Food tastes ok, but it was just a thin layer of meat for the combo, on a thick bed of cabbage and the wait was too long

Our first visit to this restaurant. Loved the varied menu! Our ohana ordered chicken katsu with curry sauce, kahlua pork, regular and spam moco loco, and appetizer platters of fried pork dumplings. All entrees came with scoops of steamed rice and chilled macaroni salad and were served on warm steamed cabbage. And shave ice is a refreshing way to finish your meal. Everything was amazingly delicious, and the only way to describe the macaroni salad...yummy!Aloha, Waikikie Hawaiian BBQ! Can't wait to come back!!

Waikikie is underrated and very fairly priced. If you aren't looking for it you might miss it (and you might even miss it if you are looking for it lol). I've also noticed that there really aren't a lot of Hawaiian food options in / around the city, so if you're looking for some inside the perimeter, I'd recommend Waikikie! I've been a handful of times, most recently I got the Waikikie combo (half chicken half beef) with a scoop of rice and 2 scoops Mac salad. Typically plates / combos come with 2 scoops rice one scoop macaroni. I also got the fried zucchini. The Waikikie platter was huge - it definitely last me two separate meals. Not pictured is also some cabbage under the meat! Needed some flavor / a kick so I added sriracha, teriyaki, and a little soy sauce. They have a little station inside to sauce up your food. This is the type of restaurant where you walk up to a counter and order and pay and then your food is brought to you or an order number is called. Not a full-service place - just a heads up! They have seating both inside and outside. The building and inside could definitely use a spruce/clean. The inside is poorly lit and doesn't look like it's been updated or renovated in decades. It kind of reminds me of the inside of a Taco Bell from the '90s that has been frozen in time, with a different color scheme lol

I really enjoy this place. It is affordable food with a friendly staff.I got the Waikikie Combo which is bbq chicken and bbq beef with two scoops of rice and mac salad. I also got the Hawaiian Huapiu. I tried the Spam Musubi and chicken musubi. This is a stand alone venue with limited parking in the front and more parking out back. The chicken was definitely thighs and half cabbage. The beef is probably flank steak. The price makes it worth it. The flavor makes it a steal. The rice is nothing to write home about. Mac salad was a nice addition. The protein has good flavor that comes from the sauce. Teriyaki is extremely sweet.Hawaiian Haupiu is a dessert. It is a rice pudding jello consistency with toasted coconut shavings on top. Tastes pretty good and I loke the small size. The Spam musubi and chicken musubi are a meal in themselves. Not that tasty but the rice makes it very filling.Nice meal!

Hole-in-the-wall Hawaiian! You get a lot of food for a reasonable price! Things you should know:I. PARKINGThere's a free, private lot out front of the restaurant. Easy. II. SERVICETimely. There is a fountain station and self-service utensils. When you enter, you order at the register and they'll give you an order number table marker. III. QUALITY I've never been to Hawaii to say if the food is authentic, but I would assume with the ambience and presentation, it is. Aside from that, the food tastes amazing. As for the interior? It's dingy and dated, giving it character, but could use some updating. IV. CAPACITY This place is fairly busy on weekends but we always saw an available table during our stay.

I've always wanted to try Hawaiian food that wasn't a poke bowl, because I love poke bowls, but I know there must be more to the cultural. Very pleased to have found a place here in Atlanta where I can try just that. Ordered the Chicken combo which came with chicken katsu and a barbecue chicken, rice and mac salad. None of the items were particularly flavorful. Everything could've used some salt, even the rice. The barbecue chicken tasted prepackaged to me to the point where it felt and tasted familiar. The spam masubi was tasty and pretty big portions. The saltiness of the spam did wonders. I'm glad I was able to try Hawaiian cuisine, but maybe I'll try something else on the menu.

Looking for something good and filling I decided to try this place because I have not tried Hawaiian food. This was my first time ordering from through DoorDash.I ordered the Waikikie Combo. And it was really good and had enough later to eat. The macaroni salad was good and the seasoning was enough. I definitely will be back to try other things on the menu. 5/5 for food and the placement of the food.

I was excited to try this place because I've never tried Hawaiian BBQ (my only Hawaiian food introduction is poke, which I absolutely love), and this place seems to have great reviews. I ordered pick up, and here some things to note:Parking: Thankfully, there is parking at the restaurant, but it's very limited. I accidentally took a wrong turn and turned into the business next to the restaurant, which ended up working in my favor since there were no parking spots left at the restaurant.Service: The worker I interacted with was extremely sweet and greeted me with such a warm welcome. There was no one else in line, so I was able to get in and out quickly!Food: I ordered the spam masubi and the Waikiki Combo (beef and chicken). I was excited to try the spam masubi since that is a staple, and I'm so glad that I ordered it! I easily could've downed more of these because it was that good! My one gripe is that I wish the spam to rice ratio wasn't so significant so I could taste more of the delicious spam. Either way, it's such a simple dish that packs a delicious punch. On the other hand, I was not super impressed with the Waikikie Combo meal. I do wish that there was a more even distribution of chicken and beef since I much preferred the beef. I paired the beef with kimchi I already had on hand, which married it together beautifully. I wasn't the biggest fan of the chicken as it was a bit in the saltier side. Also, I honestly could've gone without the macaroni salad since it barely had any flavor.I'm not entirely sure if I will return to this restaurant as it didn't blow me away, but I'm super excited to try authentic, fresh Hawaiian food in the future!

Hawaiian BBQ, truly a niche specialty, but every city needs one. I got the super combo and the loco moco. The take out container came with a cute little card on top, got to love the touch. And then 2 containers of heaping food, though honestly I couldn't tell which dish was which. Loco momo - 2 Pattie's with gravy and 2 eggs on top. It was creamy and delicious. I think this was my favorite. It's comfort food and give you the feels. I think the rice was a bit dry and I think would've been improved if it had been taken out of a rice cooker warm and soft. Can't say I am a fan of macaroni salad but this was pretty solidThe super combo! BBQ chicken and beef with gravy on top and 2 eggs as well. What can I say it was good, but even with the gravy the meat was a bit tough and hard to get the flavors as the gravy and eggs smothered it all. The loco moco was a hit for me, I think all the elements of the dish worked together. I like the personal feel and more mom and pop vibes. Would recommend :)

I have been wanting to try this place forever and it was just a bust even after seeing the glowing reviews on Yelp. Coming here on a Friday night, it was pretty busy! There is free parking but lot can get crowded. This place is an order and pay at the counter and get the food delivered to your table. The cashier/server here is the hands down the BEST service we ever had and he's so funny. As we were new and people in front of us as well, he offered to run through the menu and provide any recommendations and he was just so helpful! My boyfriend and I ordered the spam musubi, Waikikie Combo, and Chicken Katsu and added pineapple sauce. We arrived at around 7, we ordered our food to-go to not stay too close to closing. It was pretty busy so we waited around 15 mins for our food. The spam musubi left so much to be desired for the high price tag. The spam had no sauce or anything it seemed like and was frankly cut so thin compared to the amount of rice served. The amount of rice packed in this was so unnecessary and I removed nearly half of it.I really wanted to love the Waikikie Combo, but it was soooo salty! Both the beef and the chicken were so unbearably salty even with eating a mouthful of rice each time. The proteins were cooked well, but just overly salted. The mac salad I found to be fine and to be adequately seasoned. My boyfriend found his chicken katsu to be just okay, but nothing stellar. It was still crispy after the drive home, but the pineapple sauce we paid $1.50 extra for was pretty insulting. It tasted like extra sweetened sweet and sour sauce in soft jello form. Maybe I expected something different from pineapple sauce and maybe like more pineapple taste or pineapples, but sauce is a major skip. If they served sweet chili sauce, that would have been eons better. All in all, I don't foresee myself coming back anytime soon.
