"I've always passed by here to Hmart but never visited. One parent had organized a team basketball dinner here and I was surprised. Clean, decent seating, draft beer and wine. Cashiers were very pleasant and really accomodated our large group that consisted of 40 people. Ordered a half steakhouse/ chicken pesto pizza and it was delicious. Highly recommend."
"I really enjoy Cato's vibe. It has a neighborhood feel that welcomes anyone and everyone. They also offer an outstanding beer selection.Their food is expensive and, at best, average. During my last visit, I ate a cuban sandwich with dry bread and subpar ham. I think it cost me over $15. They also default to a 22% tip up front FOR COUNTER SERVICE. My family bussed our own dishes when we left..."

"If you fancy an intimate wine bar to converse quietly w/friends or charm your date in a relaxed setting, this is THE PERFECT SPOT.I'm weary they'll be packing them in once word gets out that they've opened back up post-pandemic. But alas, they "are" OPEN again (YAY!) and we need to celebrate and support gems like this. Note: menu, hrs, etc subject to change but current as of 05:01/22FYI: It is NOT a hotel. It is a wine bar/art gallery tucked away in an alley in SF's Hayes ValleyMENU: https://hotelbironwinebar.com/menuWINE: Order by the glass (generous pours!) or bottle from a well-curated, rotating selection of (red, white, sparkling) wines. They offer sake and artisan beer too. FLIGHTS: A trio of wine flights, vermouth flights, sake flights (changes)FOOD: limited, typical wine bar fare: cheese and charcuterie, crackers, chips, nutsAMBIANCE: This is the big draw for me. Speakeasy vibe, intimate, relaxed, rustic interior w/red brick walls, warm and inviting, romantic, dim lighting, candlelight, cozy, quiet, artsy, low-key, unpretentious. Cool background music eases you into a relaxed mood but is not loud, so you're not competing w/it and shouting to be heard. Equipped w/2 comfy couches, short/tall bistro chairs and tables, a cute tiny bar w/stools, and a revolving exhibition of local art that lines the walls.PERFECT FOR: Date night (so romantic!), after-work drinks, girls night out (for quiet convos), small groups (please stay away if you're the loud, rowdy set because a big part of the charm here is that it's relatively quiet compared to other bars/lounges) SERVICE: Attentive, fast, friendly (KJ is fabulous and very knowledgeable about the wine, so she'll help you make the right drink choice to mark the end of your eve.)HOURS: Open late EVERY single night 5pm-1am (nocturnal urbanites rejoice)! A quiet SF wine bar that's open late every night should be on the endangered biz list. So many sml businesses like this count on regular clientele to keep the doors open, so show your support by dropping by! Sun-Tues are slower and less-busy, so those nights are esp great for sml groups. First date? Then maybe the busier Thur-Frid nights (or an event night) may ease those first-date jitters. HAPPY- HOUR: 5-6pm daily ($7 vino!) EVENTS: They host cool, curated events like brand releases, art openings, etc. Check out their FB or IG page so you don't miss out! LOCATION: Remember, it's not a hotel. It's tucked in an alley right behind the popular Zuni Cafe. If ubering, go to Zuni Cafe and just walk behind it into Rose St alley until you come to a nondescript door that grants entry into this little gem. If taking Muni, get off on VanNess station (BART - get off at Civic Center) and just walk a few minutes West on Market St 'til you see Zuni Cafe and go right into Rose St. alley. CAPACITY: About 40 people max seating capacity. So hurry before hipsters get hold of this spot and you no longer get a table! I honestly can't believe it's been under the radar for this long. Mixed feelings abt sharing this review because I hate that it might get too crowded once people are smitten by its charm. I ADORE this lovely little wine bar and you will too! It's a welcome respite from a long day of working. Highly recommend."
"Walking up to Jack's for lunch, I couldn't help but admire the vibe--this place knows how to catch your eye! The sleek design and inviting outdoor seating were calling my name. Stepping inside, I was greeted with a classy, spotless interior that immediately set the tone. I barely had time to take it all in before being promptly seated in the bar area. And wow, what a bar--elegant, with big, beautiful screens hovering like trophies overhead. My lunch order? A half-pound of all-natural beef perfection, nestled on a toasted sesame brioche bun, with crisp lettuce, juicy tomato, and red onion. At first glance, I thought, "Huh, this burger's a little small," but then I noticed how satisfyingly thick it was. Bonus points for putting the lettuce and tomato on the side (I like to DIY my burger toppings). Now let me tell you about that first bite. OH. MY. GOD. A flavor explosion of perfectly cooked medium-rare beef and that glorious, smoky charbroil goodness. Seriously, it's like the charbroil gods blessed this burger. It's been a long time since I've had one this good. The fries? Solid natural-cut classics--good enough to keep eating, but let's be real, the burger was the star of this show. Jack's, you've officially made my lunchtime legendary."
"The wings are to die for! I asked them for the best beer and they delivered. It was called "the house".Great experience, staff is very friendly as well. Live music was playing when I got there it felt like I was at music festival or something. I also ordered a pizza the dough reminds me of something I ate in Italy...something similar to Blaze pizza here. I didn't care for the Kalamata olives on my topping.but all else was excellent. Would definitely one back!"
"A lovely place to meet friends. Great menu to pair with wine. Love the samosas and the Brie with prosciutto. The service was attentive and our server was bright smiles. Only complaint is the music was a bit loud. Love the atmosphere and the window table was great."
"UPDATE: it's not very often the owner of a business takes the time out for a 30 minute conversation, but she did! Marlene, thank you for listening and taking the time to connect with me. I will take my kids back to get their pizza replaced, plus a 2nd one! Marlene you have what it takes to run a well loved franchise, hang in there the food service industry like many others is recovering from "after covid desocialization effects". Keep working with your employees, hopefully the hiring pool improves! You still have a loyal customer raising your next generation of Bronco Billy's customer s! I will update the pictures when we pick up the replacement s. THANK YOU Marlene!"
"With the sad news that my favorite crawfish place closed (Crawdaddy in Milpitas), the fam tried out Shell Shock. It's a bit pricier than say, Cajun Crackin' in Milpitas, but the flavors are pretty good.We ordered mildly spicy SS House Special sauce *cajun, garlic butter, lemon pepper. Not hot, the hot link sausages were spicier. Go medium & beyond if spice is your life. Sauce is thicker here, like at Ray's Crab Shack.*Combo #1: 2 fresh crawfish +$4 & 1 shrimp (choose 3 lbs from shrimp, crawfish, clams, mussels) includes corn, potatoes, sausage*Combo #3: Dungeness crab + crawfish, shrimp, clams plain boil (choose either crab, snow crab legs, or lobster & 3 lbs from combo 1 options)*Dungeness crab plain boil: they give the option of cut/clean but without the main shell*Garlic Noodles: happy with this because of all the delectable garlic!I was a tad upset I found 3 inedible fresh crawfish (rubbery/easily crumbled with a sandy taste) but the rest of the 3lbs was fine. Shrimp was cooked well. The house special sauce had a slightly sweet taste that I'm not accustomed to with seafood boil.No wait at 5pm on a Saturday. Nautical interior with spacious seating. Staff is nice too. Waters were refilled, they checked on us, and also offer hot water to drink. I really enjoyed whoever's music playlist was playing on 5/20/23 around 5pm! I wouldn't mind coming back."
"I've come here twice now for breakfast and I'm not sure what I was originally expecting, but I have been so pleasantly surprised. The food is fresh, yummy, consistent. I love that there are options for hot breakfast, or açaí bowls. Fruits are always perfectly ripe. Omelettes cooked to perfection.Good vibes, good music, plenty of indoor seating and a few outdoor tables. Ordering is quickest via the QR codes on the tables. Folks who work here are friendly. Honestly wish I had come sooner!"

We came here after a long drive and ordered pizza and some wine. Both were delicious and pizza was made to order. They had multiple tvs to watch the warriors game and it was busy but not too crowded. The seating is spacious with plenty of booth seating for privacy.

Cato's is a local watering spot for the Piedmont Ave. business district. It's twin is Ben and Nick's in the Rockridge area. Both are mainstays in their respective neighborhoods but I digress. We'll talk B&N on another review. Cato's excels in its everyday, every person is welcome neighborhood bar for the locals and the visitors who happen upon Piedmont for the food, shopping, or routine appointment at Kaiser. The woodwork on the walls with high school era carvings and stickers tossed from the patrons makes you feel at home. There are different little areas to sit, the front room is like a garden room, lots of natural light, the green room with its two tables in a semi private enclave, three booths, lots of open tables and outdoor seating if you need to replenish your vitamin D. No pretension, just a nice spot to have a drink and a bite to eat. The food pairs well with its 23 rotating beers on tap. We had the carnitas tacos, regular burger and the special, Obama's Resurrection, a yummy steak and cheese sandwich. The food is yummy, simple, savory, and just right for the bar. Be sure to try the Pliny the Elder Pretzel too. If you just want a spot to catch up with friends or catch the Warriors or Giants game, dinner with the kids, or just a solo bite before or after your Kaiser appointment (better make it after), drop by Cato's. You won't be disappointed.

Wonderful hidden GEM of a wine/beer bar.Walking down Gough you'll find this intimate and inviting wine bar. Great for date nights or a friend date. Lighting is nice and relaxing. They have artwork on the walls inside for sale. If not buying it's wonderful to admire. If you're looking for a vibe this is it.Heck bring a group of friends, they have super comfortable sofas for a group 3-5. Also have tables and chairs as you can see,A bar area with an amazing bartender. Menu is nice and fairly priced.Bartender is just as much of a GEM as this off of the path establishment.

Went there to celebrate my birthday. It was a wonderful experience. They have nice seating area outdoors but we chose to sit inside which was awesome too . The food was really delicious. We ordered lamb chops , Jacks burger, kids hamburgers and kids chicken tenders . Loved all of them . The service was good . Our server helped us by suggesting their populars . It's conveniently located in the same complex as the Westgate mall, so you can do some shopping and then walk to the restaurant and have some yummy food .Absolutely recommended

Ordered a large pizza was the definitely OVERPRICED . I ended up paying about 50$ for a large pizza.I will not be coming here again. It was nice to give it a try but there was nothing special about the pizza . I have gone to places that make their own mozzarella from scratch still the pizza is not as expensive. The big man who was serving us the food was full of spirit . He was outgoing and made us feel welcome . He's the only reason this place got an extra star.

Came by here on a random day a couple weeks ago. We wanted wine and lunch - unfortunately their kitchen was closed so we munched on chips and salsa while enjoying our wine flights. Absolutely perfect location and spot - very nice inside and out with nice weather. Liked it very much and we will be back at a more convenient hour to sample the kitchen food.

Pizza, wings, and beer on tap. I hear mixed reviews - but have not had a problem. They get busy around 6:30 with a long line for the dinner rush, but if your food is good and consistent that's proof of it.

Holy crab, the reel-y awesome seafood spread at Shell shock seafood house had us anchored in a haven of oceanic flavors! Dive into one of the 3 Seafood Combos. I got combo 3, a maritime marvel with a whole Dungeness crab, tipping the scales at a hefty 1.5-2lbs, complemented by a medley of clams, crawfish, and shrimp. Each morsel was bathed in a rich and aromatic cajun sauce. The Garlic Noodles is a symphony of taste - tender noodles, all enrobed in a golden, garlicky embrace. It's a dish that sings of comfort and flavor. The Fried Shrimp Basket was my favorite. Each shrimp encased in a crisp, golden coat, paired impeccably with Garlic Cajun Fries - a duo that crunches and satisfies with every bite.End of your meal with a margarita or the various macaron ice creams. I love the casual sea theme and relatively quick service, although the seafood combo is a little pricey. Say 'shell yeah' to dive into a Cajun seafood boil asap!

"Stumbled on this restaurant on a Sunday afternoon and was so glad we stopped in for lunch. The food was great (recommend the Italian sandwich!). Large portions, authentic ingredients. Full bar! Plenty of seating. Clean restaurant. There's a patio, so I'm excited to come back on a sunny day. Good service as well."
"Brunch is AMAZING!! We had chilaquiles with house made chorizo INCREDIBLE and pork tamales with a lemon sauce and eggs DELICIOUS. Both came with black beans and guacamole and salsa. So WONDERFUL. The server was so kind and friendly. Beautiful seating outside on such a nice day. They also had cafe de olla which is a FANTASTIC cinnamon coffee."
"This place is wonderful ! The staff is kind, attentive, and even let the community make art in the walls ! We had an iced mocha and a vanilla latte, the coffee here is amazing!!!!!!! The garlic potatoes are yummy!!! We ate a bacon egg and cheese croissants and they were delicious!!!!! I will for sure return to this place!"
"Kimchi Garden is a hidden gem near Telegraph Ave. I'm down to go back!Food - 5/5- Ordered the Beef Kimbap, Spicy Pork Bibimbap, & Duk Bok Gi Great amount for 2 (surprised by the amount of Kimbap rolls)!Vibe - 5/5- Went here on a Friday (lunchtime) and it was not crowded! Ordered via Snackpass kiosks at the entryway (easy to use)!- The restaurant was larger than I expected - very spacious and plenty of seats!- Loved that they played BTS, Blackpink, and other great K-pop artists, too! Customer Service - 3/5- Easy pick-up at window. When I asked for a to-go bag, the employee persisted in checking the receipt before providing a bag (even though I sat and ate for 1+ hour). - Did not understand the holdup, but other than that, I enjoyed this place"
"Live music on Wednesday and great beer! What more do you need?Great place to come and grab a beer, hangout and snack on light bites."
"Quaint vibe with a deep funky bass line. I came in serenades by 80s times from the cure, to Bikini Kill to Joy Division. A Pilsner accompanied the DJ/bartender's excellent choice of tunes. Excellent service. Sitting along the great window and having a mushroom empanada rounded out the evening. Turning a lugubrious day into light and laughter."
"Excellent service! Stopped by for a quick bite and really enjoyed the experience. The indoor space is quite cozy, with around nine tables, but they also offer outdoor seating. Their hours cater to brunch, but the team was kind enough to seat us at 2:45, which was much appreciated! The atmosphere was great, and our waiter Nathan was both attentive and accommodating, even joking about the number of creamers I added to my coffee. Plenty of parking is available in the back, and the overall vibe was perfect for a relaxed brunch outing."
"Cork'n Bottle have a fantastic selection of beer & alcohol. A tasting room with many many many choices that is dog friendly and open late. It has the perfect dive bar feel to it. But most importantly fantastic customer service. Which is the best reason to come in and spend money. I highly recommend you come here. Especially if you're looking for something specific."
"I will always choose a good vibe over manufactured ambiance. Plenty of bars go out of their way to come off as fancy, pretentious, swanky. *yawn* Shovels is definitely not luxurious, but that's what makes it amazing. The drinks are exceptional and food impressively good. I stopped by on a Thursday afternoon and they took a handful of phones in food orders while I was there, which speaks to the quality of their offerings. Really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and will definitely be back."
"Absolute gem in the neighborhood. If there were more businesses like this in the Town, Oakland would be a better place. Its owner operated so they literally never miss on food, experience, and cocktails. This is my new go to spot."
"Best burger in the east bay and potentially SF. The service was excellent. Prove me wrong."
"This was the perfect place for my wife and I to enjoy our Valentine's Day dinner. Like so many we encountered who didn't reserve or previously plan in advance to go to a particular restaurant our options were limited. Thankfully, Hayashi came to the rescue. Although there was only 30 minutes until closing, management quickly seated us, and anyone else who followed, happy to serve them. The service was excellent. The food options were decent. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our combo meal which consisted of a delicious rainbow roll and teriyaki beef. In addition to that we ordered some alcohol, but I cannot recall unfortunately, the drink my wife ordered. It came in a really cool bottle that had ice cubes centered out in the middle to keep the alcohol nice and cold. Both of us were more than satisfied. Not just in the quality of food, great service, but beautiful scenery that carried an aura of happiness for each customer that was seated in their restaurant. We look forward to coming back here again, and I happily write this place a 5/5!"
"We had a great experience as an after work HH today! The bartender/I assume owner or manager from his vibe, was extremely friendly and accommodating. The chips and salsa and guac which we got to munch on were absolutely delicious. The patio furniture was updated from the previous edition of this place and I will 100% be coming back."
"I cannot resist ordering the Hickory or Guaco Bacon Burger whenever we stop by. Paired with a nice cold beer and garlic fries, the whole meal is complete. Nice place to watch hang out and for sports. Order at the counter and a buzzer is given to you to let you know when your food is ready."
