Steff D. "Looking for a great place for chippies and sippies (eg: french fries and cocktails that you enjoy midafternoon as a little treat/pick-me-up)? Can't recommend the Bostonia Public House more! We visited on a Friday around 3ish, and - while it was busier than we were expecting already! - we were able to sit at the bar. Very rarely do I say this, but those stools were SO COMFORTABLE. They were wider and deeper than the usual bar seating, I so appreciated the hooks discreetly hidden below for my stuff, and the overall decor of dark wood just felt so old New England pub to me (the enormous windows allow a ton of natural light in though, so it never feels oppressive [if that makes sense]).The staff? So attentive and so refreshingly normal (not at all artificially friendly; when our first bartender's shift was up, she asked if we would be cool closing our tab early [we get it, you want that tip!] we did, and our next round of drinks from her seemed... much more generous, let's say).DRINKS: I had the Fountain of Youth (vodka, elderflower liqueur, lime, lemon, mint, agave) which was a balanced, thirst quenching drink for a warm day, my partner had the Bostonia Barrel (an old fashioned; it was okay) and also a pour of Talisker 10. FOOD: We only saw duckfat sweet potato waffle fries or rosemary parmesan shoestring fries available on the menu. We told our bartender we were vegan, and could they just do normal fries... with the chipotle ketchup we saw came with the waffle fries? She was like, "Absolutely!" And, very soon after that, a delicious bowl of salt and pepper fries arrived with our sauce. Golden on the outside, mashed potato-y on the inside, they were everything you want in a good fry. And that ketchup? A little sweet and a little smoky heat; and, now, I can never boring ketchup again. We were allowed to linger for as long as we wanted, the new bartender constantly filling up our waters and giving us space to finish our second round drinks. Later on in the day when we couldn't settle on another place to have drinks, we were tempted to just come back here. And honestly? We should have!"

Took a Lyft so we didn't have to worry about parking. They said everything was intended to share and would come out as prepared in random order, so it was always a surprise what was coming next. For 5 of us we shared 13 items, and didn't waste a bite of anything. No doggy bags for us. We were all very full though. The 6th person is a Vegan who was very happy with his 3 items that he ordered. Loved my Yuzu Lemon Drop too.Favorites were the Lemon Shrimp dumplings, the Clams w/Fermented Beans, the roasted root veggies in red miso (carrots & sweet potato), the brussels and the Fried Egg Bahn Mi (even if it was hard to share). Least favorite was probably the wings. A couple folks thought they were too salty. My wing wasn't. I liked it but didn't think the sauce went with it. Everything was loaded with flavor. Dipping sauces all exceptional. All of us loved our experience!"

It took us one hour to get there, but we made it!It was late in the afternoon, so not quite dinner yet. There were only 3 other tables occupied when we walked in, so we were seated right away. I love that Locale is tucked away in the back of Hanover, so it's way less busy than the front part by Mike's. Our server came over right away and took our order since we were starving. We ordered the caesar salad, the cacio e pepe pizza, and the meatball pizza. Holy cow, it was amazing! To start, my husband and I both agreed that the salad was probably the best caesar we've ever had. The romaine was so fresh and crunchy, and the dressing wasn't too heavy. We ate the whole thing. My cacio e pepe pizza was phenomenal. I loved the freshly cracked pepper on top and all the cheese. I thought I'd have a slice or 2 left to take back to our hotel room....but I was wrong since I ate it all lol. Joy G. "I don't drink cocktails as much as I used to, so I am not the best judge of the quality of the drinks here, but I did sample my friends' drinks! Each drink is $15 (so not bad by Manhattan standards?) and they include an automatic gratuity of 20%, so at least you don't have to think about calculating at the end in a slightly buzzed state. We came on a Wednesday night and waited around 20+ minutes for a table of three. The guy manning the line was really funny and personable and was wearing the best Golden Girls/TMNT t-shirt. My only critique is we went from standing at the door to standing in a high-traffic spot for at least one round of drinks before we finally nabbed a table. I knew this place was my jam by the heavily cat-themed decor and menu. Each cocktail was named after one of the cats of backbar and the names were pretty funny (and rather appropriate for each kitty). For an orange cat - "Clementine: Golden, Fluffy, Citrus." Peep the decor, including a small book with a cat on it that said "I Could Pee on This" and a spam tin labeled CRAM. I liked my mocktail, which was a no-alcohol version of their Kimchee drink, which tasted like cold kimchee soup (actually incredibly refreshing on an unseasonably warm day). Also tried my friend's Eno, which was a bit too heavy for me on the whiskey. Overall, a fun place to hang out with buddies or to take a date. The sign is very easy to find from the street, so not technically a speakeasy. I recommend going early on Tuesday to beat the line."

Getting a large group together is inherently difficult, but I was glad that the GM accommodated us for such a busy time (cinco de mayo), and for a group number that ended up fluctuating by a couple at the end. The outdoor patio seating definitely seems more fun and festive- so get seated out there if possible. I let my friends take the lead on the share-ables. Guacamole for both sides of the table, & a pitcher of spicy margaritas was a good call- and we completely finished both. Everyone, for the most part, got tacos. The concise menu helps with deciding. Me and my friend's favorite was the shrimp, which was surprising- I thought the meat tacos were going to be my favorite. The service could have been a little more hands on. People got some additional margaritas and mocktails, and I think that the large order may have led to a little bit of confusion for the waitstaff, but it was no big deal. The New York Strip was a bit chewy/not high quality, and coming with a piece of charred romaine seemed more like a plate filler than a side dish. The fingerling potatoes were fine. After reviewing several sites, plus Yelp, I selected Chickadee. What caught my attention was several of the principals had worked at Barbara Lynch's No 9 Park and Chickadee's amazing 4.5 score on Yelp. It's self-described as a New England-born and Mediterranean-inspired restaurant. There were plenty of reservations available mid-afternoon Tuesday on Resy, which I found surprising for a great restaurant. I selected a 6pm reservation.Having read an extensive review of Chickadee in Boston Magazine, I was ready to order quickly. I started with two signatures: the Smoked Sea Trout Dip and the Crispy Hen of the Woods. The Trout is buried under a layer of light hollandaise-like sauce. The Hen of the Woods mushrooms look like a crazy Bloomin' Onion atop a thick puree of potatoes, walnuts and garlic. Both were excellent and so unique.I was debating between the Spring Onion Spetzle or the Lobster Campanelle pasta. I asked Santiago, my server, which I should pick and he suggested the Lobster. He said the Lobster is somewhat spicy, with Calabrian chili. I asked for it to be served on the side.I can't put my finger on what I disliked about the pasta. It was bland. And the chili sauce was too spicy to be added. You'd think with lobster, it had to be good. I ate about a quarter of my plate and it just wasn't working for me. I set the dish aside and waited for Santiago's return. He asked me if I wanted to box it, and I said no.What I found odd is why he wouldn't have asked if there was an issue with the pasta. But since he didn't ask me, he'll need to read this review. After two amazing starters, I was disappointed with my entrée. As I walked out, the two managers thanked me for visiting, but didn't ask how my meal was.I don't know what would have happened if I told Santiago I didn't like the pasta. Ditto for the managers. Maybe they would have found some accommodation. Regardless, I tipped Santiago 20% and called it a night. I was in the restaurant for one hour."

Predictably, staff seemed unoccupied and I sat myself at the bar immediately. I ordered a dozen oysters, which arrived promptly. They seemed fresh, plump, and delicious, given that the day's oysters originated from the East Coast. Apparently, the origin varies by day or several days. A couple had a bit of grit, but at this price point, I overlooked such a detail. The oysters arrived with 4 garnishes - lemon, cocktail sauce w/horseradish, a spicy mignonette, and a tart and garlicky mignonette. Personally, I preferred a dash of lemon and horseradish.Additionally, the establishment had Maine Lunch IPA on tap for $11. I live in Boston my whole life, and I've never heard of this place, I've been in Arlington, and the Lord knows how many times and never even seen it. It is a little gem, and I'm glad I found it. Upon entering, you're greeted by a really nice hostess, then seated everyone is so polite and so kind. It has an old style rustic Steakhouse look, and I love that it's them in there, so it was exactly the atmosphere I was looking for. They have a pretty good menu, you can find something for everyone on there. From burgers to pasta, seafood, and steaks, they have a variety of things to pick from. Catherine was my server, and she suggested I get the Teriyaki steak tips because I was already considering the steak tips, and she was not wrong. I trusted her advice because she was such a great server and had that on his vibe. I got a side of baked potato and it was really good usually when you go to certain restaurants baked potatoes be so dry that's a question if it's even a real potato but not here it's so good. My daughter had a burger and she also liked it the only problem was there were no pickles which is very weird. My other dislike is I asked for a blended margarita it was very frothy and tasted so watery. Catherine didn't notice that I was drinking it and actually took it off my bill. I guess there are no complaints. All I thought about when I got home was I wish I had dessert but I was way too full, I can't remember the last time I went somewhere and actually finished all the food on my plate.. I was actually upset because I had one steak tip left, and I couldn't finish it, and I wanted it so bad. The prices are also unbelievable, Google the menu. They have a parking lot outside, so parking is no issue at all. All in all, I would definitely be going back here it might be a regular spot for me, at least until I try more of the food."
