"Great interior and decor.Service is quick and efficient. The server covered several specials and I'm a shrimp and grits fan. When he said their version of this dish was fish (halibut) and sweet potatoe grits, I was very interested. When he said it was best with the halibut blackened, I was sold!!!The whole entree was delicious! Excellent all around and especially the cook on the fish. Not too much, not too little. Just right"
"Five stars! What a great experience! AYCE fried chicken meal at Monell's. You enter the landmark building & are seated with 12 people at a communal table. Fried chicken is the main start of this meal. It comes with sides such as cheddar cheese grits, corn grits, bacon, sausage, potatoes, ham, cinnamon rolls, biscuits & white gravy, pancakes, and more! Meals are served with sweet tea, coffee, unsweetened tea. Take a serving and pass to the left! The servers constantly check to see if the table has enough food! You will get your fill and the dishes never run out! Fun meeting people who live locally, across the nation, and even from Canada. Staff are fast and friendly!"

"So, this place is excellent, but be warned, I'm a hot food guy, and it's not as hot as I like but It was hot. It was very good, but if you're at all spice averse, order at least one level down from what you think you'll be able to handle. Overall, very good food, good service, cool decor. Don't worry, they have non - hot food, too, so don't let that dissuade you from eating here."
"Not gonna lie. I wasn't born and raised on grits. The closest thing I got to grits was Cream of Wheat for breakfast. Both are considered porridges but CoW is fine and grits are a bit more coarse. All my life I wanted to believe that grits was something special. But grits saturated in sausage lard and little seasoning never quite sat with me...or my stomach. But I consider myself a pretty open- minded and hopeful person...and that one day I'd find a grits worth eating. Today was that day. This smoked Gouda with bacon grits topped off with diced tomatoes and green onions was creamy and full of Southern hospitality. Sure, the cinnamon French toast was great, but the grits that accompanied the Traditional breakfast this morning will definitely make me come back! Our waitress was as hospitable as Southern hospitality comes and the great decor added to a nice experience."
"Good food (breakfast), great country service. Olivia was a delight and full of energy-we waited for nothing. Armed forces are honored throughout the restaurant. One issue is the restaurant is not ADA compliant. If you are in a wheelchair, you're not getting in, stairs as soon as you get through the front double doors."
"We had dinner here last night, spurred by the glowing reviews we'd seen. The service was excellent, and the dimmed decor created a wonderful ambiance. The hostess was very helpful, guiding us on where to park since the lot was packed. We loved it here--the dishes were well-portioned and unique. The only thing we felt was missing was perhaps a bit of salt and pepper, but it was perfectly fine without it.Regarding Yelp, I recently had my Elite status removed after 10 years because I'm a business owner. Despite not being related or affiliated with any food businesses--only a local real estate office in NY--Yelp managers believe a business owner shouldn't be an Elite reviewer. In my opinion, being a business owner shouldn't disqualify someone from providing honest and fair reviews of unrelated businesses. My reviews are meant to be helpful and honest, and I believe that shouldn't affect my Elite status."
"This was a little out of the way, but it got good marks on Yelp, so we went. We waited less than 10 minutes for our table (busy Sunday morning). Our server was fantastic and recommended their cinnatmon roll as a side, which we shared. He did good. Our food and service was all good and I wouldn't hesitate to come here again when in town."
"Stopped by on a college visit trip to Vandy with the youngest and the wifey. It was the "number one" Yelp suggested restaurant in Nashville, so I had to see what was up with that. Cool ass place! I see what it's ranked so high, it's very " New Nashville" if you will.... Lot's of "New Nashville" stereotypes and stereotypical places around. Arrived to find a small wait around 11:00 or so. Posted up on the wait list and we were accurately quoted 30 mins. Inside was pretty warm but they warned us at the door. It was misleading up front as it seemed cool, it got way worse as you got further in, but they did warn of the heat so I can't blame them. Open kitchen is cool, till it ain't, LOL. Kid had pancakes and bacon. Asked for extra syrup, got maybe one ounce extra for a dollar, WTF, that's strange. Bad thing, it still wasn't enough. Better bring one of those little bottles Cracker Barrel gives you here, yo. They were just ok pancakes. Wifey had the square bene. Cute presentation, looked really tasty . I didn't try it though. Well executed sight wise. She also ordered Tomato Gravy and two biscuits. She hated it and only ate one bite. It is unlike any tomato gravy I have ever had myself either. Biscuits were tiny, more like "bisc".... You know, abbreviated versions of biscuits. Come to Memphis, go to Sunrise or Kinfolk for a whole ass biscuit. I had the cold brew and corned beef hash skillet. Cold brew was standard, did its job though. CBH skillet was meh. Kinda dry all around. The beef was cut way too big for as tough as it was. Hash itself was pretty tasty though. Egg was cooked sunny too done, then sat under the lamp and got fully cooked so no relief there. Great idea for a dish though. Kinda sad I landed on my choice actually. I saw some other really other cool looking foods landing around us. Not all that impressed with my visit really. Would not wait again. '24 - 58/100"
"This is a small corner cafe in Nashville with very busy turnaround, yet relaxed dining environment. We came here around brunch time and waited for half an hour in line to get seated. It was worth the wait!We tried their salmon eggs Benedict, parfait and Tuscan 2.0 (tomato, fried eggs and cheese). Everything was delicious. All the other brunch places I've tried previously only provided you very think salmon pieces, but this place offered a big chunk of the fish! The Tuscan 2.0 was tasty as well. My favorite here was the brewed coffee. It was a must try. Even I usually have trouble taking caffeine, I can't resist the coffee here. It just tasted so good."
"So, the four of us decided to hit up this spot for brunch today. Everyone went the traditional route and ordered omelettes, but not me--I went rogue with a PB&J chicken biscuit. I asked them to swap the tomato jam for peach habanero, but they gave me plain peach jam instead. Luckily, they fixed it without any drama. The biscuit sandwich? Decent, but no fireworks.Meanwhile, my friends' omelettes were like a game of musical chairs; their orders got all mixed up.The place is tiny inside, and while they have outdoor seating, Mother Nature was throwing a tantrum with rain today. On the bright side, there's plenty of street parking!"
"I came here for the first time this morning and I believe I'm in love! I just moved here from the northeast and have been missing a good bagel. I ordered the nova bagel with lox and cream cheese on a spinach everything bagel. I was a very happy girl to say the least. The girls that work here are super sweet and helpful when ordering. I also ordered the lavender honey latte which was just delish. A little bit of the downside is the parking and the wait but honestly... its worth it."
"Mitchell's has quickly become our go-to lunch spot - and everything we've tried so far from their expansive menu has been incredibly tasty!I highly recommend ordering ahead online if possible ... especially on the weekend. If you do brave the dine-in line on a Saturday or a Sunday, be prepared to wait at least 20 minutes ... and you may have to quickly stake your claim on a table after ordering. The interior of the restaurant is casual and comforting, with almost a "local diner" feel to it. The outdoor patio is spacious and covered!Of the several sammies I've sampled, the Pastrami and Swiss is my favorite. I also quite liked their Turkey Brie, which is a unique take on the classic. We have yet to try any of their breakfast options ... but that's only because I always seem to be in more of a "lunch mood" when I'm ordering. I'm sure that will change one of these days."

Update- I was so pumped to bring my mom here because of the last experience. I wish it would have been better. We had the worst service, she never checked in until it was time to check out. We had to flag another wait staff to get water and another bar drink. When I asked for honey mustard she looked at me like I grew a third head (they don't have honey mustard). The food is still the star of the show. Make a reservation and enjoy.

Monell's is a must-visit! We arrived on a Saturday morning, and found a line of people already waiting. Despite the crowd, the wait for us was reasonable, taking only 25-30 minutes to be seated. One of Monell's unique aspects is its communal dining experience. You'll be seated at a large table with strangers, but the atmosphere is incredibly friendly and welcoming. Our table had room for 12 people, so if your party is smaller, you'll have the chance to meet new people. The food was absolutely fantastic! The servers brought out platters of delicious Southern staples, and we all passed them around the table. The biscuits and gravy were a standout, but everything from the potatoes to the breakfast meats was absolutely delicious. Amazingly, you can eat as much as you want and stay as long as you desire.I can't wait to return and experience Monell's again soon!

Very loud. We came for an early lunch and it was dead (but the blaring music made up for voices), which suited us. The chicken was dry. Like super dry. The Cole slaw as well. The beignets were yummy though but what isn't, covered in powdered sugar? The burger was cooked well but from a place specializing in chicken that's not saying much. Great service though.

After church on Sunday, my friends and I have this place a try! I recommend putting your name on the waitlist ahead of time online to save you from having to wait for a long time. We were under a 10 minute drive away so it definitely helped us to have our name on the list prior. Pretty busy on a Sunday which is typical, nothing crazy! Staff was kind and provided great recommendations! I ordered the City Grits and Blackstone Egg Benedict. I ate every last bit! Clean plate club! Not overly priced for being in Downtown/close to Broadway which I loved! I'd definitely come again to try out the menu!

I have been trying for so long to come and get a taste of 417. I finally did just that! Do recommend getting there rather early for the sake of the wait time. They DO NOT accept reservations. We went around 9:50am on a Sunday and had to wait for 20 minutes to be seated. As the morning went on wait times were a little longer. Prepare accordingly. Service is prompt and food came out fresh!! We ordered.. Crispy chicken pancake combo 5/5 Pancake combo 5/5 Banana Foster 5/5 Bloody Mary 3/5- they over did it on the amount of pepper in it. Pancakes are super fluffy and a decent size. You'll most likely have leftovers. Their portion sizes are decent and enough for prob two if you don't have a big appetite. Food was amazing! I'm not sure you could go wrong with anything on this menu. I will be back to try the breakfast quesadillas and fresh squeezed strawberry lemonade.

Super cute place with excellent service. Our dining experience however was a mixed bag. Food was mostly good except for a few issues with 2 dishes. The swordfish came out smelling fishy and not fresh. Not good. The chicken dish was partially uncooked. I'd also skip the meatball starter next time at $15 for 2 small meatballs. I guess I should have asked as we expected to share with 3 at our table. The cornbread, kale salad, gnocchi and sweet potatoes were all very good and worth getting.

Ok so this time my experience regarding the food flavor was far from enjoyable. The service in the other hand was nice so that's why I didn't say anything about it there. Salt... that chicken was tasteless and dry. I felt I was eating some kind of leather. The waffles were ok. The highlight was the mimosa... it was not too busy and they changed the layout of the seating area since I've been here.

Wow. This place. The building itself was so cool on the outside we knew we were going to have an amazing breakfast. They had an amazing breakfast cocktail menu so I had to try the blueberry gimlet. Absolutely divine flavor!I ordered the jalapeño breakfast cakes and man oh man was the flavor amazing. We all ordered something different so we got to try all the delicious flavors. Food was amazing, service was great and the overall vibe of this place was amazing. I'm not sure if they take reservations, but I would recommend getting there early if you don't. We got there right when they opened and it filled up pretty quick with people waiting outside for a table. The food is well worth the wait for sure!

"Let me start by saying this place has a cute interior! Also, the customer service was great! We ordered the shrimp and grits not knowing bacon came on it, and my husband is pescatarian so I asked to order one without it and was happy to pay for it but they told me not to worry and made us a new one, free of charge. The biscuits are amazing but the bonuts were my all time favorite! The lemon marscapone was the perfect compliment. We really enjoyed it here and I am glad I had the chance to go while we were in Nashville visiting."
"I liked this place and they have a lot of good options. The service and the waitress were awesome. The flavor of the food was good. The atmosphere was family friendly and the music was versatile. Didn't have to wait long to be seated or to get our food. Everything you order is Big and delicious."
"What a great place! Cool diner with bar seating (all stools with no backs, so could be uncomfortable for some). There are 3-4 sections with a server per section. The menu has standard southern comfort food. There are photos on the walls of Sun Studio artists so it's a nice Music City vibe."
"Came here with a large party for dinner on Saturday night, had no issues getting seated right away. Our server was new & she did an amazing job taking care of us. I tried the deconstructed salad w/ mild chicken and it was a huge portion, full of flavor, and really tasty. Private parking lot."
"Of course breakfast in Nashville means biscuits and Biscuit Love is one of the best spots! We've previously dined at Biscuit Love in The Gulch, but this Franklin location is amazing! Built in an older home in downtown, the place is beautiful. Same as in the other spot, you get in line and place your order. You're assigned a table and the food is delivered to you. We started out with "bonuts". These are like the best munchkins you could dream of! Little donuts with mascarpone and blueberry jam were the star of the show. We ordered the breakfast egg dish which was served with bacon, cheese grits, and a biscuit. Everything was delicious but the biscuit with jam makes the dish. Easy street parking and friendly service made this a breakfast to remember!"
"A look at this place and your taste buds will thank you! The small restaurant with big flavor, we had to try! Both types of Ramen were full flavor, and portions were fantastic!! The lady that took our order was a multi jobbed server, host, barista, and she was on point with refills and to chat with the customers. Giving this place a 10/10 definitely would recommend!"
"I'm a longtime Snoozer, and have made it my own personal mission to dine at as many Snoozes around the country as possible. My husband and I recently grabbed brunch at this location in East Nashville, and experienced truly exceptional service from Dominique. If you're not joining the waitlist ahead of time via the Yelp app ... what are you even doing?!? This is seriously the biggest brunch hack. When the Sunday Scaries hit, just pull up Snooze's Yelp page and join the waitlist. Then, you have a good estimate for when you'll be seated at the table. Sometimes the waitlist even moves a little quicker than estimated, which is always a win! When you arrive, you just check in at the host stand and let them know you're already on the waitlist. We were seated less than five minutes after arriving at the restaurant. I especially recommend this at this location, because they were absolutely slammed on a Sunday morning. Also - parking is easy peezy behind the restaurant, and it's free for your first 90 minutes! We were seated outside, which was actually really pleasant before the heat of the day. Our server Dominique was a rockstar - she was extremely attentive and offered great recommendations throughout our meal.I've eaten my way through most of the Snooze menu at this point, and can't say there's anything I wouldn't recommend. This time, I went with the Chilaquiles from their summer menu, which were absolutely delicious! I also love to add on a single pancake - the Sweet Potato Pecan is my favorite. If you've yet to hit Snooze, add this spot to your brunch plans ASAP. Plus ... if you visit on weekday, they have awesome drink specials! (We're talking $5 Bloody Mary's, which I don't think you can get anywhere else in East Nashville? Correct me if I'm wrong!!)"
"Nice restaurant downtown. They have valet parking because it is literally impossible to find a park anywhere. The nachos were okay and the French kiss was nice and strong. The meatloaf was okay along with the mashed potato's. Customer service was nice. I hope you enjoy."
"On a dark and dreary Saturday evening I needed good food and quick. My lady was out of town so my usual restrictions related to gluten free and veggie options were not in force so I decided to give full heed to my appetite for something I wanted-something tasty, something comforting and satisfying. A burger and fries. Now, where to go. Since I'm fairly new to EAST Nashville I decided to hit up the Yelps and I remembered that one of the selections presented to me had been recommended by an Eastie, The Grill Shack.I checked out the photos, the reviews and decided it was worth my time, money and calories and made my way down to this literal shack-beside the railroad tracks. It looks like a bait shop or some sort of mom-pop appliance or hardware store form the past but if you look closely you'll see a walk up window, a menu a table with some supplies and a few picnic tables for sitting. The crowd assembled there that night didn't speak or nod or share words, it was like we were there for our fix and didn't want to acknowledge the need we had, for a burger and fries. After ordering we waited in silence until the good goodness was ready. Can I say it was worth the wait and the time and the money and the calories. Both burger and fries were solid, no shame in their game. They have the receipe down for spicy ketchup-it's better than that national joint from TX that's moving in to the Nashville area. If my lady would allow, I'd eat it once on Monday, twice on Wednesday and three times on Sunday. When you need a burger and fries you don't need fancy, you need good honest solid food-Grill Shack is all that and more. I promise you won't be disappointed."
"very cool and hipster coffee shopSpacious and love the industrial feel They also have some interesting coffee selections; bourbon vanilla latte was very interestingCold brew was on the light spectrum but still had the roasted taste"
"My fav coffee shop in East Nashville to get some work done or meetup with friends. Only drawback is they close so early!"
"My beautiful friend (and Nashville local) J9 took me here.And...everything is beautiful.Beautiful people inside.Beautiful ambiance.Beautiful food. The food is also very unique. Some of my favorite places to eat use vegetables in unique and creative ways (not just salads and sides), and this is one of those places. I got a broccolini sandwich. It was delicous......and beautiful."
"This place is super duper cute, lots of seating and good place to get work done. I got the Iced YA latte - this was delicious. I loved the sweet not overpowering taste of the milky drink.Staff are also super friendly! Definitely recommend!"
"This old auto shop got converted into this eclectic, hipster, dive bar and eatery. They transformed it for many bands to showcase their talent. The food here are made in the house. It's fascinating to see the graffiti art on the wall and all the unique, colorful artistry behind their interior decor hanging around. They do need updates i their furniture, but I believe this is what makes their place one of a kind.As far as the food I loaded up in with their "Phat special" menu.I enjoyed their pita and hummus appetizer and the salad I got was good. The food wasnt as memorable as the decor. But it is a great place for vegans to vegetarians. There bar and their night life must be a hit. In the area.."
"So we are not much of breakfast folks but our Airbnb was right across the street and we need coffee in the morning. My travel buddy likes Bloody Mary's. So we walked right in early on a Wed morning before our grand adventures in Nashville started. We loved it so much we went back every day of our 4 day trip. The first day I was actually hungry so got a small plate of a la carte items like eggs and toast. Yummy! I never think eggs are yummy they are just eggs to me. However, man they were so good. My guess is they cook them in real butter which a lot of places no longer do. Their menu looks pretty amazing with a wide selection of delightful looking eats. Banana foster pancakes, bread pudding pancakes wow! That sounds so delish. We are positive you will find a meal everyone in your group will love. The Vanilla spiced hot latte I got was so good that I went back the next day to get one to go. So do keep in mind there is a wide difference in weekday versus weekend. Our first day was not busy but when we went on our last day ( a Saturday) to sit at the bar and have drinks to kill some time before heading out to the airport it was fully packed. ( and it was raining too) If we wanted a table there was a 30 minute wait. Not sure if they take reservations but explore that option if that is available. We ended up sitting at the bar which is a first come first serve type of deal but even that was packed. People were just leaving but every seat was taken at the bar. I stood next to my friend until more people left. That tells me it is a well loved place for sure. Lots of brunchers there. The service here is pretty amazing thus why I am giving a rare 5 stars to a breakfast place. We just loved Elizabeth. ( thee who goes by Catherine-she will get the joke) She was so great, funny, efficient, smart, and lovely. I guess that is the bonus of going on a weekday too. The servers are not in the weeds and can chat a little more and make you feel spoiled. Not that we got bad service on Saturday though, you know what I mean. Ha! The last day we also ran into a lovely woman who was just delightful. Sadly, I forgot her name, maybe Margaret or Melissa? It is maybe an M starting name? lol She is the retired woman who used to live in Massachusettes. Loved her too. Hope she gets a kudos from her boss too. The cafe has a cute Wizard of Oz shoe kind of decor and brunch themed word walls. They just need a yellow brick pathway out leading to the outside patio and out. And yes, I made the suggestion. The funny shirts on the waitstaff made us Giggle. "Mimosa made me do it" and a holiday themed brunch snide one. I am sure there were a lot more we just did not notice. So all in all this place made our trip memorable. We thank Ruby Sunshine for that experience and the kindness and outgoing welcomeness that greeted us in Nashville. EGGscellent."
"Solid and unique breakfast/lunch shop (and an institution in Brentwood) serving up crepes, Portuguese muffin breakfast sandwiches, decent coffee, amongst other (primarily breakfast-y) items.Gets busy and crowded after 8:30 am on weekends and keep in mind, orders for a crepe, omelette, or waffle can take 10-15 minutes to make, so while they do takeout, you should plan your time accordingly.Having eaten crepes in Paris, I wouldn't compare the quality here to what's available there, but I certainly thought the consistency was decent for when I really have a craving for a crepe. The sweet crepes, omelette, and Belgian waffle (which comes decadent with toppings and powdered sugar) are the stars of the menu. Nice outdoor seating that is dog friendly and private parking lot makes this a solid breakfast/brunch find."
"I moved here three weeks ago and really nervous about checking out my new surroundings alone. This place makes me feel very comfortable and welcoming. They provided a prompt friendly service, clean, and great warm lighting that's easy for my eyes. I ordered a hot classic caffe latte and a breakfast burrito, both were perfect for after the gym visit. Love their menu selections and outdoor patio to enjoy music row area. I will definitely come back."
"Amazing food, great people! The quiche was so good I bought a whole one for the family! The muffins! The coffee! Clean and cute!"
"If you are looking for good food and fast service, come here! We stopped by for brunch on a weekday and we were seated right away. The hostess was friendly as she greeted us when we walked in, and she dropped off menus as we sat down. We looked over the menu and it was simple and fast to look over. The server came over soon after and she took our orders. I ordered the #1 (two eggs, bacon, side of home fries and biscuit) I also asked for a side of gravy and sausage and I got a strawberry soda with the added "Zinger". My sister ordered the fried chicken and biscuit entrée. (fried chicken, with two eggs & pepper gravy) Food didn't take too long for it to arrive and it looked so good once it was brought out. It was a lot of food and everything was great. The sausage tasted really good and had a great flavor. I also really enjoyed the potatoes as they were hot and had a nice crunch on the outside. The biscuit with gravy tasted soooooooo good. The biscuit was moist, airy, and warm. The chicken was delicious and had a good taste to it.The only thing we didn't like was the soda with the added phosphate. That has got to be one of the nastiest drinks I've ever tried......The inside was clean and its decorated nicely for the holidays. Service was good, food was great, and we had a good time."
"This was a good find. They have a good variety of sandwiches on the menu, as well as tacos, breakfast, a number of side dish and salad options, and more. From the outside this place looks almost like it might be a dive bar. But don't be fooled! This is a good spot for a meal any time of day.So far my favorite has been The Cuban sandwich. The pork was tender and juicy, and the overall flavors were great. I've also had The Legend sandwich, which was good, though the roast beef wasn't super tender. The staff is helpful, and the food gets prepared quickly. Definitely a good place when you need a quick meal. They have tables both inside and out, and of course you can also get your food to go if you want.Overall a solid sandwich (and breakfast) spot that I'll definitely visit again."
"Didn't quite know what to expect here but we were so pleasantly surprised!! Some of the best drinks of our entire trip were here. Friendly service and unique atmosphere. I would come back in a heartbeat and can't wait to have another hibiscus skinny margarita! There's something for everyone!"
