"I went with a friend to try this spot while in town. Parking was free and in close proximity. It was close to closing so there were just a few people in the restaurant. I ordered Kalebone sandwich and roasted potatoes. First of all, those potatoes were fire. They were really good. The sandwich was extremely good and filling. I didn't eat the entire sandwich but finished it later. It was a good experience. I could try other menu items again when in town."
"I came here for some good soul food and southern hospitality and I got both!I ordered the oxtails on yellow rice with Mac n cheese and collard greens. The oxtails were too salty for my taste, but were quite tender and yummy nonetheless . And the yellow rice was slightly hard. But the Mac n cheese and collard greens were so delicious, maybe the best I've ever had. I wish I could have tried all the main proteins! They had so many to choose from, from smothered pork chops to fried chicken to fried fish. I recommend this place!"

As I dined in I noticed the dining area could be better maintained. I understand this was an old Hardee's so this would explain the seating and the hot bar area. I've had better unknown if there are new cooks or new management. Peas were not seasoned well but ok. Rice is rice it was not sticky or gummy. The dining area needs extensive work. Brown ceiling from old water stains. Roof is needed as it was an old Hardee's. New buffet needed. Exterior needs work ..... "Decided to try this spot while I was in the area. It was just a vibe. We noticed people were coming and going, so I just knew the food would be good. When I got there I placed my order through their app. To my surprise they had and serve multiple restaurants from the location. Honestly, I think it's brilliant ! The plate was packed, stuffed with the side. The Mac n cheese is very good, you can taste the spices. The yams tastes like thanksgiving or Christmas. And the greens, yes lawd, add a little hot sauce and I'd think I made them myself. Chick'n nuggets are seasoned very well. It didn't take long to get the food and everything was contactless. There was a guy you could talk to if needed but ultimately, it was a contactless situation. Different but brilliant. There's like 8 restaurants in one location."
"Okay here is my update on the food. Finally had a chance to taste something there. We called ahead to make sure they had brisket and was told it would be ready in 30 minutes but when we got there they said another hour maybe. This place needs to run more efficiently as a business. The Food needs to be cooked and ready to serve customers. They are going to miss out on a lot of business due to this problem. We ended up getting Turkey ribs with green beans. Mac and cheese and a side of potato salad. I did enjoy it and will be back but if they aren't prepared I will just take my money somewhere else."
"I was looking for food on a Thursday night and settled on The Works food hall because it never disappoints. Because it was almost 9pm, many of the stalls were closing or had already closed, but one of the stalls I immediately came across when entering was Doug's. Given that I frequent The Works often, I knew this spot was fairly new. I walked around and some of my go-tos were closed, so I decided to give Doug's a try.When I walked up, I was immediately greeted. I didn't get the guy's name, but I think his picture is on the sign, so obviously, he's one of the owners lol. He was really cool though! I asked how long they'd been open and he said only a few weeks. He mentioned up front that they were out of baked beans and cole slaw, and I made a comment that I don't like cole slaw anyway, so that was fine. He made a joke and said I wasn't gonna talk about his cole slaw because it was kale-based lol. So he went over to the container and scraped me out the last bit so I could taste it, and it was really good! I gave him his props and told him I'd try it next time.I wound up ordering The 919 Platter - fried whiting fish with two sides, and for my sides, I chose macaroni and cheese and hush puppies. I asked if they had any veggies, but he said the only veggie-adjacent side was the slaw, which they were out of. He told me give him about 10 minutes and my food would be ready. So I walked around again then came back and sat down at the counter. A few minutes later, my food was ready and it looked and smelled SOOOO good!When I got home, I was ready to dive into that plate lol. Y'all. The fish. THE FISH!! It was perfect. Seasoned so well, fried to perfection, perfect portion size, and white bread! Lol the country girl in me LOVES fried fish and this did not disappoint! The hush puppies were standard, solid hush puppies. The mac and cheese, despite being made earlier in the day I'm sure, was still really good - cheesy, seasoned, and all-around solid mac.I tore that food all the way UP, okay?! Lol I can't wait to go back to Doug's and try some of their other dishes. I love that they brand themselves as a healthier alternative to traditional pork-based BBQ, as they offer turkey instead. "This is definitely a hole in the wall hidden gem. Breakfast spot open at 6Am! Line already out the door. I've been driving by here for plenty of years and I finally came . The breakfast food here is super cheap . Cooked to perfect and it taste good. Lol the owners do talk s**t so don't come with an attitude.I would definitely come again it's reasonable price.They sell out quick and I can see why . It's 6 am and almost 10-15 people already in line.Don't let the outside fool you . On the outside this building look like trash !The food inside taste good.I can only speak for the breakfast. "I passed by here a couple weeks back and decided to stop in this past Sunday. There were a few people waiting and I talked to a regular since the restaurant opened she made suggestions which was everything on the smothered chicken plate. The corn muffin was fine rice cooked perfectly which was a plus chicken was a little over cooked for my liking and could have used more salt and the collards were just ok. Now for plate two I got this plate for my friend but of course I tried everything on it . The pork chops were good and still hot when I got to her house, the cabbage was good, the Mac and cheese looked like Kraft, but it did not taste like Kraft.It was nice and creamy and very flavorful I would definitely get it again the plate comes with 2 sides, I wanted Mac and cheese, but it was not ready when I placed my order, however; it was ready before I left so she gave me a cup which I appreciated. The dressing is a big no for me worst thing on both plates I would not order it again my friend agreed. We also had Carmel cake, but I forgot to take a picture. It was good as well. "I'm in love. I've been coming here several times for meeting and been wanting to find my hole in the wall kind of spot. THIS HIT the SPOT in every which way. You know it's good when the food got you moaning like it's sexing it up. Is this what dirty south means?! OMG I can't stop thinking about that oxtail dish I had with the rice and collards.Maybe all the regulars are use to eating this on a daily and thinking nothing of it. But from someone from the East coast North that knows nothing about it got me educated. This is definitely a one stop must for me if you down at ATL. OXTAIL is highly recommended. The fried chicken hit the spot and that banana budding put me to BED. Just writing this review got me needing to shower."

First time coming here and it was a bit confusing ordering the food. It was a great experience and the food was delicious. We got 2 smothered pork chops, macaroni, greens, dressing, cornbread and a peach lemonade. I don't really like the restaurants in Atlanta but this one was a hit. FINALLY, food with flavor. Reminded me of home

On my last trip to Atlanta, my sister and brother-in-law discovered Big Daddy Dish, a down-home soul food establishment, and couldn't stop raving about it. Determined not to miss out, I made it a priority to visit this time around--and I'm so glad I did.I savored the beef ribs with black-eyed peas and mac and cheese. Each dish comes with a delectable piece of lard cornbread--yum! While the decor and aesthetics might be modest, the flavors are anything but. Every bite is a testament to the rich, authentic soul food experience. The staff embodies true Southern hospitality, making you feel right at home.If you're in Atlanta and craving soul food, Big Daddy Dish is a must-visit.

Do not go here. I got food poisoning after eating it. The Mac & cheese was like elbow macaroni soup with cheese shreds on top. Went once and never going back again. Also, don't EVER get the fish because I believe that's what made me sick.

This was my first time trying a vegan restaurant. Food was 10/10! The soul rolls were amazing and the Mac & Cheese. The Philly egg rolls are better hot right out the fryer. I would like to go back to try other menu items. It was a pick up and go type of joint. So nowhere to dine in. Just by the taste alone I'll be back.

I had my meal delivered to me from Uber Eats. I was down the street at the shop waiting for my car to finish. The wait was like 20 mins, which wasn't bad. By the time the driver hot to me, my food was still fresh and hot. I've been meaning to go back, but keep forgetting. I ordered the rib tips, mac n cheese and Hawaiian baked beans. EVERYTHING WAS THE BOMB.COM My next visit will be in person and I can not wait. I do know the outside has a nice feel to it with picnic tables and umbrellas if you wanted to sit outside and enjoy your food and weather.

There was only one person manning the grills and the cash registered which resulted in a longer than typical wait of about 20 minutes soon after they opened. Perhaps they were not expecting it to be as busy on a Saturday morning. I was able to try a bit of their brisket combination plate that included their candied yams and macaroni cheese. Because of being understaffed, I imagine the quality was not as representative of how they would have been otherwise. In terms of flavors, I found the yams to be in plenty of brown sugar and the macaroni to have a distinct flavor unlike any I've had before. However, the brisket was left to be a bit dry and barely reheated. Similarly, both the sides could have benefited from being more fresh.Otherwise, I think this could have been really good! It is an intimate little kiosk run by a local family. I would like to come and try more in the future.

"I was introduced to this "Atlanta " staple in the heart of the west side. Here is my review!The gps will bring you directly to the small plaza so slow down so you don't have to come to a hard stop to turn! There is Also plenty of free parking in this small parking lot so no worries on parking fees! The line for food is similar to that of a lunch line. All the "cooks"/staff are friendly but definitely gives the lunch line check out ambience.There are a few seats for you to sit in the back but for the most part it's ran like a in and out type of establishment. The meal is set the same daily as I've been 3 times and no difference in menu was present. Also, the drink does not come with the meal but you can purchase it and deserts separately. Now the food- quality was not to my liking. Green beans tasted canned, the chicken was good. The homemade gravy and stuffing was nasty to me. Kinda disappointing if you had your mouth set on authentic southern soul food. This is truly my opinion. Maybe your tastebuds will be open to the flavors but for me it was giving bland! Lunch line seriously! Overall, I've been 3 xs and I guess at this point I'm supporting for the cause! Will probably go again lol"

"On a recent trip to ATL, with my Canadian colleague, I insisted she try some good southern cooking and soul food. After perusing a variety of restaurants we landed here on a Tuesday late afternoon. It was not that busy, lots of staff standing around. Not sure if this is a newer restaurant in terms of location (I know the backstory and it has been around for decades) and that is why things felt disjointed. Our server took about 10 minutes to even come to our table. We ordered some basic (non bar) drinks. Water and a ginger ale. I was disappointed that the entire time we were there the staff never came to refill the waters as I chug through at least 2-3 glasses when dining.The food was GOOD. I ordered the fried chicken platter, my sides being brussels and mashed potatoes. I will say that the brussels were DELISH, and the Fried Chicken was excellent. Moist and juicy with just the right amount of 'fry' to it. Seemed to be the same coating/batter they use for the fried green tomatoes. Saved some room for the famous peach cobbler which was good, but did not knock my socks off or anything. I loved watching the robots deliver the food to the tables. Very cool, and nice that servers are not having to run back and forth however it seemed like they did not utilize that time to ensure their tables had refilled water or my colleague wanted another ginger ale but never got the opportunity to order one. Food was good - service was good balanced between things that went well and opportunities."

"We went here because we heard it was famous from almost every source haha and we can definitely say after trying it that though expensive it is worth trying!! So much bang for your buck. $24 was a bit more pricey but the food was enough for 2 to be stuffed! We got two wings and a half of fried chicken, baked Mac n cheese, fried okra, cornbread, and one of the best lemonades I've ever tried!! I would definitely recommend trying the food here! Warning it is only takeout. My mom and I did go inside and the lady in there was super nice and welcoming. We got our food right away and loved looking at the pictures on the wall that gave it a homey diner environment."
