Tookie's has the best chicken salad in North Carolina. It can be purchased in different sizes for party's and events.

Good home cookin' y'all. Vegetable soup to home made chicken salad on toasted potato bread. Hot dogs out of this world and hamburgers that will keep calling your name! Tookie's is family owned since 1983! Located adjacent to the CruiserZ gas station. Be sure to try the pound cake too! Your belly will thank you! I cannot adequately describe Tookie's but just know you'll think you've just left your momma's kitchen!

Update August 2021Covid was a tough time for all businesses and felt the need to update my review to a positive review. We enjoy going to Tookie's once every other week for lunch. Food is very good and the staff is great. My only complaint is: When y'all going to add Square, Venmo, CashApp? lol Cash is harder to come-by these days. :-)

I am writing this after just one visit to Tookie's but I had a great experience and just had to share it. I have heard people talk about Tookie's before and have passed it many times. It is attached to a Cruizer's but it does not appear to be affiliated with them except sharing some space. I met Tookie, I don't know what some other people are talking about when they said the owners were rude, but Tookie was nothing but nice to me. We talked about his menu, and it being an overcast day I just wanted some soup. He suggested the Navy Bean with a little onion and hot sauce and a couple of minutes later I was walking out the door with my order in my hand. I got back to my office and had my soup. It warmed me up and filled me up as well. This was not a soup of broth with some beans in there, this was bean and beans and some ham for flavor held together with some broth. I am a big eater and one cup of this soup filled me up. Will I go back to Tookie's? Yes I work within walking distance and have a feeling I will eat there more then I really need to.

So disappointed with this place. We've been customers since the days on Six Forks. Today the staff member working was not wearing a mask, and told me the rising COVID cases were "made up" because " the government was trying to control us". I promptly canceled my order and left. We try our best to support local restaurants but this is ridiculous and we will not be retuning.

Been wanting to try this place for a while and finally checked it off of the list. Tookie's, home of the "world famous chicken sandwich" is located in a side store that's part of a gas station. It's clean, well lit, and the staff is friendly. Right now (and maybe always but they put a sign in the window) they are taking cash and checks only so no credit cards. They have the usual other options you'd expect such as burgers and hot dogs but how can you come here for anything other than to test out the claim of "the works best chicken sandwich?"The sandwich has a solid amount of chicken on it. It has celery, some onion, and mayo. It's white meat. Overall it's tasty for sure. Fresh and good flavor. I wouldn't say it's the best ever but it's better than average for sure. It comes on Martin's potato bread, which I rarely eat but like so that was also good but some freshly baked roll would have been better. Not complaining here, just comparing what I'd consider as "worlds best." You get lettuce, tomato, and I added pickles (always a good call) to it. You can add cheese but it's American which is definitely not one of my favorites. So, overall, I'd rate the sandwich and place a solid 3 stars.

I was looking for something besides fast food and happened to spot this little place. When I walked in I was immediately greeted. They had the specials for the day posted. I had a toasted chicken salad sandwich, chips, and drink for $9. It was a very large amount of chicken salad. It was delicious. I was asked if I needed anything after I sat down. Homemade warm chocolate cake came out while I was there. They also had three different types of soup and countless other sandwiches. I would definitely come back if I was in the area.

I discovered Tookie's while filling up my car with gas. It's this little restaurant attached to a gas station however don't let that put you off, this place is amazing. First it's a family run business and the staff couldn't be more friendly, second they are famous for their chicken salad, and third they have some of the best peach cobbler. They are the perfect place either you're just stopping to get take out while you get gas or if you stay and eat. Definitely recommend!

They would have a 5* except they stopped selling hamburgers but have not taken down the large red hamburgers sign from their front window. I went in once to get a hamburger but had to substitute. Trying to save time for those who would see the sign and waste their time coming in to buy them. I am not concerned about them not taking credit cards as this a good thing. If this helps to keep them in business not having to pay the fees to Visa. One should not complain about this but should worry when the day comes when cash is not accepted. To those who agree with the person who left the store because she was told that the government is trying to control you. This cook is wrong. They are not trying to control us, they are controlling us. To those that know, no explanation is necessary, to those who don't, know explanation is possible. Enjoy your food here while you can.

Their chicken salad is legendary...but we have special ordered a cake before that was never made and we stopped in the other day (masks are still required by city of raleigh and wake county) and the guy and lady working weren't wearing a mask and out of the 7 people in line in front of us, none had a mask on either. I looked around hoping to see some sort of ventilation (door or window open, hepa filter...anything) there was none and the ceiling air returns/filters were black and filthy. There is no chicken salad sandwich worth getting covid over and I'm not supporting this local business who can't follow city health guidelines during a pandemic. Village deli will be my new go to.
