There are multiple E-Star locations throughout Houston, but none newer than this location up north. Unlike the other sister spots, they've done a good job at modernizing what would otherwise be a very typical but solid buffet. There are parking spots aplenty and numerous seating options. The staff is robust and a diverse group of Spanish and Mandarin speakers, both young and older. The place looks rather grand upon entrance, especially considering the theme of the restaurant. As a result of how large and spacious everything is, the buffet in turn looks rather small. While it might feel small, the items that are there seem to be pretty good. Food is replenished quickly and the variety is mainly composed of the usual fried / stir fried American-Chinese classics. There is pizza, nuggets, and fries for the kiddos and basic palates. People who seek this stuff out will likely love their spread. Extra thumbs up for the nearly perfectly pan fried dumplings. My money is mainly on their sushi selection. On the weekends there is a solid variety of sushi rolls, nigiri, and a mix of sashimi, beautifully laid out. In most buffets, it's always poorly managed but the presentation seems on point. The quality is on par with an AYCE sushi spot, which is expected for a place like this. This is not my usual wheelhouse for food, but E-Star did a great job of managing my expectations. The best part? The weekend buffet price was only $17. The value, attentive service, abundant seating options, and solid food choices will likely have me back again.

Service was fast. We were seated right away. Lots of seating and our table was clean. Buffet area was always stocked and hot. Fried rice should not have cabbage in it IMO lol. Noodles didn't have much seasoning and flavor. The Korean beef ribs were really good. Decent food for the price. We thought it was worth it. We would definitely come back again next time.

The flavors were pretty good at this location, though I only sampled a portion of the items as I was on lunch break. The price is less expensive than others at $12.99 before tax for weekday lunch =$14.06 (before tip). I really liked the broccoli (lightly cooked), rice (dry but cooked), few pieces of sushi I tried and baked dinner bun. They had an array of dishes (salad bar, stir-fry, sushi, baked, fried, steamed). I was surprised that the sushi was pretty decent, even covered with mostly kani and spicy mayo. If the rice is edible and the toppings don't taste too vinegary or mushy, I consider it a win at a buffet. The shrimp tempura in the roll may have been a little too oily, lukewarm and small, but it still tasted pretty good flavor-wise. I felt like I was eating at a party with food that had good flavors, but since I arrived a little late (11:15 AM), everything is just slightly hot. If the food was a little hotter, some would have tasted better. The mei fun and lo mein were okay, but I think I grabbed the unseasoned part of the mei fun as it was all white and tasted like plain rice noodles. The fried fish and calamari were hot and tasty but a little oily. The chicken wings were flavorful but needed to be warmer. The different stir-fries with onions and broccoli looked good but needed to be hot. The egg drop soup had thick egg strands but needed salt or something. The fried rice was pretty good as it was hot and had lots of toppings. The wonton in the wonton soup was fat and heavy. The fried egg roll and fried veggie spring roll were crunchy and hot. The not-mayo-based cold shrimp and squid salads tasted good. I thought the vanilla cake squares and vanilla Swiss roll cake were surprisingly dry. The graham crackers and whip dessert was okay as it it was like eating tiramisu without the espresso. There was the usual icy soft serve station. The kani-cheese bake, clams, and fruit (melons, oranges) were good versions for a buffet. There was Spanish music playing, and it wasn't too loud from the staff or guests. The interior is dark and moody, but it's also nicely lit at the tables and buffet stations by the wall accents and ceiling lights.

Super nice and clean buffet. The food is okay but my dad is obsessed with it. He comes at least one a week. I like some of the sushi but most of it is really just standard. I wish they had more desserts tho none of them look appetizing. They have little robot hosts but i don't think they do much besides that.

I have been wanting to go to an Asian buffet for a while now! This one is fairly new, so I figured it would be one of the nicer ones plus it had good reviews! The buffet definitely didn't disappoint. It's your typical Asian food. The soft serve machine was my favorite part! Very clean and nicely decorated inside.

My friends wanted to eat at a Chinese buffet, but I wanted to eat something healthy for lunch, so we tried this place. I'm always skeptical when I try a buffet place, but I was really impressed by the size of the buffet! Now don't get me wrong, you pay a hefty price for this mega buffet, the weekend price is $18 per person. I was really happy to see so many healthy options. I started off with a plate full of fresh fruit, then moved on to a nice soup and sushi mix. It was also delicious and very fresh. I saw they had two different types of salmon, so I had a few pieces of that to try and stay on the healthy track. The fish was also very fresh and delicious! My friends all got different types of fried Chinese foods and rice that you typically find in any Chinese restaurants and they all seemed pretty satisfied with their food. I definitely would come back for some "healthy " Chinese food!

Wow this place gave me a different perspective of how I thought about Asian Buffets. The Sushi is at par with any All you can eat Sushi joints it was pretty good & presentable. The food was tasty & overall my favorite things were the Korean BBQ steak , the Chicken skewers & the baked Salmon. They also have a robot that takes you to your table which I thought that was interesting.

I love a good buffet. That being said, there are not too many of those in town other than some of the great AYCE sushi places. I get my fix when I'm in Vegas. Within the last year or so, I saw this place keep popping up on trusted Yelper's check ins and reviews. Almost 5 stars for a Chinese buffet is unheard of. I had to check out this anomaly for myself. We came at the beginning of dinner time. It sits on the corner of a large shopping center which means plenty of parking. It is a large place with plenty of seating. Not sure about waits at peak time. We were seated right away. There's also the option of using their robot waiter to seat you. It seemed like a big hit with the families with kiddos. They get your drink order as you sit and then you are free to get your food. Customer service was alright. I found it odd that they did not have some of the normal condiments at the table such as soy sauce, sugar, etc. We had to wait to get service and then receive those items. This place is also very clean and well kept.As far the food goes, I had no real complaints. I started off with a round of sushi. Keep in mind this isn't a sushi buffet. As far as I'm concerned, they do it pretty well here. They have a good variety of sushi rolls, nigiri and sashimi. For hot food, they have your typical Chinese buffet offerings, but everything was tasty and fresh. I can't honestly say I had anything I didn't like and I feel like I got a little taste of most of the items. For desserts, they have the usual suspects like pudding, jello, random pastries and self serve ice cream. Just enough to cleanse the palette a little bit.Overall, this is probably the best Chinese food buffet in town. Typically I have a buffet of this type and I am good for months before the next cravings hit. Here, I was thinking I want to go back soon already. I will definitely be back!

Still riding the high from this buffet, no joke! If you're a fan of AYCE Chinese buffets like me, then RUN, DON'T WALK. I seriously have nothing negative to say -- it was a great experience overall. FOOD SELECTION: Impressive. And not just deep-fried garbage. Lots of different meat/seafood and some veggies too. There was a salad bar as well as a sushi bar. Also a soup bar! FOOD QUALITY: Excellent. Just about everything was really good! I tried quite a few of the options and was impressed. There were maybe just a couple items that were mediocre. Oh and the sushi/sashimi was actually quite good. The fish seemed like pretty good quality (it's always a little scary eating raw fish at buffets). AMBIANCE: Surprisingly nice. Large space with high ceilings. The bathrooms were very nice and clean too. Despite this, it had a very casual feel. Lots of families with kids. We brought our 1-year-old and felt comfortable. They have high chairs, btw (although the straps on them didn't function properly). SERVICE: Excellent! Our waitress (for drinks/check) was really nice. It feels weird tipping at buffets but it was easy since she was so friendly and helpful. PRICE: Surprisingly low. It was about $17 per person on a weekend -- that's very reasonable! PARKING: Plenty as it's in a large plaza. My new favorite buffet in Houston.
