This gentrified Frenchies is a far cry from the good ol hood frenchies back in the day....I haven't been in years, so imagine my surprise when we pull up and the whole neighborhood changed. While aesthetically it looks nice, the soul is GONE.I still like the frenchies off Almeda that's next to a hood store...its FIRE. This original one on Scott?...dont waste ya money.

This is a mixed review. The fish was well cooked. However, no hot sauce! Yikes. The collards greens were atrocious!. Find somebody's mama, PLEASE. Should be totally arrested. I think they had 50 people serving people. The soda fountain didn't work. The cashless machine wasn't working. The chicken want hot.. Then, a homeless person walked up and asked to buy a piece of chicken for a dollar. Wait, we're am I.. ok, Texas has the same problems we all have. I won't be coming back to Frenchys. Service.. at least they were happy... I saw a review on Tiktok.. now I know you can't trust reviews. The restaurant was clean. And I was hungry. Now I'm sad and full of not good food. If I'm going to cheat, let my lips smack at least.!....

I first visited Frenchy's while dropping off my niece for her first year of college before heading back for my long drive home. I saw this small building with a long line. Back then, in 1902, it was only one location. But I do remember the chicken as having its own flavor and being very tasted, and to be honest, I haven't come across a crispy chicken and dirty rice since that tastes like Frenchy's. So, today, it was nice to go back down memory lane. The food was the same, very good. But what I don't remember is the college being directly across the street from Frenchy. I think maybe Frenchy moved down the street in front of the college. But, anywho, the chicken was good, and so was the dirty rice and greens. I love the cornbread, too. The peach cobbler as well, and I bought two of them. I guess you can say I'm a gluttony, but I knew it would be good, so I ordered two. Thanks for the good food and memories, Frenchy!

My go to meal! I wish I had equivalent pieces, the drumstick was smallllllllll! Can't put but finger on the taste of the Gris Gris sauce but it was very good. I went through the drive through & it took some time but the attendants provide quick and good service.

I'm in Houston and I had to try the popular Frenchy's Chicken! It is all what I heard about! And Beyoncé bragged about it highly in her recent renaissance film, so I had to try it. The food is so delicious made fresh and fried to perfection. Just very good! It's good to try other fried chicken and how they are prepared. This place has a variety of fried foods like shrimp, chicken, and fish. The service is good and they will tell you what's good and what to order from the menu. They are pleasant and patient while ordering. They call your name and order number when you order is ready. I recommend the chicken for sure and to try the shrimp and fish. I may have to go back before I leave to try it! The chicken was that good! And the prices were reasonable for combos. It's very nice inside and updated. It's plenty of seating outside and indoor. Very spacious and clean. The downside however, is that they do not give out hot sauce, only peppers , which will increase the spicy level. The greens were bland but cooked well just needed salt or hot sauce added to it :)Overall, it's a lot of parking in the lot and gets very busy with long lines. I recommend here and will come back again. The food pleased me, no complaints! I see why this is a popular gem in Houston since 1969. -Marshay D.

When I'm in Houston, I head for Frenchy's for excellent fried chicken at a loud friendly spot. Here, you don't need to choose your level of spice, because their chicken always hits that sweet spot between bland and spicy. The crunch level is just right as well, and the meat is tender and juicy. In a busy Saturday, the place was fully staffed, which is nice to see. Too many places these days seem to have too few people for decent customer service. Ad I sat, enjoying my meal, two guys were moving around the dining area, checking in with customers and cleaning up.Daryl came by, introduced himself and said to let him know if I needed anything. I told him what I need is a Frenchy's location in Austin. He gave a big laugh and said he'd pass that along. My only complaint is that whether you carry out or eat in, your order comes in a box--and in a plastic bag. The bag is pure waste if you eat in, and I hate eating out of a box! How about a plate or a paper tray for dining in?

After being on TSU campus most of the morning, we headed over to the student union and caught a whiff of some fried chicken and it wasn't the fast food chain on most campuses. It was coming from the dining hall. Decided to use Yelp and ran over here to Frenchy's Chicken, and was pleasantly surprised that it hit the spot for what we were smelling. The staff was fun as we cracked jokes to lighten the mood. They were professional and very informative to us newbies. They helped us out and decided to go with The three-piece combo as well as the five-piece wing combo. The cornbread was subpar and the greens and Mac were good compliments. The big surprise was the Boudin balls, a.k.a. egg rolls with boudin. Started off with just two and the server joked that I'll be back for more and she was right. Prior to leaving, I placed an order of 4 (which is a total of eight) to go and share with friends or family back at the house. Also grabbed a slice of Sweet Potato Pie and Lemon Cake for the road. Both were good.

The same great taste at their new place!! Two lane drive thru, walk up window and dine in options. The King Special is now the King Choice. I drive thru line was at a stand still for a while but when it got going it was great. The service from the greeters, traffic directors, and food handlers was great!!Thank you Frenchy's

More like Englishy's Chicken because the employees here didn't speak French and didn't seem fresh off the bus from Paris, Marseille, or anywhere else along those lines for that matter. Or should I say fresh off Le Concorde. But regardless, the wait time was a little off-putting, but the fried chicken was delicious, absolutely some of the best I've had in Texas, and highly recommended. I brought Bae here and she agrees completely. Top notch and well worth a try. There are a few different locations, and this one tastes excellent.

I have visited this place from time to time from the 80's until now. There is a vast difference in the taste and quality from the 80's until now. The food back in the day was ALWAYS fresh and flavorful. But now :-(I recently moved back to this area and have tried this place on THREE separate occasions and ALL THREE times the food was cold and the only flavor you could taste was on the skin of the chicken and it borderline salty. There was no flavor to the actual meat on the chicken. I ordered dirty rice and the fries and rice were soggy and bland. Having gone to this location three times with the same results is disappointing. I tried it more than once because i hoped it would get better or thought that my experience was just a one off. I think with three strikes I'll just move on
