"I wrote this for a class assignment back in 2014 I called it a "Healthy Gem In Downtown Laredo" and I happen to stumble across it today in 2022 and decided to post it as a review. Everything stated was base off of my experience, I hope you find it useful. If you are looking for a great place to grab a bite other than Mcdonald's or any other fast food joint, you have to stop by Caffe Dolce. It's the place to be during your lunch hour or just to grab a bite to go. Luckily for me as I am currently attending Laredo Community College its close by. The overall look from the outside is similar to an older cottage home in New Orleans, around the French quarter area; it definitely does not feel like it's in Laredo. Its on a main street and its surrounded by trees. There's also an outside porch with such beautiful scenery feels like home, if the weather was right it would be a perfect spot to study or even hang out with a few friends outside.Let me start off with my experience at Caffe Dolce , the service was outstanding, restaurant looked very clean. Since it was my first time eating there, I wasn't sure what to try so I asked the cashier and he was so detailed with each selection on the menu I wanted to order everything! Every single item on the menu was healthy. The overall feeling of the discovered gem was really relaxing, as I waited for my food I looked at the art they had on display to be honest the art wasn't really my cup of tea but it was done right, I mean the details in the artwork was astounding who would've thought Laredo had such talent hidden away in downtown. My food came out pretty quick, I was able to smell the herbs used the aroma infused my my area, the presentation was unique I ordered a Panini "MAT" which consisted of Mozzarella, Asparagus and Turkey on a croissant. I felt not only good about my choice but the price was right. Also knowing that it was healthy also made me feel even better about trying Caffe Dolce. I also tried their all-natural cucumber lemonade and let me tell you it was so refreshing and tasty I was able to taste the lemon and the cucumber, and for me that's key in knowing that it is as natural as they say trust me I can tell, Anyhow It was paired up perfectly with the weather and my Panini. The order also came with a side, which was a pasta salad covered with pesto sauce looked delicious I couldn't wait to taste it . Once I took my first bite I knew I was eating something out of this world. Not only was it delicious the food is superb!, it was very satisfying to all my taste buds, words just can't describe all the flavors that my tongue was experiencing, my belly was happy and i was satisfied as i'm writing this as i remember my mouth is getting watery! I honestly felt as if I discovered a gem in Laredo abesides the normal tacos and more tacos it was different than just any restaurant in downtown. As I sat there and enjoyed my juicy Panini I was able to relax and read my Grassroots book, the waiter was also pretty discreet not to interrupt me but he still stopped by to see if I needed anything. I have to tell you if you are in the downtown area you have to stop by caffe Dolce it's a must! Trust me you will not regret the atmosphere is perfect for both young and older adults, I really hope that this business stays around for many years to come. I will definitely be a returning customer."
"Excellent quality ice cream. I would say the best on the island. They bend over backwards to make your order. My chocolate sundae was ordered with a touch of peanut butter added. Done.Go!"

"If you want to pay $8 for a 3/4 full iced coffee then this is your spot. The fact that they short you 1/4 of a cup of coffee because you request light ice is absolutely ridiculous. Then they tell you it's an additional .50 cents if you want it topped off.instead of shorting coffee and then wanting to charge an additional amount to give me what i'm paying for as it's advertised, y'all should consider the fact that filling a cup with so much ice that there is very little coffee even being added is why people request light ice.Another fun fact is that the girl who poured my "Big Tex" had the audacity to say even though the cup is only 3/4 full it still the same amount of coffee!!! She even tried to prove it by pouring it into a medium cup (which made no sense) and resulted in the MEDIUM CUP only being 3/4 full as well!Color me surprised. The pic below is a large "iced big tex". which i payed $7 and some change for. The profit margin selling coffee is very pretty and these guys take full advantage of serving you ice over coffee any day. It's unfortunate but the truth."
"Stopped by this adorable coffee house on my way through rural south Texas. I didn't go inside but from what I could see this is a new establishment and it's adorable. Modern and cute. There is not much in this town so having a little spot like this can really add to the community. The decor I could see was cute and stylish. Service was fast but friendly and not unnecessarily rushed. They knew exactly what to do when I asked for "more sweet than coffee taste". I highly recommend giving this locally owned establishment your business."
"Found this business searching Yelp for smoothies in my area. Ordered a mixed berry smoothie and got a chocolate chip cookie. Both were fantastic. This place is a hidden gem and has deserves all the support we can give."
"I'll start with saying that I do love On The Grind. They have so many different flavors and I've never had a bad drink from there. I love the "surprise me" feature as well because I don't always know what I want. I go at LEAST once a week, sometimes more. Get the blackberry starburst red Bull, it's amazing! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because of the service. It's kind of inconsistent. Sometimes I go and the people working are literally the most fun, kind, and helpful people ever. Sometimes I go and I feel as though the people working can't be bothered. I cracked a joke with the woman taking my order today and there was literally no reaction whatsoever. In fact, she almost seemed annoyed by me trying to be friendly. She felt very fake and gave me mean girl vibes. I didn't really worry about it the first couple of times I had interactions like that but it's happened enough to where I can confidently say that good customer support is not consistent."
"Hold on to your hats people, Brown has some serious competition for my caffeine dollars! If you had told me that I was going to get real old fashioned hand pulled espresso on the square in San Marcos, I would have been intrigued, but still mildly skeptical. But this place is the real deal! The hand pump truly brings out the skills of the barista who now works with the complexity of coaxing the best flavor out of the coffee without acridity, and these guys have a fabulous one. This espresso had the creamy mouthfeel that is rarely found in coffee shops these days (and yes the kind of bean and roast matters, but still). The espresso was a sheer delightful expression of the coffee blend roasted till its deepest darkest character was revealed. A gorgeous crema topped a wonderfully toasty decoction with aromas of bitter almonds that faded into a floral finish. The artfully pulled espresso is complemented by very well made Cubano's and flat whites (that rival the ones I had in Australia).I had thought about not writing about this place in case ..they become too popular and my wait times increase, but they are too good to not be on your radar, especially if you are a coffee lover."
"We went to Gruene for a few days to get out of Houston. Being out of town made me want to indulge in some coffee house coffee. I looked up coffee and saw that Gruene Coffee Haus was pretty close to where we were staying. It's located in a tucked away super small strip center. When you walk up they have a cute outside area with a photo wall. The environment was very welcoming. The coffee shop it's self is pretty small, but it was decorated nicely. I ordered a caramel macchiato. It was very good. The coffee that they used was very tasty. It was much better than the big coffee shop that we all know the name of.When I go back to Gruene, they will be a must visit stop while I'm there."
"Consistently delicious lunches! This cafe has yummy daily hot specials similar to the favorite casseroles for sale at the Pecan House down the block. All of their grilled panini-style sandwiches are super, but the Dewitt is my favorite! Their side salads are incredible- like the broccoli, chicken, potato, or tuna. Finally, add a homemade Cowboy cookie or lemon bar to finish! Great service and always a good choice!! Thank you!!"
"This place is so good it has the best hot chocolate I have ever tastedThe service wad awsome super nice workers Super nice customers and in a super nice location"
"I checked this new place on Del Mar female cashier was not friendly nor welcoming the iced latte was good and place was nice, owner just needs to work on cashier's manners."
"If you haven't stopped by yet, you're missing out! My husband and I were in town for business and we needed a coffee, we were welcomed by all smiles when we walked in. Cute decor' and a great display of what they offer to their customers. If we hadn't eaten we would have for sure grabbed a pastry, they looked amazing. We ordered a Caramel Latte and it was SO good! They are so willing to make whatever you're dreaming up so PLEASE stop on by while in Seguin and give them a try! You won't be disappointed.Keep up the great job and we will for sure be back to try more!! Cheers"

Alright, honest review time. Don't come here if you're a pansy coffee drinker. This place is for people on the grind. I'd leave your laptop at home. There's always a cheerful, happy to greet you host standing outside that's already about 3 shots of espresso deep, ready to take your order rain or shine. Grab yourself a six shooter, big Tex, or a Mexican mocha and you'll be able to take on a Texas sized day in no time. If you drive a super duty, 2500, or a duramax you won't feel embarrassed rolling through this coffee drive thru. As a Starbucks connesuer back in the day, they went to shit. Black rifle went to shit. Dutch bros is a joke. Go here if you're a true Texan.

Cute coffee shop in Stockdale Texas! We went to the watermelon festival over the weekend so of course I had to find a coffee shop. It's a drive thru only but has a good size patio for outdoor sitting. You'll drive up one end to order and around to the other side for pick up. The worker was so sweet and kind. She recommended a drink (forgot what it was ) but it was so good! Got it iced. It was the right amount of sweet how I like it. They also have other drinks aside from coffee and a few eats and treats

Very cute coffee shop and the staff was very kind! I ordered the Apple Caramel Oatmilk Macchiato, which is a part of their seasonal Fall menu and WOW this drink tastes like Fall! Definitely a 10/10 and for the size it was less than $6 which is a steal honestly. Highly recommend checking out this place!

My wife and I went to the Hunter Road location near Gruene. We went today a little before 7PM. The girl working there was too busy flirting with the boy in the car ahead of us so we waited a long time. Finally the male worker came out of the stand to take our order. He boy finally left. The girl did nothing and the male worker hussled. The drinks were fine but there wither needs to be better monitoring or this girl just needs to be fired. We will not return to this location.

I was expecting more from Redbud Roasters. I read on their website that breakfast tacos, bagels, and other food items were available. I found out that they stopped serving food during the pandemic. Now I know, I won't show up hungry and expecting to eat next visit. The service and coffee were great. The selection of beans was impressive. Did I mention that there's a record store in the same space and great music being played while you're enjoying your coffee? I will definitely be back!

A very lovely place to take a break on a warm day of shopping. Lots of beverage choices- I had an iced vanilla latte and my friend had a decaf. Clean restrooms. The service staff were very nice and not flustered by special orders. They had some great looking baked goods and a cold case for bottled and canned beverages. Overall a great stop.

"My FAVORITE coffee shop in town. Hands down. So yummy. I've had a bunch of their flavors and I've never been disappointed. My toddler also likes their kid-friendly drinks. Recently found out they sell their coffee whole bean or ground. So I will be stocking up on that!"
"Where to begin?? OTG is our go to coffee spot!! Always a friendly face greets us and my beverage choice is always perfect! And let me tell you, even if the line looks long the service is amazing so drive right on up and get in that line! I promise you won't be disappointed!! Well, now I want some OTG!! Gotta go!!!"

"Drove through this cute little coffee shop on the way back to Bastrop from a wedding in George West. Needless to say there aren't many options on that drive. Was pleasantly surprised with the drinks. I got a vanilla latte and the hubs got a white chocolate mocha. Service was fast and friendly. I did get a breakfast sandwich which wasn't the best (bread was a bit soggy)- I would stop by again for the drinks but most likely skip the food."
"These mini donuts definitely didn't disappoint!! I picked the S'mores option with powdered sugar instead of whipped cream and they were absolutely delicious!! I'm so glad I stopped by for breakfast. You should definitely check it out!! Follow their Facebook page to find out where they will be parked at. They move around."
"Avid coffee drinker turned business owner, Mauricio is a good friend of mine, knew him when he was in the Marine Corp. I believe his attention to detail and his passion for doing it "right" will be reflected in the drinks that he makes, and most important of all, his loyalty and faithfulness to his customers will wow you, as it did me when I met him many moons ago."
"Since I found this quaint coffee shop next to the 1/2 price bookstore, I have visited frequently to indulge in delicious freshly made cakes, cheesecake, sandwiches and the coffee. The owner is such a nice lady, who grinds her own coffee beans, which she also sells. She was very proud of her roasting and combining different coffee beans to make unique blends. A great place to visit and try new coffee from around the world."
"Great selection of cheesecake slices and jars! The service was wonderful! The ambiance was posh and space-like! So very peaceful with WiFi and comfy egg chairs too!!"
"On The Grind is my girls favorite place. We get the strawberry or vanilla milkshakes. The service is always welcoming and pleasant."
"Service was quick, however I went during the early morning hours. The donuts were so good and the small coffee was way bigger than I expected."
"We've had just about every baked good they make, and every one was world-class delicious. The crusts are flaky yet firm. The contents/fillings have just the right balance of flavor and texture: Not too sweet and not too thin. The building is mostly kitchen, so it's a tiny lobby you enter to place your order. Then you can eat your treats either on the wrap-around porch or on chairs & tables laid out under the surrounding trees. Or just take them home. Plenty of adjacent parking. If you're anywhere near Kafekali, check it out for yourself. We love it!!"
"OMG!!! When you want to have a home away from home type snack, lunch or something in between, this is the place for you!!!Service is impeccable, food is amazing and the drink options are all the options you want and need! Don't eat up all the deserts or soups because I'll definitely be coming back!!Rather you are visiting or live close by this place is a MUST TRY!! Tell Pam HI for me!!"
"Love the coffee here. They roast their own coffee beans too! Love the vibe here, very quiet so can you can get work done here. And as I said before, coffee is amazing here! I'm soooo happy there's a place like this here in Victoria. Last time I was there, I saw next door's sign saying coffee roaster opening or something. I wonder if its them expanding..."
"I absolutely love this cafe. Everything on the menu is phenomenal. They have the best sandwiches, salads, soup, and coffee in town. The owners are very pleasant and are always around to greet you. They also allow you to sit in and use your laptop for business while enjoying an espresso or two."
"This café is absolutely delightful! The presentation is charming, and every bite feels like it was crafted in the clouds. The textures--from the pasta salad to the peanut butter chocolate chip muffin--were amazing. I also appreciate that they offer vegetarian options even though I'm pescatarian - some times I do want cheese and veggies! I love their "life's short, eat the cookies" sign. I AGREE.The atmosphere is adorable, and I'd happily return. Parking is a bit limited, but street parking should work fine. It's such a sweet spot, perfect for anyone visiting Corpus Christi. Definitely stop by and support local businesses!"
"I love every On the Grind location, they always have such pleasantly and happy staff. They work hard and even when it's busy, they smile and are very patient. Lines may be long but I can still get through pretty quickly with my delicious drink. I love there's a stamp card for per drink and not just per visit. Love how they are always blasting their music while making my drink, I think it adds something good to the drink lol. It's just a bunch of young people having fun and trying to make some muunaaayyy!! My favorite drink is a medium blended ripper with oatmilk and sugar free everything for $6."
"Was looking for a late dinner and the only places were fast food joints or here! We decided to try it and it was so good! We got tacos, hot dogs, birria etc! A good bang for your buck and the service was so good. The guy at the window explained their best sellers and made sure we knew exactly what we were gonna get!"
"My husband is the coffee drinker and he LOVED the latte he got here. Staff was knowledgeable, friendly and knew how to make a coffee. Another local "specialty" coffee shop was all froth. He purchased a bag of Big Red Truck (local blend) to take home with us. Enjoy! We only came in the morning for coffee, but the BBQ already was smelling fantastic. We'll try it another time."
"Great coffee and amazing service. Family owned and a relaxing atmosphere. Highly recommend the Vietnamese coffee"
"My first meal of 2024 was from this McDonald's and frankly it wasn't too bad. I haven't had McDonald's in years because I am not a huge fan of fast food, so I don't really have a point of reference between good or bad McDonald's. However, it was new year's day and everything was closed except Whataburger and McDonald's. The line at the other fast food place was absolutely insane and it was not moving, so we decided to give this one a chance. We were the first ones in line and were able to get our food in just 5 minutes. They even gave us a little cup with whipped cream for my dog which I thought it was pretty nice of them. Overall the food was decent...not award winning, but it hit the spot. I would definitely come back to this McDonald's for a quick bite after visiting Rockport beach."
"Excellent fresh coffee every time, my breakfast sandwiches were hot and delicious. The people that work here are consistent. clean environment. Of course, we all love, love, love the donuts. Maple and Boston cream are my favorite."
"A group of friends & I had showed up right after they'd closed for their morning hours! They'd just began their new hours of business... The manager, Maggie, was more than happy to open the doors & serve us with a warm smile! The coffee was delicious & they had fresh blueberry scones & chocolate cake! I had a blueberry scone definitely enjoyed it!! My drink of choice was an iced French vanilla latte with oat milk & I was extremely happy with it! Unfortunately I didn't think to get a picture! But will for sure be returning in the future!"
"I was in town working and teacher at one of the schools referred me to this place for lunch. Great sandwich shop! Salads, coffee, teas and desserts. I had the chicken salad sandwich at it was perfect. You can request different mixins for the chicken salad to make it just how you like. This is a great gem hidden in downtown El Campo!"
