-Where do I begin... I've been going to this spot for a solid 3.5 years now. I work nearby, so you can only imagine how times that is. This place has had their up's and down's. For a solid minute they were amazing. great food and service, always had seats at the bar available for my coworkers and I... then they changed their staff/ownership and some things just weren't the same. They had shortened their happy hour menu and the food just wasn't hitting. I've never stopped passing by, just didn't go as often. Then, I found out they changed ownership once again. my oh my, what a blessing! Their happy hour menu is once again outstanding, food and drinks are up to par. service is quick and the bartenders make sure you never have an empty glass! my go-to is their house sake, spicy edamame, spicy salmon roll, dim sum, cucumber salad, wagyu tacos (to-die-for), salmon pizza, veggie roll, smoked tuna tataki--lowkey never had it served this way anywhere, but its soooo good. Their happy hour is til 7pm, but if you sit at the bar, it's all night!! honestly, where else can you get that?? please let me know. I think, even if I were to leave my job, I'll never stop visiting. The food and serveice is too good. Definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a good pit stop, first day, on vacation and don't want to go anywhere too fancy and even a nice family night. the spot is good for groups as well.Thursday, July 4, 2024 3 Uptown 66 TaqueriaI had seen this place circulating around social media and I finally got a chance to try it out! I was on my way home from work when I decided that I finally had to give them a try... of course, it was taco tuesday, so I was hoping the line wouldn't be too long. To my surprise, it wasn't. Parking is the only thing that's a bit tricky. I found a spot about a block away and made my way up to the line. There were a solid 3/4 guests, so less than a 10 min wait. Once you order, they give you a number and you go find a seat while they fire up your food. I ordered a barbacoa taco and steak burrito. The flavor was all there, but I'm not sure if a single small taco is worth $5...a bit much in my opinion. The steak burrito was a decent size; worth ordering again. I would like to try their happy hour menu next time! I'm a sucker for oysters and margaritas, they seem to have a lot of tasty options! I'd recommend coming here if you want to experience good quality Mexican and have some money to spend. I'd say prices range between $15-30 pp. I didn't get to try their birria tacos, but I did read that they won best birria taco, according to Good Morning America! Overall, good service and clean facility.Maiz y AgaveSometimes I stumble across these amazing places without planning it and I always get a good laugh out of it because I feel so lucky (from a foodie's perspective), especially when I have a great time! My friend recommended this spot, so I took a couple of my friends and they joined me in the rooftop. Lo and behold, this place had only been open two weeks. Seems to me, like I've walked into many places in the last two years that have just recently opened. Only a few catch my attention and this place totally did. Although I would have loved to have tried their food menu, the kitchen had just closed. So our only option was to drink and have fun! haha. Not for nothing, but I was served some of the best mezcal-based drinks ever. like they were made with so much love. I was downing them with ease because they were just that tasty. All the flavors were there with the overbearing flavor of alcohol. These mixologists know their stuff. I'd definitely love to come back and try out their food amongst other cocktails I didn't try. To be specific, I ordered the Mojito Bochero and Tell Zumo. The rooftop itself was super cute and romantic. music was on par; definitely a spot I'd use for a date, if you're trying to impress someone, or even a simple outing with friends.Thursday, July 4, 2

Very mixed feelings about this place- the truffled yellowtail was SO good & you could smell the truffle immediately- the soup dumplings were mid, the dough was undercooked and thick- charged $8 for water- long wait (even though it was pretty empty) and server didn't check on us often

Tanuki: A South Beach MirageTanuki, a stylish newcomer on South Beach's Alton Road, promises a sophisticated dining experience. Its sleek interior and trendy atmosphere certainly deliver on aesthetics. However, a recent visit revealed a stark contrast between the restaurant's appearance and the substance of its offerings. From the outset, service felt impersonal. A lackadaisical hostessing set a disappointing tone. Once seated, the beverage options were surprisingly limited to by-the-glass orders. A small can of Sprite, priced at an exorbitant $6, was a stark reminder of the venue's focus on profit over value. The culinary offerings were equally disappointing. A modest order of miso soup and Pad See Ew, totaling a staggering $46, arrived in portions more suited to an appetizer than a main course. The flavors were decent, but the price-to-portion ratio was egregious. Adding insult to injury, a mandatory 20% service charge was tacked onto the bill, with aggressive prompting for an additional tip.Tanuki undoubtedly has mastered the art of creating a visually appealing space. Unfortunately, the restaurant's priorities seem to lie more in aesthetics than in providing a satisfying dining experience. With a la carte prices that rival those of high-end establishments and portion sizes that barely qualify as substantial, it's clear that Tanuki is more interested in capitalizing on South Beach's tourist-driven economy than in cultivating a loyal clientele. While the restaurant may be a standout in terms of decor, it falls flat when it comes to delivering a truly memorable culinary experience.

So good. Staff were great and our waitress was the sweetest. Food was amazing and all homemade. So happy we skipped the crappy Chinese takeout joint down the block because Tanuki was fabulous.

This is one of our FAVORITE LOCAL SPOTS! The food it outstanding and I definitely recommend! Our daughter loves the food here so we visited for Christmas Eve and she ate the whole serving of shrimp fried rice (almost and she shared with me and I had to control myself not to eat all of her food!)New ownership!Hopefully new promotions for families!Tons of space and natural light make this restaurant the perfect brunch and lunch spot!Super friendly server!Nice background music which could be lowered during the day if the restaurant isn't busy.Always a favorite and we can't wait to go back!Merry Christmas!

At Tanuki in South Beach, the serene Zen atmosphere perfectly complements the enjoyable sushi offerings. Highlights like the dynamite shrimp and shrimp tacos burst with fresh flavors, making every bite a treat. The food was so captivating that we completely forgot to take pictures--a true testament to its quality. While the ambiance is tranquil and inviting, the service had its slower moments, with repeated requests for water refills needed. Overall, Tanuki is a great choice for anyone seeking a peaceful yet flavorful dining escape.

I used to adore Tanuki when we lived on the beach back in 2019, however, it seems to have changed a little. While there are still some of the same menu items I enjoyed (like the peking duck dumplings), it's not quite as incredible as it once was. Our waiter was great, he was very quick to serve us.On this visit we tried the salmon nigiri, black dragon roll, peking duck dumplings, bao buns, and the green tea mochi. The salmon nigiri seems to be dipped in something, it was a bit slimy (but not in a scary way). The black dragon roll was ok, it was their top rated menu item on Yelp. The peking duck dumplings were also ok. The bao buns were the best things we got. And the friend who came with me liked her green tea mochi. Think I had high expectations because of how amazing it used to be. I will say the Lychee Martini was incredible!

Wonderful atmosphere, great food and drinks! Happy hour makes this place affordable! Our waoter, Juan, was very attentive and helpful, and service was fast. The waygu tacos, wontons and guacamole, and lychee martinis were fabulous. My sons got ramen, sushi, bao, and saki and were just as happy with their purchases. We had a reservation, but really didn't need it, but it was 4th of July so possibly slower than usual. Highly recommend.

Food mediocre at best. Generous portions but low quality. Crispy brussel sprouts were boiled and fried. Spicy salmon roll was not spicy, not fresh, and way too much rice. Service ok, but not a word of English spoken, and not a single Japanese employee Nothing authentic here.
