Island Fruit

This place is a hidden jewel.I've drivin by this place without noticing it, I don't know how many times on the way home from work, but this evening I saw a sign advertising tacos for 1.50, The place is very small and unobtrusive...in a c class strip center... WAY too easy to miss. Appears to be run by a young husband and wife team working hard at the American dream.I ordered four tacos and the proprietor gave a me a bowl sample of something called Bionic fruit...or something. It had fruit and nuts all in a sweet milky sauce. It was categorized as a dessert, but it'd be great for a healthy breakfast! Anyway, I took the the tacos home and found them lovingly made and full of flavor. They said they started serving breakfast tacos...my only gripe is they don't open till 8 Am...just when I have to be at work...Thought it'd be great to surprise the office some Friday morning with a bag full of a dozen breakfast tacos to share. OH well...:(They have the typical northern mexico / tex mex fare but with an added sprinkling of fruit based salads, desserts, shakes and smoothies perhaps inspired by the southern style Mexican cuisine... hence the name..."Island Fruit Cafe" I really like this place...it deserves to succeed.

I drive past here everyday. This morning I decided I wanted a smoothie for breakfast and was on my way to Smoothie King. I've never tried this place so I quickly made a uTurn because why not? The strip centers around here are pretty lackluster and even when you step inside there isn't much to talk about. There was no wait inside, maybe 4 small tables with chairs, a Spanish morning show blaring on the tv, nothing special. I asked what type of smoothies they have and he told me papaya, mango, watermelon, banana, and strawberry. I asked for a watermelon strawberry smoothie to which he suggested he make it with water instead of milk because the watermelon wouldn't go well with it. I agreed and I'm glad I did. It was so fresh and fruitful. Not lacking flavor or quantity. He filled the little domed glass almost to the top which proved problematic as I exited and their door did not extend open as far as I anticipated and I spilled a little on myself. Outside of that this was a great experience I will come back later this week for a green shake and maybe some food. It's so refreshing to have a fruit smoothie with fruit and not concentrated fruit syrups and powders like big chains prepare.

Island Fruit Cafe is tucked away at the end of a small strip mall. But, if you can find it, it's worth stopping in for a fresh fruit smoothie. They have a great selection of fresh fruit to pick from and are always happy to please your palate.

Their hot plates are pipping hot. I had cheese quesadillas and cantaloupe aquas Fresca drink. They load you up with avocados and cheese.

Amazing food and delicious desserts that will definitely keep you coming back. Friendly service and the food is a masterpiece.

The food is great and the drinks and desserts are even better. So glad i stopped by on my day off to try it.

Delicious green smoothie made fresh from cucumber, celery, spinach, cilantro, pineapple, and aloe vera. Service was fast and courteous. I'll be returning very soon!
