I visited City Winery for the first time a few weeks ago. I went with a friend of mine to see the comedian Aida Rodriguez. My friend goes to City Winery all the time because his dad has a membership to Vinofile. He truly enjoys the ambiance and overall experience. We went for happy hour prior to the show and sat at the bar. The bartender was very cool. I think she said her name was Becky. I do recall that she was from Australia, so we talked a little about that. My friend had a glass of wine, and I had the Sunny Day in Cancun cocktail. We both enjoyed our drinks. My friend wanted to try the pizza, so he ordered the one with honey, pepperoni, and Italian sausage. The pizza seemed barely above pizza you'd get at a ballgame. It was whisper thin and greasy. I also didn't like the honey drizzled on top. Certain things just don't mix, and honey on pizza is one of them. My friend didn't really care for the pizza either, but he was hungry, so he ended up eating the whole thing. Overall, I found the menu undesirable, so I'd never return to eat again. In fact, I have tickets for a future show, and I plan on eating at a restaurant nearby before the event. We sat at table 430 (I think), which had a nice view. The show wasn't sold out, so there were tons of empty seats. The sound was great, and the restroom was easily accessible. Our waitress was attentive and pleasant, too. She reeked of cigarette smoke, though, which was a turnoff. Overall, our experience there was pleasant, and we'd return.

Me and a good friend came here for happy hour and they also happened to be on the inkind app. apparently happy hour runs from 4-7pm mon-fri I believe. all the house wines by the glass are 1/2 off.. and pizzas are 1/2 off too.we got a mushroom pizza which i thought was more like a flat bread but it was pretty good with the ricotta cheese. the crust was unfortunately on the chewy side.I knocked off 2 stars because the service was very very very slow. Upon getting our food i wasnt really able to order a final drink before happy hour ended (I did let the frontend staff know but there was no communication between her and our waitress, so I had some issues getting my final drink...My friend was in a rush and I really wanted to enjoy the patio for a bit before the night ended...There was a rnb concert playing in the concert hall which i was interested in checking out, but the computer was down so no luck for me.

Came to see Lalah Hathaway and had an AMAZING time. We were greeted with a free wine sample and ease of event entry. I would say that seating is very tight and had to get comfortable. The performance was Top-Notch. I would definitely look for more concers at this venue, for it's wonderful. We decided to try some food and drinks. If you're getting wine, I would recommend buying the bottle, for it would be cheaper than buying individual glasses.

City Winery is perfect for a girls wine night, as I did with my friend, for dinner, or even for hosting a private event. The bartender was helpful when I shared wine preferences and encouraged us to try wine flights so we could get a little of everything. My friend got a white wine flight and she enjoyed the flight as is. I opted for the red wine flight and subbed in a Zinfandel and it was worth it! It was a quiet week night, so it wasn't very busy, but the space was large and very beautiful! I recommend visiting for wine flights. I am personally looking forward to going back for a whole meal as their menu looked delicious as well!

Came here to see Syleena Johnson perform and what a treat. Surprised and happy to see they had valet and accepted cards!! Yay! City Winery is a whole vibe. Very classy and modern feel. Large room that seated about 300 people in an intimate setting. I got lucky enough to sit directly in front of the stage. I didn't get to eat becz my party came right when the show started but I will for sure be back here to try the food. Front of the house and servers were all nice and attentive. Looking forward to the next event here.

On a recent visit to Chicago my sister and I stopped by on our walk to enjoy a bottle of wine. We enjoyed a bottle of their sparkling rose'. Sitting along the river walk and enjoying the view was perfect. The staff was friendly and helpful at suggesting what they thought was a great choice. We really enjoyed every minute of being there. I highly recommend stopping in and checking them out!

Visited this restaurant on a Saturday evening and was impressed with its fantastic location and great ambience. They have a great collection of wines. We had Wonderous Whites and Unique Reds flights - each flight had a few good options. We ordered the Truffle Fries which were pretty delicious. Also ordered Fun-Guy Flatbread - which was okay. While the food arrived promptly, there was a considerable wait for our wine flights. Furthermore, the server attempted to clear our dishes despite us still enjoying our meal. It was pretty disappointing on the service front, but the overall atmosphere and wine selection make it a decent choice.

Wow. It's been a long time since we went to City Winery and have they steeped up their game. We bought tickets to an early show to see The Squirrel Nut Zippers. The performance was outrageous. But the food and the service are far better than our earlier experience. When we entered we had a tasting of their Petit Syrah. We were seated next to the stage. Our seats (which we chose) had an obstructed view of the stage. Hiring the performance we mainly saw the back of their pianist. The food was great. We shared an American Waygu Hanger Steak - cooked perfectly, with fingerling potatoes in a wonderful sauce. The Waygu was seared perfectly. I can't even describe the potato's. We also ordered the chickpeas and spinach. Another great choice - delicious with some spiciness to it.The acoustics were great. Even with the location of our seats, it sounded like we were in the front center. Next time, we'll spend a bit more for better seats so we could see as well as enjoy the show.

I really wanted to love this space, but the amount of food you get for the price is not worth it in my opinion. Service: great! The hostess was super nice and welcoming. Our waitress made sure she checked on us periodically and double checked on last minute orders for happy hour. I don't love when restaurants don't mention their happy hour even if it's listed on their website because it always make me feel like they're hiding something, so I didn't particularly love that I had to ask about happy hour specifically. Ambiance: the whole space is super cute and the barrels everywhere really add to the vibe Food/Wine: - I would come back for the wine flights or $7 happy hour wine pours. The Syrah was not my favorite. The rose was ok. The sparkling cava was very good - truffle fries 10/10 - Burrata was delicious but I wish we had more bread. I also don't think it's worth the price point - the mushroom flatbread was actually good - the cauliflower was good but also not worth the price point it was listed for Overall, I think I'll stick to grabbing a glass of wine near the city winery on the riverwalk.

I really love this venue. Dinner and a show! Quite intimate and low key. Ticketed seating.Although you're sitting with other people at your table, it works. Feels spacious without the usual press of audience, but you're seated at a table. The food is tasty, though portion sizes are more like appetizers. However most of the dishes I've had are very filling. The loaded baked potato hits me like a brick, it's all I need! Very tasty, well seasoned and delectably tasty. And very dense. The Kung pao cauliflower is really flavorful and a huge portion. 2 or 3 people could eat this and be satisfied. There is some seasoning on it that sort of lingers, though, so if you have a sensitive palate or stomach you may want to pass on it.The duck tacos sounded good but were relatively underwhelming. The wagyu sliders are delicious and between the 3 of them it feels like more than a burger would be.The sound quality here is amazing. Very intimate and engaging. I love it. The only issue I have is that the space is not very encouraging of standing and dancing, despite the music being very moving and inspirational.Ticket price is considerable. It's definitely not what I would consider "affordable" but for the right artist, it's worth the visit. I've come twice and intend to come again, especially for a show like Squirrel Nut Zippers. Love them! Up close and personal experience. The rest of the place is really stunning even if you're just here to eat. But I didn't spent enough time to appreciate it outside of the show. Both times I've been here the show starts promptly at the ticketed time! And is run very tightly. The hour and a half went by swiftly. No openers, headliners only. It's encouraged to a arrive early to order drinks and food, but the staff is pretty good about not being intrusive or interrupting. Checks come promptly a few songs before the end of the show. Very tight ship!
