The lunch special comes with chicken, three sides and a soda. I also chose boiled red potatoes and small arepas. I chose a Colombiana soda but paid $1.30 for it. Dodo's is a casual place where you order at the counter. While you get your order fairly fast and considered fast food, it's fresh."
"I moved from NYC to Houston (Queens to be more specific). I was having a hard time finding a Colombian restaurant with the authentic flavors I love, and grew up with in my beloved Medellin. Yes, there are some Colombian restaurants in Houston, BUT when it comes to the flavors, quality and attention (yep, service is a really big deal for me!) they failed miserably.... You miss one of these key ingredients in a Colombian restaurant, and in my book is wayyyyy below my Colombian restaurant standards. Oh and don't even mention the coffee! Gosh if I go to a Colombian restaurant, I want my cafe con leche to taste like real Colombian cafe con leche and not from a Keurig (that's NOT how you make Colombia coffee) at a Colombian restaurant, period! Well knowing how great the Houstonian gastronomy is, I was not going to give up and visited a few Colombian restaurants, that were disappointing. UNTIL one day, Made in Medellin came up on my Instagram feed and something told me to check it out. I finally made it to Made in Medellin, and OMGosh .... My heart smiled when I saw the cargamantos looking soooo delicious on the plate and the delicious bandeja Paisa .... Not to be dramatic (ok yes, I am dramatic) but I felt my heart smiled! I KNEW they were freshly made and not from a "yuge" can! Let's not ignore the chicharrón... aka the piece of meat I don't feel guilty cheating with LOL! The mondongo is yummy, with very generous amount of mondongo in it. Have I mention how delicious their beef empanadas are? Oh and their own branded ground coffee .... Well you better hold my cerveza and brew me some fresh ground coffee! By the way don't forget to take home a pack of 10 large arepas! These babies can be warmed up anytime of the day and have them with breakfast or whateveeerrr! They are sooooo delicious too! So yes, I highly recommend Made in Medellin. Thank you Carlos and your brother for maintaining the authenticity of our Colombian food"

"Found this place on Yelp and I thought about trying out something new as we wait for my kiddo's swim meet to resume. This place is only about 10 mins away so we thought we'd give it a shot. As we are parking, I checked-in and the app said first time check-ins get a free can of soda. So, it thought, sweet!We walk in and we're greeting by a timid young man who can't speak English at all (I'm always mistaken to be Hispanic because of my looks!). He immediately walked over to our table and gave out menus. Shortly after, he came back with a notepad presumably asking for our order. I said "water" in English and at first he wasn't quite sure what I was saying so my hubs a switch very limited Spanish language knowledge translated for me.He came back with 4 glasses of water and another lady that can at least speak some English. I showed the lady the Yelp freebie and her first response was "No". I asked why they had a Yelp sticker by their front door and why they're not honoring what they had set up for first time yelpers who are checking in. She looked super confused and told me to "hold on just a minute". Anyway, we went ahead and took our orders. I got the grilled pork chop dish with fried green plantain. Hubby got the dish with fried pork and fired sweet plantain. One kiddo got the beef enchilada meal and the other got the chicken quesadilla.As for the flavors, I have one word... WOW! This is our first time trying out Colombian food and it's DELISH!! Also, I'm Asian and the first thing I criticize is rice and how it's cooked. My first time trying out their rice and I'm hooked. I don't know how they flavor it and I'm going to have to look online to see how I can (maybe) recreate their rice! Overall, it was a pleasant experience! Oh, and going back to that free drink.... Well, the lady handed over their work phone and had me speak to the manager. I'm glad he's able to explain the "free" soda! Hopefully, the lady will know next time when another yelper comes in the door to show the free soda perk for first time check-ins."
"I absolutely love my experience at Las Caleñas. This is a family owned and operated restaurant. And the food is delicious. My lunch date recommended we eat here and i have no regrets. My meal was a great value and it was delicious. Pro tip: They have a fruity smoothie menu that you can't go wrong with. Staff: Super friendly & bilingual ( because I can't speak spanish) Parking: plenty of parking in front and side of the building."

The food was delicious and the service was good. we ordered three Tamals and it was good. I know sometimes the restaurant can get crowded but that's fine the food was delicious and the service was great. 5 stars for you guys.

Consistently good Colombian food in Katy, which we have not found elsewhere (and we've tried all of them). We've only ever done to-go, never eaten in but the food is always packed well and portions are great. We typically get the Picada which is loaded with various meats and starches or the bandeja Paisa! Highly recommend!

So awesome that I can't wait to go back. As you can see I was being a pig. No, I didn't eat it all. The gentleman(possibly the owner or Manager) that took my order let me try the fried Yuca. My fave was the bread with the cheese in it. So good that I will suggest to everyone I know and to strangers.

Urban cafe restaurant serving Comida Tipica Colombiana - this spot has an extensive selection of Colombian specialties for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Kids meals too. We started with yuca fritas (like thick French fries made from the yuca root) with spicy sauce - fresh, hot, crisp exterior and soft inside. Then some sweet plantains (maduros) along with arepas rellenas (arepa made from white corn areparina) filled with jamon y queso and another filled with queso y chorizo, chicharron, pollo. PRO TIP: tuck some maduros inside the arepa sandwich for a tasty alternative. We finished the meal with a bunuelo (like a donut hole pastry, again made with corn meal) - crispy outside and soft inside. And we snagged some empanadas to go. The arepas leaned a bit more Venezuelan than Colombian, but everything was legit. Good attentive friendly service in a clean, colorful atmosphere. Five stars for an extraordinary overall experience, but this place was excellent for a casual authentic meal.

Wow, not sure why this place doesn't have more reviews and stars. We came here after searching for Colombian food and decided to give it a shot. We were not disappointed at all. The restaurant is in a strip mall area off I-10 so at first we were nervous but you walk into this large restaurant with maybe 10-15 tables and you're immediately greeted by happy and friendly waitresses. It's open seating so you can sit in the main dining area or in the breakfast area. They even have some nice comfy chairs to sit and get a baked good and cup of coffee. The music is good and not too loud so you can still hear your friends/family and the waitress but not so quiet that you can also hear the table next to you. The food was amazing. We got an assortment and had so much leftovers. The bandeja paisa covered all the bases we wanted and then we added a few other items. We also got sancocho de res to go which will be dinner with the leftovers. This place is definitely a must if you're in the area (or not) and looking for authentic Colombian food.

There's a daiquiri place down the plaza and this went perfectly with our entrees. It took almost thirty minutes to receive our orders but the wait was well worth it. "Great for a late-night meal, snack, or drink!The Pandeja Paisa is enough to share for two people. It contains a grilled steak, pork belly, pork sausage, black sausage, fried egg, rice salad, fried ripe plantain, rice, red beans, avocado, and corn patty. I thought it was so-so since the meat did not have a lot of flavor to me, but I've been told this is one of the best in Southwest Houston. We also ordered the Salchipapas as an appetizer which had sausage (hot dogs) with french fries, ketchup, mayo, but next time I would like to order the Poderoso which has pork sausage, sausage, and pork belly in it. The restaurant was clean, nicely decorated, and service was attentive the night I dined in. There is also a bar to enjoy a little night cap!"

"I've been here twice now and can definitely say this food is as good as it gets! They serve up all kinds of classic Colombian treats for breakfast and lunch. So far, I've tried: Pan de Bono - deliciously cheesyBunuelos - more subtle cheese flavor, but my Cali friend says they're really authentic. Lechona - holy mother of all that is tasty! This stuff is legit! Lechona is roasted suckling pig that is stuffed and spiced with all kinds of goodness. They serve it here every other Saturday (except during the holiday season). Get it! It's delish. Huevos Perricos Breakfast - super duper filling breakfast. Eggs scrambled with tomato and green onion have a great flavor. And the Plantains were fried to crispy perfection. And like every Colombian would expect, you get a side of rice, too, which works nicely with the huevos. Empanadas - I tried a sweet one filled with Guayaba paste and cheese. Suuuper good, try it!And last, but certainly not least, the Pony Malta - this is the only place I've ever seen carry this soda. I don't typically drink soda, but for this I'd change up my rules. It's delicious, and if you ever see it anywhere, try it!The lady who runs the place is from Bogota and knows her way around the kitchen. I can't wait to get back here."
"Pretty tasty arepas and empanadas for a decent price! This is a food truck located right on Washington, in the parking lot near Heart! The bf decided to pick up some dinner for us one night and decided on an assortment of empanadas and 2 arepas! We got a cheese empanada, some potatoes and beef, and some potatoes and pulled pork. They were crispy, filled with lots of filling that was seasoned well, and fairly large! They come with 2 different sauces that add to the flavors! The two arepas we got were the Blondie (Catira) - shredded chicken with Gouda cheese! They came out hot, crispy exterior and delicious filling! I ate them cold when the bf brought them home and they were still good - can't wait to try them again fresh! He loves this place and we got a good amount of food for the price!"

The portion was huge. The waiter service was ok, he did apologize for not being attentive. My bf also witness the manager being "that type". Chimichuri sauce was good and gave the steak a nice flavor. I really liked that you didn't have to order at the truck. "This restaurant is in the location where Saizon Latino and other Cuban places have given it a try. I stopped in to check out the new tenant and see what Colombian cuisine has to offer. I got the Salteado Mixto from the Specialties menu, and chased it with one of their Natural Juices--blackberry for me.Salteado Mixto is a saute of round steak, popcorn shrimp and chicken. The proteins are cooked in a hearty, savory, mildly tomato-based sauce with lots of onions and peppers. It is served with a sticky white rice that has some flavor on its own but is of course best in the dish--I just shoveled it all in there, it could be served that way. The proteins were definitely fully done but ate just fine in that sauce. It's a very generous portion, plenty for a lunch the next day and it tasted even better. The dish comes with a mashed fried plantain cake on the side. I'm generally not excited by fried plantain and no change this time. But the entree was very good overall.The natural juices are a kind of fruit smoothie. They offered water or milk as a base and I chose water, but I think I'd do milk next time. A nice refreshing complement to the meal. They have lots of other tempting traditional drinks that I would try in the future.The menu is extensive. There are lots of choices in the appetizer section that could be meals on their own or assembled into one for a lot of variety. They have breakfast all day (open at 8) and it looks great. Also Monday-Friday lunch specials that are under $10 on the menu. And a full bar!I regret not being able to sample the bakery or desserts--just ran out of time. The desserts are not on the in-restaurant menu but they have items on display on the bar so there are choices.The restaurant is definitely geared toward Spanish speakers--my server didn't speak English. I know a few words and with pantomime and some help from the bartender we did just fine. The bathrooms were clean and ready. Like other iterations in this location, the restaurant has kept most of the decor from the previous places. They did get rid of the thatch over the bar. They take advantage of the stage for live music on the weekends. Service is paced for a relaxing dinner, so don't hurry like I ended up doing.I can't quite round it up to a 5 but I'm happy to recommend it, and my understanding from Colombian acquaintances is that it's the real deal."
"I stopped by Latino Bites Express for dinner on a Tuesday. This casual restaurant is located in a nondescript, small shopping center so parking won't be an issue. It's a relatively small restaurant with three or four tables so it seems like even though you can dine in, it's more of a grab-and-go type spot. Latino Bites Express brings together dishes from several Latin countries including Mexico, Venezuela, Columbia, Argentina, etc. You order at the counter and then they bring your food out to you. We ordered quite the feast so I got to sample a bunch of items off of their menu. This included their Latin burger which comes with avocado (always a plus) and a side of waffle fries. Beyond that, we also tried their quesadilla with beef which you can order with your choice of protein and two sizes. I also had an arepa with pork, an order of tequenos, and a bunch of sides including their elote, tostones, fries, and yucca fries. They also provide you with an assortment of sauces with the green one being mild and the rest hiking up the spice level. All of this was washed down with a watermelon agua fresca. All-around, the food was fantastic and great value for the price. The cashier was also super nice and friendly. I love the variety that their menu provides and I'll definitely be back to feast again!Added bonus: both a Yelp check-in deal and a Yelp deal are offered...choose wisely!"
