Larry and Laney's Soul Food

First time here and I came durning lunch hour. Came with a coworker to get oxtails but was informed the oxtails are never ready before 2pm and usually are sold out by 5pm. That was a let down but now we know when to get there next time. I picked the honey glazed meat balls that comes with two sides. There were a lot of options for sides. Greens, yams, Mac and cheese, dressing etc. everything looked good and I picked the dressing and yams. Orders are made to go as there is no dine in option. Made it back to the office my meatballs were cold but the glaze was very flavorful. The dressing is homemade and made without meat. It had a nice taste to it. The yams were also good. Looking forward to going back for the oxtails!

We'd been meaning to stop by here for the longest, and finally did on yesterday. Larry & Laney's has the cafeteria style serving setup typical of most soul food restaurants. No seating so it's all to go. This is where their similarities to other soul food spots ended.I don't know if this is daily, but on this day they had an odd assortment of meats to choose from. No fried chicken, no smothered chicken, but they had 4 meats with an Asian style sweet chili sauce--pork chops, chicken, shrimp and meatballs. Yes...meatballs. There were three of us: One went with baked chicken, Mac n cheese and dressing. Another went with the sweet chili chicken, Mac n cheese and fries. (Yes...fries) I had the oxtails, dressing and greens. All the sides were tasty. The oxtails still had lots of fat on them so they were too greasy for my preference. The other meats were edible but no one was raving about them. If you live in the area and just want some soul food that "will do," check them out.

I can see why people go here. Not often times do you find exceptional service in the food industry, but I'll definitely give them this accolade. You can't help but to buy goods from the energetic and loud lady that proudly exclaims that most foods and desserts are homemade. She's really friendly, and most certainly adds to the experience. This is a small place and they are very COVID 19 conscience. Wear a mask to enter, put on gloves they provide at the entrance, don't touch their counter, take a clean pen to sign your receipt, e.t.c! I will not worry about food poisoning with this restaurant. The food itself is doable. You can bring every family member here because they don't over season the food. You get the soul food flavor without the worries about health declining with every delicious bite. I had the wing sampler and truly the honey glazed wings stood out the most. Make certain to get those. The desserts are homemade as well. I need to go back for the 7up cake, but the banana pudding made me wish I had more. I recommend giving them a try.

I wanted to see what their menu was like so I went into the restaurant and noticed they did not have any seating and I was hoping to eat lunch inside. The lady behind the counter was exceptionally nice and helpful. The only problem I have with the food is they add sugar to everything. How do I know because I asked her. Yes, they put sugar in the greens. Yes, they put sugar in some of the meat with the gravy and yes there is sugar in the sweet potatoes and of course the Kool Aid. A sweet high carbohydrate restaurant. Certainly not a place for a diabetic but for those who can Enjoy!

Just get the wings! The wings are amazing, Larry & Laney are sweet and very helpful!Between my friends and i, we spent about $85 and tried each others food. The soul food was disappointing and not good in our opinions. Especially for the price. The meatloaf was very small, the yams were just sweet potatoes in water, the macaroni was bland. The turkey pasta was okay but not for $4. We did the math over and over again and don't understand how between two people for two wing orders and a dinner came out to $85. We didnt get a receipt either so we have no idea what we were charged for. Would definitely come back for the wings only.

Great soul food place with lots of options. 3 meal and 6 side options with corn bread and 4 deserts. The place smelled so good. I was too early for the oxtail!

I want to say the service was outstanding. The owners are so helpful and go over and beyond. My husband got Salisbury steak,rice, cabbage and yams. The prices was $12.99 amazing. I got fried chicken, Mac and cheese and cabbage. Same price which is amazing. I got to put the honey sauce they have on my chicken. Holly cow it was so good. I was going to use hot sauce for my cabbage but that sauce hit the spot. Everything was amazing respectfully the yams just needed more sweetness.We also got dessert we got banana pudding which was amazing they added extra cookies for my husband. Definitely would order again and can't wait to go back. It is to go no places to sit and eat but she recommended a park around the corner which we went to and ate. Thank yall again for amazing service and food.

Service was excellent, samples of food were offered. The smothered pork chop was fall of the bone tender. The Mac and Cheese was very hold and the card greens were just right. The fried catfish was cooked correctly with a favorable corn meal batter.

One of my favorite soul food spots in the area :) I enjoy the honey hot wings, they have really good oxtails and their cornbread is very good. The fried chicken has a good rich flavor and it's a good taste of down south . If you're craving that southern feel you should come here

Respectfully, very disappointing. I did not like it at all, its crazy how good it smells in there though. I was fooled. If you do like it, thats good!
