Mukja Korean Fried Chicken

Visiting in Atlanta and wanted to try another fried chicken place. Had tried Gus' already. Wasn't expecting to try Korean style but glad we did. Four of us thought the chicken was delicious...nicely fried and juicy (even the white meat). We also tried their green salad (cabbage and corn with a 1000 Island-type dressing), Kimchee mac and cheese (not to our liking), and the Korean corn (kernels with mozzarella cheese). Didn't get a pic of our 1/2 bird before we chowed at it. For the Taiwan Beer, this was the least favorite version that we tried (mango and lychee were great tasting). The establishment itself was simple, with some bench seating and regular chairs around tables, black walls and a couple of tvs.You order at the counter and the menu is clearly displayed on the wall. The cashier was cheerful and welcoming. It wasn't long for our order to come up and the chicken was piping hot. We chose the honey garlic sauce, which was like the Asian take of syrup (a bit too much on the sweet side). It's definitely a place to go try when you're over there. Yum!

Mukja is pretty spacious inside with an industrial feel. The service was pretty fast as well.I ordered the Soy Garlic Wings and Korean Loaded Fries. I thought that the wings were not as crispy as typical Korean fried chicken that I have had, but it was still crispy and juicy. The sauce for the chicken is in a sauce cup that you drizzle or dip your chicken in and I did not like that too much as I felt like the flavors from the sauce did not absorb well into the chicken. I prefer my chicken to already be covered with the sauce coating. However, I did think that the Korean Loaded Fries were good!

Wait!! How have I not reviewed one of my faves, Mukja??! I first discovered this place a few years ago when I was searching for options on Uber Eats. I'm so happy I found this gem! Please note, this is NOT your typical Korean fried chicken place with the double fried, thick crispy skin laced in sauce. It's more of a traditional fried chicken but not overly battered. It's the perfect balance of thin, crispy skin and juicy meat. My gosh, it's so delicious! I also love how the sauce is served on the side vs. doused on top of the chicken. My go to order is the 10 piece wings with a side of Korean loaded fries and the sweet heatsauce. Bruhhhhh! Amazing! I really wish they had larger size options for the wings, because I would absolutely order double.

I had been wanting to check this place out for a while, so my friend and I finally walked over for a Saturday night dinner. Inside, the space felt pretty industrial and seemed like more of a takeout spot, but there was still plenty of space and seating. I ordered the wings with the Korean Sweet Heat sauce and also got a side of the roasted kimchi mac & cheese. The food came out pretty fast and the staff was super nice with getting us napkins to clean off our table which I appreciated. I found it a little strange the wings came with sauce on the side rather than coated in the sauce, but the wings themselves were super delicious and juicy! The sauce also had a fantastic blend of sweet and spicy. The star was definitely the kimchi mac n cheese though!! The mac n cheese was so creamy and cheesy and I LOVED the kimchi (and I'm usually not a kimchi person!). There was some great tanginess and flavors in the mac n cheese. Overall, neat spot and really solid food, but I wish the wings came dressed in sauce already and I'd probably just get takeout next time.

Just ok to me. It was almost completely empty when we visited on a Saturday afternoon. The cashier was knowledgeable and provided recommendations, but the food was just ok to me. I really loved the fries, especially the ones with the cheese powder. The chicken tenders were just ok, however. Nothing to really write home about. Could use some more seasoning. I wish you could try the different sauces vs. just kinda blindly pick one. I chose the sweet heat, with the hopes it would taste like the Chick-fil-A sweet sriracha. It didn't. :/ the wings are pretty small too.

Sauce review first, because I am a saucy guy:The ranch dressing is what dreams are made of.The hot honey is meh.Soy ginger sauce is delish.Will definitely try the comeback sauce next time.Chicken here is all-star level.We got the half chicken & the wings with a side (cheesy corn) and sauce.Chicken is cooked crispy and perfect. Served dry and not tossed in sauce.Reminds me of a spot called Turntable Chicken jazz in NYC.Cheesy corn side was good, not great. It was missing some seasoning IMO.We ordered and ate in, so everything was fresh. It was about 9:15pm and the spot was pretty empty with the exception of many people getting their pick up orders.Downside of eating at the restaurant was that the Coca-Cola magic soda machine that is supposed to have a bunch of different expressions of soda was out of nearly everything- including all variations of regular Coca-Cola

The Korean fried chicken was The crunch, juiciness, seasoning, the size. I loved the Korean Sweet Heat sauce to dip the chicken and fries in. The fries were very tasty, salty and crispy. The Mac & Cheese was not tasty at all but I'm sure someone would like it. The menu is simplistic. I appreciated the sauce being on the side versus cooked in. Ambiance was nothing special but I appreciate the cleanliness and simplicity.

The wings were very small but tasty. The kimchi's was mid and I probably wouldn't return.

Amazing Korean chicken, I will warn you the kimchi is not vegetarian. Great service! The different sauce options are great, the chicken is perfectly crisp and not oily.

I've eaten at Mukja many many times since they first opened. They have always been consistent, quick, accurate, and delicious. Food is cooked fresh and usually ready within 10 minutes fresh out of the fryers. They've never messed up an order and the food always tastes how I expect. The staff are friendly. This place deserves your business!Pro tips:All their sauces are amazing. I use them for everything, not just for food I ordered from them. I literally plan an order for when I need to restock on sauces.I also use their sides for quick additions to tacos at home - The Standard, cheese corn, and Korean Slaw are great for this.
