I don't want to discourage people from Chino grubbing in a mall food court, but this was pretty whack, even by mediocre Chinese American standards. I'm really less annoyed at China Max than I am at myself, considering it was my idea to come here. I expected some level of disappointment and got more than I bargained for.Was it all desperation? Not entirely. The mall was closing up and only several food stands were still in operation. China Max was still giving out samples of what appeared to be teriyaki chicken, which for all accounts was somewhat tasty. Being that I had never heard of China Max before added to the intrigue, but what got me over the hump was seeing their workers dump what seemed like freshly made food into their bins. Not fearing the closing time leftovers, I went straight in for the steaming pile of noodles, various meat dishes, and whatever dumplings they were willing to include in the deal.It wasn't fancy, but for my small group and I, the meal was more about hanger management than it was sustenance. What we ordered was a messy collection of Chinese American classics ranging from beef and broccoli, pork dumplings, bourbon chicken over a heap of rice, stir fried lo mein, and the said teriyaki chicken that eventually looked like orange chicken. What followed was a series of grunts and grossed out facial expressions over what we attempted to eat. It was so greasy that some napkins fell into plates becoming immediately soaked. Everything had a coat of oil on it, even the stir fried noodles which were dripping once removed from the plate. We tried anything -- asking for additional condiments, buying something else, but we gave up and generally accepted our fate of ordering what felt like the wrong stuff. And yet somehow, we back for seconds. The next day was an argument of what to eat in the food court and no escape with a car, which eventually lead us to come back. Orders of fried spring rolls (cabbage mainly), Hawaii rice (?), sesame chicken, and something that looked like deep fried dumplings. The same result, no one finished their food and everyone was sad. At least we weren't hungry anymore. One last thing: Don't drink alcohol and park your car somewhere else. Get an Uber / Lyft.

Look, this is mall Chinese food place. What would you expect? An overly aggressive lady trying to offer you samples? Large portions of orange chicken? All for a price under $10? Sure. You'll get that here. But this place is a whole new level of nasty. The food is just awful... I mean really bad... Like I enjoy a good Chinese food gorge as much as the next guy, but this place is literally the worst I've ever experienced. Chipotle, Chick-fil-a, and Canes are all just a few feet away and you can get your gorge on there. Don't roll the dice on this place. Not worth it. Your bowels will thank you later...

Yum....did the job when you didn't know what to eat and at the mall with a baby and didn't want to wait 20 minutes or more at the Cheesecake Factory. My friend Kim and I went to her favorite greasy Chinese place and I have to say it was pretty good. Did the job is what I have to say to the meal. I forget that there is a food court in the Galleria and I rush in there and rush out of there usually trying to avoid staying there too long. Well evenings are not that bad and maybe the best times to shop there.

First Chinese food from a food court I've never been able to finish. Calling it Chinese food is a compliment... And staff yelling at you didn't help either. Uncovered utensils in an open basket not great considering pandemic. Went down the trash, just about ruined my appetite!

Love this place at the willow brook mall, next to Kelly's Cajun grill. Their orange chicken is good and no msg to the food. They have a chili oil that has a smoky taste love it. I don't come to the mall often but when I do I eat here. Their portions are very big, love it

It's better than ichiban. The shrimp fried rice is on the plain side but nothing a little packet of pepper and soy sauce can't fix. The beef and broccoli and the green beans are great.

Okay. If you're looking for a meal that will have you feeling like you gotta unbutton your pants for under $10... THIS IS YOUR PLACE. Call me basic but I like mediocre Chinese food lol Yeah, the staff lured me in by sticking a toothpick with a chunk of bourbon chicken in my face but it tasted good! It was worth it. Staff was super attentive and friendly. Fast paced since it was a long line. I ordered 2 meat plate (Bourbon Chicken and General Tso's Chicken) with shrimp fried rice. Total came out to be around $9. But they PACKED the plate with food. You definitely get your money's worth. Chicken was tender, saucy, & fresh. Rice tasted hot and fresh also. Only downside was it was kinda greasy. Feels like I just ate a buffalo but that's okay with me right now. I'm satisfied!

Chinese food in galleria Houston.. taste just like any other Chinese foodcourt food...You can try the entrees before you buy.. and I swear when i tried the orange chicken and teriyaki chicken it was good.. but when i sat down and ate my plate i wasn't very impress with the flavor.. Very bland.. only good thing is it's ready for you to eat and pick out what you want. Of course the service was fast and great customer service.. priced as any normal foodcourt Chinese food..

Chinese food wars! Ichiban and chinamax right next to each other. I like the ichiban name but got to try both and chinamax is way better. Fresher and more flavorful. I got 3 entrees, enough food for 2 people, for less than $10. Score. So much Chinese food goodness. They even have spicy orange chicken. Yum.
