If you do nothing else, make sure you experience the testing menu. It's an exceptional way to sample a variety of dishes, and as a food lover, this is undoubtedly the best route to take. The first two dishes were the Florida Tomatoes and Bing Bread. Apologies for diving into the Bing Bread before capturing a photo--its irresistible allure got the best of me. The Florida Tomatoes were an impeccable start, featuring a delightful mix of smoked tomatoes, sweet kiwi, and refreshing cucumber topped with Aqua de Diablo. The combination of sweetness from the kiwi, the smokiness of the tomatoes, and the spiciness of the Aqua de Diablo was a harmonious explosion of flavors that danced on the palate. The highlight of the evening, in my opinion, was the Caraflex Cabbage. This dish was nothing short of a culinary spectacle--spicy and creamy with an indescribable depth of flavor. It was, quite frankly, life-changing. I'm already eagerly counting the days until I can enjoy it again.Next up was the Koshihikari Rice. The layers of truffle, oyster mushrooms, and hints of Thai basil were mesmerizing. It had a risotto-like quality that, while unexpected, worked beautifully.By the time dessert arrived, I was thoroughly stuffed, but I couldn't resist the Mango Sorbet. It tasted like a mango cheesecake, with a creamy, refreshing twist. If you want to truly understand how amazing Zitz Sum is, listen to a Waka Flocka song and imagine the ad-libs--'BAH BAH BAH!' That's the kind of flavor explosion you're in for. Don't miss out--experience it for yourself!Thank you, Zitz Sum, for an unforgettable dining experience. Until next time!

Recently there again on 6/15. For us its easy to "overeat" here as we definitely over-order, just too many things to repeat or try. The Bing Bread is a must. Think there would be a riot if taken off the menu. So really liked the Bao, incredibly good, and very different from other baos. Also the Koshihikari Rice and the Black Cod. Server Gabriel really good.Yes no doubt will return.

I discovered this gem on Instagram, and I have to say, dining here was nothing short of a religious experience. He made a reservation for 8 pm, and though we arrived a bit early, we were warmly welcomed and seated at the bar. There, we met Suave, our charming bartender, who captivated us with his enthusiasm and expertly recommended drinks.Suave explained that the restaurant prides itself on offering seasonal dishes, so the menu is always evolving. However, some staples remain, like the divine wonton in brodo and the exquisite big eye tuna and beets. Our server, Luis, continued the trend of exceptional service by suggesting we try the potato dumplings and the miso black cod. Wow! Each dish was a delightful surprise, complementing the others perfectly and surpassing our expectations. For dessert, we indulged in the HK-style French toast, a perfect sweet ending to our meal. For drinks, my husband enjoyed the Inside Joke, while I savored the Cha Chaan Teng.Overall, the food, service, and ambience were superb. We can't wait to visit again!

Great meal at Zitz Sum in Coral Gables.A hidden 30 seater inside an office building. They describe their food as "Japanese food looked through the lens of Italian ingredients and technique." I describe it as delicious. We opted for the tasting menu at $125pp but keep in mind, all but a few of these dishes are available a la carte as well. Our favorite items: The bing bread with the miso & sesame honey butter was a great way to begin. The waygu beef tartare in a conewas an excellent one biter. (it's served differently a la carte) We enjoyed the wahoo crudo with its clean and fresh sake broth and citrus flavor. We loved their signature chicken & black truffle wonton in their parmesan & matsutake shoyu broth. This tasted excellent. Firm wontons, flavorful broth. We added the rice hotpot with herbs, ikura, & an egg, was a great addition, although there was already plenty of food in the existing tasting menu. The caraflex cabbage was a sleeper dish. I wish I had more! Charred perfectly, excellent spicy sauce and topped with a great cheese for an excellent flavorful bite. See Ma, I do eat my veggies! Waygu was excellent, a perfect medium rare. The shrimp and lobster har gow was a miss for some of the people at our table, as was the Cavatelli with the XO sauce. This restaurant has sake, wine & beer, no liquor, they also have a few sake based cocktailsI had the "Freak On A Leash" it was excellent with a kick from Fresno chilis. One of my companions had a beer he enjoyed, another went for the wine pairing with the tasting menu $45.For the tasting menu there was also a cold sake paring which I selected. It was okay, but served in wine glasses vs the low ball sake glasses. While I understand inspiration and flavors are from both Japanese and Italian cuisine, I would have preferred the sake glass. I think it would have kept the temperature better. We finished the meal with a trifecta of dessertsOur group raved about the sorbet, I Ioved the Hong Kong Style French toast with its delicious peanut butter sauce and milk iced tea gelato. There were two petit fours per person also presented after the desert.Service flow was quite good, and attentive. Staff were wam, friendly and knowledgeable. Will go back!

Hubby and I went last night for dinner. We got seated right away which I loved. We did the sampling menu and it didn't disappoint. Omakase style so we didn't know what we were getting. Every plate got better and better. We were worried we weren't going to get full but everything was curated perfectly. Manor, our waiter was attentive. The restaurant was intimate, dimmed, & the perfect amount of loud. We will back! I'm still obsessing over all the plates we had.

Best Restaurant in Miami ⁉As the summer months begin to roll in, we took advantage of the outside seating. We had let the team know in our reservation that we were celebrating an anniversary and were greeted with complimentary champagne. Our server was phenomenally interactive in the process. It felt as if we had our own food guide as we took every bite. We discussed to great detail the mastery of each ingredient that the chef carefully melded together. The food was paced and after 6 dishes we were STUFFED. We had crafted a contingency plan in our mind prior to our meal to stop at a ventanita for some sandwiches to top off the meal, however that was not necessary at Zitz Sum. The portions were PERFECT. I can't wait to come back for the tasting menu or their next menu.

Visited Zitz Sum in Coral Gables. The tucked-away location offered a cozy, moody setting--ideal for a romantic evening. I was so excited to try it because i had heard so many great things about the menu, and read that it was one of the top 50 restaurants in the US. However, the disappointment began with the limited drink selection, only featuring wine and sake-based cocktails. The small menu was further underwhelming, with several desired items unavailable. The culinary experience included the TARTARE, CRUDO, and SHRIMP & LOBSTER HAR GOW, all of which were good but failed to impress. The standout was the BAO with Niman Ranch short rib & habanada sofrito. The WONTON IN BRODO had a flavorful broth, and the KINOKO HOT POT was satisfactory. The CAVATELLI, though decent, lacked the wow factor. Felt like everything was missing either salt or citrus. I had desert but I can't recall anything about it other than that it was very thanksgiving-ish and not my thing. The service was ok as well. But again, nothing extraordinary. One redeeming factor was a cocktail whose name i can't recall but resembled a spicy smoked old fashioned. Considering the evolving menu, there might be a chance for improvement upon a return visit. :/

Have been a few times. Prefer to sit outside when they have it set up. Dimly lit restaurant that is a bit hard to find in a building with offices and banking etc. The staff are lovely and the service is attentive. The food is creative and interesting. Sometimes the interesting part makes things less delicious but for the most part dishes are innovative and tasty. Did the set 7 course menu last time we went and I'd say 5 of the dishes were a hit. Am I as obsessed with this place as the food critics? No. Do I enjoy eating here? Yes.
