food all great. I feel like this place is a hidden gem in Oakland for some bomb sushi and very reasonable prices for the Bay Area. Anytime anybody wants sushi, I take them here and have gotten always had a good time. They also do all you can drink sake which is fun but be ready to drink cuz they really be filling up the sake. I like that it's near lake Merritt and in a walking area so u can take a nice walk after eating so much sushi instead of just exiting into a parking lot and getting in your car. Place is great and a GO-TO for good sushi and vibes"
"Really cute and cozy Japanese izakaya. Food was all tasty and authentic. Ordered the negitoro roll, chicken nanban, salmon ochazuke, and the salmon sashimi bento. Fish tasted high quality and chicken was juicy. The California roll was also surprisingly good, I'll definitely be back to try more of the dishes."
"Sizzling Lunch is conveniently located near our home, and I had often heard about its popularity. However, I hesitated to visit, assuming the vegetarian options would be limited--especially since their website only listed one. But I'm glad we finally gave it a try because I couldn't have been more wrong! The food was flavorful, and there were several vegetarian options to choose from. I started with the Cheese Corn, a skillet of sweet corn topped with a generous amount of melted cheese. It was rich and slightly sweet, but a dash of salt and pepper balanced the flavors nicely.Next, I tried the Potato Croquette with Curry Sauce, served on a sizzling plate with croquettes, rice, and vegetables. The curry was wonderfully spiced and truly elevated the dish. Adding some of their signature sauces took it to the next level. We also ordered the Cucumber Salad, which was refreshing and came with a tangy plum sauce (instead of the usual fish sauce). Other vegetarian items on the menu included Tofu with Curry and Tofu Pepper Rice, both of which I plan to try next time. One thing worth noting is that their website isn't up-to-date, as it doesn't reflect the variety of vegetarian dishes available. The service was exceptional. The staff patiently answered all my questions, walked us through the menu, and ensured we had a great first visit. With delicious food and such attentive service, we'll definitely be returning to Sizzling Lunch!"
"Never disappoints. Their sushi comes in big sizes with reasonable prices. We love coming to this sushi place whenever we visit the livermore outlets. Good service and good ambiance. May need some updates on the seats and the wall. This place looks old but still gets a lot of customers. Will certainly come back for more."

Best dinner I've had in Mountain View! We visited on a Friday evening and waited about 20 minutes to be seated. The interior was surprisingly classy, with exposed brick walls and cool lighting fixtures/panels of succulents. For drinks, I ordered a Lychee Soda which came in a fun little light-up pouch! The flavor was tasty as well, and I liked that it wasn't too tart. We also got an order of Chicken Karaage to share as an appetizer. The portion size was generous and the chicken was perfectly cooked. However, the tiny dollop of sauce it came with wasn't nearly enough - like, it was almost comically small. For my entree, I chose the Mentai Cream Sauce Udon and my friend got the Tonkotsu Udon. The Mentai Cream Sauce Udon was insane! It was the perfect crossover of a creamy, cheesy pasta dish and a traditional Japanese Udon. The flavors of the parmesan cheese and cod roe went together so well, and it was super fulling. The regular size was perfect for me! My friend also loved his Tonkotsu Udon. Service was impressively fast and our server was very attentive. I dropped my napkin, and he was handing me a new one before it even hit the ground. Overall, an awesome experience - will be returning!

I like the idea of conveyor belt sushi and I like the Hello Kitty decor in the restaurant, but maybe it was an off night when my friends and I came here. We were left with what I consider a lackluster experience.Papasan Rolls is located inside a plaza. There's parking in front, but it's a small section of parking compared to the rest of the plaza so you may have better luck parking on the other side and then walking over. The restaurant itself is relatively small. One look inside and you see the entire restaurant. They do try to utilize most of the space, but it's definitely not for large gatherings. There's a few different types of rolls going along the conveyor and then you can use the tablet to order additional items to your table. I must admit - I was enticed by the rainbow lights and the elevated mood of hanging with my friends, but the food to me was pretty average tasting. There was also an issue this night with our tablet because while we ordered food, only some of the food arrived at the table and the other foods seemed to have gone to another due to a mix up in numbers. The server was apologetic and quickly rectified it by getting the food re-ordered, but I just wasn't impressed by the flavor. Overall, 3 stars because it's a fun option if you're with friends or kids, but I wouldn't come here thinking I'm going to have the best sushi.

The food was absolutely delicious, and the service was impressively quick! I'll definitely be returning for more - it's clear this place knows how to deliver exceptional flavors. As a bonus, they treated us to a complimentary scoop of green tea ice cream, which was the perfect finishing touch. I think I've just discovered one of my new favorite local spots in Newark!

Cozy little spot! Service is always on point! Our waitress was super friendly! The food is always fresh! I've had their chicken teriyaki bento box, chicken katsu. I've introduced several of my coworkers to this spot and they all have liked it.

Ok so I started a new job and for lunch they wanted to take me out I chose Kazuma After eating I didn't feel bad but once I got home from work I started feeling illI thought due to me changing my diet recently (not having red meats) maybe it was due to that Really bad runs all night I've been fasting for 24 hours before having a meal this was the only food I ate after my fastNext day I wanted to go out for lunch againSo I decided sushi would be healthy again and I was feeling slightly better Man I pull up They food inspector was leaving and had placed a closed sign on the door due to them failing the inspection While he was walking away the woman was chasing him down pleading While that was happening The main chef very very angrily ripped the closed sign off the door!Like he was gunna disregard the inspectors decision Back to the lady hostessShe's begging the inspector Then another cook runs up to him as what I could see trying to bribe him Then he talks at them he's is going to call the police and to stay away at from him The chef comes out yells hella loudly at the woman and then the inspector enters his vehicle Would not eat here No wonder I didn't feel good They weee closed down for a good reason Idk if I should consider a lawyer lol

Was craving hot pot and decided on this place based off the review vs star ratio. Got right in before the dinner rush and service was really quick and friendly. The server was able to explain the menu super well to us when we found it a little confusing. He's also super attentive throughout the whole dining experience. Each meat entree comes with a variety of sides, kind of like a sampler set of all the vegetables, and then your choice of rice or vermicelli. This is by far the best broth that I've had for tonkatsu and sukiyaki. By far much more flavorful than shabuya. The meat quality was very good for the lean beef and the pork. I actually preferred these pork slices over the typical pork belly at hot pot places, much less fatty. The sauce and Goma dare were very very good. Overall solid and positive experience! At most, I wish we got more slices of carrots but I could've ordered them if I wanted to pay more. Ambiance is not chaotic at all except there seems to be a karaoke place underneath that makes your seat vibrate?? I don't mind but it's silly.

"Went to Kaki Sushi with my Son. Always good food. I ordered the Pork Katsu. My son ordered the Sashimi Deluxe dinner. And we split a Spicy Tuna and Spider roll.Started with Miso soup and green salad. I think it's pretty hard to screw up miso soup. And salad was a salad. My tonkatsu was very moist and came with a small container of tonkatsu sauce on the side with 3 slices of Takuan (pickled daikon). Tonkatsu also came with a small bowl of rice. My son's sashimi looked fresh. A good amount of 4 types of fish (Saba, Ahi, Sake, and Hamachi). The spicy tuna roll was 6 pieces. And I think the spider roll had 5 pieces. Little smaller portions than at other places but tasty. Service was good. Servers are always very nice and courteous. Food came out promptly. Was kinda surprised that my Tonkatsu came out before my son's sashimi dinner."
"The food could have little more flavorful with spices. The customer service was amazing and super polite. Its clean place but not fancy."
"Croffle and chicken - 4/5, chicken is good, not a fan of the croffle, taste too much like croissant Ube mochi pancake - 3/5, but too dry and needs the syrup, good portion size though and my kiddo loves itPoutine - 3.5/5, a bit heavy and not a lot of short rib Okonomiyaki tots - 5/5, prefer this flavor a lot moreKurobuta - 5/5, really good but so expensive for 3 tiny sausages Butterfly pea lemonade 1/5, don't get it, just don't Lavender latte - 5/5, really good flavor and would get this again"
"Hands down one of my favorite spots in Oakland, this sushi restaurant (and more) is such a vibe! Very close to Piedmont Ave. and Kaiser Oakland, Judoku is the perfect spot to dine outdoors with friends, a date, or just playing catch-up with a girlfriend. The staff is so accommodating and friendly, the interior inviting, but the outdoor area..unlike any other sushi spot in the East Bay with fun art, instagrammable backdrops, and just a cool essence. Well done! The menu is massive ~ we ordered the Kakiage Tempura and Bento Boxes for an afternoon lunch and omg what a deal! You can choose 2 or 3 items, so naturally we chose 3 ~ the avocado roll, teriyaki chicken, and pork gyoza accompanied by miso soup, edamame, and rice. Add a salad for a couple bucks if you're dining in! The Kakiage Tempura is so unique, crispy, and one of the most delicious appetizers in the East Bay..I said it! Delicate fried squares of shrimp, sweet potato, yellow onion, shitake and other root veggies combined into one bite. Glorious! And the value of what you can get in the bento box has me coming back for more. I only did the avocado roll this time, but can't wait to try more of their specialty rolls soon. Delicious and clean pieces of teriyaki meat, and super yummy gyoza, not too greasy at all. If you're in the area, coming from an appointment, or looking for a unique yet vibrant change to your typical sushi experience, Judoku hits the mark every time."
"Very good.Very clean. They treated you like family Come try them, it will be epic!-edK"
"Food: super yummy and came out really fast! Get anything with salmon on it and you won't be disappointed. Every roll we got was fresh and smelled great :) You also get a free ice cream at the end! Service: THEY ARE SOOOOO NICE HERE. The staff is very attentive and the wait went by fast. They're always checking in with you too! Ambiance: Sometimes sushi places are cramped or the table feels small, but that's not the case here. We had plenty of space for a big plate of sushi and our own personal plates. I love how MJ is open until 12 too! Great for an after work dinner."
"Amazing service, specially Jessica and Matthew. Very helpful since I had my two boys with me and they're just everywhere. The food is always good here."
"Ukai continues to be our favorite family go-to restaurant with hearty lunch/dinner specials and fresh sushi rolls.Last night we sampled their Crazy Crab roll. It had a spicy kick to it (but not overwhelming) and the tobiko/soft shell crab on top gave a nice crunchy texture to the roll. We all approved!"
"I was happy to find this place open till 8:00pm on Thanksgiving day (an hour earlier than their normal business hours, but good enough for me). Ordered for pickup in advance. The restaurant had a cute atmosphere with indoor seating, no one dining in on this holiday evening, not surprisingly, but a handful of takeout orders were neatly bagged and sitting on the table, my order ready when I arrived. The staff grabbed my bag and politely handed it to me, a simple and smooth process.I really enjoyed the baked lobster roll, with shrimp and crab meat and a lobster mix (large flavorful chunks), and a nice kick from the spicy mayo. It was so delicious, and a decent size for a meal. Wow, I sometimes feel like all sushi spots are fairly the same, but this one stood out to me with the quality and taste. It was definitely memorable, and makes me wanna come back for more."
"Pros:Large Portions, really fast service. Food was piping hot. It's nice that they have this Japanese & korean restaurant in between the Vietnam shops in case you want to try something else. Tastes Homely. The high ceilings are a nice add to the restaurant Cons: Nothing that comes across, is it the best korean food I have had? No, but it's still pretty good for a quick bite."
"This place is so good and the meat quality is amazing. Staff is on point and gets things done. Super duper love this place. The hubs, Skye and Matthew and I love this place more than other hot pots because of quality."
"Our favorite sushi place in the Bay Area. My family have all been to Japan and we feel this is as good as any sushi that we've had there. This time we went for my brothers birthday and they did not disappoint. Patricia was our server. So attentive and helpful. We did the omakaze sets. They're best sashim. We also ordered a side of oysters and butter fish. Yummy!!! And look what they served my brother for his birthday. Nice"
"We moved out of state and have tried several sushi restaurants elsewhere but have never found a place that compares to Sozo's. The rolls are fantastic and so varied and there are so many other entries and other options as well. Sozo's chefs, and the wait staff are outstanding. We never miss a chance to eat here whenever we return to Pleasanton. I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone who enjoys top quality dining."
"This place was so hit and miss. I ordered a bento with CA Roll, Mixed Tempura and Salmon Sashimi. My wife ordered the Chicken Sukiyaki and a Rainbow Roll for us to share. The bento came with miso soup which was at room temperature. Not even warm or have any steam coming from the bowl. The rainbow roll was good but the slicing was weird. You can tell that their knife may not be sharp enough. The Sukiyaki was on the sweet side. They forgot to include the fish cake and tofu as stated on the menu but no biggie. The bento was what really pisses me off. The tempura that came with the bento was 90% breading. Barely any shrimp. The batter was also very thick and looked different from the picture. Other than that service was nice. They refilled our water and tea frequently."
"I'm a bento box girl and the bento boxes here are GENEROUS.I used DoorDash to order for pick up on a Sunday evening. Quick and easy process: ordered on my phone and it was ready in the 15-20 min it took for me to drive here.I went with the chicken teriyaki + tempura + gyoza for $15. Maybe it looked extra generous because it was takeout and therefore given in 3 separate boxes. Still, it felt like a lot of food. Lots of chicken, big scoop of rice, and a salad in one box. 6 pcs tempura (4 veggie, 2 shrimp) in the next. And 3 pcs gyoza in the last box. Flavor wise, it was prob as good as any other sushi spot. I've had better crispier tempura at other places. The gyoza filling was tasty, though I'll say the sauce it came with didn't add much. Overall, though, still a good meal."
"Not really a sushi restaurant, but a Japanese restaurant.Great "wine" -- sake -- list. Tried a few. The Shiro Kirishima was my favorite last night, though that "honor" could have gone to another. Just an excellent glass of wine, served at the perfect temperature (slightly chilled, but not cold).Service was appropriate. We were there for almost three hours, and never felt rushed. The meal started with some pickled items that opened my palate. Up first was the "mini" chirashi bowl. It was loaded with a wide variety of fish and seafood (including a whole prawn and some octopus). For $21, methinks you might wanna check it out.Two grilled skewers, one rib-eye and one duck+leeks (kamo negi). I rarely eat duck (as I would be eating alone; like poor, neglected lamb, so few of my companions join me in exploring menus as they refuse to deviate from the beef-chicken-prawn trichotomy) but dang this was a great way to enjoy duck. The leeks added color, texture, and tons of flavor. The veritable coup de grâce was the salmon collar or "samonkara." Grilled, succulent salmon, full of flavor - the real finger-lickin' good (as if I lick my fingers, ever, cos that's what the napkin's for, diners). The price? Four people, plenty of food, flowing booze, and great laughs: $200, before tip. Just a great time and night.Check it out.- workingman's gourmand"
"Super nice servers and chef. Shout out to Ivanna for her recommendation. Very fresh and buttery salmon sashimi pieces that are thick and rich. The maguro tuna was more buttery than the salmon sashimi. We tried something new tonight that we have never eaten in Los Angeles. Escolar sashimi is a snake mackerel. Very light compared to salmon sashimi but buttery. It is nicely seared sous vide on the outside which brings out the rich flavor of the white fish. Learned something new in Alameda tonight."
"We had another great meal here on Monday. Service is always fast and friendly and the portions are quite generous. We had bento boxes and sushi. Everything was fresh and delicious. This is our go to place in the Cambrian area. I can't recommend it more highly. They take is also quite good. Prices are average and parking is easy."
"Food - 5/5Service - 6/5Ordered pickup and it was such a nice experience. As soon as our order was ready, the restaurant called to notify us.We ordered 2 nigiri deluxes and the owner, Wendy, was so sweet and added in a complimentary appetizer and beer! I had a brief conversation with her when I picked up the food and you can see she genuinely cares about the experience customers have at her restaurant. The nigiri was fresh and delicious! Also the egg rolls Wendy packed for us were truly the best we've ever tasted. I'd definitely recommend and come back."
"Pretty much my now go to for hot rice plate. Better than pepper lunch I would say. Garlic Pepper Beef plate is really good if you want some crunch texture into the mix.5/5Cheat day on the Pork Belly plate is mouth watering but you might want to mix it up with extra side of beef because the fattyness of the pork. 5/5OG Beef plate is the classic original. 5/5Pretty hits on the mark every time I come."
"I heard Fish Day recently renovated and rebranded to K Kitchen and Fish Day. Previous version was very yummy so thought it would be worth a try. I visited on a Saturday during lunch time. STARS (stand out qualities)-customer service was one of the biggest stars. the owner-couple were so warm, responsive and helpful-local business owned by people of color -food was good quality AND quantity-food came out freshly made and hot -food presentation was nice -owners gave extra for certain banchan since we ate it quickly-reusable eatingware -beautiful interior dining area with booths and tables/chairs-clean bathroom -plenty of parking STAIRS (areas of growth)-recommend compostable or biodegradable large takeout boxes (they did have small compostable ones) -prices feel high to me but I think they are competitive Bay Area prices. Worth the price for all the stars above TIPS-prepare for cash payment if you want discounted prices-I recommend the Chive Seafood Jeon and Ddeokbokki and which was very flavorful and packed with good ingredients -bring friends, family and coworkers! Seems to be a hidden gem at the moment"
"This is my favorite sushi spot in the area! Cute aesthetic, calm dinner place, fun anime movies to watch on the tvs. The staff is really friendly and can answer any questions about the rolls. Sushi is fresh and I always leave satisfied.Nigiri Trios - melt in your mouth quality with fresh tasteCrazy Monkey Roll - loaded and will fill you upNegi Hama Roll - simple roll, balanced amount of fish to rice"
"First time here from out of town, couldn't make a decision on a place to eat that was close to our hotel. Staff was very friendly, sushi was fresh and taste great. Highly recommend sushi restaurant close to the Residence Inn"
