Met a former work associate turned friend for lunch. I had a salad and he had the Philly cheese steak sandwich. We both enjoyed them -Service was ok. Wasn't very crowded - they just didn't seem too attentive.Place is a sports bar type - TVs on the tables in the bar and quite a few larger ones up on the wall.Probably a cool place to hang out with friends and watch a game - the food is secondary to the place I think.

Definitely the place to watch sports! We went to watch March madness around 5pm Saturday. No wait time for a table. Not only do they have several TV's to watch multiple games, the food is decent! Our waiter was friendly and attentive, even during the busy March madness. We ordered the honey Kolsch beer and it was cold and delicious. We ordered the crack fire, spinach dip, pickle chips and Buffalo chicken dip. My favorite was the spinach dip and jalapeño aka crack fire. I've never had a spinach dip with bacon and loved it. Restaurant was clean inside. My husband and I were visiting from out of state and came with our friends that live in NC. We came for beer, appetizers, and basketball! Definitely recommend for attentive service, tasty food, and sports.

I've been to The Pickled Onion twice now and I'm a fan. I'm pretty picky about pub fare but there are a few things why I rated them at 5 stars instead of 4 (it was a toss up but I'll explain). The Pickled Onion can get very busy so it's best to come when the crowd has left, because that's when you get top notch service. You seat yourself and at one of the booths or tall tables. It's very open and feels more like a sports bar than a pub. Tables are always clean and the menus are wiped between customers. The menu is small but mighty. My go-to are the Blue Chips to start. I've ordered the Pork Belly Smack which was phenomenal and this past visit, I ordered the Shrimp Platter and exchanged the fries for mashed potatoes and gravy. And let me say, those mashed potatoes were real! Some places use the powdered stuff but this was the real deal. Besides the Blue Chips being a favorite of mine, I have to say that The Pickled Onion has THE BEST coleslaw I have ever had!! This last visit, our waitress did something that immediately made this original 4 star review into a 5 (and if you read my reviews, you know what she did...). She gave me another soda cup before I finished my first! Right there, that earns 5 stars! Having excellent customer service, delicious Blue Chips, AND the best coleslaw? It's a no brainer that I'll be back!

Pretty bad experience here. Haven't eaten here in a few years, hope springs eternal so we have them another try. Bad decision. The spinach bacon dip was watery and not enough dip for two people (plenty of pita but chintzy on the dip). Ordered a mushroom Swiss burger medium well (this means NO pink). Burger arrived completely pink all through. Side note - burger looked pretty sad anyway. We pointed out the burger being undercooked, sent it back and honestly didn't want another try. Server gave us a coupon for a free appetizer next visit - threw it away. Not a good experience and we won't be back.

The food was fine, although half the table had their food for nearly 10 minutes before the other half (table for 4).But what earned this review is the level of careless disregard they had to a dangerous mistake made by our server. When we asked for drinks, my partner asked for diet Dr Pepper, as he is diabetic. The server said "no problem" and the evening went on. My partner drank 2-3 glasses when another server (or maybe manager? No idea) went by and offered a refill, he said "yes, please. Diet Dr Pepper."The man replied that he could get him regular Dr Pepper but they didn't carry diet. I stayed polite but asked him to check immediately because my partner is diabetic. The man asked what my partner wanted if they truly didn't have diet, and the answer was "Water " he came back by a bit later without a single word, set down a glass of water, and walked away without a word.I am beyond livid. To treat a customer that way when YOU are responsible for screwing up and causing a medical incident is reprehensible. No, I did not demand the manger or risk beingcalled a "Karen", but the utter disregard your staff showed for a customer who is now hyperglycemic and will be feeling miserable for the rest of the night speaks volumes.We'd really looked forward to trying your restaurant. Never again.

My wife and I went inside and placed a to-go order. She specifically asked for a order of wings with all flats. After the server rang it up, she noticed that the receipt did not indicate that she requested all flats. The server reassured her that she would let the kitchen know about her request. Of course it wasn't until we got home that we noticed that only was the instructions not followed, but some of the wings had not been coded properly in the sauce requested. Put a damper on the quality of the meal, especially the time of night.
