Offset BBQ

Chicago native, but lived in Texas for a few years so I got to learn real bbq and the subtle - but very real - bbq nuances. This spot is top notch for food and service and definitely one of the better bbq joints in Chicago. Aside from the fact that the owner is a Pittsburgh Steelers fan (I won't hold that against him), every single meat option I had was excellent. Myself and a friend did the meat platter (pork, pulled chicken, sausage, brisket, corn bread, slaw), along with a 1/2 chicken and quarter slab of ribs. Not one meat morsel was even close to average; it was all flavorful, juicy, smokey, seasoned to perfection and the type of bite you just want to go slow with and let it live its best life in your mouth. The accompanying sauces were all fabulous as well. The show stopper for me was the 1/2 chicken. It had little pockets of juice under the well seasoned and crisped skin that exploded with each bite. We also had old-fashioned cocktails, espresso martinis and a "leaded strawberry lemonade" (lemonade/vodka mix). The strawberry lemonade mix is something special. It was all topped off with a banana ice cream/brownie/whip cream dessert. I can't even start to try and express that symphony of sweet deliciousness; you just need to get one and try it for yourself. Comes in its own little fire hot skillet. Incredibly good.Wonderful ambiance, wonderful smokey wood scent the second you walk in, great hostess, super cool owner, and still somewhat of a hidden gem - so if you go for lunch you will get some good seating, great service, and an incredible meal. Worth every single penny and the kind of food and service that makes you want to tip very well. Thank you. I will be back. ~ Lu.

I had Offset catered to the Loop for a meeting last month and the food blew my guests away. They loved everything ordered which were:St. Louis Style RibsBeef BrisketCornbreadOffset WingsSpinach SaladEloteHuli Huli Green BeansSeasoned Waffle FriesBlueberry Hand Pies with ice creamVery Cheesy CauliflowerAll of the meats were so flavorful, tender and juicy with the right amount of smoke.Cornbread has whole kernals of corn in it, so that may be an issue for those with certain texture preferences, but I loved the buttery and diversity of corn flavors and texture of the bread.I wish the Elote was not a whole corn because it was a bit messy for eating in a professional environment. I thought it would spoonable corn kernals like I've had at other places. So maybe pictures with descriptions on the ordering website would be helpful. The sides were also great and those handpies with vanilla ice cream are to die for. Ordering online was super easy. Make sure you note and call to request plates and utensils. I thought I clicked to select it, but I didn't get any. I must visit the establishment one day to get 'em extra fresh and hot next time.

We love, love, love this place and are regulars. The food is really great and we always order the bbq shrimp and the bim bim bap because they are soooooo good. What really brings us back though is the wait staff. It's hard for us to take our kids many places because they are restless, but we always feel welcome here. They go out of their way to make us feel that way. Maria, one of the waitresses on staff since they opened, always remembers my now 4yo and spends time having fun with him. Everyone here is so accommodating and wonderful.They also have a great espresso martini!

This is probably my favorite bbq spot in Chicago. Service was great and we were seated immediately. I really enjoyed the waffle fry nachos, they did not come to play! Their meat was delicious and the sauces, especially the Hawaiian one, was great.

Doug really helped hook it up with the catering. My work team was gathering together in the office for lunch and I figured this would be perfect for a summertime meal. Yes it's a bit heavy but oh so good. We got a salad ribs, brisket, chicken, Cheesy cauliflower, Corn, And green beans. everything was so delicious and flavorful. The sauces were amazing. I would totally order from here again.

Back again for the best BBQ in Chicago. Fried Ribs, Wings, and Huli Huli beans you can't go wrong. Thanks Doug and Jenny for the great service! Nice night for the patio.

My job ordered this for delivery and I unfortunately didn't get to get the full experience due to us having meetings that didn't allow us to eat until 1 hour after arrival. That is not the restaurants fault at all but I still wanted to give them a review. My coworker has raved about them so it's unfortunate I didn't get to experience it fresh. The burgers condiments were tasty and so sorry for the crappy picture but by the time I got to it, it wasn't too pretty. I did get a side of elote which was yummy! I did not expect the chipotle twist but I got used to it and devoured it hahaI'll be definitely ordering again to give it an honest taste

Wasn't too busy on a Friday evening. Food came quick and was very good. Service was great as well, would definitely return.

Everything runs smoothly and at a high level. Service drinks, food friendliness all 4-5 stars. We had the chicken fried ribs. Unbelievable. Soooo tender smoky with the thin crispy coating. The margarita was perfect. We also had the BBBLT and a brisket Sammie the meat moist. I loved the woven bacon and toasted buttered bread. The only miss was the coleslaw IMHO, needed more flavor and a little less crunch. We have to return to try other menu items OMG. And the no metered street parking. Amazing
