26th Street Sugar Shack

I love the premise of this place. It is a confectionery desert lovers dream. There are many snack option or combination of options available. I was sold after seeing the pics of funnel cakes topped with sweet treats sundae style. This is a small stand with window service only, so I parked on the street and walked up to place my order. The snack was ready in a couple of minutes after paying and I took it back to the car to eat.I was a little underwhelmed. The funnel cake sundae didn't hit as hard as I expected it to. I don't know why, maybe it was just the combination I chose. The funnel cake was topped with oreos, vanilla ice cream, caramel, and whipped cream with a cherry on top. I was happy trying this out, but it wasn't fantastic enough to bring me back again. However, the Sugar Shack is worth visiting once for a creative sugary treat.

The service, the funnel cake is very good. I try to go there every couple months to get the funnel cake with strawberry ice cream very simple but very sweet.

I was not expecting this to be a literal shack, but surely am not going to fault them for that (and the lack of seating - there is none) when it's in the name! General Notes: It was pretty busy for a Tuesday night. There is street parking right in front. You can in fact pay with card. Other reviews make it sound like they're seasonal & close at the end of October, so you'd better go before then!Food: The Banana Split sure was tasty! We got Vanilla, Oreo, and Cookie Dough as our 3 flavors. Included was also whipped cream, maraschino cherries, and 2 toppings. We selected Nutella and Cinnamon Toast Crunch (cereal) which honestly went so well with it. It is the quintessential local soft serve ice cream shop. There are not too many left around the city of Chicago and the sugar shack is a gem. aside from old-school softserve ice cream they have some decadent deep-fried treats like Oreos and other completely unhealthy treats. I've been there at least a dozen times and all the staff has been super friendly.

LOVED THIS PLACE! parking along the side streets, amazing portion sizes, and just great options!! been here a few times and each time just solidifies this place's reputation as a true sugar shack. Their menu is extensive and affordable! They are open all year long which is super nice as someone with an ice cream sweet tooth even in winter. They do prefer cash but take card with an added surcharge. Food comes out super quick but keep in mind there isn't anywhere to eat outside or inside since it is literally a shack. Definitely a togo only place but their food more than makes up for it!

My wife and I went on a Wednesday evening. The line wasn't too long but the three stars are due to the disconnect and inconvenience feel we felt from the cashier and the handoff person at the window. No thank you or have a good day. Ice cream was good and it was at a good price point.

I've passed this place SO many times, on my way home from work, and I always see a bunch of people waiting at the window, and at times even a line. Yesterday, I left work late, and since my commute was going to be more than an hour, I decided to grab a sugary snack. I ordered the funnel cake fingers with Nutella dipping sauce, and I saw they had Cheetos with cheese so I ordered that as well. Both were delicious! I mean, the Cheetos with cheese is what it is, however, the funnel cake fingers were REALLLLLLY good - even without any dipping sauce. I am definitely coming back here again! :)

Look, if I could inhale this whole menu I would? Service is decent enough considering how small it is and how busy they usually are. Forgive my photo of the avalanche bc it was 100 degrees out and I was eating it so it wouldn't melt... but their ice cream/Italian ice combo is undefeated. And both of them are fire by themselves. PLEASE get the pop tart and get extra powdered sugar. Also funnel cake fries are it's a cool lil pop up mom and pops vibe there.

Exactly what I wanted and needed. Their butter pecan was buttery and not super sweet! It was perfect! I will be back to try their funnel cake!

For an early autumn evening on a double date, this was the perfect dessert idea! My husband & I were both torn between churros & ice cream ...So we got both! My friend's husband also wanted churros! Ice cream was the bonus. My friend stood out & had a funnel cake. It was too big for her, so she took the rest home. (sorry, no pics) Churros sundae comes with vanilla ice cream, hot fudge & peanuts ... exactly what we wanted!!!Everything is made to order, so it's fresh!! We can't wait to go back!!!
