Mai Sushi Tapas & Bar

Love this place! I came here for all day happy hour on Tuesday, starting at 4:30pm and it did not disappoint! All appetizers are 50% off and select sushi rolls are offered at a great price! There are traditional Japanese dishes as well as interesting and cool mash ups, like the pintxos, which I will need to come back to try. We ordered the Ika mentaiko butter, which was my absolute favorite dish. The ebi croquette was unique and delicious, and the karaage is always a classic tasty dish. Alongside the amazing food deals, the sake is $5 and the beers are $2. This is very hard to beat! The staff were all very nice and attentive. This is a great spot to catch up with friends or come for a cute date night. I will be back soon!

Solid hole-in-the-wall joint. Mai Sushi Tapas and Bar in Coral Gables is a hidden gem where the sushi is consistently fresh, and the atmosphere is laid-back and casual. It's the kind of place where you can feel comfortable in your jeans, yet still enjoy high-quality sushi without the frills.The sushi here is a standout, with fresh fish and well-prepared rolls that pack a punch in flavor. The spicy tuna roll and dragon roll are crowd favorites, and the nigiri is melt-in-your-mouth good. Aside from sushi, their tapas-style dishes like the crispy rice with spicy tuna offer a nice twist and are perfect for sharing.The service is friendly and efficient, and even though the space is on the smaller side, it adds to the cozy, neighborhood feel. Prices are reasonable for the quality, and if you're looking for a no-fuss spot with solid sushi, Mai Sushi is a great pick.

Had seen a fellow yelper rave about this place, and figured a rainy Saturday like today would be perfect to come by. Loved it, really enjoyed everything I had!Here's the chowdown:- Passionfruit Lychee Shisho- Seattle Amigo roll- Samurai Breakfast roll- Jalapeño Pineapple- Black Sesame MochiBoth of the rolls were highly recommended by the staff and I'm glad I took their word for it. Perfect sweet and salty contrast between them, devoured them as served. I had the Passionfruit lychee first and then the Jalapeño Pineapple, and if I had to do it again I would do it in reverse, as I think the Passionfruit Lychee would have been amazingly paired with the Black Sesame Mochi, which was an excellent closer :) They were out of the Matcha Mochi but hooked it up with matcha froth as a base. Oishii!Arigato Gozaimashita to everyone for their friendly service, definitely looking to come back ASAP!

This quaint restaurant boasts Japanese cuisine with a Spanish twist in the Gables. As far as I'm concerned it is a very cool concept and exceptional happy hour. $2 beer! And specials on select rolls and 50% off appetizers. We throughly enjoyed ordering as much as we could. Everything was truly delicious and felt pretty authentic Japanese. Our servers were awesome and kept the beers and sake coming. Overall, a very pleasant experience. I will be returning.

"Delicious, affordable sushi in Coral Gables" is a combination of words that's hard to believe, but Mai Sushi Tapas makes it true! This small spot just off Miracle Mile has the BEST sushi lunch deal I've ever had - the $24 box comes with a mix of cooked foods, sashimi, sushi, and their sushi pintxos, a unique Japanese/Spanish fusion snack. The food is excellent and modestly priced, the space is comfortable and welcoming, and the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive.Having to pay for parking in the Gables is annoying, but I'll happily do it to enjoy another fantastic lunch here!

Mai is a relatively new spot with lots of potential. The food is good. The service is friendly. And the prices reasonable. The place itself is a bit of a hodge podge and doesn't have much ambience. We went for lunch and enjoyed the special lunch box which comes with nine tapas including karage, California roll (which was quite tasty), two types of sashimi. It's a good lunch deal, filling and comes out quick. We will definitely be back.

The Katsu Don was exquisite, perfectly cooked, and full of flavor. The Mai Premium Box was another standout, offering a delightful assortment, sushi was fresh and delicious. At beginning I thought it was another Japanese Ramen place until I checked the menu. It's definitely a hidden gem in coral gables if you're fan of real Japanese sushi. Highly recommend this seasonal sushi box and the amazing sweet shrimp here. The place is not big so it's better to make a reservation before you go. Service is great & you will get some useful suggestions about what's the best fit for you. Will definitely come back. :)

This restaurant blew me away- it may be the best new restaurant of 2024?! Being from LA, I really missed Japanese food outside of sushi and the flavors here really remind of the flavors from back home. Their prices are also extremely fair for the quality of ingredients. FOOD My must try items are the soft shell crab and any of the pintxos. My favorite were the seared uni salmon and the unagi ankimo. It was also my first time trying snail and I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was! SERVICE Quick and nice! The owners are around too and I love when the owners are involved with their restaurant. AMBIANCE Casual and a very nicely decorated little corner restaurant. It's not a huge spot. They have several bar seating as well.
