"Diner/cafe style vibes with a good sized menu. Service was fast and food was tasty. I enjoyed the Mac and cheese, and the fried chicken on a biscuit with pimento cheese. Food was fairly priced. Perfect for a quick breakfast or lunch."
"Idk what's up with the reviews on this spot but I absolutely loved it. The service was great and the food was delicious. It's a pretty unassuming little place, almost looks buffet style but honestly it was A1."

The place is just next to a gas station but you know everyone in the parking lot is here for this place though cause you know you're getting taken care of. I promise I never met "Angie" but I know who she is cause she is always here and always working. Got to love this space."
"I finally made it to Southern Bistro! This local Bistro is the best of feeling like a comfortable, local gem for anyone with the addition of truly delicious food and good service. I went for dinner and enjoyed the bread rolls and fried green tomatoes to start. Yum! The bread was warm and yeasty and green tomatoes came with goat cheese and delicious toppings. For dinner I enjoyed the duck and sweet potato gratin(so rich) and my date had steak frites. We finished our plates. The weekends in particular get busy so you'll want to make a reservation. The parking lot has ample space! Prices are great for the quality."
"Late dinner after spending the day driving up to Helen and back, then being back at the house to watch the UGA game. Now it's time for more drinks and dinner.Very nice beer list and I love that they offer "half pours" and they're half price. Some local beers and some further away, I enjoyed each of what I had in those cute little mason jars. What's interesting is that Raton & Dram now rotates their kitchen around. Tonight, it was "Jackalope" and they had some great choices though nothing particularly keto friendly. We got the "Smoked Salmon Dumplings" and I had one. Delicious dumplings with cream cheese and smoked salmon topped with "everything panko." Yeah, not keto. Oops. For "main", my choice was the patty melt which included "5 spice tots" that went into the box for my friend to take home. The melt had a tasty spicy sauce that I really enjoyed. This is a nice comfy spot and the sports on TV wasn't loud. Folks were comfy and the service was good. It was a nice spot![Review 15950 overall - 448 in Georgia - 1455 of 2021.]"
"Food was pretty good. Tried the meat lover's omelette and I'm pretty sure it's going to be a best seller if it isn't already. I was disappointed in the grits because it was lumpy. Nonetheless, I would definitely recommend you try it if you're ever in the area."
"Tried a breakfast sandwich here the other day as I was in the area and there wasn't much else around. I was pleasantly surprised by it and happy that the man running the small operation could whip up an item that was let even on the menu. The sandwich was tasty with a big hunk of sausage and came to about $7 which seemed fair. It wasn't busy there and it seemed like he had to turn on his equipment to get things working properly which probably explained why it took about 15 minutes to get the sandwich. K1 offers wings, hot dogs, and some southern staples at an affordable price. My only comment for improvement is that it was a little greasy for my liking but I'd definitely come back. They also told me they are open late night so if you get a hankering and what to support local Black owned business, come check it out"
"Ohhhh yeah!! 1st meal of Atl visit!!This visit could not have been more perfect. Easy to locate. Visually appealing. Sweet young lady greeted and sat hubby, and I.Fannnnntastic service by DeShaun P.DeShaun was instrumental w us selecting a delish meal and beverage. Collectively, we ordered the following. Afta Church Plate: Very good!! Collards... GREAT!!Fried Poke Chop: Cooked well. Could use more seasonings. Jasmine Rice: Pretty good flavor. A little overcooked. Mushy GeecheeRita: Terrific!! Great beverage. Lil' Churn (Mocktail: Muddled Lemon, Fruit Purèe, Various Juices): Yum!! It's refreshing and perfect !!I highly recommend this business and will certainly return back for more tasty greatness."
"Quick service. Good food. Old diner ambiance, which I totally love!I'm kicking myself since it took me this long to try this place out. It's your standard old school American food. Nothing over engineered. Rotisserie was juicy and tasty. But between here and kid cashew, I'd say kid cashew's chicken is the winner. Although this rotisserie is more of a 'traditional' variation - meaning, nothing too fancy - a good overall classic. Also, when it comes to side items, this place kicks Kid Cashew's butt haha. I watched a guy at a next table only eat side items (which they have a 'veggie plate'), and I was like - this dude must be vegetarian. NOPE - it's because their side items are good. It's very homey. All in all, it gives me a Grandma Rudine type of food - lol. If you get my drift. But yeah - i can dig it."
"This is a cool little upscale corner bar. They have an indoor and outdoor situation so on a nice day this is clutch. He's in a hotel so you have all the hotel vibes, a nice lobby even a fireplace. So if you wanted to sit at the bar that's fine, if you want to sit at the restaurant part that's fine, or if you wanted to go probably to the lobby which is right on the other side of the wall, that's also fine too. You'll have good views no matter where you sit in this establishment.I've only ever sat at the bar so if you get to the bar you'll get pretty good service so I would suggest doing that. You got a menu that is page is long full of whiskey and then some other stuff. But if you want whiskey or bourbon, this is a spot. Of course they have an assortment of other cocktails, but it's a whiskey bar so you have to keep in mind that that is their bread and butter.I got an old fashioned kind of situation of course. But I feel like if you want to find a whiskey, if you can't find it here, you may not be able to find anywhere!"
"This place is in a strip mall/shopping center. The parking lot is pretty small but I am usually able to find a parking spot.I ordered this food to go. Staff was very nice and friendly. Took less than 10 minutes for me to get my food.I got the 1/4 white rotisserie chicken, meatloaf, with broccoli casserole and mac. I also got an order of peach cobbler with roll and cornbread. This was way too much food to eat in one sitting so I tried a sampling of everything while it was hot. They gave the peach cobbler cold but offered to heat it up for me.The chicken tasted great and the bbq made it even better. Meatloaf doesn't look good but it tastes pretty good and the bbq sauce gives it a kick as well. The broccoli casserole is my favorite side with plenty of cheese. The mac is decent but not my favorite. The peach cobbler is also decent. I put the cornbread over the roll."
"Wow! My friend had been requesting bbq while visiting Atlanta and I found this place after reading a few articles. The bbq was amazing and they had true Southern Hospitality. We had the big family platter with 4 cuts of of meat and sides. Everything was delicious. My favorite was the mac and cheese and the potato salad. LOVED the ribs - flavored just right and with great juicy meat. The chicken and pork shoulder was also superb. Wish they would've had brisket and burnt ends, but they ran out so go early. Corn bread was also flavorful. The manager was so polite. He checked on us multiple times and wishes us well after we left Tampa for Hurricane Milton. Just great service. The staff member at the front brought us some white sauce even though it isn't on the table and was very hospitable. Fully recommend!"

I travel a ways down the road for this establishment! No where else can a person needing to watch gluten find so MANY delicious choices! Used to go to the Avalon location and hated that it left but oh so glad Piedmont is still available! And the drinks, and dessert! Fabulous! Parking is easy as is in a strip mall. Be prepared to wait during the more obvious main meal hours. You can get breakfast all day and I even like the coffee and coffee is serious to me. the ambience is open and light and makes the most of the space, tables and counters seating with semi booth experiences available. Come hungry!

First time coming here and it was a bit confusing ordering the food. It was a great experience and the food was delicious. We got 2 smothered pork chops, macaroni, greens, dressing, cornbread and a peach lemonade. I don't really like the restaurants in Atlanta but this one was a hit. FINALLY, food with flavor. Reminded me of home

Okay I wanted my mom to try a different fried Chicken other than KFC. I found this place on Yelp because it was on my way home. The reviews were good when it came to the chicken the sides not so much. So the first thing I noticed is that no one spoke to me when I walked in for an uncomfortable amount of time. The place is very small but there are about five people and an L-shape kitchen area. The cashier was new so I understood her reluctance because she was putting together an order behind the counter. A customer actually had to say, "Hey there's somebody here who wants to order." I ordered the 5 piece all dark, just chicken special $6.99. I added a side of green beans which was okay, nothing special. The premium order of collard greens was so spicy that I couldn't even close my mouth. It was ridiculous. People should be allowed to add their own spiciness level to their collard greens. I didn't finish them I didn't want them and I threw them away. So all in all, I will be back because 20 minutes later after I got home my chicken was still crispy and boy was it yummy!.

My daughter and I had a lovely dinner at Southern Bistro last evening. The restaurant is so pretty . . . cool and quiet inside with an understated interior. Tables are well-spaced for conversation which is always a plus. I had the Nancy G's Country Club salad and it was delicious and HUGE! I love a salad where the lettuce is cut into manageable bites with the toppings scattered throughout, rather than just placed on top. I would have preferred grilled rather than fried chicken, but it was fine. Nicely chopped cucumbers, halved tasty tomatoes, tons of avocado, with bacon, and cheese made this a satisfying meal (although it was so large I could only eat about a fourth of it!)My daughter chose the chopped steak entree which was served with a very tasty grave atop a large serving of mashed potatoes, alongside nicely sauteed spinach. She loved every bite (and again, a huge portion which would satisfy even the hungriest patron!) Comfort food indeed! Our server was kind, attentive, and skillful. She was responsible for a number of tables but still checked on us frequently during our meal, refilling our drinks and asking about our meal. It was a very nice experience and we'll definitley be back soon!

We had an enjoyable Sunday brunch at Ration & Dram. I like this place. This is a contemporary New American/Southern restaurant and bar that opened in March 2014 in a freestanding building on the eastern side of Edgewood. It replaced the Arizona Pub (https://www.yelp.com/biz/the-arizona-pub-atlanta). It's located across from the Arizona Lofts and the Arizona Ave Soccer Fields. Free parking is available in a small lot behind the restaurant (about 15 spaces) and on the street. You shouldn't have a problem finding a spot. The restaurant is inside a cool-looking, modern industrial building. There are at least two floors. For Sunday brunch service, only the first floor was open. The first floor isn't very big. I guesstimate they can seat about 12 people at the bar and another 20 or so at tables (including a few high-tops). The storefront has garage-style doors that retract up when the weather is nice. There are more tables out on the patio. The patio and part of the building are enclosed by bushes and trees. We showed up just before 11am and slid into some of the last remaining parking spots in the back lot. We joined a small crowd that had built up outside the door just before the restaurant opened at 11. Apparently, brunch here is popular. We were lucky to show up when we did and were seated immediately at the bar. The place was at or near capacity in a matter of minutes. The atmosphere was laid back and casual. The space looks nice and it was clean during our visit. There's a TV mounted on the wall at one end of the bar. It was playing sports.Ration & Dram serves dinner six nights a week, Wednesday through Monday, and brunch on Saturday and Sunday. The business is closed on Tuesday. Both the dinner and brunch menus are streamlined with less than 20 dishes on each menu. When we visited, prices at brunch ranged from $4 for a bowl of grits to $13 for the "Gringa" (more on that below). At dinner, small plates ranged in price from $4-12 each, entrees $9-20, and desserts $6-7. The kitchen uses high-quality, locally/regionally-sourced ingredients. The bar has an extensive cocktail, beer, and wine menu. Here's what we ordered:Food:-- "Smalls"* Beignets ($1.50 each, minimum of three must be ordered) - fluffy beignets with powdered sugar* McDowell ($5) - English muffin sandwich with breakfast sausage, egg, and cheddar* Hick Fil-A ($5) - buttermilk biscuit, fried chicken breast, pimento cheese, bread and butter pickles-- "Biggies"* Tofu Scramble ($10) - mushroom, tomato, bell pepper, onion, turmeric, and potato hash (grits also an option)* Gringa ($13) - crispy maitake mushroom, two poached eggs, creamy grits, and GruyereDrinks:* Nitro coffee (small size, $3)* Orange juice ($3)In general, the food and drink were great. We enjoyed everything and I can't say there was a single bad thing. Dish presentation was beautiful. Portion sizes were reasonable. The beignets were delectable. They were fresh and served hot out the fryer. I loved the sweet powdered sugar and how warm, soft, and melt-in-your-mouth good the pastries were. These were some of the best beignets I've had in the city to date. The McDowell and the Hick Fil-A sandwiches are obvious plays on McDonald's Sausage McMuffin with Egg and Chick-fil-A's Chicken Biscuit, respectively. The McDowell even comes wrapped like a McDonald's Sausage McMuffin with a golden-arched "M" stuck on the outside. Funny. The McDowell was quite good with the savory sausage patty being the highlight along with the melty cheddar cheese. I didn't try the Hick Fil-A, but my friend who ate it liked it. It looked yummy. The tofu scramble was delicious. The food was bright and colorful and tasted as appetizing as it looked. Everything tasted fresh with the eggs and tofu being nicely seasoned and particularly flavorful. This was a satisfying dish. The Gringa was unique and excellent. The maitake mushroom, also known as hen-of-the-woods, was served as one whole piece. It had to be eaten with a fork and knife. I've never seen it served like that before and I liked it. The grits were warm and had a wonderful, almost silky smooth, consistency. They were mild in flavor. The mushroom, however, made up for it as it was salty. The eggs may have been the best part. They were terrific quality and perfectly poached. The soft yolks were ideal for mixing in with the grits and mushroom. The Nitro cold brew coffee and the OJ were tasty with simple, neat, and clean presentation.Service was great. The staff was polite and efficient. During a busy brunch rush, they appeared to be on top of things.

Helloooooo,1. Philly cheesesteak omelette is amazing!!!! Like whuuuuu they married two flavors into one delicious meal. 2. Service was pretty quick. No complaints there. 3. Since it is a country foods cafe, it is pretty chill. Got that old school one ding to it if you know what I mean

This was me and my husband's, first time dining at this restaurant. The food was so delicious, and the employees are super nice. I had shrimp and grits, and added collard greens. My husband had string beans, smothered pork chops and added corn bread. Every bite was yummy. Jaden was our waiter and was super nice. We may be back if we're in the area.
Visit Restaurant Page"Naturally, (being from Nebraska) we opted for this breakfast spot based solely on the name! We were created by friendly smiling faces for 2 of our 3 mornings in Stone Mountain because we enjoyed Huskers Cafe THAT much. Good coffee, good food, good people- what more could you ask for? The restaurant is located in a strip mall and is a pretty nice and inviting place inside! They serve breakfast and lunch (not sure about dinner). I had their chicken and waffle for my first time there and had the sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit the 2nd trip there. The chicken and waffle were great! The chicken was breaded, seasoned, and cooked to perfection and with the waffle and syrup was a perfect pairing! Their syrup comes out in preheated bottles which is a nice touch. Their syrup isn't as sweet as I am accustomed to so keep that in mind. The sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit was amazing. Biscuit is moist and buttery but held its own on the sandwich."
"Can't believe it's taken me almost 25 years to visit the Old Vinings Inn. I attended a large group (18-person) dinner here and enjoyed it. The food, drink, and service were good to great. This is a classic Southern restaurant that's been around since 1990. In metro Atlanta, where restaurants constantly come and go, Old Vinings Inn has been a fixture. I'd always known this to be that old white house with live music and from this visit, I learned that the food, drink, and service here are solid too. There's live music (and sometimes, comedy) every Thursday-Saturday night in the attic bar. Tickets are $5 per person. I'd call them at 770-438-2282 for bar reservations and more info. You can view which artists they have booked on the calendar here: https://oldviningsinn.net/atlanta-vinings-old-vinings-inn-live-musicTo book reservations for the dining room or patio, use OpenTable. When you reserve using OpenTable, you earn dining points which can be used to redeem restaurant discounts, Amazon gift cards, hotel stays, and magazine subscriptions. The restaurant has a free dedicated parking lot, but space is limited to about 20 spaces or so. The setback (clearance) between the building/entrance and Paces Mill Road is tight. The building has been around since the 1880s. It's been an apartment house, gas station, general store, and post office. Many parts of the structure, inside and out, still look old, but it's got a rustic charm to it. The dining rooms are understated and refined. There are nice traditional elements like the fireplace in the lobby. The low-ceiling attic bar has a more casual atmosphere. In general, I thought this was a great spot for our group and it looked like it would work equally as well for a romantic date night (intimate, artificially-candlelit, white tablecloth). When I entered the restaurant, none other than owner Lee Schulman opened the door and welcomed me in. What better way to enter the Old Vinings Inn than that? I recognized Lee from his 2017 appearance on the local TV show Atlanta Eats as well as from the restaurant's website where I browsed the menu beforehand. Lee told me he bought this place about 10 years ago. I asked him if it had actually ever been an inn and he said no. I guess it's just in the name. One of my buddies had been here before Lee took over and he told me that he thought the place was outdated. I believe several renovations have been made since Lee became the owner. I know the private room we dined in had been renovated at some point relatively recently. Also, I've known two couples who dined on the patio here during and since the pandemic. Both couples told me they enjoyed everything, from the food to the atmosphere. One of my coworkers organized this dinner. It was done family style, which I liked. The ambiance was cozy and homey. The menu was mostly preset. The only decisions we had to make were individual drink and entree orders. The entire drink menu, with cocktails and wines by the glass and bottle, was available to us. The food menu was custom-made and had a special message at the top congratulating our other coworker on his retirement (this was his retirement dinner). I thought that was a nice touch by the restaurant. Here's what we had:Appetizers (served family style)* Dip Duo - pimento cheese and spinach-artichoke-sun dried tomato dips, sea salt-herbed olive oil flatbreads* Southern Fry Baskets - calamari, shrimp, hush puppies, pickled veggies, remoulade, jezebel sauceSalad* Artisan Greens - seasonal vegetables, champagne vinaigrette, crispy chickpeasEntrees (we each got to pick one)* Seared Atlantic Salmon - lemon-basil compound butter* Coleman All-Natural Buttermilk Fried Chicken Breast - thyme gravy* Grilled Bistro Steak - rosemary-black garlic demi glace* Vegetable Pasta - herbed fresh local spaghetti, seasonal vegetables, garlic, extra virgin olive oil, ParmesanAccoutrements (sides, served family style)* Whipped Potatoes* Crispy Brussels Sprouts* Mac & Cheese* Pot Likker Collards with Smoky BaconDesserts (served family style)* Warm Fruit Cobbler - crunchy granola topping, vanilla ice cream* Flourless Chocolate Torte - blood orange coulis, hazelnuts, candied gingerOverall, I've got to say I was pleasantly surprised by the food. Everything was delicious. For all these years, I had no idea this quality of Southern food was right here in Vinings. Admittedly, places like the now-shuttered Paces & Vine in nearby Vinings Jubilee overshadowed Old Vinings Inn for me. Thinking more widely around Atlanta, South City Kitchen comes to mind. However, where I think Old Vinings Inn shines is in the type of Southern food they serve. It's simple and traditional. They stick to tried-and-true classics and I thought they executed every one of our dishes well. My drink, a Jamaican Old Fashioned, made with Jamaican rum, pineapple amaro, demerara, allspice bitters, and Luxardo cherry, was quite tasty. I recommend it.Service was terrific."
"I came here for dinner on a Wednesday night and there was a 15 minute wait.Biscuit & Cornbread - the biscuit was very fluffy and buttery. The cornbread was soft, fluffy, and had bits of corn in it to add some texture. It wasn't as gritty as other cornbreads which I liked.Fried green tomatoes - I'm not a huge fan of goat cheese but I really liked how all the flavors worked together. The tanginess of the marinara balanced the goat cheese well.Cornmeal Spoonbread - the beef was mostly tender but some pieces were dry. The cornmeal base had a similar texture to an egg frittata. The dish had a lot of flavor.Peach Salad - all the flavors worked well together surprisingly. I really liked the peach yogurt and the slices of peaches. It was a refreshing salad.Springer Mountain Farms Fried Chicken - the flavor was good but the chicken was very dry. The collard greens were okay but lacked flavor. The mashed potatoes were some of the best mashed potatoes I've had surprisingly. It was smooth and creamy with a little bit of potato chunks and skin."
"About a 1-1.5: We checked out Sweet Georgia's Juke Joint as a group for an early dinner; note that nowhere on the site is it mentioned that each member of your party will get charged $5 for the 'live music', automatically, added to your check. Also, you have a limit of 2 hours at your table.Getting seated was prompt, and we had a pretty good view of the stage and the performers without much obstruction. The menu is very limited, but they do 'run out' of items (aka, not prepared on time); we went the first day that they had opened for the week, and they were already out of several entrees...I tried:+the Fried Green Tomatoes - the batter was overfried, and the tomatoes were just not ripened nor were they cooked long enough+Juke Cheeseburger - I actually wanted to try their Braised Short Rib, but they were out; the burger itself was okay, as it came with cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and onions, served with a side of fries; the fries were not made-to-order, as they were cold and soggyOur server was inattentive and rarely checked in on us. She also was not detail-oriented and didn't really listen; she carelessly dropped off dessert that no one ordered, and then tried to blame it on us... really? The only decent part of this experience was the live music. In between sets, they played old-school music videos. The place is a bit dark, and definitely could use a deep clean.Definitely not worth a visit.+inattentive service+inaccurate orders+$5 automatic 'cover charge' per person for live music"
"I was looking for food on a Thursday night and settled on The Works food hall because it never disappoints. Because it was almost 9pm, many of the stalls were closing or had already closed, but one of the stalls I immediately came across when entering was Doug's. Given that I frequent The Works often, I knew this spot was fairly new. I walked around and some of my go-tos were closed, so I decided to give Doug's a try. When I walked up, I was immediately greeted. I didn't get the guy's name, but I think his picture is on the sign, so obviously, he's one of the owners lol. He was really cool though! I asked how long they'd been open and he said only a few weeks. He mentioned up front that they were out of baked beans and cole slaw, and I made a comment that I don't like cole slaw anyway, so that was fine. He made a joke and said I wasn't gonna talk about his cole slaw because it was kale-based lol. So he went over to the container and scraped me out the last bit so I could taste it, and it was really good! I gave him his props and told him I'd try it next time.I wound up ordering The 919 Platter - fried whiting fish with two sides, and for my sides, I chose macaroni and cheese and hush puppies. I asked if they had any veggies, but he said the only veggie-adjacent side was the slaw, which they were out of. He told me give him about 10 minutes and my food would be ready. So I walked around again then came back and sat down at the counter. A few minutes later, my food was ready and it looked and smelled SOOOO good! When I got home, I was ready to dive into that plate lol. Y'all. The fish. THE FISH!! It was perfect. Seasoned so well, fried to perfection, perfect portion size, and white bread! Lol the country girl in me LOVES fried fish and this did not disappoint! The hush puppies were standard, solid hush puppies. The mac and cheese, despite being made earlier in the day I'm sure, was still really good - cheesy, seasoned, and all-around solid mac.I tore that food all the way UP, okay?! Lol I can't wait to go back to Doug's and try some of their other dishes. I love that they brand themselves as a healthier alternative to traditional pork-based BBQ, as they offer turkey instead. I hope they are very successful at The Works."
"First time at this restaurant. I was in the area and wanted some bbq ribs. I saw this place, and decided to give it a try. When my husband placed the order, the young lady taking the order wasn't pleasant at all. Anyway, I had rib tips, potato salad and collard greens. The ribs were seasoned well, but the potato salad had too much mustard in it. The collard greens weren't seasoned at all. The restaurant didn't have hot sauce. Wow really? You have collard greens and no hot sauce. The restaurant was clean, they give you a nice portion of meat, and you can dine in if you wanted too. They don't add bbq sauce on the meat, it's placed on the side. I'm not always on this end of town, so most likely, I wont be back."
"This is definitely a hole in the wall hidden gem. Breakfast spot open at 6Am! Line already out the door. I've been driving by here for plenty of years and I finally came . The breakfast food here is super cheap . Cooked to perfect and it taste good. Lol the owners do talk s**t so don't come with an attitude.I would definitely come again it's reasonable price. They sell out quick and I can see why . It's 6 am and almost 10-15 people already in line.Don't let the outside fool you . On the outside this building look like trash !The food inside taste good.I can only speak for the breakfast. I see they sell lunch but I haven't tried it yet"
"I was heading home and on 285. Did a quick search for a breakfast joint on the Yelp app. This popped up with good reviews. Dang am I glad I found it! It was busy on a Sunday morning. Luckily I snagged a place at the bar. Got a coffee. Ordered the breakfast dumplings and then the hash with some eggs over easy on it. OMG both were amazing! The dumplings had a breakfast like sausage in them with a maple syrup on top. The hash had a ton of meat and cheese. Was super filling. Service was great at the bar. Food was amazing. I highly recommend for breakfast!"
"i would say this 3 is more like a 3.5. the food wasnt really that good which was disappointing but the service was really good and everyone was super sweet. i got the bad to the bone (pulled pork sandwich that was on DDD) with mac n cheese. the sandwich didnt really have any flavor it deff needed some bbq sauce on it. the mac n cheese really wasnt flavorful either it was just meh. i left super disappointed ngl. everything was also a little greasy. i really wanted to like it but i just wasnt impressed."
"I really wish I could add half stars, as I would rate my experience a 3.5. I went on a Saturday around 5 pm. It was still considered brunch up until 6pm. They have a private parking lot in the rear of the restaurant. There was a $10 parking fee so I would have assumed the lot was being overseen by the attendants who were out there, however that was not the case. I'm assuming they only charged because it was brunch time as by the time we got back to the car to leave. The parking attendants were gone and it was now free to park. There is an entrance off the main road, as well as an entrance in the back. For the rear entrance you have to walk up a couple sets of stairs from the parking lot. Outside the rear entrance there's a grass wall. The restaurant is honestly inline with most grass wall restaurants. It's good to sit back and vibe. They offer hookah of course, but if you choose to partake you're sat in a separate room. The playlist was on point, with quite a few Beyonce songs played. Not sure if that's why it's called the hive. However the music was really loud, we could barely hear each other during dinner. We were seated immediately. Our server was very nice however it seems staff would communicate what items are sold out prior to ordering. We placed our order, and afterwards she came back 3 times to advised items were sold out or unavailable. The food and drinks were definitely overpriced but everything was honestly very flavorful and delicious. The waters and non alcoholic beverages came out in clear plastic cups. When asking for the dipping sauces that were supposed to come with the egg rolls they brought them out in black wicker type basket along with extra napkins. It was definitely throwing off the setting with the picnic-esque items."
"I stopped by Luda's Chicken and Beer while I was in the ATL airport waiting on my flight to Dallas. The brother Rodney that greeted me was very friendly (1st impressions are everything). I wasn't hungry so I decided to try the Pinot Gris which if you know anything about wine, is made from the same type of grapes as Pinot Grigio, but the grapes come from a different parts of the world. Anyways.... Back to my review on the establishment. LolI cant speak on the food, as I didn't have an appetite, but the service was great & each table has its own outlet for charging devices. The food that I saw in neighboring tables looked delicious, but you'll just have to check it out and see for yourself. Ask for "Rodney," if you want superb service."
"Most people would be surprised to learn that although Atlanta is in the south, there aren't a lot of great southern restaurants here (in my opinion). Yes, there are a lot of southern/soul food restaurants around. I just haven't had great experiences at many. Magnolia Room is located in Tucker which is in the metro Atlanta area. I was very impressed by my first visit. We were greeted with smiles by all of the staff that we encountered. The restaurant is set up cafeteria style and they have quite a few options. We arrived after the lunch rush and they weren't too busy. I ordered the Salisbury steak, candied yams and macaroni and cheese. I also added a piece of fried catfish. Y'all, there are definitely some grandmas in the back cooking because that food was delicious. I sampled my mom's collard greens and they were some of the best I've had in a long time. The catfish was fried perfectly and the yams were just right. Everything was seasoned very well except the Mac and cheese. It was good, but could've benefited from some extra seasoning. My mom, who is a great cook enjoyed her food as well.We had a great first experience and I'm looking forward to returning."
"Visiting in Atlanta and wanted to try another fried chicken place. Had tried Gus' already. Wasn't expecting to try Korean style but glad we did. Four of us thought the chicken was delicious...nicely fried and juicy (even the white meat). We also tried their green salad (cabbage and corn with a 1000 Island-type dressing), Kimchee mac and cheese (not to our liking), and the Korean corn (kernels with mozzarella cheese). Didn't get a pic of our 1/2 bird before we chowed at it. For the Taiwan Beer, this was the least favorite version that we tried (mango and lychee were great tasting). The establishment itself was simple, with some bench seating and regular chairs around tables, black walls and a couple of tvs.You order at the counter and the menu is clearly displayed on the wall. The cashier was cheerful and welcoming. It wasn't long for our order to come up and the chicken was piping hot. We chose the honey garlic sauce, which was like the Asian take of syrup (a bit too much on the sweet side). It's definitely a place to go try when you're over there. Yum!"
"I love HH for breakfast. Always get the plate w/ scrambled eggs & cheese, bacon, grits & biscuits. The size of their biscuits varies based on who's making them that day. Today was a good biscuit day. Nice & large. I've never really been a fan of their BBQ except that I do love their Brunswick stew. But based on other reviews, maybe I should give the ribs a try sometime. They're always packed on Saturday which is when we've visited recently. Servers are always nice & attentive. We'll return for sure."
"In the clutch when I'm starving I will call ahead for the 10 wings combo. It's basic. Good flavors. Wing size is terrible. I just do what I can when hungry."
"I was introduced to this "Atlanta " staple in the heart of the west side. Here is my review! The gps will bring you directly to the small plaza so slow down so you don't have to come to a hard stop to turn! There is Also plenty of free parking in this small parking lot so no worries on parking fees! The line for food is similar to that of a lunch line. All the "cooks"/staff are friendly but definitely gives the lunch line check out ambience. There are a few seats for you to sit in the back but for the most part it's ran like a in and out type of establishment. The meal is set the same daily as I've been 3 times and no difference in menu was present. Also, the drink does not come with the meal but you can purchase it and deserts separately. Now the food- quality was not to my liking. Green beans tasted canned, the chicken was good. The homemade gravy and stuffing was nasty to me. Kinda disappointing if you had your mouth set on authentic southern soul food. This is truly my opinion. Maybe your tastebuds will be open to the flavors but for me it was giving bland! Lunch line seriously! Overall, I've been 3 xs and I guess at this point I'm supporting for the cause! Will probably go again lol"
"I wanna love this place, really. I'm going to be in the minority here, but honestly, I don't think it's that great. I know lots of people love this place, but when I went back recently, it wasn't the place I remembered from awhile back. This place is super quaint, running out of an old, historic house. It's very popular for lunch as the line and the small, gravel lot fills up shortly after they open at 11. If you drive into the lot and find it full, good luck backing out. It's tight. In case you miss the signs, there's additional parking at Osteria Mattone.I was pretty excited about the cuban thinking ... a place with pickle in the name serving a sandwich that has good pickle presence ... should be legit. It was good, decent. The creole thing gave it a nice punch. It's just not a cuban. Not on the right bread, not the right kind of pork, etc. The coleslaw I ordered was less like salad and more like soup.Tuna melt was good but again nothing epic. Potato salad definitely not my favorite. Now, I will say those fried pickles breaded in cornmeal and deep-fried are worth coming for. Delicious!"
"Loved it! Get there early as it get super busy by 9AM. The service was fast and friendly. I will say that the service disappeared after we received our plates.Prices were normal for the times ... though a $4 coffee and a $4 bottled water was shocking. The food, though, was amazing. Loved the chicken in waffles .. well seasoned, good coating. The waffles were crunchy outside and cakes inside .. perfect consistency. The souther breakfast has traditional eggs, meat, bread, and grits. Smooth grits with just the right amount of salt and smothered in cheddar cheese. I did request over medium eggs but received over easy. Definitely recommend this restaurant!"
"Discovered MetroWest on IG upon realizing they are owned by the couple who recently launched PO5 in College Park. The energy that is exuded from their social media pages, makes you want to support! The food was freshly prepared upon ordering(kiosk) and worth the wait. We ordered 2 catfish & fries, and 1 catfish/shrimp and fries. I do wish you could select a different side, as I wanted to try the greens or mac n cheese. There is a sign that says no substitutions, so fries it was. The fries are your basic frozen variety. The catfish was freshly fried, and was tasty. Cold lemonade accompanied each box. The service is exceptional at MetroWest, as the owner takes pride in what his business brings to the community. We look forward to returning to try the salmon Philly next!"
"On a recent trip to ATL, with my Canadian colleague, I insisted she try some good southern cooking and soul food. After perusing a variety of restaurants we landed here on a Tuesday late afternoon. It was not that busy, lots of staff standing around. Not sure if this is a newer restaurant in terms of location (I know the backstory and it has been around for decades) and that is why things felt disjointed. Our server took about 10 minutes to even come to our table. We ordered some basic (non bar) drinks. Water and a ginger ale. I was disappointed that the entire time we were there the staff never came to refill the waters as I chug through at least 2-3 glasses when dining. The food was GOOD. I ordered the fried chicken platter, my sides being brussels and mashed potatoes. I will say that the brussels were DELISH, and the Fried Chicken was excellent. Moist and juicy with just the right amount of 'fry' to it. Seemed to be the same coating/batter they use for the fried green tomatoes. Saved some room for the famous peach cobbler which was good, but did not knock my socks off or anything. I loved watching the robots deliver the food to the tables. Very cool, and nice that servers are not having to run back and forth however it seemed like they did not utilize that time to ensure their tables had refilled water or my colleague wanted another ginger ale but never got the opportunity to order one. Food was good - service was good balanced between things that went well and opportunities."
"We had Sunday brunch here in April 2023 On Sunday, you can self park in the back even though the sign says valet. I got the steak and eggs and it is a winner. It was absolutely delicious. The steak was so tender and it was a ton of food too. We ordered the beignets but they weren't my favorite. The inside was kinda chewy but not really flavorful, just the taste of dough. They have powdered sugar but really needed a side of caramel or chocolate sauce in my opinion. I'd skip these next time. The drinks were different variations of mimosas, strong on the wine. They were good but I really liked whatever cocktail my friend had best so I'll have to try out their liquor cocktails next time instead of the wine ones I'd definitely come back for the steak and eggs again though!"
"Fox brothers bbq is a small food truck like bbq joint located in Atalanta Georgia that me and my cousin stopped buy for a quick lunch before headed downtown to watch a football game between our local Lousiville cardinals and Georgia Tech. You pull up and the establishment shares a parking lot with what looks like a corporate building. You walk up to the window and place your order and to the left they have a smaller covered patio with a few park benches to eat. I personally went with a pulled pork sandwich with a side of baked beans and my cousin went with a brisket sandwich with a side of macaroni. Service here was friendly and fast and they had our food out to us within ten minutes. The portions were plenty. Not the biggest buns but they packed plenty of pork for the sandwiches. Was a pretty good pork sandwich and I can see why this place seems popular in the Atlanta area. Nice flavor and the sauce for the sandwich had a solid and tasty tang to it. The baked beans were solid as well. A nice compliment to the meal for sure. Overall this was a nice little lunch with a unique setup. Being in what looks like a commercial area in only imagine how crowded and business this spot gets during lunch times. We stopped in for a late lunch around 2pm so was just us and a handful but they handled us well with quick, fast and accurate service. Worth checking out of your a bbq fan and in the atlanta area."
