First time here and to go for early dinner on a Sunday Pluses:1) easy to find it's 290 and 34th st2) ample parking plus outdoor seating available 3) fried shrimp was the best thing we had today! Batter is so crunchy and the size is large.4) fried whole flounder was large and crunchy and nice texture 5) seafood gumbo was mild flavor not salty and a great amount of small shrimps definitely could taste the okra 6) broiled crab fingers good amount 7) good cole slaw 8) fried oysters were good Areas to improve:1) fried calamari were small and bland 2) fries were soggyOverall, good first to go experience and we would come back for the fried shrimp! We spent $111 pre tip for two so on the pricey side today, but seafood always is!

Captain Benny's is a casual restaurant. It's good for groups, couples, and families with kids. They have lots of free parking. This location had inside and outside seating. It's not a large space, but it's nice. Our waitress was very nice, patient, and knowledgeable about the menu. For the table we ordered the Jalapeño Boudin Balls. Even though it says jalapeño they weren't spicy. They only had a little kick. For my meal, I got the Captain's Platter. It came with stuffed crab, fried shrimp, catfish, scallops, served with coleslaw, hush puppies, garlic toast, and French fries. It was pretty good. It didn't have any special flavors that stood out or anything, but it was still good. It's a lot of food so if you order it make sure you are hungry. Again, it's a nice restaurant and would go again.

The food was good. But service was very slow and did not come to much to ask us if we needed anything. The food came to us slowly. Ambiance is ok. We had to pay up at the counter but we had to ask were we pay at this was our first time here.

The food took forever to come out The service wasn't pleasing! The crawfish fingers were small and dried up and only came with like 10 pieces the baked oysters were also dried up and soo small and burnt!! The $31 flounder was not even good and it was my last hope no seasoning! The manager was rude didn't even suggest anything besides saying it's like that that's how it's served. The only good thing was our waiter came and apologized and offer a piece of cheese cake, I appreciate him for trying to make us feel better.. Never again coming to this place.. Go to captain toms instead wayyyyy better

Ok. So. Hear me out. This is not a luxury joint. This is. It elegant in the slightest. But if you're looking for a low glitz no fuss sort of joint for a an old fashioned seafood fry or crab fingers drenched in butter and cheap beer? This is a spot. The service is no frills, too. Your server may or may not be terribly adept at communicating in English and they may or may not check on you. But you'll get straight forward seafood served in a predictable way, a good portion and fresh, quality shellfish. So there's that.

I came for lunch on Valentines Day with my husband and the service was amazing. We've been coming to this location for a long time but Gracie was the best server we've had. She offered us the special which we split - it was 2 stuffed shrimp, 6 fried shrimp with fries and 6 grilled shrimp with rice. The food was hot and fresh, the shrimp were big and seasoned perfectly, the fries were perfectly cooked and the tartar sauce tasted fresh. Gracie checked on us on a timely manner and was very friendly.

I expected more from this place but everything I ordered was bland and under seasoned. Fried crab fingers don't taste like anything. The shrimp po'boy is as bland as you can get. The gumbo just tasted like spice and lacked depth and body that is found in gumbo that people take pride in cooking. It also had more green onion than anyone other component. The only good thing we had were the hush puppies. I left here feeling unsatisfied and heavy.

Bad service with bartender guy took him forever to make me a michelada beer and bring me napkins and lime he got bother because I told him they didn't bring my michelada he made me a hot michelada 1st one was better also they left the poop on the butterfly shrimp and garlic bread tasted just like cheese DONT come here if your trying to have a good service and good food don't recommend location . It was better 9 years ago now it's trash

Absolutely love the food here, the Gumbo is AMAZING !!! I usually get the Combo basket and a cup if gumbo. The staff is so nice, especially Gracie. If you're in the area stop by and try them out !
