The service was very friendly (we had two people OTHER than our waiter helping us out and asking if we needed anything). The food was fantastic! I had the Dragon Bowl Salad and every ingredient was fresh and delicious! The flavors blended well and the portions were pretty generous! I got some wings to-go that I ate for dinner tonight, and they were absolutely amazing! Honey BBQ, not too hot, but plenty of flavor. I would recommend Wooden Nickel to anyone!

Stumbled on this place by accident. The restaurant is in a non- descript storefront with absolutely no signage. If the woman in the shop next door wouldn't have told us about it we would have just walked by. First the good:Service- prompt friendly and attentiveFood- we had onion rings that were great. Wife had the cheeseburger that she said was great, but in my opinion it was a little on the small side. I had the Power Bowl with chicken which I thought was both unique and satisfying. Atmosphere- is spartan, but not unpleasant. The real problem was the sound level of the music, which was more suited to a disco than a restaurant.

Organized chaos would be the best term to describe how to approach Wooden Nickel. Walking in to either the new Mebane location or the OG Hillsborough one will greet you with a boisterous cacophony of patrons all packed into what seems a space far smaller than it should be... but it works. There is almost never anyone at the door to seat you as all seats are FCFS, and you may have to wait for something to open up. Patience, in the case of seating at Wooden Nickel, must be a virtue.The beers are plentiful and always rotating taps from favored breweries all over the US. Each month will usually carry a themed brewery until they run out and the best way to know what's on tap is their social feeds. There's also a pretty deep selection of liquors with some nice higher end offerings you're unlikely to see in other establishments... or even on the shelves of the local ABC stores.The food... that's what you're here for, right? They have a stable fare of burgers, chicken wings, handhelds, and an amazing wedge salad, but the real deal is their daily specials that are not published on the web page and only known if you happen to walk in and look at the chalk board. They might post them on the socials, but don't count on them being available at all times... they run until they're out, and then you're back to the regular menu. Oh, and they maintain a local connection to the Wooden Nickel farms where many of their daily special ingredients originate. Do not hesitate to bask in the flavor of local ingredients made fresh daily.

If I could marry a burger, I would. Specifically I would the Hangover burger which seems to be a preventative, in my experience. As my bridesmaids, I would have the bar staff, and for the band- the kitchen. Dont skip this place whilst in town, especially if it's after 9. 10/10 for the Glass Quarter aka the The Rusty Nickel aka the The Wooden Nickel.

Enjoyed our Saturday lunch at the Wooden Nickel! I had the Dragon Dance Power Bowl Salad with grilled chicken added, and my boyfriend enjoyed the grilled chicken panini. Both were yummy!

Great atmosphere! Super fast service and plenty to eat and drink while you relax in a public house that feels like it should! I recommend if you are wanting a beer and some pub fare, this is the place! Give it try if you find yourself in Mabane NC!

The food was good, the waitstaff was excellent. We will be returning soon. A weekend evening and the place had a good crowd but not too noisy.

This place was great, the brisket was amazing. I would definitely comeBack here. I would recommend it to anyone for the food.
