Bill M. "My bud and I ate lunch at Ghareeb Nawaz on Devon today. This is a no-frills establishment with an extensive menu posted on the wall, so it just may take a minute or two to identify what you'd like to order. The sign touted their "winter special" - chicken biryani for $5.99. Of course, I could not pass up such an eye-popping deal. The photos of the dishes just do not depict how sizeable the portions are in reality. I thought my platter of biryani was the bargain of the century (at least by 2023 standards) as the basmati rice was literally overflowing from the plate and there were three substantial chicken pieces embedded in the dish. Even as I added two samosas (the potato was better than the beef samosa), I spent less than nine dollars and had enough rice for another meal. My bud ordered an enormous amount of food, including chicken korma with a somewhat spicy curry sauce and a pile of rice, and a frisbee-sized disk of naan. His he-man appetite meant that he somehow wound up with no leftovers. We were both satisfied with the flavors and the value of our food. I ate my meal with a plastic spoon - I did not see any forks or knives anywhere. Remember - no-frills!"

Cynthia N. "We usually get the chicken tikka masala, chicken 65, garlic naan, and a wild card. The chicken tikka masala is verrrrry good, creamy, and nice robust flavor. It might be my favorite chicken tikka masala in the city! The chicken 65 is inconsistent. The first time we had it, it blew our minds and it's what actually hooked us! Since then, we've ordered it every time hoping to have the same experience, but are often disappointed. Sometimes it's too dry, sometimes it's too salty. It has never been as good as the first time. The wild card dish we had on our most recent visit was the chicken momo. I wouldn't get it again. The filling wasn't very good and the dough was thick and dry. I was between 3 and 4 stars because aside from the chicken tikka masala, nothing else is consistently good. But Cumin is still one of our go-to places for Indian food, and I'd come again despite the limitations. Just beware, the food is pricey for the amount of food and the entrees do not come with rice. We've never dined in, only gotten carry out."

Logan square location is massive and can house you and your family or friends for a good time. I placed an order rather quickly and all the dishes arrived within 15-30 minutes. Thankfully we order multiple dishes to get a taste of their menu. Each dish was a nice size portion that matches the price and that wows me. The fries were very well seasoned and the sauce to pair was tasty. The wings were so tender the meat fell off the bone. The sauce seasoning and flavor was a triple knockout and worth the taste. Definitely don't miss out on that. The creamy chicken masala was indeed creamy and incredibly Generous with the meat provided. The pot pie was alright and filling. What elevated the dish were the sauces on the sauce. I believe one was Apple base and the other was another fruit base. Super delicious on their own! Jacob J. "Bonafide "chaat" house. Casual and maintained like a cafe. Not a regular full service restaurant. So if you are planning to meet many friends, I wouldn't put their staff through that hassle. For those wanting to expand their knowledge of what Indian foods can offer. Guy's it's not always about butter chicken! Spice levels are comfortable and kids alike will enjoy. The food is Indian vegetarian. Snacks, fried items, limited desserts and some Indian entree staples. Dosas, idlis, paratha, puffed rice, roti, puri (types of Indian breads) and more. Those are often served alongside chutneys, dips, veg curries and even more. Side note: Most Indians will not order dosas and puris in carry out or delivery. These are breads that are made to eat when fresh. It's at its best when it hits the plate soon after frying. I guess you could try to microwave it but some finesse is needed to get the breads back to a pliable texture. Uru Swati is a household name on Devon that's been in existence for many years. They've experienced some highs and many lows. Somehow though, they keep comin' back around in popularity. A change in staff or getting back to basics can do that. Presently they are on a high in the food preparation side of the business. Best to get it while it's still good."

There was indoor and outdoor seating and all the tables that came in after us chose to eat outside. Parking in this area was SO easy. The menu is very extensive - you could spend a lot of time deciding. We ordered:- Butter Chicken - Tandoori chicken simmered in tomato sauce, butter and spices, $12.95. This was so good, there were little pieces of chicken and the sauce was almost sweet. I've never had a butter chicken like this before and it was perfect to dip in naan. I didn't want to waste a drop of it!- Gobhi Gulastan - Cauliflower and potatoes cooked with herbs and ginger, 10.95-Shrimp Biriyani - Traditional Indian rice dish made with vegetables, herbs and your choice of meat. We had someone eating with us that doesn't like a lot of spice, and they made this on the lowest spicy end as possible. I love spicy, and it was spicy!-Onion Kulcha - Flour bread stuffed with onions, $2.95. This was my favorite of the breads. Seems to be one of the few places in Palatine for Indian food though. Maybe it's not exactly clean inside. There's quite a few vegetarian items, which is a good thing but there's high prices and tiny ass portions. After finding out there was an Indian place as we were going through here, we came in. It looks pretty basic, almost like a fast food restaurant. That could have been a sign. Has a pretty laid back atmosphere, where most of the guys working here were watching some cricket game. There's not a whole lot of room inside, but there's a few tables. It has a lunch special which saves a few bucks. It's about $8 for a small amount but it wasn't quiet among us. Only on weekdays. It comes with rice and a salad. There's chicken and lamb choices for meat, and there's lots of vegetarian choices too. Got it with the Baigan Bhartha. This is eggplant, and it had pretty good spice. Could have been cooked more. The plate wasn't exactly full and it felt like kind of a ripoff. Has some pretty okay choices if you don't have too high of expectations. It's not a clean place inside, which is something that obviously needs to be taken care of. There's lots of options for both meat eaters as well as vegans and vegetarians."

The owner and server there were very friendly from when we walked into the restaurant to the end when we were leaving. We ordered chicken masala, butter chicken and a lb bryani with 2 orders of garlic naan. The food did take some time to make, but when the food came out, we couldn't stop eating. The food was very fresh and delicious. At first I was hesitant to eat the garlic naan because it had cilantro in it and I do not like cilantro, but because of the spices in the sauce, I didn't taste any of the cilantro. The sauce was so strong it overpowered the taste of the cilantro. I would have to say that the chicken masala was the best dish out if the 3 we ordered. We also ordered a mango lassi and I wish it was in a bigger cup than in a tall wine glass. The proportion was just right. 3 of us killed all three dishes and had nothing left over. The spicy level was just ok to me. It could've been spicier, but my boyfriend and friend thought it was the perfect amount of spice. Just depends on everyone's spicy level everyone is different. Typically each container is plastic wrapped, which would normally bug me since it's wasteful, but it's a huge help with the saucy dishes. I noticed they even go to the trouble to package cold items (I.e. raita- yogurt sauce) separately from hot.The fooooood; oh my goodness! Their Lamb Biryani is killer- it's the main reason I've continued to order from them. They season it with saffron, whole cloves, cinnamon bark and cardamom pods, which are kinda annoying to pick out buuut it's WORTH IT for the flavor! The lamb is insanely delicious; I can tell they slow cook it as it's always perfectly tender/succulent. I saw some other reviewers mention lamb, so it must be one of their fortes. The only thing I don't recommend is the Tandoori chicken. I found it was dry and didn't travel very well. But highly recco the Vegetable Samosa (so huge and crunchy), Onion Kulcha (naan), Chicken Shahi Korma, Palak Paneer, and Vegetable Curry! I appreciate that each dish comes with perfectly cooked rice, which also helps stretch the already-large servings into multiple meals. Prices are high but you're getting a ton of food. "This review has been on the back burner, because I'm still stunned by this place.Stunned in both good and bad ways, and I can't quite make sense of it, but I'll try my worst to infer.First off, the server comes to our table, grabs the drink menu and demands that I order a bottle of wine. It was surreal. I retorted, "we don't drink alcohol!" He relented. Then we order our food (without demands or incident). Whew. Our condiments come in disposable containers. Fine dining? Eh, no.Then the food: mostly good, though my spouse hated their Gobi Manchurian. They said it tasted like spaghetti sauce. But I quite enjoyed the tomato-y spaghetti with cauliflower meatballs, as it were, even if it wasn't typical. The other entree was more typical, but also good. (Sorry, it's been so long that I don't remember what else we got.)Their naan bread assortment was also above average, a nice variety and well made.To conclude, our server gave me a blessing and told me that Mark is a philosopher's name and that's why the gospel of Mark has a different tone than the other books, since it was written from a philosophical perspective. Very interesting. My Catholic childhood didn't teach me that. Also, I never got a blessing from Burger King, Olive Garden or any other restaurant, so I'll take that as a plus. Wait, should I take that as a plus? Well, I will.My inference is that this place used to be better and that maybe almost everyone is depressed here and maybe that we should show some compassion in general.I don't think we'll be coming back, given that we're not really out and about in the village of Schaumburg, but we'll see what happens."

On my most recent visit, I ordered their EGGPLANT CHERRY TOMATO CURRY (cubes of eggplant and cherry tomato cooked in a rich sauce of golden fried onions and tomatoes), NATKHAT BHEER MASALA (chunks of lamb soaked in a mixture of yogurt, garlic, ginger, papaya, and spices, roasted in Tandoor served on top of a creamy tomato and onion sauce), a couple of garlic naans, one tandoori roti, and a side of sliced onions and jalapeños. Rice came with the entrées and did not need to be ordered separately. I placed my order over the phone and went to pick up the food by the time I was informed the order would be ready. Upon arriving for pick-up, I received good service. The restaurant looked clean and inviting. I liked its decor and there was plenty of seating inside and some outside. I had to wait to a few minutes as there were other patrons before me that were being attended. Upon having the food I ordered, I can firmly say that Flambe India's food is bold and flavorful. It was quite to my liking. The eggplant cherry tomato cherry was a unique dish that I had not come across before, and the roasted lamb chunks in a creamy tomato and onion sauce definitely exceeded my expectations as the lamb was cooked properly and it was mixed in well in the marinade it was prepared. The Naan, tandoori roti, and rice were good. I liked my overall experience in trying Flambe India. Their menu has a nice variety of dishes to choose from, and in my two visits, the food has been tasty and of good quality. The only issue I had is their menu's pricing.
