The Roof

Absurdly slow service, it took almost an hour to get drinks. Then another 30 minutes for appetizers, and even longer for the entree. The food was not great. I had the Wes's Fried Chicken with Mac & Cheese and collard greens. Even the coke was flat. All around terrible. Very nice ambiance though! Might be a good choice for drinks and conversation. Not for a meal.

I took my girlfriend to The Roof restaurant last night for her birthday. We always take each other out for our birthdays. We have been doing this for over 15 yrs. The Roof was the worst restaurant that we have eaten at. In terms of atmosphere, FOOD, and service. I read the reviews, but I wanted to give them a chance. I should have believed the reviews. I had a reservation. When we arrived, we waited 10 minutes to be seated. The waitress handed us a standard printing paper as the menu. We asked for bread or chips. The response was "we do not serve bread". I questioned as to why I have a bread plate on the table. We were told that it was there if I had something to put on it. We smiled and moved on. The flatware's are very inferior and very lightweight. My friend and I ordered. We requested for the appetizers not come with the entrees. My girlfriend mozzarella sticks arrived, but not my salad. She took a bite and said this is terrible and left the rest. My salad arrives about 7 minutes later with my entrée. I commented that my entrée was going to get cold while eating my salad. The server just ignored me and left. I took 2 bites of the salad and started eating my entrée. I ordered Land and Sea. The lamb was tough and no taste. I was not given a steak knife so therefore it was difficult to cut the lamb chops. The lobster had a very unhealthy amounts of sodium. It was so salty that I could not eat it. That entrée was $59.00. The mashed potatoes had no taste. My friend ribeye was just as nasty for $42.00. We didn't even look at the dessert nor was it offered.Requested to speak to the manager. We waited for her to make her rounds with the complaints before she could get to us. Her name is Dee and with an attitude. I complaint about the salty lobster, tough lamb chops and watery tasting mashed potatoes. She apologized and could not wait to walk away. Meanwhile total charged $191.18, $29.00 automatically charged service fee gratuity. $5.22 for using ATM/CREDIT card not cash.It's difficult to support such a restaurant. I will not recommend nor go back to the Roof. I hope these same people experience horrible tasting food in their free time when they go out.

I recently visited the Roof Restaurant and Lounge with my family of three around 7 pm. Upon arrival, we were met by a woman who we later discovered was the manager. Unfortunately, her demeanor lacked the professionalism expected of a manager.Our server, Ericson, however, provided excellent service. Despite the disappointing quality of the food, he was attentive and did his best to accommodate us. It was concerning to find the restaurant nearly empty on a Saturday night, and now I know why. One major issue was the automatic inclusion of a 20% gratuity fee, which was not communicated to us upfront. This lack of transparency was disappointing and should be clearly stated, perhaps on the door or through signage.Regarding the food, it was overly salty to the point of being inedible. As someone who doesn't typically complain about saltiness, this was a significant letdown. It felt like the dishes had been drowned in salt, ruining the dining experience entirely.Considering the owner's background as a lawyer, there's an expectation for better management and attention to detail. While I wanted to love this place, the overall experience fell far short of expectations, leaving me disappointed and unlikely to return.

It's on the 3rd floor above Alpha desserts building. You can take elevator or stairs. First thing. The place is really nice. Nice seating area inside, very roomy, and nice rooftop patio with lake view. It can get windy up there! There's a good menu but we only ordered drinks. I had the rose champagne with elderberry -- so good. It is sweet. I also got a jalapeño margarita. It was strong and ok. They don't have mezcal btw. All the staff was very sweet and friendly. We definitely want to come back to try their food menu. On a Saturday night it was pretty slow. Music was good inside but there was no music playing outside on the patio, that would've been nicer. When we left at midnight the elevator was not working so we had to walk down 3 flights of stairs buzzed and in stilettos. Overall we had a great time.

Read the reviews they were great thought it was gonna be a nice date. Service was awkward not very welcoming. The food was alright overly salty fries and basically not seasoned Cajun grilled chicken sandwich. Fried chicken was not cooked well very chewy and stringy. Mac and cheese was good. Ended up not eating and went to the Arby's next to it.

If I could 0 stars, I would. I had high hopes for this restaurant, very beautiful + black owned. We waited almost 20 minutes for a table(the restaurant was empty). Ok cool, now time for the drinks... there was an eyelash in my friends drink and random particles in both of ours. We took the drinks back and the the bartenders nails were extremely dirty !! That should've been our sign to leave, but still wanting to give it a chance we ordered food. I ordered the blacked chicken Cajun pasta. I waited an HOUR for this and the chicken was not blackened, it had no flavor, the pasta was hard, and there was barely any sauce.

Service was fantastic! Live music was so fun! Great place for a drink after dinner. Definitely give it a try.

The drinks took long to arrive , the food was good but the unnecessary charges were kinda ridiculous. they charged a fee for not using cash to pay , some state taxes which I've never seen another restaurant add to their bill. automatic gratuity and they don't ask if you want separate bills and they make it one bill so the gratuity is higher

I took my husband for his birthday and it was tragic. It took forever to get our drinks from the bar. Over 30 minutes and the place was almost empty at 8:20. Our seat time was 7:30 and we waited forever to get drinks, water, fried pickles. We paid for our poorly executed items, trashed drinks, and left.. overrated, over priced, and not worth the visit in my opinion. Almost ruined my husband's night.
