Alright, so the meal itself is absolutely a 5 star meal...but, and this is a big but, you need to watch out for the slipped in 'upcharge' attempts. What do I mean? Alright...so we order a pupu platter for the table...waiter overheard us discussing maybe getting spring rolls and just wandered off muttering about them...and suddenly there they were. Now don't get me wrong, they were freakin delicious, but we didn't order them.Likewise as each person ordered their main course, my dude tried to slip in that 12 dollar upcharge for 'shrimp' to be added to literally EVERYTHING. It was hilarious but only because we caught on and were very clear that no, we did NOT want the bloody shrimp.Other than that, meal was fantastic. Imperial beef, the all in fried rice, the mahi mahi and the volcano chicken were all delicious and plentiful. The Mai-Tais got the job done (especially with the upcharge 151 floater). Place isn't cheap but was a really great meal - glad we went - just be aware that you need to pay attention!

We live it here. It's a bit of a go to for when people are visiting, if we have a celebration but don't went to go somewhere that feels pretentious. My mum loved this place so when we celebrated her birthday in her memory this is alway where we go. The portions are very large, including the drinks. Yes they are pricy, but you are at least getting a ton of food. Plus I haven't even had a bag drink here. The space is really beautiful. It's a tiki bar but it's not overly kitschy. There's a sort of authentic feel to it. I think the biggest positive about this place is the people. If you are celebrating anything they will go above and beyond to make you feel special. When we had to postpone our Hawaiian honeymoon (for the third time) we decided to have a "celebration of life" for it to try to cheer ourselves up over it, so we went here with a big group of friends and they gave up all lei's, and a round of free drinks, and a free dessert with a a "RIP" wording on the plate in the same way a redo would for a birthday or anniversary lol. It was great and funny and helped cheer us up. It's an Atlanta institution. Definitely recommend.

Totally recommend to impress out-of-town visitors.Ambience: underground, intimate, relaxing. This is the best way to describe it. You walk in feeling like you left Atlanta and arrived on an island. It captivated us all.Service: our waiter was appropriately attentive, listened, and got everything right. The hostess at the front was really patient with us even though our whole party didn't arrive together. She made sure we were set up to have a great night. I really appreciated that.Food: The food and drinks alone get a 5/5. Everything we ordered tasted fresh and looked nicely presented. My favorite dish was the crab rangoons. They usually taste too crabby to me, but these had the perfect blend of ingredients. Tip: this restaurant offers tours by a really spunky, informed man. He is the type of tour guide that provides laughter and wisdom at the same time. Highly recommend the tour.Would I recommend? Yes. No questions asked. Will I come back? We plan to.

The restaurant has such a fun vibe and staff energy matched the place. I had a great time here. I do recommend making a reservation for dinner as it can get busy. The smoked half rack of lamb was amazing and cooked to perfection. The crab rangoons had lots of crab meat. The complimentary house made peanut butter was unique. It was sweet and savory with a beautiful caramel color.

Second tiki bar in two months and I am proclaiming myself a "tiki snob". I've been wanting to come here for a long time. But it takes some WORK to get over here.....it is a confusing walk from the Marriott. You have to go DOWN at the Marriott to take a SKY bridge to the Hilton and then go down again to get on a very specific elevator bank (not all elevators lead to Vic's) and then even if you press DOWN to get to the restaurant, the elevator takes you UP UP UP to the top floor where there is a completely OTHER restaurant and then you stop at a few floors, but you are too full to fit any one else, so then down you go to Trader Vics. Phew.....I'm exhausted thinking about this trek. The drinks are OKAY. They are not fabulous. I actually went here twice with two different parties. The first time around we said "let's try something that's not on the super sweet side". All drinks were super sweet. I would have hated to have tried the ones they DID consider sweet. Not bad at all really though.....just not usually my taste. One was some sort of Banana drink and the other was a Painkiller I think. The food was.....ehh.....forgettable? Just okay? Mediocre. We had the lamb which was pretty dry; the Trader Vic salad with shrimp, which I did really enjoy; and the crab Rangoon, which was great. One other thing, but I can't really remember. We wanted bananas foster, but they were out of bananas. So we tried a different one. The dessert was the rum cake and it was way too sweet for my taste. Sickeningly sweet. For the second go-round, Mai Tais were on special for $7 each, so I had that. They were actually pretty good. I tried the all-in-one fried rice which had chicken, shrimp, pork, and all the other normal things one might find in fried rice. It was good. Not great. But good. Service is super duper slow. You'll be here for awhile. The server was sweet though, both nights. Felt bad for the one the second night. I think she had like every single table and it was impossible to keep up. Ambiance is nice. Not as cool as the Golden Tiki, but I'm not sure if that's a coconut to coconut comparison. Two different vibes. Golden Tiki is more sexy. Trader Vics is more hotely. Would I go back? Probably not. It wasn't the best. Wasn't the worst. I feel very average about this whole experience.

Trader Vic's is always a delight. I have been here on many different occasions. The drinks are always perfection, the food is delicious, the seating is comfortable and spacious, and the service is good. My only negative is that it can be a little slow at times. That being said, I'm never in a hurry when I'm there and I have what I need. On the most recent visit, I tried dessert for the first time and it was so lovely. If you are there for a full meal and drinks, it can be a bit pricey so plan for it. It's worth it.

I didn't go to the restaurant location, but just picked up a quick prepared meal at the "outpost" across from it. I had the veggie poke bowl and it really surprised me how good it was for prepared airport food! Lots of veggies, and the seaweed salad + mango in the bowl was really good.

From the moment we stepped off of the elevator from our room at the Hilton Atlanta, we were instantly transported to a Tiki Oasis in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the city. My partner and I were greeted warmly with a "aloha" and a lei (in my favorite color too)! While there didn't seem to be any tables in the main dining room, our lovely hostess found us a nice spot tucked away in a corner of the restaurant. Little did we know, it was the same booth of a famous movie scene! We were lucky to overhear this tidbit during a tour of this historical establishment. What a moment! The whole time, everyone was looking at us. We felt like celebrities, and even more so when our waitress brought us out some homemade peanut butter whipped in house with salty crackers and wafery thin cracker-bread. Heavenly! We were then whisked away to an island feast--do yourself a favor and order the Polynesian Fried Chicken (better than Buffalo Wild Wings, I'd say!) dabbled with some sliced pineapple and drenched in spicy delights. What really took our breath away was the wood-fire oven right next to our table. From it we had salmon and imperial beef. Both two thumbs WAY up. Oh Hawaii-o-yippieyay!Pro-Tip: If you like cheesecake, grab a lei at the door ;)
